Astro-logical Forecast for Monday 3/9/2015: Sneak Peek at the Week

Happy Monday!

After a 12-hour void, the Moon shifted into gear in Scorpio at 9:10AM ET. East Coasters, if you lingered in bed — perhaps trying to recapture that hour of sleep you lost yesterday thanks to Daylight Savings Time — you likely got away with it.

A Scorpio Moon suggests a need for depth, substance and control. Fluffy it ain’t, especially with action hero Mars pulling focus all week (see Friday’s forecast for details). Forge ahead on those weighty matters. Understand that others may have their own heavy agenda, too. It’s not all about you, even with Mars, Venus and Uranus in me-me-me Aries, challenging efforts to prove otherwise. Self-assertive acts bordering on rebellion may pull focus.

Your push for advancement may be especially aided and abetted if you have a planet or angle around 15 degrees of just about every sign — but especially Cancer, Libra, Capricorn…and super-especially for Aries. Dear readers, your horoscope is much more complex than your Sun Sign.  This is why I do not write daily forecasts for each sign; I believe it does everyone a disservice.  Say you’re a Scorpio with a 14 degree Libra Ascendant and Moon at 15 Aries. Your life might be on fire right about now — for better or for worse — and no general forecast for Scorpio would give you the faintest clue as to why. Get to know your whole horoscope — or hire a trained professional to explain it to you in plain English. It will serve you for life.

But I digress. The energy boost and buzz this week comes courtesy of Mars, as it aligns (tomorrow) with expansive Jupiter. Then it is supercharged by rebel Uranus and potent Pluto on Wednesday. Other patterns of significance include mental Mercury leaving Aquarius for Pisces on Thursday, and Saturn turning retrograde on Saturday until early August.More on that later this week.

The 800 pound gorilla in the room is the buzz of the seventh Uranus-Pluto square, exact next Monday at 9:50PM ET. Will the world end? No, but pay close attention to the headlines this week, because those are the issues to be faced and dealt with for the rest of this decade and beyond. Is it a coincidence that Naomi Klein’s new book, This Changes Everything is being excerpted now by The Guardian? Heck no, and if you’re an avid reader of this forecast, you’ll remember that on the fifth exact Uranus-Pluto square last April, the Big News was a huge shift in awareness that climate change was real. That, and a Princeton study concluding that the United States was no longer a democracy, but an oligarchy.

Unlike the past two weeks, there aren’t many Moon voids to detour your efforts to move forward in a straight line. Moon will be void Wednesday from 3:46PM until 7:30PM ET…and then on Friday from 7:11PM ET until 2:40AM on Saturday. That’s it. So get to work — with depth, intensity and substance.

And now, the news.

With Mars pulling focus, we’d anticipate  more than the usual headlines about aggression, e.g., “UN Report Cites Alarming Level of Attacks Against Women“; or, “Who Spewed That Abuse? Anonymous Yik Yak Isn’t Telling“.  Yik Yak is a free app that is popular among students. At its worst, it’s like a slam book on steroids. Like we need another slam book in cyberspace.

Meanwhile, the Uranus-Pluto square, as I have noted before, presents us with an opportunity to advance initiatives that were started at the beginning of the Uranus-Pluto cycle. That would be the Uranus-Pluto conjunction of 1965-1966. Think of it as equal to a New Moon. The square is like a First Quarter Moon.

Thus it is no coincidence that matters of civil rights have been demanding attention during the past few years. Over the weekend, tens of thousands of people marched in Selma, Alabama, 50 years after 600 civil rights activists attempted to march from Selma to Montgomery  to raise awareness of voting rights inequality.  They were stopped, tear-gassed and beaten by Alabama police. The brutality was televised. Awareness was raised. In August of 1965, Congress passed the Voting Rights Act, prohibiting racial discrimination in voting. How are we doing now?

When Uranus and Pluto make contact, the status quo is disrupted. Consider gender equality, another hotbed issue in the 1960s. I find it fascinating to see how that cause has been re-ignited and re-defined. The issue is now not just one of women’s rights; it’s about rights for transgendered people, too…and rights and recognition for people whose gender identity might even be “none of the above”.

Two final stories. The first reflects a pioneering Venus in Aries, combined with Mars challenging technogeek Uranus (also in Aries) and Pluto (power, transformation). The Facebook page “I F***ing Love Science” posted tributes to sixteen pioneering women scientists — for International Women’s Day. These women deserve to be known.

Second, a follow-up to an article I linked here last week from the NYT about “things we can’t explain” — you know, “woo-woo stuff”  that is rarely discussed in Serious News Publications. You may have heard that over the weekend, a toddler in Utah was rescued from a car that had plunged into a river. It is believed she was trapped for up to 14 hours. Her mother did not survive.  A story published in the Deseret News (“the first news organization and the longest continuously-operating business in the state of Utah — owned by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints”), reports that the four police officers who rescued the child say they heard a voice crying for help. But when they finally found her, she was unconscious. Where did that voice come from? The Guardian makes no mention of the voice. Raw Story picked it up, though. Haven’t read other versions yet.

Cue “Twilight Zone” music now, please….

Astro-logical Forecast for Tuesday 3/13/2012: I Am A Rock

You can bounce out of bed with the boundless enthusiasm suggested by Moon’s ingress into Sagittarius, a sign that has plenty to say and rarely has trouble saying it. Just ask Charlie Sheen, Donald Trump and Newt Gingrich — who all have Moon in Sagittarius.  If you know someone with Moon in Sag who hasn’t found a sounding board for his or her opinion, he or she is probably not a very happy camper.

