Thursday 5/31/2018: In Brief, the Angst of Pluto on Saturn

Alll-righty then!

I have half an hour to kill before boarding a plane back to New York. Let’s see how much we can get accomplished. Getting things done and taking care of business is the name of the game on a this day driven by the Moon in “make it happen” Capricorn. Connect with your inner CEO!

This week we’re feeling the potential bliss of a rare harmony among Venus, Jupiter and Neptune. The technical term is “grand trine.” This ease of connection facilitates and amplifies matters related to women, money, art, social expression, faith, oil, drugs, scandal and most of all — EXPANSION — for better or for worse. For example, there is such a thing as too much water if you happen to be caught in a flood — and floods are a potential with this grand trine involving planets in Water Signs. On the other hand, the Illinois might be feeling so generous towards women and their economic status, that it might finally ratify the Equal Rights Amendment — 95 years after it had the chance to do so. Which it did! Gee, thanks, Illinois. Where were you 36 years ago, when there was a deadline to make this the law of the entire country?

And now, the news.

We talked about Roseanne Barr’s horoscope at the end of March:

Roseanne Barr is all over the news. The revival of her sitcom — Roseanne — has gotten rave reviews, with initial ratings to match.  What’s going on in her horoscope?  She’s a Scorpio, driven by the Moon in  Gemini, needing to be the cleverest, most intensely entertaining gal in the room, even if what comes out of her mouth is boundary-pushing and sloppy.  It needs to be with her Gemini Moon opposed by Mercury in Sagittarius. Her Scorpio Sun is currently under the expansive potential of Jupiter— soon to hit the top of  her horoscope this fall.  This adds to the bigness she needs to express in everything she is, suggested by her natal Jupiter (in comfort-seeking Taurus) opposing her natal Sun.  Her Ascendant is Aquarius, suggesting a need to be seen as a humanitarian — if perhaps in a somewhat eccentric, detached way.  Militant, explosive, innovative, fanatical and charismatic — an odd mix of the old guard and avant garde —  is suggested in a tense pattern among her Mars, Saturn, Neptune and Uranus. Those planets have been or will soon be supercharged by transiting Pluto.  We see the potential for persuasive action and disruption in the recent past, with a tremendous effort required now through 2019 that may be somewhat angst-driven.  We shall see.

Now I confess that when I wrote “somewhat angst-driven,” it was a deliberate understatement. The measurement suggesting more than “somewhat” angst-driven is a challenging connection between transiting Pluto and Saturn, exact on March 8 (just before the launch of her new TV show), and on June 8th (right after her show was cancelled). You did hear that the show was cancelled, yes? Just hours after she compared Valerie Jarrett (who is African-American), to an ape on Twitter?  And then blamed it on Ambien? The next hit of Pluto to Saturn happens next January. In Roseanne’s horoscope, Pluto refers to her career and public status; Saturn refers to matters of self-doing.  I doubt Roseanne is gone for good — and may well be back with another broadcasting/publishing/theatrical effort early next year.  Fun fact: racism is not a known side effect of Ambien, says the maker of Ambien.

You know who else is having a challenging aspect between Pluto and Saturn — in effect from the first of the year for the next several months — and exact at the end of April? Melania Trump.  We don’t have a birth time for Mrs. Trump, but it’s possible that her Moon is in early Capricorn, in which case we can see the potential for an ambitious reach (upside) or feelings of isolation and loss (downside) added to the extreme effort required by the tension between Pluto and Saturn. Today, transiting Mars is opposing her Taurus Sun, suggesting a need for action and assertion. And guess what? After not being seen in public for 20 days, her Twitter feed sent out a tweet asserting all was well.   However Mrs. Trump may be feeling, her horoscope appears to be functioning as designed. Astrology is amazing.  Fun fact: P45 will have a challenging measurement between Pluto and Saturn all through 2020.

But perhaps you would rather talk about your horoscope? When are you up for a challenging Pluto-Saturn adventure? It’s good to be prepared and plan ahead. Here is the 411 on personal consultations. We will have an excellent discussion together.

Thank you for reading this forecast. Gotta fly!

Monday 5/28/2018 & So Forth: Sneak Peek at the Week; Hello from Chicago!

Happy Memorial Day Weekend and greetings from the Big Fat Astrology Conference in Chicago! What fun it is to hang with hundreds of people from all over the world who speak the language of astrology. And Chicago is awesome!

The Moon is in Scorpio, driving the day with a need for depth, substance and control — but it’s softened by lovely harmonies to the Moon from Venus, Jupiter and Neptune. The last two aspects will be exact between 3:30 and 4:30 PM ET, setting the tone for a potentially enchanted evening. On Monday, Moon goes void at 1:25 PM ET until 6:29 PM ET. Chill and roll with any twists or flakes that may interfere with your efforts to move forward in a straight line.

Once Moon moves into Sagittarius, see if you notice the fiery lift, as boundaries seek to be pushed and opinions seek to be righteously expressed. Emotions will be on the rise, suggested by the Full Moon in Sag at 10:19 AM ET on TUESDAY. If you have a planet or angle around 8 degrees of Sag, Gemini, Virgo or Pisces, you’re likely feeling the push for expression more than most. Let the record show that in the Full Moon chart set in Washington DC, we see Uranus on the Midheaven — and square to the 0 degree Aquarius Sun of P45’s inaugural chart. Think upsets and chaos for all the world to see.

