Astro-logical Forecast for Friday 10/29/2010 and the Weekend

No major planetary snags on deck for Friday; in fact, the aspects are quite jovial and innovative. Finish all your emotional security-related issues during the last bit of Moon in Cancer…then take a four and half hour rest from 3:48 – 8:38PM NY time — you might even sneak out of  the office early…before someone calls  with an imagined crisis that turns out to be naught. By evening, Moon will be in regal, playful Leo — it’s party time!

No void of course Moon on Saturday to deter your shopping expeditions — you might be inclined to splurge on a luxury item or pampering — though do be mindful that Venus retrograde challenges our ability to determine true value in objects of beauty; outrageously expensive purchases are not recommended at this time.

Since you’ve asked, the horoscope for the March to Keep Fear Alive/Rally to Restore Sanity at 12PM 10/30/2010 in Washington DC  is quite intriguing. Ruthless, explosive, empowering perspective-changing Pluto is rising on the Ascendant of this event — suggesting a potentially powerful impact. Mercury, planet of thought, communication and travel is running wild — ruling over areas related to “big picture” thinking, broadcasting and social service. Mercury is also aligned with a Fixed Star that signifies “positive social reform”. Neptune, planet of the intangible, fantasy, spiritual transcendence, deception and broadcasting is also running wild — this should be an extraordinary forum for expansive, innovative, humanitarian, enthusiastic and compassion communication — defying conventional analysis. Those attending and those observing may not know what to make of this gathering — or even why they are present — except that it represents a powerful force that seeks transcends that which is ugly. The event’s public status is aligned with two other Fixed Stars — one signifying “a different approach”; the other, the “potential for brilliance”. Jupiter, which rules Jon Stewart’s Sun and Moon in Sagittarius, is extremely well-placed in this horoscope, suggesting “optimism, enthusiasm, strength of conviction and expansion will be the central unifying forces” (thanks to Don McBroom for defining Jupiter= Sun/Moon in MIDPOINTS).

The Sun-Moon combination for this day — Sun in Scorpio, Moon in Leo, reads as follows (with thanks to Noel Tyl for this definition): “Two power signs struggle to get the message out: ‘I am a very deep person, reliable and right as right; and you must recognize that and know how good I am for you!’ Excesses of emotion show up as the temperamental trappings for well-organized personal opinion and bias. Understanding the motivation behind the thrust for power is very important to success.” (Note this is the same Sun-Moon combination as Ken Mehlman, whom I wrote about a few months ago). Is astrology cool or what? I’ll be on the Mall wearing the purple witch’s hat, in an early celebration of…

Halloween…on Sunday! Could be weird and mystical, with a Moon void from 5:02 – 11:51PM NY time — right on a connection to nebulous Neptune. Go easy on the punch. Your powers of discernment will be required to make an appearance first thing Monday morning. Be on time.

Astro-logical Forecast for Thursday 10/28/2010

Say goodbye to Mars in Scorpio, which best uses energy by going deep in order to gain control. Today we welcome Mars in high-flying Sagittarius, an energy that needs to express its opinions and other big ideas — just in time for the final days of the campaign season. Look for enthusiastic waxing about all matters philosophical to increase over the next few weeks — it’s a pundit’s dream come true.

This morning might bring you a sobering, yet hopefully practical realization, thanks to a challenge from Moon (our needs) from restrictive Saturn (too bad; deal with it)…but the mood should lighten up as the day progresses: Sun in Scorpio is hooking up with loving Venus (also in Scorpio — and retrograde — as daily readers of this forecast well know), suggesting an urge to merge deeply and a tendency to see whatever is in front of you in the best possible light. If there’s a social invitation or an artsy event on your calendar this evening, go for it — or at least check out the nearest Happy Hour. You’re likely to appreciate the experience, though the astrological rules (Venus retrograde) advise caution in bringing a new object of desire home.

Astro-logical Forecast for Wednesday 10/27/2010

Is Rand Paul determined to become the poster child for Venus retrograde in Scorpio 2010? First, Mr. Paul refuses to shake his opponent’s hand during a political debate several days ago, in a flagrant violation of social conventions we expect to happen in polite society. Then, as you may have heard, one of Mr. Paul’s campaign volunteers stomps on the head of a woman who was present outside another debate. Talk about bad manners! Granted, there are other tense planetary patterns contributing to the edginess many may be feeling, but throwing common courtesy under the bus is one common manifestation of Venus, planet of social expression, retrograde — and the fact that it’s happening in Scorpio, a sign that takes no prisoners, adds to the potential for nasty behavior. How are your social interactions going? We’ve got another 23 days of this — hang in there!

