Astro-logical Forecast for Friday 7/15/2011 & the Weekend

Read yesterday’s forecast on the tension suggested by the Full Moon in Capricorn, exact at 2:40AM ET, followed by a void lasting until 4:30PM ET. Can you start your weekend early? That would be nice. Then you could transcend some of the “make it happen” overkill we are likely to see during business hours, much of it sound and fury, signifying nothing. Moon in Capricorn makes emotional investments, damn it — and it gets cranky when it doesn’t get a return.

Moon in Aquarius has a much freer, friendlier agenda. That could make for a social evening with unconventional people. The lighter mood continues on Saturday, which is the day to do your shopping and yard sale extravaganzas. Sunday at 8:23AM ET, Moon goes void again until 1:13AM ET. Chill, baby, chill..

Astro-logical Forecast for Thursday 7/14/2011

Though the work day on both coasts is free of exact planetary aspects, intensity is building to the Full Moon at 23 degrees of Capricorn, exact Friday at 2:40AM. A need to make it happen (Capricorn), using the energy of that which makes us secure (Cancer). I should have thought about that when wondering if the markets would slip a bit on yesterday’s potentially chilly challenge between controlling, fearful Saturn and Venus, which relates to money. What happened? Gold hit an all-time high. Conventional wisdom holds that when people are averse to taking risks (because they’re not feeling secure), they put their money in gold. Fascinating.

The Full Moon holds potential for more weird weather: sudden storms, winds and water. The advisory is in effect a few days before and after. Keep your grounding cords down and your noses to the grindstone. Carry an umbrella and watch out for the crazies on the roads.

Astro-logical Forecast for Wednesday 7/13/2011: Moon Void Adventures

Wet blanket Saturn poses a challenge to Venus (love, beauty and money) at 3:37AM, demanding structure, restriction or some other cold shoulder. Perhaps we’ll see that chill reflected in the financial markets — or in a continuing financial negotiation. Look what just hit the NY Times: “Hope Dwindling for Budget Compromise” http://www.nytimes.com/2011/07/13/us/politics/13fiscal.html?_r=1&hp  What a downer. Boooooo!

When the Moon enters enterprising Capricorn at 10:14AM ET, we should notice a decisive shift, especially after the over 24-hour void we experienced yesterday. What will you be working to make happen?  Inspiration may strike you in the morning hours, followed by a jolt, a surprise or other “eureka!’ moment in the late afternoon. Top it off with a strategic power play around 8:34PM ET; celebrate with earthly pleasures a couple of hours later.

Meanwhile, here’s a postcard from yesterday’s long void. Recall the basic premise: moving in a straight line is challenging. The probability of getting lost, wandering or some other twist is elevated. Did this manifest for you? How? One manifestation for me was deciding to take a different route home than I normally do. Instead of heading down the West Side Highway, I went down the FDR Drive. I was dropped off at the foot of the Roosevelt Island Tramway — which I’ve never been in, despite living in NY for ten years. What could be a more perfect time for a spontaneous travel adventure than Moon void of course in Sagittarius? If you’ve never seen the East River from this Tramway, I urge you to do it. Absolutely breath-taking. Definitely broadened my horizons, even if the twist in my usual routine did take half an hour longer to reach my destination.

Astro-logical Forecast for Tuesday 7/12/2011

The Moon is void of course all day in Sagittarius. Read the “Essays and Such” section of my website for tips on appropriate action during Moon voids. Other than that, y’all be freewheeling, while I give my Macbook time to rest and recover from its recent surprise attack by a glass of San Pellegrino. Pray that it finds the strength to reboot and function as designed.

Astro-logical Forecast for Monday 7/11/2011

If it’s Monday and the Moon is Sagittarius, you can bounce out of bed this morning. Today features a supportive connection between Mercury (mind, communication, travel) and Mars (action!) that might actually dilute the potential for Sagittarius’ typical foot-in-mouth disease, but the drive for “big picture” thinking and projects remains as strong as ever. If everyone you meet today doesn’t have an agenda, at the least they will likely have an opinion to share, the more eloquent, the better.

Today and tomorrow are also good for an adventure or other activity that broadens your horizons.

Moon is void of course all day on Tuesday and for most of Friday.

Astro-logical Forecast for Friday 7/8/2011: Rupert Murdoch

The First Quarter Moon likely brings a challenge to your New Moon agenda of “what do I really need in order to feel secure”. It happens at 2:29AM on and then goes void for 24 hours and 2 minutes with a big, long sigh. You and the members of the US Congress can mull over that deep thought…or contemplate skipping town early for the weekend. Remember, whatever “crisis” crops up during a Moon void is often a molehill turned into a mountain; try to go with the flow.

