Thursday 5/10/2018: Beauty and the Beasts; News From Underground

Alll-righty then!

No lengthy Moon voids this week to diffuse your plans for world domination. Keep on truckin’! Today the Moon continues its sojourn in Pisces, seeking to identify ideals, work with impressions and go with the flow. Moon is well-supported by input from other planets between now and Friday, as well as a power-consolidating harmony between Sun and Pluto, exact on FRIDAY at 7:07 PM ET. Keep an eye on whoever is in charge.  Between now and Sunday, patterns among Mercury, Mars and Uranus suggest communications from the PTB that may be innovative or simply disruptive/explosive.  Adding to the fire: the Moon’s shift into me-me-me Aries at 8:40 AM on FRIDAY, forging ahead and falling down stairs (because it’s faster than walking) until mid-afternoon on SUNDAY.

Meanwhile, it was delightful to meet a few New York Avid Readers who turned out for my talk at Quest Book Shop on Tuesday. Huzzah! If you missed it and you’re going to UAC (a.k.a. the Big Fat Astrology Conference in Chicago), you can catch “So What If You’re Dead? The Horoscope Lives Forever” at 1 PM on Friday, May 25th. I love to travel!

And now, the news.

Did I say this would be a boisterous week? Add in bombastic, too — reflecting the potential of Tuesday’s face-off between the Sun and expansive Jupiter. When have we seen patterns like this before? On February 9th, when Jupiter and the Sun were in a tense square. Here’s the forecast for that day — along with headlines that were demanding our attention. Note the similarities? Also note that the Sun and Jupiter will square off again on August 6th, five days after the second Mars-Uranus square. Venus will be at the Aries Point on August 6th, suggesting prominent headlines involving women, art, money, social expression. Uranus will be stationary retrograde, suggesting significant news reflecting these themes: disruptive, revolutionary, tech breakthroughs, aviation, astrology, mutations, shocks to the system, including seismic activity. Mark your calendars.

Meanwhile, P45 continues to operate exactly as anticipated in earlier forecasts. From January 5th:

A need for heavy thoughts kicks in by mid-March through May, courtesy of transiting Saturn (control) opposing P45’s Mercury. That can feel isolating/depressing, and it returns for a final hit at the end of the year. Humming along in tandem with the heavy thoughts is a tense pattern between transiting Saturn (ambition, fear, control) and his Neptune (vision, deception, fog). This can be bewildering. Building to a peak in June we see a need for risk and excitement —  for better or for worse. From his perspective, it will likely feel exuberant and indulgent, given corroborating patterns exact on his birthday.

P45’s birthday is June 14th. What are the key patterns on his solar return? (Not in his solar return, mind you — that is a separate chart, which will be discussed in a future forecast). One is between Uranus and Mars, suggesting impulsive, daring, risky and/or breakthrough action on a global scale — and this pattern has been in effect for a couple of months. The other is a measurement between Venus and Jupiter, in effect now through June. That suggests exuberance, indulgence — and no small amount of luck. Did you hear that a date has been set for a summit between P45 and Kim Jong-un — on June 12th? Do you really think this date is a coincidence? The Venus-Jupiter measurement (secondary progression, for astropros reading this) perfectly reflects talk of him meriting a Nobel Peace Prize.   Will those who make Nobel Peace Prize decisions take into account that — reckless or not — this week P45 smashed up the Iran deal made among the U.S. and its allies?  Iran and Israel now seem to be lobbing missiles at each other (via Syria).   But at least oil is up (Pluto trine Sun) which means gas prices will increase — and that’s good news for Russia.

Looking ahead to the New Moons on May 15th and June 13th, we see the former at 24 Taurus, right on P45’s Midheaven. The latter is at 22 Gemini, conjunct his Sun and opposing his Sag Moon. It’s his world; we just live in it — for at least the next couple of months. On the other hand, we are seeing the potential squeeze of the second hit of transiting Saturn opposing his Mercury-Neptune square, suggesting a hardnosed, mean, ambitious, authoritarian and/or reality check on the intuitive and fanciful way he needs to think. Exhibit A: As of May 2nd, P45 has told 3001 lies since his inauguration — in public, anyway.  Of course we are getting this news now. Exhibit B: musing about taking press credentials away from journalists who write stories he doesn’t like. Exhibit C — reflective of the squeeze in P45’s chart and overall planetary patterns:  revelations about hundreds of thousands of dollars funneled to fixer Michael Cohen’s shell company (Essential Consultants), allegedly “for access” to P45. Who paid the money?  Columbus Nova (a company linked to a Russian oligarch), along with AT& T (?!?!) and Novartis, among others.