The rest of the week goes like this:

  • On TUESDAY at 7:49 PM ET, Mercury — how we need to think and communicate — leaves ponderous Taurus for quicksilver Gemini, the sign it rules.  This is an opportune time for negotiation and effective communication, especially with a rare harmony happening at the end of the week among Venus, Jupiter and Neptune. Ask for what you want — you just might get it.
  • Moon goes void of course  on a tense pattern with Neptune at 2:26 AM ET on WEDNESDAY. It won’t enter the next sign — Capricorn — until 5:26 AM ET on THURSDAY. Note your dreams (courtesy of Neptune) and take care of routine concerns. Remember that crises that crop up during voids are usually much ado about nothing. They have an odd way of vanishing once the Moon is back in gear. If you are not familiar with Moon voids, here’s a primer.
  • THURSDAY is driven by the Moon in Capricorn, perfect for taking care of business. Note the potential for an authoritarian advance or wet blanket around 8:53 PM ET, when the Moon meets up with taskmaster Saturn. But hey – it’s might not be so heavy, as on…
  • FRIDAY, that high-functioning Mercury will be in harmony with Mars in Aquarius (a rebel looking for a cause?). That happens at 10:13 AM ET, and is quickly followed by a lovely harmony between a high-functioning Venus and Jupiter in Scorpio. Venus refers to women, art, social expression and money. It’s in Cancer now — with a focus on nurturing  and emotional security. Jupiter is still in Scorpio — seeking to expand and purge a lot of dirty laundry. Here we have the potential for just deserts — or maybe desserts, too — as Venus-Jupiter aspects can be literally sweet.
  • Friday night may include a power play or emotional catharsis, as Pluto makes its weekly clash with the Moon at 11:37 PM ET. It then goes void for most of SATURDAY – – not to enter Aquarius until 6:06 PM ET. What to do in this long-void? NO impulse shopping, if you please! Tune in to the third leg of the three-part harmony among Venus, Jupiter and Neptune when Venus trines Neptune at 4:26 AM ET. Make some beautiful music.
  • The technical term for the harmony among Venus, Jupiter and Neptune is “Grand Trine.” All planets involved are in Water Signs: Cancer, Scorpio and Neptune, respectively. The upside potential is abundance and bliss. The downside potential is also abundance, especially if you live in a flood zone. I kid you not. Please stay safe.

If you would like to receive these posts about the astonishing synchronicity of planetary patterns and daily headlines — a.k.a., astrology for news junkies, you can have them delivered to your emailbox by filling out this form.

And now, the news.

I promised you stories of thought and speech making news, with Mercury engaged with a plethora of players, aided and abetted by an athletic harmony between Sun and Mars. OK?

  • The NFL announced it will fine players who take a knee during the national anthem. One team owner — Christopher Johnson of the NY Jets — says he’ll pick up the tab for his players.  “I never want to put restrictions on the speech of our players,” he said. “There are some big, complicated issues that we’re all struggling with, and our players are on the front lines. I don’t want to come down on them like a ton of bricks, and I won’t. There will be no club fines or suspensions or any sort of repercussions. If the team gets fined, that’s just something I’ll have to bear.”
  • In the obit section we find, “Philip Roth, Towering Novelist Who Explored Lust, Jewish Life and America, Dies at 85.”  File that “Jewish life” part under last week’s faith-based Jupiter-Neptune trine.

P45’s  on-again, off-again June 12th summit with North Korea is on again — and no one should be surprised. As noted here before, that week looks like a banner one for P45 — and no tantrum calling the whole show off is likely to derail it. However, in keeping with the “Mercury in focus” theme of last week’s patterns, let the record show that P45’s letter to Kim Jong-un — riddled with grammatical errors and other tortured forms of English — was corrected by a retired school teacher and mailed back to the White House. [Correction: P45’s letter to Kim was not corrected and sent back by a schoolteacher, but by most of the Free World. The teacher corrected and sent back a letter that was addressed to her. Apologies for any confusion.)

Meanwhile, we had an exact Jupiter-Neptune trine on Friday, suggesting matters of faith  and scandal would be in headlines. Add in Saturday’s exact opposition to Venus in Cancer from Saturn in Capricorn, and what did we get? Saturn-Venus aspects can be mean-spirited in matters related to women, money, art and social expression. But they also can reflect women stepping up and seizing authority. Thus, in Ireland we see a landslide victory for women taking on the patriarchal controls of the Catholic church: abortion is no longer illegal.  I wish I had time to look at Ireland’s horoscope. Elsewhere, Harvey Weinstein was arrested on charges of rape — and it was gratifying to see him led in handcuffs by a woman cop.

But about that mean-spirited potential of Saturn opposing Venus:  “The U.S. Lost Track of 1475 Immigrant Children Last Year.” and  “ACLU Report: Detained Immigrant Children Subjected to Widespread Abuse”  . Against that cruel backdrop, the internets are outraged over a warm and fuzzy photo posted by Ivanka cuddling her two-year-old son.

Last, but not least, a PSA. Have you rebooted your router yet? Do it now, says the FBI. Your router may be infected.

Stay tuned for more news…and thank you for reading this forecast. I will be heading back to New York on June 1st —  and would be delighted to discuss your horoscope. Here’s how to contact me.

Monday 5/21/2018: Sneak Peek at the Week; Mercury in Focus; Jupiter Trine Neptune, Part 2

Good Morning!