Angelenos, you’ll experience a void-of-course Moon from 7:19AM – 12:14PM. I’d love to hear how many of you may experience alarms not going off, a desire to sleep in late, a general slow start to the morning, including unusual traffic jams, meetings that get canceled, agendas that are not followed or clients calling with crises that turn out to be much ado about nothing.  On the other hand meditation, routine activities, yoga and brainstorming can be productive — as is any activity where your intention does not involve moving in a straight line. Stay loose…and be ready to take action after lunch, when the Moon will be in Cancer, nudging us to tend to issues of home, foundations, family and emotional security. New Yorkers — please do the math for the Moon void an adjust your schedule accordingly. A long lunch hour sounds perfect, so long as it doesn’t involve impulse shopping (you really don’t need it) or a serious business conversation.

Oh — and about those emotional security needs — our feelings may be especially vulnerable to cutting words and other sharp objects, thanks to a challenge to Moon (emotional response) from ruthless Pluto.

Finally — for no particular reason I deleted a sentence from yesterday’s forecast about likely news from the underground (Sun in Scorpio making contact with Pluto, Lord of the Underworld, in earthy Capricorn); yesterday’s headlines did include a deadly volcano and a tsunami. Have a fabulous day!

Astro-logical Forecast for Tuesday 10/26/2010

This may be a day for personal obsessions…or obsessions that get very personal. That and an overload of information that can feel like a bottleneck of energy searching for a clear focus on doing something good. Moon is still in newsjunkie Gemini, tempting you to scatter your resources and multitask yourself into a caffeinated frenzy….but wait — before you throw yourself to the four winds, you could tune in and meditate on a supportive, communicative connection between Sun in Scorpio (life force) and Pluto in Capricorn  — or just meditate. Take a break. Breathe. This can bring stability to your perspective, allowing you to see what is really important. THEN you will know what to do! Point is, if you are stuck or scattered — get out of your head and get down to Earth today. We need you present and accounted for

Astro-logical Forecast for Monday 10/25/2010

Does President Obama read this Astro-logical Forecast? On Thursday I wrote, “Friday we’ll have a Full Moon and nebulous Neptune challenging aggressive Mars. Be mindful of what you put in your system over the next couple of days as your sensitivity to toxins may be higher than usual. This includes people selling snake oil.” And wouldn’t you know it, on Friday, this item makes headlines: “President Barack Obama, fighting to keep Democrats in control of the U.S. Senate, accused Republicans on Friday of peddling discredited “snake oil ideas” about the U.S. economy.” http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSN2220863720101023

A quest for information is on deck for the next couple of days — as in “knowledge is power”. Watch the headlines for efforts to control the flow of information in an effort to wield power and influence — and yes, the planetary influences coinciding with this phenomena have been in effect for a couple of days — exact this AM at 9:17 NY time (Mercury conjunct Venus in substance-demanding Scorpio). This connection is often extremely idealistic — as in “rose-colored glasses” — so please do your due diligence regarding whatever news comes across your desk — it’s likely to be laced with seductive charm that may hide a subversive agenda. That being said, your own personal agenda could be pitched persuasively and successfully today — since whoever is on the receiving end of your pitch probably doesn’t read an astrology forecast, he or she might well accept it on face value.  The buzz begins at 7:47AM NY time, with the Moon’s entry into clever, chatty Gemini.

Meanwhile — another follow up to Thursday’s forecast regarding the impact of Venus retrograde in Scorpio on the chart of Clarence Thomas — note that on Friday, a past love surfaces and confirms several allegations made by Anita Hill. http://www….aolnews.com/nation/article/clarence-thomas-ex-girlfriend-lillian-mcewen-says-he-was-obsessed-with-porn/19685574 Note that Venus turned retrograde EXACTLY on his Midheaven (this is the highest point in his chart — representing career, status — an extremely significant point). A skilled astrologer could have alerted Thomas to this time period — suggesting that his reputation might well be in the spotlight — and that a lover returning to ruthlessly rehash the past would be one possible manifestation.

Astro-logical Forecast for Friday 10/22/2010 and the Weekend

Astro-logical Forecast for Friday 10/22/2010 and the Weekend

Glamorous, charismatic, sublime, surrender, fanatical, transcendental — or perhaps a weird combination of all the above. Whatever it is you’re dealing with today — in your life or in the news — it may not even feel real — but it can still be a delicious escape. It can also be a day of particularly powerful, incisive communication — as a result of intense investigation — we may see some strong personas making especially bold statements in an effort to inspire/influence — watch the headlines. You can also apply this depth of perception to projects of your own.

