"I was blown away. It was so different from anything I imagined...more direct than psychiatry or psychology...and cheaper! I left the session with a feeling of control and confidence. Worth a dozen therapy sessions.
Thank you!"

Astro-logical Forecast for Monday 9/20/2010

9:09AM NY/6:09 AM LA starts off with a meet-up between  nebulous Neptune and the Moon (our reigning need), which then goes void until 4:15PM NY/ 1:15PM. Take note of your dreams. A morning meditation could be transporting — as could other forms of connected bliss. If you have trouble getting out of bed (especially on the West Coast) and otherwise dealing with reality, know that others may be having similar experiences — the “flake factor” is high during these periods — so be patient  and flexible — especially with scheduled meetings and set agendas. Doublecheck your calendar and confirm your appointments. If you’re an artist relying on inspiration for a living, today is a good day for brainstorming. For more details on Moon Voids, please see the bonus forecast posted after 8/4/2010 — if you haven’t read it already.

After the Void, Moon will be in watery Pisces, a sign which needs, to quote my teacher, “to identify the ideal, understand impressions and work with the intangible”. Sounds like the afternoon and evening will bring more of the same texture as the morning, only with a mindset and intention that’s actually in gear.

Astro-logical Forecast for Friday 9/17/2010 and the Weekend

“Bring it on!” “Make it happen!” Did I really write that yesterday? Mother Nature sure made it happen in my neck of the woods: a “tornado-like storm” landed right outside my building in the normally utterly uneventful town of Forest Hills. Talk about a massive release of energy — to be anticipated with all the planetary connections this week. So how was your Thursday?

(Fellow astrologers can analyze the astrology of this event: about 5:40PM Forest Hills, NY 9/16/2010)

I have a confession to make: I don’t always post certain possibilities in this forecast — I prefer to stay positive. After all, planets don’t do things, people do! So I didn’t write yesterday that the Jupiter (expansion) — Uranus (bolt from the blue, shock to the system) in Pisces (water, water everywhere) might bring about certain sudden, unusual, forceful weather — such as a storm! So perhaps I’ll go on record more often. And I’ll remind you all to put together your emergency kit if you haven’t done so already: water, canned food, cash, first aid kit, etc. Put one in your car, too! We are in a volatile planetary cycle – meaning Mother Nature is more inclined to “make it happen” than usual. And it’s hard to forecast exactly where these events will occur. So be prepared. And have a great day!

Aside from further outbursts likely related to the Jupiter-Uranus conjunction that’s exact on Saturday, Friday should feel relatively balanced. Still a good day to get things accomplished, even if you’re leaving work early for a day of atonement. Saturday has plenty of connections to a Moon in the sign of socially significant Aquarius, an air sign (please, no more storms). Sunday should be quieter than Saturday. Monday the Moon is void from 9:09AM – 4:15PM on the East Coast. Read the bonus forecast on 8/4/2010 (all about Moon voids) and phone it in, if you’re living on EST.

Astro-logical Forecast for Thursday 9/16/2010

If you’re feeling constructive and pro-active today, the planets will likely support you in your endeavors. Bring it on! Moon is still in “make it happen” Capricorn, facilitating your efforts to climb whatever mountain you’re facing. A communicative connection between Mars, planet of action and investigative Pluto offers even more resolve — especially when it comes to getting right to the heart of the matter at hand. Yes you CAN be enthusiastic about your objectives if you tap into the potentially wildly speculative, sky’s the limit alignment of expansive Jupiter with inventive Uranus (though both of these aspects are exact on Saturday, they’ll likely be in effect all week).

I expect some technological breakthrough to make headlines between now and then, even if it’s just Virgin Mobile offering 300 minutes of phone calls and unlimited texts, internet access and all the social networking apps you can handle — for just $25/month (saw an ad for it on the subway on Wednesday) — how cool is that?

Special note to Pisces, Virgos, Geminis and Sagittarians born in the last two days of their respective signs: yes, it really IS all about you. In what ways are you declaring your independence — a process that’s been going on all summer?