The Moon is void of course in Leo all day. It started at 11:30 PM ET last night and won’t get into gear until it enters Virgo at  10:03 PM ET tonight. A Leo Moon needs incessant love, love, love — along with no small amount of drama. Regal Leo needs to shine — and if they are happy and shining, everyone else gets to shine, too. That’s the upside. The downside? Leo Moon can be a royal pain. I challenge you to play to the upside today. Pay someone a compliment. Chill out over any twists and flakes that may disrupt your efforts to move forward in a straight line. Find an excuse to celebrate someone or something and take a long lunch. I’m playing to the upside tonight with a group of friends and colleagues who are gathering to raise a glass to celebrate the life of Avid Reader Frank (who will surely be smiling down on us as we toast). Cheers!

It’s a busy week in the cosmos. Here’s the line-up:

  • Tonight at 11:49 PM– the First Quarter Moon between the Gemini Sun and the Virgo Moon. This is a challenge to the macho New Moon agenda set last Tuesday.
  • Tuesday at 10:14 PM ET — Mercury in harmony with Neptune, facilitating romantic notions and other forms of idealized thought and communication…big time…suggested by…
  • Wednesday at 1:54 AM ET — Mercury in a face off with expansive Jupiter. Big news in publishing and media? Big leaps of faith? Watch for them….
  • Wednesday at 10;39 PM ET — the Sun in harmony with Mars in “rebel with a cause” Aquarius. Here we have this week’s big thoughts supported by action.
  • Wednesday at 10:55 AM ET until 2:52 AM ET on THURSDAY — a long Moon void in Virgo. Why are we getting these really long voids? Because Uranus isn’t hanging out at the end of Aries anymore. It’s at 0 degrees of Taurus.  And  most of the other planets are in the early degrees in their respective signs.
  • Friday at 5:49 AM ET — the second trine (harmony) between Jupiter and Neptune. We’ve been seeing that in the news for weeks in the expansion (Jupiter) of news involving faith, spiritual leaders, scandal, drugs, oil, etc. (Neptune)
  • Friday at 9:36 AM ET — Mercury in harmony with Pluto, digging up corruption and other dirt
  • Friday at 5:03 PM ET — the Libra Moon goes void until 9:39 AM ET on SATURDAY.
  • Saturday at 2:40 AM ET — Venus (women, art, money, social values) in a chilly opposition with Saturn (patriarchy, control, misers). No doubt we’ll have a woman of steel or two making news.

And now, the news.

I just got back from a quick jaunt to Tryon, North Carolina. Meant to post a weekend forecast, but was distracted by heavy heavy storms on the mountain where I was staying. Think floods and mudslides and thank goodness there were no heavy heavy winds to fell too many trees. Power and water were knocked out — though not in the home of my gracious hosts, who had the foresight to put in a well and a generator some years before. We were lucky — others not so lucky, with portions of roads, and houses and landscaping washed away. One woman died. Guess what was going on in the chart for the New Moon, set in Tryon, NC? Neptune — amplified by this slow-moving trine to Jupiter — was exactly square the Ascendant. Neptune suggests floods — and bewilderment.

Just came across another  headline — this one from Bessemer City, an hour’s drive from Tryon — and on the way to the airport in Charlotte.  Yesterday a  62-year-old businessman named Roger Self took his family to lunch, excused himself from the table…and rammed his Jeep into the restaurant, killing two family members. As stories of murder and mayhem go, I found this one especially  bewildering and consistent with the potential in the New Moon chart set in Bessemer City  — and in the chart for the time of the incident: 12:04 PM on May 20, 2018 in Bessemer City, NC.  In the event chart we see Mars, Jupiter, Mercury, Moon and Neptune in touch with the angles of the horoscope.  Planets on the angles of a chart correspond to action in the world.

From the Gaston Gazette, linked at the start of this paragraph:

While many know the 62-year-old Self as a faithful church-going family man who owned a successful private investigation and loss management company, Southeastern Loss Management Inc., friends say he had been battling depression and mental illness that left him almost unrecognizable to those closest to him.

I argue that this story reflects the tragic potential of current planetary patterns.  And there are plenty of other macho upsets and buzz — suggested by last’s week square between Mars (yang, anger, action, war, guns) and rebel Uranus — to report:

  • More school shootings — one where ten people were killed — this one in Santa Fe, Texas. Santa Fe? That means “holy faith,”  says Wikipedia. Hardly a coincidence it seems, with that ongoing spiritually-focused Jupiter-Neptune trine. There was another school shooting in Atlanta.
  • Kilauea continues to erupt in Hawaii
  • Aaron Schlossberg — arguably one of the ugliest Americans living in New York — made news when he screamed at two women who were speaking Spanish in a local take-out joint. Because it’s his country, got that? New Yorkers responded by trashing his law firm on Yelp and organizing a Friday fiesta outside his apartment, complete with mariachi band.  New York is able to absorb such outbursts — and make fun of them —  because we are such a diverse city.  Did you know that over 160 languages are spoken in Queens?  I wish I spoke them all!

But this need for fear and control of a perceived “other” — someone who is “not like us” — is no laughing matter. It is sickening to read that in Montana this weekend, two American women speaking Spanish in a convenience store were detained by a Border Patrol agent demanding to see ID.  Why? Because they were speaking Spanish! There are far too many other examples of insane intolerance of “People Who Are Not Like Us” in the news, e.g, police officers being called to investigate an African-American grad student who fell asleep in a dorm common room at Yale. Putting it in an astrological perspective, current planetary patterns are similar to patterns we had in the early 1930s. Must we repeat this pattern in exactly the same way?  Please don’t make me say “I told you this would happen” two to three years from now.