Speaking of “crisis”, Friday night features an exact opposition between loving Venus and ruthless Pluto. If you’re looking for brutal honesty, this is could be a night for it. Venus-Pluto connections can arouse intense passion — sometimes to excess. Wounded feelings (brought on by insecurities) can lead to cutting remarks — or simply being cut off. On the plus side, there are some intensely passionate and/or emotionally deep experiences that are wonderfully cathartic — or just plain wonderful. The Moon is still in relationship-oriented Libra…

Will write more on the rest of the weekend later. Meanwhile, I’m dying to hear how your Thursday went. Any surprises?  I thought there might be. I actually received an email from a Designated Authority Figure with “Surprise!” in the subject line. In the spirit of the appreciative, people-pleasing Libra Moon, ruled by sugar-loving Venus, the D.A.F. expressed thanks to his team for work well done and rewarded us with ice cream sundaes. Sweet! In other news, a commuter van containing myself and other colleagues came closerthanthis to running another car off the highway, which really would have put a crimp in our day. Surprising ups and downs — but mostly up, if you read some of the financial reports released yesterday. http://www.cnbc.com/id/15837362/site/14081545/

Another surprise twist: Rupert Murdoch suddenly shuts down the scandal-plagued tabloid News of the World. Alleged journalists are accused of hacking into the voice mail of celebrities and crime victims http://www.nytimes.com/2011/07/08/world/europe/08britain.html?hp — quite unsavory. A quick glance at Murdoch’s horoscope (Mar 11, 1931, Melbourne, Australia — time not confirmed — but perhaps 11:59PM) suggests he could be a visionary with a need for everyone to be entitled to his opinion (Moon in Sagittarius), as well as an obsession about power, perspective and how it relates to his own identity. It’s fascinating to note that in each of the last three eclipses (June 1, 15 and July 1), Murdoch had a planet or point impacted by the eclipse (Midheaven at 11 Virgo, Moon at 24 Sag and Jupiter at 10 Cancer). Something  in his sphere had to build up — and be released — dramatically! Restrictive Saturn and disruptive Uranus are also quite active in the horoscope, in patterns that suggest, among other things, a sudden break or illumination.

Astro-logical Forecast for Saturday & Sunday 7-9-10/2011

Moon entered moody bastard Scorpio Saturday at 2:31AM ET, where its need for knowledge for the sake of power and control was perhaps softened by jollier, more indulgent —  and also more constructive, less obstructionist —  influences. If you were hammering out an idea, seeking to give form to your inspiration — well, good on you. If you were out having a grand time in fine company, that likely worked, too.

Other news of note: innovative, rebellious Uranus turned retrograde at 8:36PM ET — not to turn direct until Dec 9. If you want to start a revolution during this time, the energy might be better directed at shaking up your own personal world instead of raising a ruckus directed at others. When planets are in retrograde, whatever is associated with that planet is more likely to be up for review and repair than it is to be moving forward at a clip. So here’s your three-week advance notice: Mercury, which relates to travel, communication, mind and gizmos,  turns direct on August 2nd at 11:50PM — and the Moon will be void-of-course — in Virgo all day. Verrrrry interesting.Think about backing up your computers in the next couple of weeks.

On Sunday, the Moon goes void at 9:05AM ET — but on a harmonious connection with the Sun, which is the only exact aspect of the day. In anticipation of that — hello! — August 2nd deadline, President Obama is hosting another debt/budget pow-wow at the White House. Well, it could be a productive brainstorming session, though Wednesday/Thursday might be more likely days to see things start to happen — one way or the other.

Astro-logical Forecast for Thursday 7/7/2011: “The Year of Revolutions” (1848)

Read yesterday’s forecast for notes on today’s dynamic, proactive, transformational and quite possibly surprising planetary patterns. Watch how they’ll be reflected in the headlines and in your own personal world.

As promised, an answer to another reader’s query, which should put current planetary patterns in perspective:

“Love your analysis of current events according to the astrological configurations. I’ve been itching to throw this one at you to see what you make of it.  How does the current astrological formation of ‘the big square’ compare with ‘The Year of Revolutions’ in 1848? The ‘Arab Spring’ seems to have its parallel in the the ‘Springtime of Nations’.”

Just in case you aren’t familiar with this part of European history there is a wiki page here; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Revolutions_of_1848.

