Happy first day of December! Review yesterday’s post for coping with Mercury turning retrograde on December 10th and plan accordingly. I have a hunch you’ll be glad I reminded you…
Perhaps a bit of a wobbly day as we adjust to another planet changing signs: this time it’s Mercury, ruling mind, communication and travel, moving into earthy, strategic, practical Capricorn. Ideas are no longer enough; now, they’ve got to add up to something substantive. How will you make it happen? Speaking of Mercury, it’s going retrograde on December 10th at 7:06AM NY. No whining will be tolerated! Mercury retrograde gets such a bad rap because we are geared, in this crazy modern age, to always be thinking, doing, moving FORWARD. Ya know what that gets you? BURN OUT. We need our down times, and Mercury is a perfect time to give our minds a rest. Why else would your computer, phone and/or car choose THIS time to malfunction? Because you are supposed to be slowing down! When Mercury is retrograde this month from Dec 10th – Dec 29th, be prepared for travel delays, scheduling screw-ups, mechanical breakdowns, computer crashes, having to repeat what you’ve just said, misunderstandings and surprise reunions. Avoid signing contracts, making major purchases (especially mechanical ones) and losing patience. Do plan on RElaxing, REviewing, REsearching, REorganizing, REgenerating, REconnecting and REcreating. Right now you should back-up your computer and get whatever gizmo you’ve been meaning to get before the retrograde begins. You’ll find me at the Mac Genius Bar before the week is out… Daily readers of this forecast may recall that in my post about the New Moon on November 6th, I noted that three planets: Mars (action!), Saturn (control) and Pluto (transformation, perspective, underground, exposure), were not connected to any other planets in the New Moon chart, suggesting that whatever was associated with those planets would be “running wild” during this cycle, and that we would see this reflected in the headlines. Mars and Saturn did hook up during the middle of the month, but Pluto has continued to “run wild” and will continue to be wild until tomorrow. So. What have we seen in the headlines that reflects the ruthless, corruption-exposing, potentially explosive, often power-mad, underground rumblings of Pluto running wild? A sampling over the past three weeks includes: Miners killed in New Zealand, concerns about the safety of dental X-rays raised here in the US, a deadly stampede in Cambodia, the recent deadly conflict between North and South Korea, the new TSA security measures involving X-rays and invasive pat-downs (of body areas ruled by Pluto), and to top it all off, the latest Wikileaks exposure of diplomatic machinations that hit the wires yesterday. Coincidence or conspiracy? Today we can expect another wave of information overload and big ideas generated by a dynamic connection between action-oriented Mars in opinionated Sagittarius and expansive Jupiter in all-encompassing Pisces. Got a feeling you wanna get off your chest? You’ve got until 7:35PM NY time to find a people-pleasing way to express it; Venus, which relates to our social expression, moves forward into Scorpio for over a month-long stay, starting this evening. Remember the Venus in Scorpio mantra, “If I be waspish, best beware my sting.” OK, perhaps I’m exaggerating just a bit, but that’s right in line with today’s aforementioned connection between Mars and Jupiter. ; ) Hopefully you all enjoyed the relative equilibrium suggested by yesterday’s easy connection between Sun in enthusiastic, opinionated, high-flying Sagittarius and Moon in playful, generous, indulgent Leo; it was the only exact aspect on Friday. Here in the US, holiday shoppers responded by enthusiastically hitting the stores and indulging in multiple material expressions of generosity. Recession? What recession? Not yesterday. How lucky for retailers! Today there may be even more things on your to-do list…or your shopping list, and I bet you’ve got all sorts of imaginative, innovative ideas on what to buy and how to accomplish buying it. Or on whatever else you are doing, if you are not shopping. And now, a word from our sponsor: if you’re looking for a gift that screams IT’S ALL ABOUT YOU!, why not give a gift certificate for an astro-logical consultation? A horoscope for a newborn baby is a lovely gift for parents, too. Contact me for details. And now, back to our program: Your inspiration and motivated, ingenious, creative problem-solving arrives courtesy of productive connections to Mercury (mind) and innovative Uranus and inspirational Neptune. Dreamy, perhaps even magical thinking prevails into the evening hours. Sunday is more practical. The need to organize, refine and perfect is suggested by Moon going into chaste, sometimes persnickety Virgo at 4:34AM NY time. A final challenge to your New Moon agenda may show up this afternoon…or be on your desk first thing Monday morning. Stay tuned… The week of October 17th-23rd was notable for a number of aspects between nebulous Neptune and other planets: Moon, Mercury, Sun and Mars. Feedback from readers was that, as anticipated, it was