Which leads to this obvious question:  “Are you registered to vote?” If not, here’s a link you can share with your friends — do show up with them at the polls on November 6th.

We now return to our regularly scheduled forecast.

Planetary patterns over the weekend offered prominent beauty, women and social expression presented with an embrace of the unconventional. And here I would be talking about Saturday’s ingress of Venus (women, beauty, social expression) into Cancer — at the Aries Point...followed by a harmony with Uranus. Nothing says “can’t we all just get along” more than Venus in harmony with Uranus — and what a perfect backdrop it was for the wedding of Meghan Markle to her own Prince Harry.  Swoon! Here are the official portraits of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Mazel tov!

Avid Readers may remember the 2017-2019 forecast for the British royal family posted here last August.   The theme was disruption and fresh starts — and so far, we’re right on track, with more to come.

Shall we focus on a few uplifting headlines reflecting the positive potential of planetary patterns?

  • “That you are gay does not matter,” says Pope Francis to a survivor of sexual abuse. “God made you like this” — and loves you as much as anyone. Thank you, Venus sextile Uranus, combined with the healing potency of Jupiter trine Neptune.
  • “Jesus never charged a leper a co-pay:” The rise of the religious left.  I believe that quote was fact-checked and it’s true.
  • This story salutes Mercury’s (information) dominance in the headlines this week, combined with the intangible quality of Neptune: “How to Disappear From the Internet”
  • We’ve been talking about the intense BUZZ suggested by Mars square to far-out Uranus. Another alien asteroid invader has been discovered in our solar system. Working name: “BZ” — I kid you not.

That’s the latest for now. Today I pack my bags again and head to Chicago tomorrow. I’m excited to be presenting a talk at the United Astrology Conference on Friday. The topic: “So What If You’re Dead? The Horoscope Lives Forever.” If you are planning to be at UAC, I hope to see you on Friday!

Thank you for reading this forecast. If you’d like to know what all of these patterns mean for you personally, here’s how to schedule a consultation.

Tuesday 5/15/2018: Sneak Peek at a Big Week; New Moon in Taurus; Uranus in Taurus Squares Mars in Aquarius

Ohhhh-kay!

Big week in the cosmos — can you feel the buzz? How is traffic? Trains running smoothly and on time?  Bwahahaha.

Here’s what’s happening:

The Moon is in Taurus, seeking material comfort and stability. It’s a dead Moon — the last day of the lunar cycle. So if you noticed the buzz but also felt restless or listless, feeling as if something new was just around the corner, that’s not uncommon under a dead Moon. What’s it good for? Wrapping up chores, plotting plots and other Secret Squirrel escapades you’d rather not be brought to light.

On TUESDAY at 7:48 AM ET we’ll have the New Moon at 24 degrees of Taurus, right on P45’s Midheaven. Yes, this next lunar cycle puts his public status in focus — and by extension, that of the United States. We’ll get to the New Moon in a moment.

The really big buzz is as follows:

  • 11:23 AM ET on TUESDAY, rebel Uranus ditches Aries for Taurus. Over the next seven years, look for innovation, liberation and disruption is all Taurus-ruled concerns: banking, currency, food, pleasures of the senses, agriculture, the whole concept of possession (vs. renting or vs. community ownership). Perhaps we’ll see innovation and advances in the treatment of thyroid and throat disorders, too. Taurus is an Earth sign, so I would not be surprised if earth-shaking incidents demand our attention.
  • Mars leaves Capricorn and enters Aquarius on WEDNESDAY at 12:55 AM ET. I hope you like the idea of Mars being in Aquarius, because except for a few weeks starting on August 13th (when Mars returns to Capricorn), we’re stuck with Mars in Aquarius until November 16th. One of my teachers calls Mars in Aquarius the “rebel with a cause.”  So we can expect action in the headlines involving rebellious and/or humanitarian concerns, some of which will have a technogeeky (Aquarius) or “on the fringe” flavor. Think aviation, circuitry, freedom, astrology, outer space, uranium, what’s allegedly “best for everyone”.  Those sorts of things.
  • These two planets changing signs starts off with a likely bang. Why? Because two hours after Mars enters Aquarius, it makes the first of three squares to Uranus, suggesting a release of tension. What kind of tension? Possibly explosive, seismic, disruptive, ground-breaking, seismic, innovative, genius or mutating. When do the other two squares happen? On August 6th and September 18th. So let’s see how events happening this week are reported in the news around those two dates.

After the mid-week excitement, we’ll be ready for serious contemplation, suggested by FRIDAY’s harmony between Mercury in ponderous Taurus and Saturn in PTB Capricorn.  Couple that with a harmony between Venus and Uranus, exact on SATURDAY at 1:29 PM ET. Watch for prominent couplings involving unconventional attractions, as Venus will be at the Aries Point as it leaves Gemini for Cancer (also on SATURDAY). Avid Readers will recall that planets at the Aries Point (0 degrees of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn need to attract attention).

Does this sound like an apt pattern to have at the royal wedding of Prince Harry with Meghan Markle? Do you think an astrologer helped them pick that date? I hope they’re starting the ceremony after 7:34 AM ET, when the sensitive Cancer Moon is opposed by patriarchal Saturn (not the easiest pattern for intimacy, though the sense of duty and responsibility suggested does fit).  Still,  we’re not past the disruptive Mars-Uranus square yet, and even the royal wedding was hit by an upset today. Meghan Markle’s father will not be attending — surprise, surprise.