Moon is still in me-me-me Aries — waxing full at 9:37PM NY. You may recall last month’s Full Moon was also in Aries, a sign that needs to be Number One — and isn’t that an interesting counterpoint to the focus on relationships we’ve been working on all month? What do we really want in our relationships and what are we willing to give in order to get it? That’ll be an interesting question, given that less than an hour after waxing full, Moon moves into sensual, yet stubborn and possessive Taurus, where it usually aims to keep things as they are.

Saturday Sun leaves Libra for Scorpio, joining Mercury, Venus and Mars and increasing the demand for substance over theory in an effort to control. See if you notice the shift in intensity. Sunday’s notable aspect is an easy connection between Mars, planet of action and inventive Uranus, suggesting headlines about progress made in projects benefiting the common good, maybe with a creative dose of technology. Not the worst aspect to have on United Nations Day, eh?

Astro-logical Forecast for Thursday 10/21/2010

Oh, that bewildering Neptune. And that witchy bitchy Venus retrograde in Scorpio dredging up the dreck in relationships — past and present! How else to explain Mrs. Clarence Thomas’s phone call to Professor Anita Hill on Oct 9th asking her to apologize to her husband, the alleged sexual harasser and current Supreme Court Justice. Quick glance at Mrs Thomas’s chart: immediately we see she may be prone to idealism (Sun in Pisces, ruled by Neptune, trine to Neptune), with likely obsessive tendencies resulting from stressful connections between aggressive Mars and delusional Neptune, and mental Mercury and ruthless Pluto (“sexuality, illusion, fantasy and deceit can be played out; may be driven to focus on the unknown, unconscious or subconscious; can be cunning persuasive and manipulative through use of communication and information”). Mrs. Thomas was driven (check her transits) to place a phone call to Professor Hill on a day marked by a stressful contact between Mercury (mind) and expansive Jupiter —  “grandiose thinking; opinionation and bias; driven by belief systems, religious concepts, philosophical ideology; idealism” — and Venus (women) had just gone retrograde EXACTLY on her husband’s Midheaven, which represents his public career status! Yes, nebulous Neptune is currently “hot” in all three charts: the Thomases and Professor Hill — and in the case of Clarence Thomas, we see his Sun (life force), Venus (women, social expression) and Mercury (mind) all under pressure from the Big T-Square Party, especially ruthless Pluto.  Fellow astrologers — birth data for all three posted below; we could talk for hours about these charts. Dear civilians, I’ll now move on to the moment you’ve been waiting for:

Moon is still in impulsive, start-it-yesterday Aries, inspiring you to push ahead. And push ahead you must, while the Moon is still waxing full. Note a possible clash between boundless enthusiasm and a lump of coal in the early part of the day — work through it, if you must. Note also that we are not out of the weirdness zone yet: Friday we’ll have a Full Moon and nebulous Neptune challenging aggressive Mars. Be mindful of what you put in your system over the next couple of days as your sensitivity to toxins may be higher than usual. This includes people selling snake oil. On the plus side — a charismatic performance might be within reach if it comes from an authentic source.

BIRTH DATA: Mrs. Clarence Thomas Feb 23, 1957, time unknown, likely Omaha, NE; Mr. Clarence Thomas Jun 23 1948, 9PM Pin Point, GA; Professor Anita Hill Jul 30, 1956, time unknown, Tulsa, OK  — acknowledging Ricki Reeves, author of THE QUINDECILE — all quotes above from her superb astrological text on a little-known, but extremely potent aspect

Astro-logical Forecast for Wednesday 10/20/2010

Still more Neptune. You may recall a post a few weeks back in which I took a look at California gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman’s birth chart after a former housekeeper alleged that Whitman employed her without checking to see if the housekeeper had a work permit. This was a bit of a problem for Whitman, who apparently has taken a strong position against illegal immigration. Whitman’s chart revealed current challenges from Neptune, suggesting possible idealism, fantasy, escapism, fraud, deception, lies, transcendence, betrayal — you get the idea — and these challenges aren’t going away anytime soon.

