I have been sitting with the incredible experience of your gift and knowledge and letting it sift down into my understanding and psyche. It was a powerful time for me. I told a friend, "she is the real deal." I don't say that very often!

Astro-logical Forecast for Monday 12/20/2010: The Aries Point

Fresh off an idealistic mindset suggested by last night’s connection between mental Mercury and the Sun in Sagittarius, what flashes of genius that may disrupt the status-quo will you have — or see in the headlines today? Or will your mind be merely racing, unable to focus as a result of information overload from today’s Moon in “need to know” Gemini? Communication and travel may be a bit jarring today; embrace whatever unconventional detours you encounter (it’s more productive than losing your temper).

We are building energy for a Full Moon/total lunar eclipse, exact on the East Coast at 3:13AM Tuesday, which just happens to be the Winter Solstice. We haven’t had a total lunar eclipse on shortest day of the year in over 400 years, so clearly it’s the end of the world. NOT. Let’s see what really might be going on.

Eclipses interrupt the regular flow of light and whatever other energy flows from the Sun or the Moon, like a river meeting a dam. This creates a bottleneck of energy — and in the case of a lunar eclipse, emotion — that must eventually find a release, usually over the course of a few months’ time. In the case of this eclipse, the time frame is five and half months. Eclipses often highlight an area of life where something needs to be brought to a close. Wherever the eclipse falls in your horoscope is where you can expect a bottleneck, followed by a release, likely of an emotional nature. The bottleneck is an opportunity to gather your resources and/or forces before the release. Since the normal flow is disrupted, the opportunity is ripe for changing the flow. That can be a very good thing! So look for 29 Gemini/29 Sagittarius in your chart and take note of the house which contains it. Or consult your local astrologer for insight.

This eclipse is the first of a series occurring over the next few years in the signs of Gemini/Sagittarius; a shift from two years of bottlenecks and releases in the signs of Cancer/Capricorn (the last in this series of Cancer/Capricorn eclipses happens Jan 4th). We are shifting from letting go of old patterns and beliefs on emotional and homeland security, hallowed institutions and corporations, how we administer progress — all these and other Cancer/Capricorn concerns. Globally the focus is likely to shift to letting go of old patterns in Gemini/Sagittarius issues: communication, mindsets, “big picture” thinking (law, religion. education), foreign relations, information (and information control). Again, how this release will likely manifest specifically in YOUR life requires a look at your unique horoscope.

Does the fact that the total eclipse is happening on the solstice make it more significant?  Sure. Any planet positioned on an equinox or solstice carries more weight — and especially carries with it a drive for prominence. Equinoxes and solstices happen at  zero degrees of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn (collectively known as the Aries Point). That’s what much of the fuss was about regarding the Big T-Square Party among Pluto, Uranus and Saturn that dominated 2010; these planets were all at the Aries Point, indicating the necessity for CHANGE (read my forecast for 7/27/2010 for notes on the Big T-Square Party). To quote Alex Forrest (played by Glenn Close) in the movie FATAL ATTRACTION: “I’m not going to be IGNORED, Dan.” That’s the potential of a planet on the Aries Point in action. And yes, such planets can find more positive and constructive ways to get attention than boiling bunny rabbits ; )

I’ll write more about the eclipse in tomorrow’s forecast — and if we’re lucky, I’ll post it before 3:13AM. Meanwhile, be kind and patient — know that emotions ARE especially likely to be intense and in our faces right now…and if you or anyone you know is born on or near a solstice or an equinox, be ESPECIALLY kind to them, as they will likely be feeling this more intensely than others.  This eclipse will be visible in all of the US — night owls, rejoice!

Astro-logical Forecast for Friday 9/24/2010 and the Weekend

Reports from the field confirm that this was indeed a particularly intense, proactive Full Moon, just as anticipated. I’m hearing stories of explosive confrontations (ego-based), sudden crises in a doctor’s office and an overall busier-than-business as usual mood of the day. Also hearing stories of deals coming close to fruition — especially speculative proposals backed by an enthusiastic and innovative sales pitch — and all of this fits within the realm of possibility suggested by the planets this week.

Today the Moon is still in me-me-me Aries, suggesting abundant enthusiasm and pioneering strategies, on the one hand — and the possibility for more ego spats if someone feels they are not being Recognized. TGIF! While the Moon (emotional response) is not being buffeted around like tumbleweed today, we are approaching a challenge between ruthless Pluto and the Sun, exact Saturday at 8:24PM NY. Already we are seeing in the headlines more revelations of corruption in hallowed institutions, like GMAC admitting that it signed off on thousands of foreclosures without actually reading any of the files, despite the fact that it was legally obligated to do so. And then there are health “insurers”, scrambling as best they can to put their bottom line first, no matter what (which, for the record,  they are legally obligated to do), with endearing strategies like eliminating health insurance policies for children. Ruthless! And — what’s this? Minutes ago, this headline in the New York Times: “Hidden Under Tax-Exempt Cloak, Political Dollars Flow”. Well, thanks to Pluto moving through Capricorn, they’re not hidden anymore ; )

Saturday the Moon is Void from 9:12AM – 4:17PM NY — so consider yourself advised to avoid impulse shopping during this time period. Odds are you don’t really need it — and later you’ll wonder why you bought it. The key word here is “impulse”. If it’s something you’ve already scoped out, planned to purchase — and are just waiting for the weekend to pick it up, that’s another story. You may find the day better spent catching up on sleep, exercising, meditating or just wandering around and seeing where the day takes you. Let me know if you encounter any twists.