Fun fact: Mr. Cohen is still on board as deputy finance chairman of the Republican National Committee.

Meanwhile…

Is there anything truly fun and frothy to report, reflecting planetary patterns? Yes! Remember I told you how we’d see aesthetic ideals, along with faith and spiritual leaders, suggested by Venus and Jupiter in contact with Neptune? The theme of this week’s costume gala at the Met was “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.”Look at these divinely inspired dresses! Not so fun and frothy, but related to the Met: Harvey Weinstein’s soon-to-be ex-wife — fashion designer Georgina Chapman — breaks her silence. How could she not have known? I don’t know, but in her horoscope — no birth time available — we see the potential for a startling, sobering wake-up call, with transiting Uranus conjunct her Aries Sun, opposing her Libra Moon and squaring her natal Saturn.  This was followed by transiting Saturn square her natal Venus in Aries, opposing Pluto. Ouch. Love hurts.

In other news, Neptune keywords include music and oceans. Mercury in touch with Pluto and Uranus this week suggests investigative breakthroughs. It’s the perfect time for a story announcing that sharks can identify jazz, but are confused by classical music. Who wants to know? Read the article. Neptune also refers to deception and conspiracies.  “Pro-Beyoncé” vs. “Anti-Beyoncé”: 3,500 Facebook ads show the scale of Russian manipulation,” –– just released today. Download all of them here.

UPDATE: the state of California, whose horoscope suggests it will continue to be a pioneering and disruptive force all year. It’s now requiring all new homes to be built with solar power.

Finally, the state of Hawaii also has a horoscope. In light of Kilauea’s eruption last week, it is fascinating to note that Hawaii’s Leo Sun is at 28 degrees — and therefore eclipsed last August.  Its me-me-me Aries Moon is being squeezed by transiting Saturn. In Hawaii’s chart, the Moon rules its public status; Saturn rules its foundation; its land’ its roots. Transiting Pluto stationed  right at the bottom of the chart, opposing its Midheaven and squaring its Libra Ascendant last month, suggesting a resistance-is-futile transformation. Plus, like Mike Pence and Richard Cordray (who just won the Democratic primary in the race to become Ohio’s next governor), Hawaii is having a Saturn return and a Jupiter return. Bottom line: Hawaii is getting it from all angles, with more to come between now and the end of 2019.

Wednesday 3/28/2018 & a Few Days: Catching Up on the News; an Extraordinary Eclipse

All-righty then!

At 10:30 AM ET the Moon entered Virgo, driving most of the next three days with a need to make things right in exacting detail. How is your Mercury retrograde REorganizing going? What are you throwing out? A lot, potentially, using the streamlined, proactive focus of the soon-t0-be exact meet-up between Mars and Saturn on April 2nd.  Not to mention THURSDAY’s 10:16 AM ET square between Saturn and the Aries Sun. In the language of astrology, Saturn refers to necessary control, ambition and discipline. The Sun refers to ego, leaders, vitality.

Headlines that happened in the aftermath of Sun-Saturn squares can be found here and here.  Search the archives and you’ll find more. You are more personally affected by the potential for a streamlined squeeze or advance if you were born around the 28th of March, June, September and December…or if you have a planet or angle around 4-9 degrees of Aries, Cancer, Libra or Capricorn. Now would be an excellent time to book a personal consultation — and I know this because the horoscopes of most of my recent clients fall into this category. Join them!

