Astro-logical Forecast for Tuesday 6/7/2011: Congressman Anthony Weiner

Angelenos, you could probably get away with sleeping late today. A self-indulgent challenge to Moon from loving Venus is exact at 8:27AM PDT, at which time Moon goes void in royal Leo until 12:33PM PDT. If you encounter a twist to your morning routine, a crisis of “sound and fury, signifying nothing”; a general feeling of aimless wandering or other lack of focus, blame the void. Or blame yourself for not taking advantage of a natural break in the usual push forward. Voids are a good time to chill, brainstorm or just be present.

New Yorkers, you might enjoy an especially long lunch — how about a picnic in a park?

At 12:33PM PDT/3:33 EDT Moon moves into perfectionist Virgo, where it will spend the next two days trying to get the facts exactly correct and precise. A supportive, practical connection between Mercury (mind, travel, communication) and disciplined Saturn fights to keep us down-to-earth and focused. However, while the mind may strive to be focused, emotions may lean toward expansion and/or escape. Perhaps you can plan logistics for your August vacation (Mercury will be retrograde then).

Meanwhile, a slow news day yesterday, as Congressman Anthony Weiner held a press conference to announce that yes, he did send allegedly lewd pix of himself to a number of women who are not his wife. Weiner, born Sep 4, 1964 in Brooklyn (birth time unknown) is an allegedly discriminating Virgo with Moon in Leo, suggesting an enormous…need to be loved and adored. This need is either running wild in the horoscope, or augmented by an expansive connection to Jupiter in sensual Taurus. But if the Moon isn’t connected to that expansive, sometimes expensive Jupiter, a sexy hook-up between loving Venus and rarin’ to go Mars definitely is.Add to the Virgo Sun a magnetic connection with ruthless Pluto and a brilliant aspect between rebel Uranus and techno-geek Mercury and you’ve got a guy with a lot of pizzazz. You’ve also got a guy who isn’t afraid to take risks, and in fact, arguably needs to do so.

What’s going on in Weiner’s chart now? Nebulous Neptune (unreal) is exactly on Weiner’s Saturn (real), suggesting “depression, losing focus and a sense of being wronged,” according to master astrologer Noel Tyl. Ahhhh…so that’s why Weiner initially stated that his Twitter account had been hacked, eh? Neptune dissolves whatever it touches. If it’s in touch with Saturn, which represents structure, authority, reality and ambition, reality can feel a bit like quicksand. And this aspect will be prominent in Weiner’s life well into 2012. Also of note w/in the past two weeks: rebel Uranus making contact with Venus (women, social expression), suggesting more than a bit of disruptive excitement in those areas. And of course, Uranus refers to technology, including Twitter. Coincidence or conspiracy?

Astro-logical Forecast for Friday 6/3 and the Weekend: Nebulous Neptune and a Bit of Mitt

Ease into the morning, which begins with a potentially spacey or muddy feel on the East Coast, thanks to nebulous Neptune challenging Mercury, which relates to mind, travel and communication. Take note of your dreams & let me know if yours were especially “out there”. With the Moon now in Cancer, a sign which craves emotional and homeland security, leaving your comfort zone might be difficult, and you may find yourself focused on security concerns. Watch the headlines.

Meanwhile, on the West Coast, the morning may begin with a jolt or a flash of genius, as the security-craving Moon is challenged by disruptive Uranus at 9:04AM LA time/12:04 PM NY time.  The rest of the day you may be challenged by issues involving power and control. Try to respond by seeing the potential for growth offered by the challenge, even if it forces you outside your aforementioned cherished comfort zone.

Big news on Saturday is Jupiter, the cosmic sugar daddy, leaving the pioneering sign of Aries for the stabilizing sign of Taurus at 9:56AM NY time, where it will remain for a year. This is excellent news for Bulls, especially those born in the first ten days of the sign: look back to whatever was going on in your life 12 years ago — what opportunities did you have for expansion and abundance?  The key words for Taurus are I HAVE. Whereas Jupiter in Aries seeks its reward in ego-recognition or the excitement of a newfangled vision (with its accompanying risk), Jupiter in Taurus is can be the one who wants to die with the most toys. Or be the one who digs in his heels and insists that vision be damned, the bottom line is the bottom line.

Sunday dawns with a Moon void from 1:33 AM – 11:03AM NY time (Saturday night hook-ups are likely to be of no consequence), followed by Moon in royal Leo. Today the focus will likely be more on having the most toys than on the bottom line. Leo Moon wants to play, and a square to Moon from expansive Jupiter can be quite grandiose (just ask Charlie Sheen). Have fun!
As for recent headlines in synch with planetary patterns, yesterday Michelle Obama 86ed the Food Pyramid and introduced its replacement, The Food Plate http://www.nytimes.com/2011/06/03/business/03plate.html?_r=1&hpw  So now we can all learn to think differently about something we do every single day. How’s that for a radical new mindset, as this month’s New Moon suggests?