Use this lunar energy to broaden your horizons. Learn something new; get outdoors; wax philosophical. You may even have a change of perspective as Jupiter, which rules Sagittarius, wraps up the third in a series of trines to powerful Pluto. This change of perspective may likely involve resources. The first trine was on July 7th; the second was on October 28th, and looking at past forecasts around those days we see — notably on October 28th, headlines announcing that European banks had agreed to “take a haircut” (actual wonky technical term) on the Greek debt. If you’ve been following this drama you know that a deal involving this haircut and subsequent Greek default was allegedly agreed to and set to close this week.  Amazing. Review these dates in your own personal world; perhaps there is an issue involving resources that has played out, too.

In other news, be mindful of a potential clash of wills when Mars in micro-managing Virgo clashes with the macro-managing Moon at 7:23PM ET (and with Mercury retrograde, be especially mindful on the roads). Depth of emotion and indulgence is suggested this evening, as loving Venus trines potent Pluto at 9:26PM ET, then cuddles** up with Jupiter, the cosmic sugar daddy at 1:54AM ET Tuesday. Will you have a second helping of dessert? Oh why not, and with whipped cream too. It could all be part of the seduction potential of an equally indulgent physical connection to macho Mars at 3:29AM ET, which in turn makes its own energetic trine with Jupiter at 5:51AM ET.

If you don’t have a partner to play with, hold your head high and project the convincing aura of self-sufficiency that usually blesses and curses those born with an Earth Grand Trine, as you loudly sing your theme song to no one in particular —  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PKY-smJ6aBQ  — with gratitude to Simon & Garfunkel.

Also in effect today is yet another trine that will be exact on Wednesday night  at 8:32PM ET — this one from Mars to ruthless Pluto at 8:32PM. This can add an intensely deep, edgy energy that runs with exceptional efficiency, barring any snafus and gaffes suggested by the challenge of mental Mercury retrograde in impulsive Aries. And challenges there will likely be toward the end of Wednesday, suggested by the Third Quarter Moon at 9:25PM ET.

Whew! Here’s to a creative and productive next two days — make the most of it!

**Yes, “cuddles”.  I read it in the Times — don’t forget to look up at the sky — http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/2012/03/12/science/AP-US-SCI-Planetary-Lineup.html?hp

Astro-logical Forecast for Wednesday 11/16/2011: Of Cabbages and Kings

Moon goes void in Cancer at 12:22AM ET Wednesday….with a long overdue sigh — and perhaps more than a hint of a sobering dose of control or serious challenge to expression. Unexpected twists, crises that turn out to be naught and/or a higher than usual “flake factor” may mark the wee hours and into the workday on the East Coast.

Moon enters drama queen Leo at 11:17AM ET and makes an innovative connection to rebel Uranus at 12:54PM, followed by an over-the-top challenge from expansive Jupiter at 4:33PM ET. A big, creative show or a big, creative party, perhaps? How about a big Hollywood movie premiere with a protagonist whose last name is King?  Yeah, that’ll work for Moon in royal Leo  http://www.rollingstone.com/movies/reviews/the-descendants-20111115

Also highlighting the day is the very physical and exuberant connection between Mars (planet of action) and Jupiter (planet of reward), both of which are making easy contact with Pluto (resources and perspective); read yesterday’s forecast for details of that and also the potentially nebulous connection between Sun and Neptune.

If you were born in the first few days of the earth signs (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn), chances are good that’s there’s an easier flow to material resources than perhaps you have been used to; at the very least you are likely feeling more grounded.

If you were born in the first three days of Aries, Cancer, Libra or Capricorn, do tell us what independent streak you’ve been on since March. What break for independence have you made?

See you tonight at the movies!

Astro-logical Forecast for Wednesday 10/20/2010

Still more Neptune. You may recall a post a few weeks back in which I took a look at California gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman’s birth chart after a former housekeeper alleged that Whitman employed her without checking to see if the housekeeper had a work permit. This was a bit of a problem for Whitman, who apparently has taken a strong position against illegal immigration. Whitman’s chart revealed current challenges from Neptune, suggesting possible idealism, fantasy, escapism, fraud, deception, lies, transcendence, betrayal — you get the idea — and these challenges aren’t going away anytime soon.

Now it has been revealed that when a PR gal (image, illusion) for Whitman announced that the San Diego Sheriff’s Association had endorsed Whitman’s campaign on Monday, there was a typo in her Tweet, thus directing Twitterers to this YouTube video — think tulle, music, alien, intangible, twist, androgyny, rebellious, surreal — in other words a perfect manifestation of nebulous Neptune in the sign of Aquarius trine Mercury in Libra (beauty, balance) on a day with Moon in watery Pisces: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QMWUYMWlEyo&fmt=18   Coincidence or conspiracy? Meanwhile, if any Japanese bass players reading this can tell us what the video is all about, do let us know…

NYers please note that the Moon is void from 6:25- 11:23AM NY time, possibly throwing a wrench into your morning agenda. Let things fall where they may, and definitely go with the flow, chill, brainstorm, focus on the routine; this afternoon the pace ramps up noticeably with the Moon’s entry into “Numero Uno” Aries….followed by Mercury (mind, communication) moving into cuts-like-a-knife Scorpio at 5:19PM NY. WARNING WARNING WARNING — if you are engaged in diplomatic talks, you might do well to choose your words with great care later today, as Moon in impulsive Aries and Venus, Mars — and now Mercury in Scorpio suggest that handling someone with kid gloves is not a top priority. This is also an advisement to restrain your urge to snap back if you happen to be on the receiving end of anyone who has temporarily forgotten their manners or lost their sanity…

Finally, a fabu connection between Mars (action) and expansive Jupiter suggests the potential for boundless enthusiasm (get thee to a gym) or utter bombast.