Humming in the background of it all is the harmony (trine) between retrograde Jupiter in Scorpio and Neptune in Pisces. It’ll be exact on May 25th. Issues pulling focus between now and then include: blood, charity, refugees, drugs, oil, scandal, spirits of all kinds, faith. The contact with Jupiter suggests expansion.

Your Moon voids for the week — not many and not for long. Tuesday 4:30- 4:43 PM ET; Thursday 2:18 PM – 5:47 PM ET; Saturday 5:14 PM – 7:11 PM ET.

Anyhoo…

About Tuesday’s New Moon. When we set it in Washington DC (and most of the East Coast), it falls in the 12th House, suggesting a lot going on behind the scenes.  At 24 Taurus, the Sun and Moon are conjunct the fixed star Capulus, which refers to male sexual/aggressive energy. Is that a banana in your pocket or are you just happy to see me? So there’s much seed-planting potential here that is driven by yang energy, as opposed to yin. P45, as noted above, has Capulus right on his Midheaven — his public status. Others with Capulus active in their horoscope include Roger Ailes, Reince Priebus, Gretchen Carlson, Mick Jagger and David Crosby. Hillary Clinton has her North Node at 24 Taurus.

The Sabian Symbol for this New Moon is “a large well-kept public park.” Sabian Symbol Sage Blain Bovee describes this as “an image of the collective efforts of society that create a space for enjoyment well beyond the scope of any individual’s efforts.” We are advised to be mindful of the creative efforts that are behind a “well-groomed presentation,”– as opposed to the people who exist solely to grab the limelight. Hmmm.

You are more personally affected by the seed-planting potential of this New Moon if you have a planet or angle around 24 degrees of Scorpio, Leo, Aquarius and especially Taurus. Consult your local astrologer for details.

And now, the news.

  • First, a big blood story — as in big blood donor.  James Harrison — Australia’s ‘Man With The Golden Arm’ Retires After Saving 2.4 Million Babies.  “I hope it’s a record that somebody breaks,” Harrison told the Blood Service. Harrison was born on December 27, 1936 — no birth time available. We see his generous spirit suggested by an exact conjunction of his Capricorn Sun with Jupiter. Lovely!

Not-so-lovely — but still reflecting planetary patterns. Avid Readers are well aware that current patterns in P45’s horoscope suggest a need for risky action in matters of foreign affairs. So sure, why not move the U.S. embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem and recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel? On a Mars-Uranus square, it’s sure to be seen as an act inspiring peace and diplomacy, right? Ermm… no.

“Critics say the move, which broke from almost seven decades of United States policy, could risk peace negotiations between Israelis and Palestinians, who both claim Jerusalem as their capital. Mass protests broke out along the border fence with Gaza…”

…resulting in this: “Israel Kills Dozens at Border as U.S. Embassy Opens in Jerusalem.”  Or, as WaPo columnist Dana Milbank put it, “Nothing Says Peace Like 58 Dead Palestinians.”  (Mars in a tense aspect with Uranus is born to shock). And how perfectly reflective of planetary patterns  it is to  have this:  “Pastor Who Said Jews are Going to Hell Led Prayer at Jerusalem Embassy Opening.”  Though to be fair,  Robert Jeffress (the pastor in question) thinks almost everyone is doomed,  so… Meanwhile, “An Evangelical Journalist Finds His Calling at the White House.”

Another foreign policy shocker: “In About-Face on Trade, Trump Vows to Protect Jobs….in China.”   Meanwhile, we  learn that China is contributing $500 million to a P45-related project in Indonesia.

In other news, “Maverick Cleric’s Election Upset Could Rattle U.S.-Iraq Relations”

Meanwhile…

Mars-Uranus refers to aviation disruptions. Exhibit A: Did anyone watch “60 Minutes” last night? They did a feature on MH370 — the Malaysian Airlines plane that was lost over the Indian Ocean four years ago. Apparently investigators are now convinced that the pilot deliberately downed the plane…a theory proposed in 2015 and supported in the horoscope for the plane’s departure.  Exhibit B:  “Airline dynasty crashes to earth in latest scandal to hit South Korean elite”

UPDATE: Monica Lewinsky. Told ya a week or so ago that her horoscope was hot. Sure enough,  Town & Country invited her to an event. Then, because Bill Clinton was also invited, T&C withdrew the invitation. Now it’s all over the news. Astrology is amazing.

Thank you for reading this forecast.

Thursday 5/10/2018: Beauty and the Beasts; News From Underground

Alll-righty then!

No lengthy Moon voids this week to diffuse your plans for world domination. Keep on truckin’! Today the Moon continues its sojourn in Pisces, seeking to identify ideals, work with impressions and go with the flow. Moon is well-supported by input from other planets between now and Friday, as well as a power-consolidating harmony between Sun and Pluto, exact on FRIDAY at 7:07 PM ET. Keep an eye on whoever is in charge.  Between now and Sunday, patterns among Mercury, Mars and Uranus suggest communications from the PTB that may be innovative or simply disruptive/explosive.  Adding to the fire: the Moon’s shift into me-me-me Aries at 8:40 AM on FRIDAY, forging ahead and falling down stairs (because it’s faster than walking) until mid-afternoon on SUNDAY.