Now it has been revealed that when a PR gal (image, illusion) for Whitman announced that the San Diego Sheriff’s Association had endorsed Whitman’s campaign on Monday, there was a typo in her Tweet, thus directing Twitterers to this YouTube video — think tulle, music, alien, intangible, twist, androgyny, rebellious, surreal — in other words a perfect manifestation of nebulous Neptune in the sign of Aquarius trine Mercury in Libra (beauty, balance) on a day with Moon in watery Pisces: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QMWUYMWlEyo&fmt=18   Coincidence or conspiracy? Meanwhile, if any Japanese bass players reading this can tell us what the video is all about, do let us know…

NYers please note that the Moon is void from 6:25- 11:23AM NY time, possibly throwing a wrench into your morning agenda. Let things fall where they may, and definitely go with the flow, chill, brainstorm, focus on the routine; this afternoon the pace ramps up noticeably with the Moon’s entry into “Numero Uno” Aries….followed by Mercury (mind, communication) moving into cuts-like-a-knife Scorpio at 5:19PM NY. WARNING WARNING WARNING — if you are engaged in diplomatic talks, you might do well to choose your words with great care later today, as Moon in impulsive Aries and Venus, Mars — and now Mercury in Scorpio suggest that handling someone with kid gloves is not a top priority. This is also an advisement to restrain your urge to snap back if you happen to be on the receiving end of anyone who has temporarily forgotten their manners or lost their sanity…

Finally, a fabu connection between Mars (action) and expansive Jupiter suggests the potential for boundless enthusiasm (get thee to a gym) or utter bombast.

Astro-logical Forecast for Tuesday 10/19/2010

More of the same from yesterday. Here it is again (slightly modified), in case you missed it:

Today Moon is in the watery sign of Pisces, where it needs to work with the intangible: music, spirit, feeling, art. As I type this the Sun (life force) in balance-seeking Libra is approaching a lovely connection to Neptune, which happens to rule Pisces. And look for sublime inspiration — in art, music and spirit, including the spirit of service, faith, hope and charity — that’s the plus side. Even waspish Venus retrograde in Scorpio can be softened under these Neptunian vibes — did anyone see the gubernatorial debate in NYC last night? Not much in the way of fireworks there — who would have thought it?

Meanwhile, we still have a potential downside of delusional spin —  especially as we get closer to aggressive Mars challenged by — Neptune — on Friday’s Full Moon, so do rely on your own efforts to double check what you’re seeing and hearing.

Astro-logical Forecast for Monday 10/18/2010

Creative, inspirational, mystical, healing, transcendental…or bewildering, delusional, escapist, martyred? What will you encounter this week when a Neptunian fog rolls in? Looking at all the action from Neptune this week makes me think of movie CATFISH, which I saw over the weekend. Angela, one of the key players in the movie, seems to be an extraordinary expression of Neptunian energy (see first sentence of this paragraph). I don’t know when Angela was born (CATFISH is a documentary), but I would bet Neptune is very strong in her chart — and she embodies the very best and the very worst possible manifestations of Neptune in our daily lives. CATFISH is not a perfect film, but it’s one of those experiences that likely will stay with you after you leave the theater.

Neptune dissolves whatever it touches. Tangible boundaries vanish into the ether. Under the influence of a strong Neptune transit, we can sometimes feel lost or untethered. Making commitments becomes quite a challenge; going with the flow is often preferable (read the forecast for 10/13/2010 to see if you’re having a Neptune transit to your Sun Sign). When Neptune entered the mental, humanitarian, technology-oriented sign of Aquarius back in 1998, joining revolutionary Uranus, which had entered its home sign in 1995, I thought to myself, “the catch phrase for the next fifteen years is going to be ‘we are all connected'”. Unlike internet, cell phone and GPS tech pioneers like Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg, however, I never thought much about how to make a fortune exploiting that deductive intuition. We have one more year of Neptune in Aquarius — then we’ll be on to a new catch phrase — stay tuned for updates.

Today Moon is in the watery sign of Pisces, where it needs to work with the intangible: music, spirit, feeling, art. As I type this Mercury (mind, communication, travel) is approaching a lovely connection to — Neptune, which happens to rule Pisces. And Tuesday, the Sun will make that same easy connection. Look for sublime inspiration — in art, music and spirit today, including the spirit of service, faith, hope and charity — that’s the plus side. Even waspish Venus retrograde in Scorpio can be softened under these Neptunian vibes. On the downside — there’s the potential for delusional spin — lies, lies and more lies — watch the headlines, listen to the political debates oh-so-carefully and rely on your own efforts to double check the facts — the media, alas, is likely to be part of the spin.