You can also be proactive about REconnecting with people from your past. I spent yesterday morning catching up with college classmates whom I had not spoken with in years. Found out that one had triplets — what a surprise! And that surprise was an apt reflection of this evening’s meet-up between Venus (women) and Uranus (did I mention surprise?).  Who or what has suddenly returned in your life  since Mercury turned retrograde on March 22nd? You have until April 15th to RE-establish ties. Go for it! And especially GO FOR IT this week, where there are few bumps impeding the flow of the Virgo Moon.  It doesn’t get choppy until Saturday….

And now, the news.

Streamlining is all over the news – militantly so:

Serious Saturn-Sun news involving heads of state:

  • Kim Jong-un visits China’s Xi Jinping
  • P45 has been officially summoned in a lawsuit alleging he is violating the emoluments clause of the U.S. Constitution. Maryland and D.C. are the plaintiffs.
  • P45 loses in his company’s arbitration efforts to regain control of its Panama hotel.
  • Add in the disruption of status quo involving money and aesthetics (suggested by today’s meet-up between Venus and Uranus):  no more public funding of portraits of federal agency heads and politicians.

Meanwhile, Helen Gurley Brown’s horoscope is also under tension. Her 28 Aquarius Sun was impacted by last August’s Big Fat Total Eclipse, as well as the eclipse at 27 Aquarius in February. Transiting Saturn (control, cuts) is squaring her natal Saturn and her Libra Midheaven (public status). Saturn rules her 2nd House — referring to money and self-worth. On today’s disruptive Venus-Uranus meet-up at 27 Aries, Walmart removed Cosmopolitan  from its checkout aisles. Does Ms. Brown have a tense aspect between Venus and Uranus in her horoscope? Of course she does.

Did you know that Cosmopolitan was founded in 1886 — as a “family magazine?” It was also once a “literary magazine.” It was in 1965 — the first hit of the revolutionary Uranus-Pluto conjunction — that Helen Gurley Brown became Cosmo’s editor. She turned that magazine upside down! In the aftermath of the 2011-2016 Uranus-Pluto square, perhaps another transformation is in order.

UPDATE: House Speaker Paul Ryan, whose horoscope has been discussed here many times. This week it was rumored that the Speaker would be resigning “within 60 days.” Speaker Ryan denied it — with Mercury retrograde, one is always advised to refrain from believing everything one reads in the papers. What does his horoscope suggest? Certainly there are tensions now — with a critical period happening at the end of June and early July, as transiting Mars stations and turns retrograde on his natal Sun. Feels like a battle requiring physical/assertive energy. This fall, after Election Day, transiting Jupiter meets up with Neptune and his Ascendant — that’ll happen at 0 degrees Sagittarius.  This suggests an expanded idealism — and possibly an expanded personal projection. I wonder where he will be a year from now, when transiting Neptune hits the bottom of his horoscope. In my experience, this transit may be experienced as if one is suddenly standing in quicksand, unclear about how one fits into one’s home/foundation. A windfall opportunity may present itself later in 2019, followed by a break for independence in 2020.

In other news, Avid Readers may remember these guys from a forecast posted last August called “The Wiggy Uranus-Neptune Semi-Square”

That’s a picture of Uranus and Neptune when they met up in Capricorn in the early 90s. Their mission: to dissolve boundaries, and connect everyone together into one big spooky, ooky family…with the Capricorn part of the picture suggesting a potential corporate backing. That meet-up (technically called a conjunction) planted the seeds for the cycle. The semi-square is the first challenge to the seeds planted. Do we like what we planted? Now that we’re all connected via Facebook and Google, perhaps you’d like to know what they now know about you. Look here.   Is it spooky, ooky — or something even….(insert your adjective here).

So now we are seeing these big tangled webs of connection being challenged — the timing is perfect.  Mark Zuckerberg is being called to testify before Congress (after apparently dissing requests to appear before Parliament). And we are finding out more about the good folks who worked with Cambridge Analytica to come up with those fun “what kind of pasta/flower/horror movie creature/superhero are you?” personality quizzes that plagued Facebook in the early stages of the U.S. presidential campaign.

We do not have a confirmed birth time for Mark Zuckerberg, but we can see that his Mercury (how he needs to think and communicate) at roughly 29 Aries is under the influence of this Uranus-Neptune semi-square. The next exact hit — the third of five — happens on June 16th.  Patterns in the chart for the launch of Facebook (Feb 4, 2004 in Cambridge, MA) are also impacted by the Uranus-Neptune semi-square. Let’s see what happens.