Meanwhile, it was delightful to meet a few New York Avid Readers who turned out for my talk at Quest Book Shop on Tuesday. Huzzah! If you missed it and you’re going to UAC (a.k.a. the Big Fat Astrology Conference in Chicago), you can catch “So What If You’re Dead? The Horoscope Lives Forever” at 1 PM on Friday, May 25th. I love to travel!

And now, the news.

Did I say this would be a boisterous week? Add in bombastic, too — reflecting the potential of Tuesday’s face-off between the Sun and expansive Jupiter. When have we seen patterns like this before? On February 9th, when Jupiter and the Sun were in a tense square. Here’s the forecast for that day — along with headlines that were demanding our attention. Note the similarities? Also note that the Sun and Jupiter will square off again on August 6th, five days after the second Mars-Uranus square. Venus will be at the Aries Point on August 6th, suggesting prominent headlines involving women, art, money, social expression. Uranus will be stationary retrograde, suggesting significant news reflecting these themes: disruptive, revolutionary, tech breakthroughs, aviation, astrology, mutations, shocks to the system, including seismic activity. Mark your calendars.

Meanwhile, P45 continues to operate exactly as anticipated in earlier forecasts. From January 5th:

A need for heavy thoughts kicks in by mid-March through May, courtesy of transiting Saturn (control) opposing P45’s Mercury. That can feel isolating/depressing, and it returns for a final hit at the end of the year. Humming along in tandem with the heavy thoughts is a tense pattern between transiting Saturn (ambition, fear, control) and his Neptune (vision, deception, fog). This can be bewildering. Building to a peak in June we see a need for risk and excitement —  for better or for worse. From his perspective, it will likely feel exuberant and indulgent, given corroborating patterns exact on his birthday.

P45’s birthday is June 14th. What are the key patterns on his solar return? (Not in his solar return, mind you — that is a separate chart, which will be discussed in a future forecast). One is between Uranus and Mars, suggesting impulsive, daring, risky and/or breakthrough action on a global scale — and this pattern has been in effect for a couple of months. The other is a measurement between Venus and Jupiter, in effect now through June. That suggests exuberance, indulgence — and no small amount of luck. Did you hear that a date has been set for a summit between P45 and Kim Jong-un — on June 12th? Do you really think this date is a coincidence? The Venus-Jupiter measurement (secondary progression, for astropros reading this) perfectly reflects talk of him meriting a Nobel Peace Prize.   Will those who make Nobel Peace Prize decisions take into account that — reckless or not — this week P45 smashed up the Iran deal made among the U.S. and its allies?  Iran and Israel now seem to be lobbing missiles at each other (via Syria).   But at least oil is up (Pluto trine Sun) which means gas prices will increase — and that’s good news for Russia.

Looking ahead to the New Moons on May 15th and June 13th, we see the former at 24 Taurus, right on P45’s Midheaven. The latter is at 22 Gemini, conjunct his Sun and opposing his Sag Moon. It’s his world; we just live in it — for at least the next couple of months. On the other hand, we are seeing the potential squeeze of the second hit of transiting Saturn opposing his Mercury-Neptune square, suggesting a hardnosed, mean, ambitious, authoritarian and/or reality check on the intuitive and fanciful way he needs to think. Exhibit A: As of May 2nd, P45 has told 3001 lies since his inauguration — in public, anyway.  Of course we are getting this news now. Exhibit B: musing about taking press credentials away from journalists who write stories he doesn’t like. Exhibit C — reflective of the squeeze in P45’s chart and overall planetary patterns:  revelations about hundreds of thousands of dollars funneled to fixer Michael Cohen’s shell company (Essential Consultants), allegedly “for access” to P45. Who paid the money?  Columbus Nova (a company linked to a Russian oligarch), along with AT& T (?!?!) and Novartis, among others.

Fun fact: Mr. Cohen is still on board as deputy finance chairman of the Republican National Committee.

Meanwhile…

Is there anything truly fun and frothy to report, reflecting planetary patterns? Yes! Remember I told you how we’d see aesthetic ideals, along with faith and spiritual leaders, suggested by Venus and Jupiter in contact with Neptune? The theme of this week’s costume gala at the Met was “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.”Look at these divinely inspired dresses! Not so fun and frothy, but related to the Met: Harvey Weinstein’s soon-to-be ex-wife — fashion designer Georgina Chapman — breaks her silence. How could she not have known? I don’t know, but in her horoscope — no birth time available — we see the potential for a startling, sobering wake-up call, with transiting Uranus conjunct her Aries Sun, opposing her Libra Moon and squaring her natal Saturn.  This was followed by transiting Saturn square her natal Venus in Aries, opposing Pluto. Ouch. Love hurts.

In other news, Neptune keywords include music and oceans. Mercury in touch with Pluto and Uranus this week suggests investigative breakthroughs. It’s the perfect time for a story announcing that sharks can identify jazz, but are confused by classical music. Who wants to know? Read the article. Neptune also refers to deception and conspiracies.  “Pro-Beyoncé” vs. “Anti-Beyoncé”: 3,500 Facebook ads show the scale of Russian manipulation,” –– just released today. Download all of them here.

UPDATE: the state of California, whose horoscope suggests it will continue to be a pioneering and disruptive force all year. It’s now requiring all new homes to be built with solar power.