Astro-logical Forecast for Wednesday 9/15/2010

Off to the races? You could do worse than bolt out of bed this morning, fired up by a challenge to your New Moon agenda. Making any adjustments to your process? Enthusiasm and indulgence in “big picture” thinking likely rule the morning, followed by a brief Moon void from 2:51PM – 4:30PM (Angelenos, adjust your lunch hour accordingly). After that, a more practical — but no less ambitious — vibe as Moon moves into “make it happen” Capricorn for a stay until late Friday evening. You can get a lot accomplished over the next few days — see how many items you can cross off your list before the weekend.

Astro-logical Forecast for Tuesday 9/14/2010

Moon in Sagittarius is a perfect time to express your opinion — so stand up and be counted — get out and vote if there’s an election happening in your state. There is no void-of-course Moon to blame things on if the results don’t go your way — underdogs and surprise upsets are not especially favored. My concern is that much of the campaign leading up to this election happened during Mercury retrograde, suggesting a certain amount of confusion about what each candidate actually stands for. Do your own research and cast your ballot.

This concludes the public service portion of today’s forecast.

Two shifts today: first, Mars moves into sexy Scorpio, adding further intensity to relationships — in the form of depth (on the plus side) and/or control (on the down side). Over the next several weeks, resist the urge to indulge in vengeance, especially over petty grievances. Endeavor to take the high road with honor and integrity (even among thieves). Scorpio can build all the way up to Heaven and all the way down to Hell. The choice is yours.

Second, Pluto turns direct at 2 degrees of Capricorn. If you are a Capricorn, Cancer, Aries or Libra born around December 24-26, March 23-25, June 24-26 or September 25-27, prepare yourself for third and final round of whatever forces have resulted in a major change in perspective over the past year, not unlike a phoenix rising from the ashes.  If you weren’t born on those days and you’ve been experiencing some kind of intense transformation — or the pressure to have one — your Moon or other acutely sensitive point (such as your Rising Sign) might be affected. Consult your local astrologer for details.

Pluto’s transit through Capricorn has been exposing corruption and weakness in our infrastructure since 2008, especially in things hidden or underground. It occurs to me that the San Bruno gasline explosion happened as Pluto was grinding to a halt, about to change direction. Coincidence or conspiracy? Hmmm….

Astro-logical Forecast for Monday 9/13/2010

East Coasters can ease in to the start of the work week: we’ve got a brief Moon void from about 8-9 this morning. Patience on that morning commute, especially as we adjust to Mercury (mind, communication, travel, gizmos) just beginning to move forward again as of yesterday. Moon is in fiery, optimistic, opinionated Sagittarius today — perhaps inspiring you to apply the experience of whatever heights you may have scaled over the weekend and take it even further.

In other news, Tuesday the 14th is an election day in many states, including New York. If you don’t write it down, you’re likely to forget it — so I’ll remind you again tomorrow.

Astro-logical Forecast for Friday 9/10/2010 and the Weekend

William Shatner is getting a lot of press these days. A story about him appeared in the New York Times Magazine last week — and he’s starring in a provocative new sitcom, “$#!@ My Dad Says”. And on March 22, he’ll be 80 years old! With all this activity happening for him this year, do you think he might be personally affected by the empowering, life-altering Big T-Square Party (see forecast for 7/27/10 for details)? I had to investigate — and yes, in fact, he is. Shatner’s Sun is at 0 degrees of Aries; transiting Uranus (intensification, individuation) and expansive Jupiter are right on top of that Sun and making a supportive connection to his ruling planet, Mars. An astrologer counseling Mr. Shatner a year or so ago would have told him to be on the lookout for “breakout” roles that enabled him to shine in ways that might be seen as quirky or shocking….or just being himself. Break a leg, Mr. Shatner!

The Neptune-Mars connection (spirituality, saviors, fanatics), dominating the headlines this week continues to hold sway on Friday, apparently softening harsh edges enough to mollify even that aforementioned (see yesterday’s forecast) would-be book-burning Florida resident. How beautiful can life possibly be? Allow yourself to explore that question this evening — with a partner, even better.

You can continue to explore the depth of a beautiful connection over the weekend. Moon moves into Scorpio Saturday AM, demanding substance along with the sweetness of Friday’s dreamy seduction, augmented by a connection from loving Venus (in Scorpio) to transformational Pluto (ruler of Scorpio). It’s just all so potentially…juicy.