Meanwhile, WaPo’s James Hohmann is on the case. In today’s Daily 202, he wants you to know about historian Niall Ferguson’s new book:

The Square and the Tower” is a cautionary tale that challenges the conventional wisdom that growing interconnectedness is inherently good for society…

To understand the current eraFerguson believes we need to look more at what happened after Johannes Gutenberg developed the printing press. Like the Web, the use of these presses was difficult to centrally control. “At the beginning of the Reformation 501 years ago, Martin Luther thought naively that if everybody could read the Bible in the vernacular, they’d have a direct relationship with God, it would create ‘the priesthood of all believers’ and everything would be awesome,” said Ferguson.

From an astrological perspective, we see Gutenberg using new technology (Uranus) to advance a spiritual connection (Neptune). Now — Uranus and Neptune hadn’t even been discovered in 1439-40, but guess what pattern they were in back then? Uranus was squaring Neptune! Coincidence or conspiracy?

Finally, thanks to Avid Reader Jennifer who sent in an apt reflection of how Mercury retrograde often coincides with secrets from the past revealed. “After 51 years, police recover remains believed to be of missing Cutchogue woman”   The woman was Louise Pietrewicz, who disappeared at age 38. Investigative reporter that I am, I dug further and found her birth date: August 22, 1928 — in Sagaponack, NY. Her Sun is at 29 Leo, conjunct Neptune at 28 Leo. Avid Readers will instantly realize that her Sun and Neptune would have been totally eclipsed back in August — and again in February. It is fascinating to note that her “cold case” was reopened last fall! And that her remains were finally uncovered after the eclipse in February. Eclipses — like Mercury retrogrades — have an odd way of coinciding with bringing what was hidden to light.

So. To all of you Avid Readers whose horoscopes were affected by last August’s eclipse — how have you seen that manifest in your life?

Thank you for reading this forecast. Here’s the 411 on personal consultations.

Monday 8/28/2017: Sneak Peek at the Week; Houston & Other Horrorscopes

Good Morning!

Intense, deep, stubborn, controlling and wet — those are a few keywords for the Moon when it is in Scorpio, where it’s been since early Saturday. As of 5:38 AM ET, it’s also void of course — i.e., traveling without focused direction until it enters the next sign — Sagittarius — with a huge sigh of relief. That shift happens at 3:48 PM ET. Until then, roll with the flakes and twists. Stick to routine. Crises which crop up during voids are often much ado about nothing. Chill! Your other Moon voids this week happen on THURSDAY 12:42 AM ET – 4:18 AM ET and SATURDAY 12:30 PM ET – 4:06 PM ET.

Once the Moon enters Sagittarius, everyone is sure to have an opinion — the more boundary-pushing, the better. Get out of your rut; expand your mind; connect with nature; catch a foreign film; think positively; avoid putting your foot in your mouth and/or tripping over the furniture.

On THURSDAY retrograde Mercury backs into Leo at 11:29 AM ET, where it will slow to a crawl as it prepares to move direct on Tuesday, September 5th. What does this suggest? Note that Action Hero/Angry Bird Mars will be at 28 Leo on SATURDAY and SUNDAY. Last week’s awesome solar eclipse happened at 28 Leo. A planet that travels to the degree of an eclipse serves as a trigger — i.e., a release of energy/action bottle-necked by the eclipse. Got that?

Mercury (information, communication, travel) will meet up with Mars at that same degree — 28 Leo —  on SUNDAY at 5:39 AM ET. What will be the fallout (sometimes, literally)? What secrets will be revealed? What royal edicts will be issued (when cooler heads really ought to prevail)? Mercury will hang at 28 Leo until it turns direct. Could be an interesting few days for those with significant planets and points at that degree. Consult your local astrologer for details.

And now, the news.

A harmony between Mars and Uranus on SATURDAY at 8:13 AM ET suggests headlines including, but not limited to tech breakthroughs and aviation. We shall see.