Great question, dear reader. By “the big square,” I assume you are referring to the pattern I’ve been calling (glibly) The Big T-Square Party Among the Heavies: Pluto, Uranus and Saturn. These slow-moving planets have been moving toward each other like tectonic plates over the past year. When these heavies make contact, big things happen in the world. Right now transformational Pluto is in Capricorn, approaching a series of seven exact squares to disruptive Uranus in Aries over the next three years.  Controlling Saturn is in Libra, squaring Pluto and opposing Uranus. We’ve seen this manifest as a conflict between the old guard and the new guard (recall the entire theme of the US elections of 2008), followed by serious power struggles for control of resources (recall the entire theme of the US elections of 2010).

In 1848, we saw Pluto, Uranus and Saturn crashing into each other in the sign of Aries. Interesting that Aries is associated with “springtime”, as in “Springtime of Nations”.  A ‘Year of Revolutions”? You bet! Astrologers anticipate major upheavals when Uranus and Pluto connect. In the US we saw pioneers (Aries) head to California in search of gold, while women began to rally for equal rights in Seneca Falls (disruption of the status quo).

In the early 30s, we had Uranus in Aries squared by Pluto in Cancer and Saturn in Capricorn. We had a major economic upheaval in the US. Hitler was on the rise in Germany. In the mid-60s, we had Uranus conjunct Pluto in Virgo, opposed by Saturn in Pisces. We saw civil rights and other protests against The Establishment. In China, Mao Zedong spearheaded a little gathering known as The Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cultural_Revolution.

By now you must all be dying to know how Uranus, Pluto and Saturn are operating in your unique horoscope. Why not consider booking an appointment for a personal consultation?

Astro-logical Forecast for Wednesday 7/6/2011: Obama’s Horoscope July 2011

Re-read yesterday’s forecast. Moon is void of course, “freefalling” in perfectionist Virgo, countered by a strong, supportive aspect between constructive Saturn and assertive Mars. This can be a highly productive day. Special memo to the US Congress: this is an excellent time to refine your homework assignment  on resolving the US debt crunch, in preparation for your big meeting with President Obama on Thursday. Write a three-paragraph essay on the major transformation of perspective/philosophy you are going to have regarding material resources. Thursday’s exact connection between ruthless Pluto and expansive Jupiter demands it.
I’m getting ahead of myself with thoughts on Thursday, but here they are:  Moon will be in Libra, sign of “make nice with others”, rational debate and striving to find a balance (while swinging wildly from one side to the other). The need for appreciation (of everyone’s position) will likely rule, even as feelings are knocked around throughout the day, as suggested by the planetary heavies: Pluto, Uranus and Saturn challenging that Libra Moon. I anticipate unusual, innovative — perhaps even shocking — attractions and alliances — not limited to the big powwow at the White House (disruptive Uranus is challenging Venus, planet of love, money and social expression). Perhaps we’ll see something wild or quirky in the financial markets, too.

Warning: ruthless Pluto opposes Venus on Friday night.  Could be witchy-bitchy. Ouch.

Of course it doesn’t take an astrologer to appreciate how big the stakes are for Obama this month. But it does take an astrologer to see those stakes clearly confirmed by the planetary patterns in his horoscope. Ruthless Pluto exerting pressure on controlling Saturn in Obama’s horoscope suggests this is a time of intensely hard work, under the threat of great loss (I’ve mentioned this particular pattern in previous forecasts).  This pattern is exact on July 26th. Whether you agree with his policies or not, it is highly unlikely that he is slacking off on the job.

And now that I’ve pretty much covered the whole week, perhaps I’ll have time tomorrow to answer a reader’s query about world events in 1848. Yes, there is an obvious similarity in the patterns that were active then compared to the patterns happening now. Stay tuned…

Astro-logical Forecast for Tuesday 7/5/2011

Tuesday offers the opportunity for an efficient attack on whatever is on your desk. Use the Moon in discerning, perfecting Virgo to organize and refine the more than one big idea that strikes you — or the headlines this morning. But while thinking big, be careful not to overpromise or issue royal edicts,  even though an exuberant aspect between Mercury (mind) in regal Leo and expansive Jupiter in stubborn, material Taurus may tempt you to do so.  That aspect is exact at 2:09PM ET, followed by potentially snippy communique, suggested by a challenge to Moon from willful Mars.

If you can reach a consensus or ship it today, do so. Moon goes void at 8:19PM ET, not to enter Libra until 11:54PM Wednesday. Countering the normal “freefall” quality of the Moon void is an exceptionally efficient connection between energetic Mars and disciplined Saturn is exact tomorrow at 8:17AM ET. While signing on the dotted line or formally launching any project you wish to be of consequence is not recommended, you can still be quite productive. Just be advised that departures from the normal routine and/or efforts to move in a straight line are more vulnerable to unexpected twists and a higher flake factor than usual. Double check your technology and go with the flow.