Finally, the state of Hawaii also has a horoscope. In light of Kilauea’s eruption last week, it is fascinating to note that Hawaii’s Leo Sun is at 28 degrees — and therefore eclipsed last August.  Its me-me-me Aries Moon is being squeezed by transiting Saturn. In Hawaii’s chart, the Moon rules its public status; Saturn rules its foundation; its land’ its roots. Transiting Pluto stationed  right at the bottom of the chart, opposing its Midheaven and squaring its Libra Ascendant last month, suggesting a resistance-is-futile transformation. Plus, like Mike Pence and Richard Cordray (who just won the Democratic primary in the race to become Ohio’s next governor), Hawaii is having a Saturn return and a Jupiter return. Bottom line: Hawaii is getting it from all angles, with more to come between now and the end of 2019.

Monday 5/7/2018: Sneak Peek at a Big, Boisterous Week

Happy Monday!

The Moon is in Aquarius, continuing to drive the energy of the day with a need for social significance and — at its best — for humanitarian concerns. Arise, go forth and network.  Meanwhile, patterns I told you about on Friday are happening today and tomorrow:

  • Sun sextile Neptune at 9:57 AM ET Sunday (yesterday)
  • Mercury square Pluto on Monday (today) at 4:49 AM ET
  • Venus square Neptune  on Monday at 5:59 PM ET
  • First Quarter Moon at 10:09 PM ET
  • Sun opposite Jupiter on TUESDAY 8:39 PM ET

In sum, we’re looking at themes of artsy/feminine/romantic ideals and illusions combined with a ruthless and deep perspective, pushed to excess or simple indulgence.  Humming in the background is the disruptive buzz of the building tension between Mars and Uranus, to be released on the 16th. Add in themes of seismic activity, technological advances, revolts and innovation in yang arena.  Also humming: an approaching harmony (trine) between Jupiter and Neptune, exact on May 25th. Jupiter-Neptune contacts suggest healing, physicians, faith, spiritual leaders…as well as scandal, drugs, oil and scandal.

As we get closer to the end of the week, factor in three other patterns. First, a harmony (trine) between the Sun and Pluto, exact FRIDAY at 7:07 PM ET.  This potent alignment between the Sun and regenerative Pluto suggests news from underground, corruption exposed and/or resolved, oil and gas (underground resources) and healing.  It also suggests a heavy consolidation of power and resources. Here’s a blurb about world news under a Sun-Pluto trine back in 2014.

On Friday– and over the weekend — Mercury will pull focus, squaring Mars on SATURDAY at 9:30 AM ET…and meeting up with rebel Uranus on SUNDAY at 6:49 AM ET.  This suggests combative, disruptive communication which shatters convention, for better or for worse.  Cooler heads may prevail — eventually — when Mercury leaves fiery, impulsive Aries for earthy, slowpoke Taurus on SUNDAY at 8:40 AM ET.

In your own personal world, those born around the 7th – 11th of May, August, November and February may be reaping the potential of cosmic sugar daddy Jupiter’s supercharged contact with their Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius Suns. Who loves ya, baby? How are you being offered opportunities to expand your reach? Downside potential: expansion is not always helpful if you have — say — a heart condition or a bad case of hubris. In those circumstances, consciously reining in overindulgent urges may serve you better in the long run.

What’s going on in your horoscope? Does the rest of the year suggest a period of expansion or contraction? Here’s the 411 on personal consultations. We will have an excellent discussion together. For Avid Readers planning to attend UAC — a.k.a. the Big Fat International Astrology Conference in Chicago this month, I will be available for appointments.

And now, the news — reflecting themes described above:

If you need a laugh at the ongoing White House mishegas,  I leave you with SNL’s cold open from Saturday —  it sharp, jam-packed, star-studded, scandalous and over-the-top. Kinda like current planetary patterns.

Thank you for reading this forecast.

Friday 5/4/2018 & the Weekend: Catching Up on the News (with Rudy, Monica, Mike and Mark)

TGIF!

Moon has been in Capricorn since 10:06 PM ET on Thursday. Arise, go forth and take care of business. There are no exact aspects to the Moon today, save around 4 PM  ET, when it meets up with taskmaster Saturn. A heavy advance or a heavy cut, depending on your side of the bargain. SATURDAY has an easy flow, perfect for practical chores and purchases. The Moon’s weekly clash with Pluto and Uranus happens at 5 PM ET and 9:48 AM ET on SUNDAY, respectively. Watch for power plays and upsets in the news and in the world around you.

After a brief Moon void at 9:48 AM ET on Sunday, Moon enters Aquarius, looking for a social cause or a group of buddies. Coloring the day — and a few days beforehand–  are five exact planetary patterns happening between Sunday and Tuesday:

  • Sun sextile Neptune at 9:57 AM ET
  • Mercury square Pluto on Monday at 4:49 AM ET
  • Venus square Neptune at 5:59 PM ET

Before we get to the news, I have two speaking engagements to tell you about. First — if you are in New York on Tuesday, May 8th, come on down to the Quest Bookshop for an astrological meet-up. I will be giving a talk called “So What If You’re Dead? The Horoscope Lives Forever.” Here’s the blurb: When someone makes news, the horoscope’s hot – whether that someone is alive or not. What’s happening when departed souls return to haunt the headlines?

Second, if you’re going to be in Chicago later this month, I will be giving the same talk on Friday, May 25th at 1 PM. This lecture is open to the public and is hosted by UAC, the biggest and fattest astrology conference in the known universe.  Email me if you’re interested. I will be available for consultations in Chicago between May 22nd and May 29th.

And now, the news.