Meanwhile, water, water everywhere — in Texas.  Hurricane Harvey continues to rain on Houston, reflecting the wretched potential of a depth-seeking Scorpio Moon. Why Houston? Why now?  Are there any astrological patterns suggesting this heartbreaking horror show?

Well, it is interesting to note that the chart for the August 21 solar eclipse set in Houston has a Midheaven (public status) of 0 degrees Virgo — with the eclipsed Sun and Moon sitting right on top of it, separated by just one degree. The chart set in Houston has a 23 Scorpio Ascendant, challenged by the North and South Nodes. I’d translate that potential as an image of depth and control, while feeling trapped between a rock and a hard place. Mars is at 20 Leo, physically challenging that image when it hit 23 Leo early Saturday morning. We will see more Mars action in this Houston New Moon chart between September 2nd and 5th.

New Moon in Houston

It is also interesting to see Neptune running wild in the chart, yet in an obsessive-compulsive relationship with the Sun and Moon. Neptune refers to water, floods, displaced persons, dissolving of boundaries. This pattern was in the chart for the New Moon/Eclipse in every location. Neptune also refers to oil, oceans and naval matters — and here I would be thinking of another recent big headline: the collision of a oil tanker with the U.S.S. John McCain, in which ten U.S. sailors perished.

Meanwhile, the city of Houston also has a horoscope — born on August 24, 1836 at 12:38 PM. Houston’s Sun is 1 Virgo — also hit by the August 21st eclipse. Coincidence or conspiracy? We see Mars hot in this horoscope late next week — the 7th through the 9th. We anticipate action and/or assertion.

Of course there is always the possibility that the real culprit here is Mother Nature, aided and abetted by climate change caused by human activity, like most scientists say. And that it doesn’t really matter to Mother Nature that U.S. government agencies, under the dangerously deluded direction of the P45 adminstration, have scrubbed the words “climate change” from their websites.  Guess they haven’t gotten around to NASA yet.

Thinking of all Avid Readers in Harvey’s path — hoping you are safe and sound. If you are not in Harvey’s path, here are ways to help.

In other news…

Some weeks ago in Astrologer Land there was an article published arguing that the time on the birth certificate released by P45 wasn’t correct, and that we should be using the birth time cited by his mother.  I don’t know about that, given the responsiveness of the horoscope calculated with the time on the birth certificate. For example, we’d expect a public assertion of regal machismo on or a day before the morning of August 27th, when transiting Mars (action) challenged his Midheaven (public status).  Sure enough, late on Friday when many were focused on the impending Hurricane Harvey, P45 “pardoned” Joe Arpaio, former sheriff of Maricopa County (AZ). Here is the must-read article on Mr. Arpaio, if you’re not quite sure what heinous things he has done.

We don’t have an exact birth time, but here is what we know of Mr. Arpaio’s horoscope.  OMG, he shares a birthday with P45 — June 14th. Gemini Sun — Libra or Scorpio Moon, likely squared by patriarchal Saturn. That can be lean…and downright mean. Macho Mars at 24 Taurus — conjunct wounded healer Chiron and the wretched Fixed Star Algol; retrograde Venus is conjunct Pluto; Neptune and Mars are running wild. Translation: we see the potential for a man on a misguided mission;  prone to over-the-top emotions in matters of homeland/family, inflicting aforementioned meaness on others as a twisted retaliation for the misery he likely experienced in his early home life. It will be interesting to see what squeeze he may be feeling in October/November, when transiting Saturn opposes his Gemini Sun for the third time this year.

Over the weekend, P45 also reversed an Obama-era rule that prevented local police departments from getting their hands on military equipment. Because what local police department would be complete without its very own grenade launcher? Earlier this month he rolled back Obama-era flood standards for taxpayer-financed infrastructure projects. Will that one be REconsidered, as one might hope with a bright idea that launches during a Mercury retrograde? Meanwhile, macho militant Mars hits P45’s regal Leo Ascendant on September 5th. Actions are sure to make news. Stay tuned….

…and ending on a fun note. Lost objects have an odd way of turning up when Mercury is retrograde. In Canada, a woman was delighted to find her engagement ring when it was pulled out of her garden….wrapped around a carrot!