Mercury turns direct on Sunday at 7:09PM NY — be careful on the roads — be patient with yourself and others as we get used to our brains moving fully forward again, which will take until September 27th.  If you’ve been thinking about scheduling an appointment to review your horoscope and chart your course for the next six – twelve months, this is an excellent time to do it.

Astro-logical Forecast for Thursday 9/9/2010

Today’s Moon in cerebral, relationship-oriented Libra spends the morning being buffeted by the planets involved in the ongoing Big T-Square Party (see forecast for July 27 for details on this powerful planetary pattern that mirrors the current upheavals and/or transformation happening now on Earth).  This potential burst of emotional intensity and/or proactivity has been happening about once a week — every time the Moon moves into the signs of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn — for a few months now.  The last day this happened was Friday — and I do recall seeing several posts on facebook that day of people reporting an uptick in intensity.

An easy connection between Mars (action) and Neptune (escape) will likely soften the above mix for most of us, inspiring daydreams and soulful acts of charity — and empowering those who rely on charisma to make their pitch. We may see this reflected in the headlines, along with a possible flipside of Mars-Neptune connections: fanaticism, as in that Florida resident who’s hosting a book-burning on Saturday of a certain text he apparently does not like.

Meanwhile, Jupiter moved back into Pisces around 1AM NY, where it will stay for the rest of the year. This will likely take the edge of  big, pioneering plans that cropped up over the summer — but don’t worry, they’ll be back with a vengeance early next year. Until then, we’ll be given plenty of opportunities to empathize, empathize, empathize.

Special note to those born March 18th – 19th: September 18th could be your lucky day, thanks to Uranus and Jupiter hooking up with your Pisces Sun. Let me know what happens a few days before and after.

Astro-logical Forecast for Wednesday 9/8/2010

Recall that last month’s New Moon was in Leo and the suggestion was to focus on authentic creative self-expression. This month’s New Moon happens today at 6:30AM NY/3:30 AM LA at 15 degrees of Virgo. Keywords for Virgo include: perfection, discernment, work, service, analysis. Whom or what does your creative self-expression serve? How does it work?

Virgo also rules the digestive tract, where it keeps busy instinctively separating the wheat from the chaff. It keeps elements that provide nourishment and eliminates those which do not. Some digestive systems work more efficiently than others, depending on what they are given to process. What is your process? Is it efficient?

Virgo, an Earth sign, is ruled by airy, mental Mercury…but I suspect that’s only because the true ruler of Virgo has yet to make an appearance. What does a planet that’s airy and mental have to do with “gut instinct”, which sounds so earthy and primal? That was my question when reading about the Sabian Symbol for this Virgo New Moon: “In the zoo, children are brought face to face with an orangutan”. Astrologer Blain Bovee helpfully tells us in his book on Sabian Symbols that “orangutan” means “wild man”, and that one of the origins of the word “orange” is “aur”, which means “gold”. Hmmm….this “wild man” that likely runs on “gut instinct” just might be a treasure…

This month, when faced with goals and other challenges, consider going with your gut. Let it lead to you to work and service that nourishes you….and gives you hints about what needs to be eliminated that’s interfering with your process. Your gut already knows what to do…imagine that!

In other news, today loving Venus moves into Scorpio. Let’s manifest depth and passion in our relationships, instead of the shrewish alternative, “If I be waspish, best beware my sting”.   : )

Astro-logical Forecast for Tuesday 9/7/2010

Back to work? Maybe, maybe not. The long weekend may be over in the US, but the Moon, even though it’s in analytical, task-oriented, perfection-driven Virgo, is still in the last day of the old cycle, working a bit like a lame duck elected official; the New Moon begins tomorrow at 6:30AM on the East Coast. During these “dead” moons, we might feel listless: a new cycle is about to begin but we may feel “in the dark” about what it is. If you’re at the office, use the day to wrap up old business and clear your desks in preparation for the new agenda that begins tomorrow.

General notes on this short week, which  is chock-full of energetic shifts as several planets will change signs (Venus on Wednesday; Jupiter on Thursday) or direction (Mercury on Sunday; Pluto next Tuesday): stay loose and be patient with yourself and others if you’re finding you have to repeat yourself several times to be understood or you realize that once again, you can’t remember where you put your (glasses/water bottle/parking ticket).