  • “World’s Most Dangerous Glacier That Could Collapse Within DECADES…”  begins this 4/30 headline from the Daily Mail. Did we not anticipate news of a collapsing glacier in the forecast for this week? Yes. Yes, we did.  Coincidence or conspiracy? The glacier hasn’t gone anywhere just yet, but a team of US and UK scientists are embarking on a ginormous mission to study it. Fun fact: this will be the inaugural mission of Boaty McBoatface, one of the few constant bright spots in the world today.
  • Meanwhile — just like that — Hawaii’s Kilauea volcano erupted, sending hundreds of Big Island residents packing.
  • In the same category, minus the artsy, plus the authoritarian squeeze of today’s Moon-Saturn meet-up, VP Mike Pence is addressing a convention of NRA members in Dallas. No guns are allowed into the auditorium, which seems rather curious. The VP is speaking in complete sentences about all the ways the country is slowly being transformed into Gilead, under his eye — erm, watch. As it were. The VP’s horoscope is heating up. We don’t have a birth time — so the Moon could be late Gemini or early Cancer. The latter feels apt, if only because he calls his wife “Mother.” Right now and into 2019, his Gemini Sun is squared by nebulous Neptune. This suggests a visionary appeal — or feeling lost, victimized or wiped out. His Venus-Mars conjunction in early Leo is soon to be supercharged when Uranus enters Taurus later this month — and into 2019.  We see potential electrifying social expression/values shaking up the status quo. Next year, when Mars is hit — we see potential daring action…probably related to events happening around July 27th, when we’ll have an eclipse at 4 degrees of LeoAquarius. Not only that, but the VP is having a Saturn return and a Jupiter return this year. The former suggests a new lease on life; the latter suggests expansion and reward. It will be interesting to see where’s he at by the end of this year.
  • Adding to the afternoon’s potential for an authoritarian squeeze: 57,000 Hondurans whose protected status in the U.S. will expire in 2020. Add them to the tens of thousands of Nepali, Salvadorans, Haitians whose residency and work permits are in the process of being revoked by the Department of Homeland Security.
  • I promised you a few physicians. Ronny Jackson, is out as P45’s doctor and as the nominee to lead the Veterans Administration. He may not have actually crashed a car, but he was accused of “intimidating” Mike Pence’s physician, who also treated Pence’s wife, Karen. I was puzzled by the word “intimidating” until the story broke today that the VP’s physician has just resigned — and the physician is female.  Third doc in the hot seat: Harold Bornstein, P45’s former physician, now says P45’s medical records were seized from his office a year ago and that P45 dictated the glowing letter about P45’s health. No surprise there. NY state law requires physicians to keep original records,  btw. Did you know that the actual standard operating procedure for transferring medical records is for patients to request copies in writing and in compliance with privacy laws?  Ya learn somethin’ every day.

UPDATE: Rudy Giuliani, whose horoscope has been written about previously  here, here and here.  With Neptune on his Ascendant (just like Paul Ryan and Bill Clinton), his personal presentation is likely not what it seems, cloaked as it is in a  rose-colored fog. He can’t help but shake things up, with Sun and Uranus conjunct. And his ego needs to be the size of Brazil, with Moon in Leo conjunct Jupiter. Whatever he does, he needs to do it with big league style. A few weeks ago, when transiting Venus hit P45’s Midheaven, I thought he’d get a little bit of love. And sure enough,  that’s when Giuliani joined P45’s legal team.

This week, with transiting Jupiter squaring his natal Jupiter (and Moon), Giuliani went on the TV to dramatically announce that of course P45 knew about the payment to Stormy Daniels, blah blah blah…and of course he reimbursed his fixer, Michael Cohen. And true to Giuliani’s Ascendant and Micheaven at the Aries Point, this story dominated the headlines. No way can Giuliani not attract attention. Just put a lampshade on his head, already. He’s always going to be the life of the party. It is interesting to note that Giuliani and Mike Pence both have Mars at 3 degrees of Leo.  I expect to see them both in the headlines in May of 2019. Fun Fact: astrologer Grant Lewi observed that people born with Mars in Leo have an uncanny ability to “get away with murder.”  P45 has that, too.

In other news, Monica Lewinsky startled the Twitternet, scolding Senator Marco Rubio for blaming an intern for something something something about Rubio now criticizing the Republican tax cut bill (which he voted for), because working families aren’t seeing any tax cuts. Are you following this? In any event, Ms. Lewinsky cut through the static, tweeting “Blaming the intern is so ’90s,” — and she would know. But why did her remark attract attention now? Something is obviously going on in her horoscope. Take a look and immediately notice that transiting Uranus is about to square her 0 Leo Sun.  Transiting Pluto is squaring her natal Mars-Uranus opposition. I have no idea what’s she is planning this year, but she has the potential to turn a few worlds upside down with persuasive, break-through action.  If you were born on the first few days of Leo, Aquarius, Taurus or Scorpio you are likely ready to break out, too. Consult your local astrologer for details.

Finally, for your enjoyment:  Mark Hamill is due for some serious  upsets and fresh starts. His horoscope  —  with its Capricorn Ascendant —  is about to receive its second hit from transiting Saturn. while his 29 Libra Midheaven is  opposed by transiting Uranus.  One fresh start he’s had this year is a Twitter presence that attracts serious attention. How delightful it is to see him interviewed in a podcast in today’s  Washington Post.  File it under “artsy ideals and ruthless perspective” and may the Force be with you. Or rather, May the 4th.

Thank you for reading this forecast.