How’s your Mercury retrograde REorganizing, REpairing, REtreating, REconnecting going? Yesterday I ordered a file cabinet and took my broken vacuum cleaner to the repair shop.

Housekeeping note: if you ordered and paid for a personalized report about last week’s solar eclipse, it was prepared and emailed to you. If you have not received it, please let me know (to Avid Reader Mary — thanks for emailing me to say you did not receive the report. Please check your spam folder — it was sent on the 19th).

Thank you for reading this forecast. Contributions to my Cosmic Tip Jar are always welcome. If you curious to know how all this talk of planetary patterns mean for you personally, here’s the 411 on consultations. We will have an excellent discussion together.

Astro-logical Forecast for Tuesday 9/6/2016: Sneak Peek at the Week; Catching Up on Last Week, Too

Alllll- righty then!

It’s back to work in the U.S., and hopefully the tropical storms and hurricanes did not put a damper on your vacation.

The Moon is in Scorpio, where it has been since 8:38AM ET on Monday. The need until Wednesday at 9:20PM ET is for substance, depth and control. Take note of your dreams as you get back into gear, as the Moon makes contact with (dreamy) Neptune at 5:56AM ET. Easy aspects to the Moon from the Virgo Sun and Pluto around 2PM and 3PM ET facilitate that needed depth without hiccups.

Wednesday we have two patterns of note: a trine (easy flow) between Pluto and the Sun at 1:17AM ET, followed by another easy flow between Venus and Saturn. All together we are talking about the serious consolidation of power and resources, with a conservative and potentially feminine flair. I’m thinking of these aspects, along with the aftermath of the weekend’s reality-bending patterns among the Sun, Saturn and Neptune, as an apt backdrop for the transition of ultraconservative activist Phyllis Schlafly, aged 92. “There will be a woman president over my dead body!” she once famously**  proclaimed, in her successful campaign to defeat the ERA (Equal Rights Amendment, for those who weren’t even born in 1972). Who knew Ms. Schafly was a psychic?

In your own personal world, seize these next few days to advance your plans for world domination.

Moon goes void for not even an hour on Wednesday at 8:43PM ET. It enters Sagittarius at 9:20PM ET, seeking to push boundaries for a righteously opinionated cause. Still, no bumps in the road for the Moon until a few hours before 6PM ET, when the it meets up with heavy Saturn, followed 20 minutes later by a clash with nebulous Neptune. Real meets unreal — the story of our lives all summer, bracketed by tension between Saturn and Neptune,  exact on June 17th — and for the third and final hit this Saturday at 9:10AM ET.

Here’s a re-cap from January 2015 on the Saturn – Neptune square that’s been in effect since this time last year. Use it to inform your perspective on the headlines:

Briefly, Saturn is reality. Neptune is fantasy. Put them together and what have you got? A bubble of optimistic faith. When will it burst?  A few months ago, when I was reading The Big Short — about the collapse of the housing bubble and the outrageous speculation going on in the financial markets that led to the fiscal crisis in 2008,  I noticed a challenging aspect between Saturn and Neptune as that bubble was building.  There was a similar aspect in 1999, coinciding with the internet bubble and everyone freaking out about Y2K, which proved to be much ado about nothing. What pixie dust-covered fantasy will captivate us now and into the next year?

Here’s more from June 2016:

…the boundary-dissolving, reality-bending square between Saturn in Sagittarius (structure, control, borders, foreigners, opinions, media, etc.) and Neptune in Pisces (intangibles, opiates, viruses, oil, refugees and other keywords noted in prior forecasts)… File any “oh what’s the use?” feelings you may have in the folder labelled “Saturn vs. Neptune.” If have a planet or angle around 8-12 degrees of Pisces, Gemini, Sagittarius or Virgo, you are more personally affected. A consultation with your local astrologer would be productive.

The other notable shift in the cosmos happens on Friday, when Jupiter leaves Virgo for Libra. Jupiter refers to expansion. Virgo refers to what is small. Add niggling details, processes such as cooperation and digestion, health matters, workers, service, the conservation of Mother Earth and small animals. This is not a full list. All last week and this week, Jupiter is at the very end of Virgo. At 29 degrees, it’s well within range of one of the four Aries Points which suggest prominence.  Watch the headlines for news along these themes to pull big focus.