a bit loopy, dreamy, mystical and/or magical. I also noted this relevant, idealistic news item in my calendar on Oct. 20th: “Taliban Elite, Aided by NATO, Join in Talks for Peace” http://www.nytimes.com/2010/10/20/world/asia/20afghan.html Peace — wow – could this be true? Well, Neptune has been known to pour oil on troubled waters (in fact, it rules both). And Neptune has also been known to put on quite a show — a display of charisma — an illusion, especially if Mars is involved (which it was). Fast forward to an article that appeared minutes ago in the NY Times: “Taliban Leader in Secret Talks Was an Impostor” http://www.nytimes.com/2010/11/23/world/asia/23kabul.html?ref=world Isn’t astrology fun? If you thought Monday was busy, Tuesday looks even busier. The Moon in “need to inform and be informed” Gemini is bouncing off six planets from 12:22AM NY time until it goes void of course with a sigh at 4:56PM NY. Dizzy! More weirdness may kick in around lunchtime on the East Coast, courtesy of Neptune (again!) and innovative, eccentric, erratic Uranus. Surprise! Chill out during the void period, which ends at 8:14PM when Moon goes into emotional security-focused Cancer, where it will remain all through Thanksgiving Day — suggesting we may truly be able to express our gratitude and appreciation for the comforts of home among cherished family and friends — without the fireworks. On the other hand…I’m thinking the potentially nasty challenge from ruthless Pluto to that vulnerable Moon on Wednesday, followed by a potentially restrictive, rigid, authoritarian, control freak (shall I go on?) downer of a contact to Moon from Saturn on Wednesday evening could make for some very interesting headlines on the biggest travel day of the year, especially with a protest allegedly planned against the new “security” measures implemented by the TSA. Whatever snags you may encounter in your travels on Wednesday (and you may not encounter any at all), take comfort in the probability that when you do reach your destination, a loving and joyful experience awaits. Happy Thanksgiving!! Happy Monday! We woke up with a wobble — the Sun left Scorpio this AM and entered the sign of Sagittarius, the Archer — half man, half horse — and affectionately dubbed by yours truly as “the philosopher clown”. Why? Because Sag has opinions on just about everything and they are usually all to happy to tell you exactly what they are. These opinions, however, are usually concerned with deep, “big picture” ideas, delivered enthusiastically and with an eye on the heavens (the Archer aims his bow toward the sky — who knows why). Still, all the wisdom in the world doesn’t help when you are aiming for the stars and tripping over your four cloven “feet”; hence, “philosopher clown” (fortunately Sag has a terrific sense of humor). At any rate, be patient with yourself adjusting to the fiery shift in tone. Lots of information hitting the airwaves today, thanks to Moon in chatty Gemini. Maybe there will be talk about the illumination you may have experienced about new lines of communication made over the weekend…hmmm? Heads up for Angelenos: Moon goes void on Tuesday for three hours, starting at 1: 56…until 5:14. Try to get it done before lunch tomorrow. Several readers mentioned feeling a bit wobbly yesterday, which can happen when planets change signs and/or directions. And yesterday it was Jupiter (expansion) and Venus (social expression), moving forward after some months (Jupiter) and some weeks (Venus). Patience is required under these energetic shifts, and frankly, patience wasn’t likely on deck yesterday, with Moon in impulsive, “not now, but RIGHT NOW” Aries. Today is different. Today we have Moon in “keep things exactly as they are”, poky old stubborn Taurus. The pace may slow down and give you time to dig deep. Sensual experiences — food, music, massages — can be happily placed on your agenda tonight and through Sunday AM. Saturday you can establish material security to your heart’s content at the mall or around the home — there is no void of course Moon to interfere with your purchasing power. Do note the potential for intense verbal fencing and/or overblown opinions during the day, courtesy of a hook-up between Mercury (mind) and Mars (actions) in enthusiastic, high-flying Sagittarius. Sunday the Moon waxes full at 29 degrees of Taurus, opposing the last degree of moody bastard Scorpio. Recall your New Moon agenda of laying down or repairing lines of communication. What new light will be shed today? Here are two clues, suggested by the Sabian Symbols (some day I’ll write about where those came from): “A peacock parading on an ancient lawn” and “A Halloween jester” — and now, I’ll just quote from Blain Bovee’s book on Sabian Symbols, for a detailed description because it says it all: “Consider the genius to work beyond the struggles of power and cooperation; a balance of discriminating intelligence with intangible impressions; the ability to laugh at oneself, the see the divine humor at play in all thing; to see the humor in human folly; a genuine smile; feeling at home; a consummate attitude of ‘there is much to admire and much to smile