Moon moves into sensual Taurus at 4:17PM NY for the rest of the weekend, making dynamic connections to both Mars (action) and Venus (social expression), suggesting a Saturday and Sunday well-spent indulging in pleasures of the senses, especially with a significant other if you’ve got one hanging around. Even if you’re flying solo, the weekend can be delightful.

Astro-logical Forecast for Wednesday 9/22/2010

Today marks the last day of summer — the Sun is at the end of Virgo and will move into Libra at 11:09 PM NY tonight and then…happy Autumnal Equinox…a perfect balance between day and night.

The first day of each season is especially powerful. We are immediately alerted to the likelihood of change and the beginning of a new cycle. These days are prominent, noticed and in some cultures even celebrated. The astrological signs that mark the seasons are Aries (spring), Cancer (summer), Libra (fall) and Capricorn (winter). Thus if you are born on or near the first day of those signs, or you have a planet or ascendant within the first two degrees of those signs, you will likely have a drive to be noticed in whatever areas of your life that planet signifies. For example, William Shatner, whom I wrote about a few weeks ago, has really been making headlines this year. His Aries Sun is right at the beginning of the sign and that Sun is — or recently was — being transited by Pluto, Saturn, Uranus and Jupiter (all in the current Big T-Square Party) at the beginning of Capricorn, Libra and Aries, respectively. This man can’t help but be noticed, especially now!

Libra is a airy, mental sign, generally concerned with relationships, social graces and with promoting fairness, justice and balance. This does not mean Librans are balanced; it means they generally are seeking balance and are quite capable of swinging back and forth wildly as they search for it. As sweet as Libra can be, they are not marshmallows. The term “iron fist in a velvet glove” often applies. Jimmy Carter is a Libra — and yes, points in his chart are being triggered by that Big T-Square Party right now, pushing him back into the headlines, along with a heavy mantel of gravitas courtesy of an authoritative, tell-it-like-it-is Saturn transit about to hit Carter’s Libra Sun.

About today: with the Sun at the beginning of Libra, it is joining the current Big T-Square Party (see forecast for 7/27 if you don’t know what that is). Thus we can expect a lot of activity — especially pro-activity. Be mindful of the potential for overloads and short circuits in your system, including your technology. Keep your grounding cord down and move forward. Note we are warming up for a particularly active Full Moon early tomorrow AM — watch this space for details — and watch the headlines for grand statements on social policy over the next few days — fairness, justice and balance in relationships.

Astro-logical Forecast for Friday 9/10/2010 and the Weekend

William Shatner is getting a lot of press these days. A story about him appeared in the New York Times Magazine last week — and he’s starring in a provocative new sitcom, “$#!@ My Dad Says”. And on March 22, he’ll be 80 years old! With all this activity happening for him this year, do you think he might be personally affected by the empowering, life-altering Big T-Square Party (see forecast for 7/27/10 for details)? I had to investigate — and yes, in fact, he is. Shatner’s Sun is at 0 degrees of Aries; transiting Uranus (intensification, individuation) and expansive Jupiter are right on top of that Sun and making a supportive connection to his ruling planet, Mars. An astrologer counseling Mr. Shatner a year or so ago would have told him to be on the lookout for “breakout” roles that enabled him to shine in ways that might be seen as quirky or shocking….or just being himself. Break a leg, Mr. Shatner!

The Neptune-Mars connection (spirituality, saviors, fanatics), dominating the headlines this week continues to hold sway on Friday, apparently softening harsh edges enough to mollify even that aforementioned (see yesterday’s forecast) would-be book-burning Florida resident. How beautiful can life possibly be? Allow yourself to explore that question this evening — with a partner, even better.

You can continue to explore the depth of a beautiful connection over the weekend. Moon moves into Scorpio Saturday AM, demanding substance along with the sweetness of Friday’s dreamy seduction, augmented by a connection from loving Venus (in Scorpio) to transformational Pluto (ruler of Scorpio). It’s just all so potentially…juicy.

Mercury turns direct on Sunday at 7:09PM NY — be careful on the roads — be patient with yourself and others as we get used to our brains moving fully forward again, which will take until September 27th.  If you’ve been thinking about scheduling an appointment to review your horoscope and chart your course for the next six – twelve months, this is an excellent time to do it.