When Jupiter enters Libra on Friday at 7:18AM ET, it will be exactly on the Aries Point 0 degrees of Libra (the other three are Aries, Cancer and Capricorn). I anticipate we will notice an expansive  light on Libran concerns – including, but not limited to: fairness, equality, justice, balance, diplomacy, mediation, social graces, marriage and other one-on-one partnerships, the lower back and kidneys. We’ll talk more about this event in a future forecast. Too much to catch up on from last week, such as….

A new month, a New Moon and a solar eclipse. Where to begin?

With the eclipse, which occurred at 9 Virgo at 5:03AM ET on September 1st. What’s so special about an eclipse?

A Solar Eclipse can act like a bottleneck of energy. Light flowing from the Sun is temporarily interrupted by the Moon, focusing attention on that interrupted point. Wherever that point falls in your horoscope, something new — and possibly fragile — may enter the picture and grow over the next several months. And here I would be thinking of Michael, the kindhearted policeman in the storybook Make Way for Ducklings, who stopped the flow of traffic on Beacon Street so Mr. and Mrs. Mallard and their brood of eight could safely make their way to the Boston Public Garden. Here is Officer Michael, playing the role of the Moon in a solar eclipse. Got that?

make-way-for-ducklings-more-robert-mccloskey-dvd-cover-art

So when does the bottleneck of energy release, you may be wondering. Good question. We can expect a release of energy (reflected by an event) when another planet makes contact with the degree of the eclipse. Conjunctions are the most potent, but I’d argue that squares and oppositions also make an impact. Here’s an example: on April 15, 2014 there was a lunar eclipse at 26 Libra. Months later, when Mars (action, aggression, attack) arrived at 26 Libra, a Malaysian Airlines plane was shot down while flying over the Ukraine. I knew that’s where Mars was before looking it up on my computer. A release of bottlenecked energy is not always unpleasant. There are plenty of cases in the lives of individuals where a triggered eclipse is reflected in a positive change. You will find examples in a fine book by Celeste Teal called ECLIPSES.

You are personally affected by this eclipse if you have a planet around 9 degrees of Virgo. This includes most everyone born between Sept 1962-Sept 1964. You can order an Astro-Basics Report if you want to know what degrees all of your planets and angles are at, so you can see where eclipses and other celestial events fall in your horoscope.

Here are some considerations for a New Moon in Virgo, which you can apply in your efforts this week. Keywords for Virgo include: discernment, work, service, analysis. Whom or what does your creative self-expression serve? How does it work?

Virgo also rules the digestive tract, where it keeps busy instinctively separating the wheat from the chaff. It keeps elements that provide nourishment and eliminates those which do not. Some digestive systems work more efficiently than others, depending on what they are given to process. What is your process? Is it efficient? What can you do to perfect it?

Patterns in this New Moon are similar to those we saw in June’s New Moon in Gemini: Sun and Moon in a tough, tight relationship with Saturn (in Sagittarius) and Neptune (in Pisces). Themes we can expect in the headlines: tough reality checks and/or bewildering spin on these Sagittarius and Pisces themes, including, but not limited to: foreigners, immigration, refugees, water, scandals, fantasy, scandal, surrealism, publishing, belief systems (political and spiritual), drugs and education. Here’s a silly — but apt reflection that just came in:

As part of a Federal Election Commission crackdown on fake presidential candidates (remember Deez Nuts?), officials sent a letter to the Staten Island address where God’s campaign manager apparently lives.

“It has come to the attention of the Federal Election Commission that you may have failed to include the true, correct, or complete committee name, candidate name, custodian of records name, treasurer name,” an FEC analyst wrote in the letter, which was sent Wednesday.

Now God has 30 days to prove He exists, or his campaign for the presidency will be terminated.

The horoscope of the U.S., as I have noted before, is directly affected by this tough Saturn-Neptune pattern, in case anyone is looking for an explanation of why the U.S. appears to have lost its mind — or at the very least, temporarily, its way. This bewildering pattern directly impacts the U.S. horoscope, whether you use the one with 12 Sagittarius Ascendant or 8 Gemini. The exact birth time of the United States continues to be a subject of lively debate among astrologers, doncha know….