about'” There. That’s your Full Moon illumination – may it enable you to lay down lines of communication with confidence into new frontiers. Thanks, Blain! Anyone in Congress reading this forecast? I didn’t think so. Sigh. But some day…. www.graceastrology.com — please bookmark this page and tell all your friends and relations! besides, the holidays are almost here! : ) Scanning the headlines looking for an interesting item to discuss astro-logical-ly…let’s see…”Robo-Signer’ Foreclosure Scandal May Threaten Fundamental Financial Stability” http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/11/16/robosigners-foreclosures_n_784098.html (yeah, probably, given current challenges to the US financial infrastructure by transiting Pluto (transformation, breakdown, exposure of dead wood) in Capricorn (hallowed structures of society, e.g. corporations); hmmm…. lots of articles about outraged passengers reacting to increasingly invasive security checks by robo-screening TSA personnel http://fivethirtyeight.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/11/15/the-full-body-backlash/?scp=2&sq=airport%20security&st=cse (a sneak peek of the likely intensifying clash between individual freedom (Uranus in Aries) and government control — more Pluto in Capricorn– we can expect in 2012)…and oh looky — Prince William announces engagement — and it knocks that tedious airport security kerfuffle story right off the NY Times’ home page — way to go! http://www.nytimes.com/2010/11/17/world/europe/17royal.html?src=ISMR_HP_LO_MST_FB Prince William’s engagement seems to be right on schedule in his horoscope. He’s just beginning his first Saturn return, which will conclude in about a year. If you were born in November of 1981 or June/July 1982 (like the Prince), you’re about to have a Saturn return, too. This happens to everyone around the ages of 28-30; it’s a pretty big deal — and it is defined as a “reach for ambition” according to master astrologer Noel Tyl. Suddenly 20-somethings start getting serious — about relationships, about career, about establishing themselves in the material world, and so that is exactly what they strive to do: marry, buy houses, pursue a career (as opposed to just holding down a job), etc. But William has other marriage-minded measurements currently active in his horoscope, including powerful arcs to the ruler of his 7th house (issues of marriage and other partnerships) and the ruler of his 1st house (inclining him to take on a more serious, crystalline projection of his persona). There’s also a lovely connection to his Gemini Sun (in the 7th) from Venus, ruler of his 5th (romance, creative self expression). There’s more, too — but enough already. Point is, planetary patterns have an uncanny way of reflecting life events…wonder what’s going on in YOUR horoscope? Moon is now forging ahead with impatience in me-me-me Aries — and aren’t you glad this will be the LAST day of Venus being retrograde? Miss Manners will be released from her prison Thursday afternoon, and “please” and “thank you” may yet be back in vogue. Meanwhile, giving practical consideration to those opinionated thoughts zipping around in your head is favored today, even if you have to muffle their exuberance for the sake of someone’s convention or authority. Write, revise, revise, revise, revise….maybe publish. “Up, up and away…in my beautiful balloon…” feels like no coincidence that I’d encounter this song on a evening (Monday) under the influence of a jovial connection between Sun and expansive, often high-flying Jupiter http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aoSocikOpHU&feature=related — and oh — this can’t be a coincidence, either — the recording is by The Fifth Dimension and today (Monday) I noted yet another news item about scientists being confident that the existence of other dimensions will likely be proven in a year or so — http://abcnews.go.com/Technology/wireStory?id=12152908 Angelenos, if you’re reading this after 8:37AM LA time, the Moon is void of course until 2:59 PM LA time. Maybe you overslept — or will face a more challenging commute to the office today. New Yorkers, you probably got to work just fine…and hopefully accomplished a lot before 11:37AM. The rest of your day is great for creative noodling and for taking care of routine matters. If a crisis materializes during your afternoon, I’d be willing to bet that it is much ado about nothing. Chill, float…go with the flow…listen to some groovy music…until Moon blasts into pioneering, full-speed ahead Aries at 5:59PM NY time. You may notice the shift in energy immediately as the pace picks up. Now granted, we can’t always plan our days perfectly according to the planetary patterns. Perhaps you have some Very Important Meeting scheduled this AM. Don’t panic! Just be aware of what’s going on when you’re in that meeting. Is it hard to stay focused on the meeting agenda? Is there an unexpected twist that requires you to drop your original strategy and adjust to a new game plan? If so, just roll with it — even if the twist is that the person you’re meeting with doesn’t show up– physically — or worse — mentally. You’ll have a chance to regroup later. |