Also in the horoscope for the New Moon: a meet-up between Mercury and Jupiter, suggesting big ideas about small details, discernment, discrimination and mass media. Effective immediately, the NYT will no longer be covering the small stuff, such as local restaurants, art shows and non-profit theater productions. It’s just not interesting to the NYT’s desired global audience.  YouTube says no YouCan’T use its distribution channel to monetize content that includes sex, drugs and political humor. What’s next? Rock n’ roll?  Meanwhile, in Cape Canaveral, a Space X rocket blew to smithereens on the launchpad, destroying a zillion-dollar communications satellite Facebook hoped would allow it to conquer Africa.

And now, the news.

…with apologies for the delay. I started writing this forecast last week, but was sidetracked by deadlines on two soon-to-be-published articles in mainstream publications. I am thrilled thrilled thrilled to announce that one of the articles will appear in the Dec/Jan issue of The Mountain Astrologer — huzzah, huzzah, huzzah! I will be sure to let you know when the issue hits the stand so you can buy it.

File all of the following stories under Saturn square Neptune — real/unreal — drugs, dreams, scandals, despair, escapes, transcendence, refugees, yadda, yadda: Opiates and Anti-Anxiety Drugs are Killing White Women; Millions of Honeybees Killed in South Carolina by Pesticide Intended to Kill Zika-Carrying Mosquitos; Mother Teresa is Canonized.  Did you know that in order to become a saint, there must be empirical evidence of miraculous healing that occurred when people prayed to you for help after you died? How very Saturn-Neptune, and how cool that the NYT published an op-ed on saints and medical miracles throughout history.

Add the power/resources consolidation of the Sun trine Pluto and say hi to what could be the largest energy infrastructure company in America: the merger of Spectra and Enbridge.

Scandals. All over the place last week. Exhibit A: Anthony Weiner — three sexting strikes and he’s out. His wife announced their separation. We do not have a birth time, but let the record show that a pile-up of planets in Virgo in his horoscope: Mercury, Sun, Uranus and Pluto were eclipsed last week and also have been under stress from transiting Saturn and Neptune. This will continue into 2017. Reality checks and wipeout potential. Not only that, but transiting Uranus has been squaring his Mars (yang, assertion) at 23 Cancer, so we see the potential need for risky action with sudden consequences.

Meanwhile, the Guardian reported that Steve Bannon, the new campaign chief for That Guy Who Continues to Dominate My Newsfeed, was registered to vote in Florida, citing the address of a vacant house in which he has never lived as his residence. Elsewhere, New York published a page-turner: “The Revenge of Roger’s Angels: How Fox Women Took Down the Most Powerful, Predatory Media Man in America.” Said predatory media man — Roger Ailes — may sue New York in response; however, Fox News has now reached a $20 million settlement with Gretchen Carlson, whose lawsuit brought this scandal into the glaring light. The parent company of Fox News also apologized.

Let the record show that Rupert Murdoch’s horoscope  was directly affected by last week’s eclipse, sitting right on top of his 11 Virgo Midheaven (status/profession), which is also impacted by transiting Saturn and Neptune. I noted these current challenging patterns at the beginning of the year when he announced his engagement to Jerry Hall. They suggest heavy controls and no small amount of uncertainty and/or scandal. These patterns will be in effect for some time to come. Astrology is amazing.

File this under Mercury Retrograde: “Green Party’s Jill Stein Flies to Wrong Ohio City for Rally.” Oops. “British Airways Computer Problems Cause Widespread Delays.”  These problems are reportedly “unexplained.” Mwahahaha….

Finally, a welcome contribution from Avid Readers Diane and Monica, who sent this “classic post for the current Saturn Square Neptune; the attempt to give form to and control (Saturn) our dreams (Neptune):” Inside the Company That Wants to be the Netflix of Lucid Dreaming. Yup. That works. Thank you Diane and Monica!

And thank you for reading this forecast.

To be continued….

**…and by “famous” I mean “spread like wildfire all over the internet, even though snopes says she never said it.”