Other headlines in synch with nebulous Neptune in Pisces pulling focus (review the New Moon forecast for details), include toxic chemicals (Neptune) in the Mississippi (Pisces) http://www.nytimes.com/2011/06/03/science/earth/03runoff.html?hp ; email fraud known as spear phishing  (Neptune refers to deception) http://www.nytimes.com/2011/06/03/technology/03hack.html?hp and a seemingly complete non-news story about a “mysterious” shipwreck on Malibu Beach that really isn’t a mystery at all — go figure. If it’s not a slow news day, blame this on Neptune stationary retrograde in Pisces — I mean honestly, New York Times — you put this on the home page????  http://www.nytimes.com/2011/06/03/us/03shipwreck.html?hp

Last but not least, Mitt Romney, a Pisces ruled by Neptune, officially declared himself in the running to be the next President of the United States. Yes, I know I still need to talk about Tim Pawlenty, so I won’t go into too much detail here — and I’ll get around to Pawlenty one day soon, I promise. But here’s what’s interesting about Mitt. Pisces, Moon in Scorpio — this is a man who needs to be seen as someone of depth and substance, who acquires knowledge for the sake of power and control. He knows people. And people like him.

What’s interesting to me is Romney’s Gemini Ascendant is currently being squared by — nebulous Neptune. And Donald Trump’s Leo Ascendant is being challenged by — nebulous Neptune. And Barack Obama’s Midheaven (the other important angle in a horoscope, referring to career and status) is being squared by — nebulous Neptune. What an interesting pattern! Glamor, intrigue, masks, mystery, confusion, delusion, deception, fantasy — or sublime spiritual sacrifice, artistic success (especially in intangible media) — these are keywords for potential manifestations of Neptune in a horoscope.

To be continued…

Astro-logical Forecast for Wednesday 4/13/2011

Well, whaddaya know? Another day of Moon in sunny, playful, regal Leo (never mind the stormy weather here in New York). No ragged, jagged aspects to the Moon that might upset any Royal Highness, either. Enjoy the sense of balance; be patient with whatever bugaboos Mercury retrograde may toss your way, and be prepared to shift into “chill” mode when Moon goes void at 3:38PM EDT…entering meticulous Virgo at 2:40AM EDT.

Astro-logical Forecast for Tuesday 4/12/2011: Benicio Del Toro

Nothing like Moon in sunny, playful Leo to lift our spirits today after yesterday’s looong void in security-conscious Cancer, coupled with a brutal Mars-Pluto square. And a Moon void. During Mercury retrograde. Explosive? Edgy? Weird twists? Accidents? Yes — all of the above in the headlines: a bomb in Belarus, more quakes and elevated crises in Japan, an incident at a nuclear power plant in the US, and continued bickering over resources among our fearless leaders in Washington. And from the field, several reports of feeling cranky and having to count to ten lest a co-worker’s head be bitten off. Whew!

And then…out of nowhere…this headline on the home page of the New York Times: “Benito Del Toro Impregnates Rod Stewart’s Daughter, Not That We Care About Her, But Only Who Her Father Is” http://www.nytimes.com/reuters/2011/04/11/arts/entertainment-us-beniciodeltoro.html?hp  Brutal!  Dear Grey Lady, has the digital age driven you to this? How you must have held your nose whilst delicately penning this opening line, “Noted Hollywood lothario Benicio Del Toro is to become a father for the first time after a fling with one of Rod Stewart’s daughters, a spokeswoman for the actor said on Monday.” Why oh why is this front page news? Let’s consult the astrological rule book: if they’re in the news, the horoscope is hot. What’s going on with Benicio Del Toro?

Born Feb 19, 1967 in San Turce, Puerto Rico (time unknown), Del Toro has a complicated horoscope. Sun in Pisces, with Moon probably in Gemini (need to inform, entertain, be clever, intense and scintillating), and likely in a challenging configuration with Venus (social expression), Saturn (control), disruptive Uranus and emotionally intense Pluto. So we know right away there are going to be issues with the mother, which carry forward into Del Toro’s adult relationships. We also see a likely active sexual profile, one that could well fit a man described as “someone who obsessively seduces and deceives women,” i.e., a “lothario.” Concurrently we see another pattern between Venus, expansive Jupiter and nebulous Neptune that suggests great sensitivity and emotional self-sufficiency. This second pattern functions subconsciously as a defense against relationship. Why does Del Toro need to keep people at a emotional distance? When we look at events in the early home, upsets are suggested between the ages of 4-6, culminating at age 9. What happened? I don’t have an answer for ages 4-6 (though I would certainly ask him in a consultation), but at age 9, Del Toro’s mother died.

All right, but why is he making news NOW? Del Toro, yes. Nameless impregnated woman, no. We see Saturn (controls, structure, father issues) in the horoscope at 28 Pisces, on the Aries Point. Fascinating! Regular readers of this forecast will remember that planets at this point are driven to attract prominence. And you may also remember that we’ve had a number of planets, including expansive Jupiter and disruptive Uranus, trigger that point since January! And for Del Toro, those triggers affected issues in his life related to control, structure and father. And thanks to nebulous Neptune sitting on Del Toro’s Sun in Pisces now through 2012, he will likely be quite bewildered by the sudden disruption (he may win a particularly inspired role in a film, too — but that’s another area of his life).

Enjoy the day with Moon in Leo, free of challenging aspects. Eat. Play. Love. Moon goes void again at 3:58PM EDT — so if it has to ship, do it today.

Astro-logical Forecast for Wednesday 2/16/2011

Another day of few exact aspects, with a notable shift in emotional expression as Moon enters the sign of Leo at 4:14AM EST. Playful, regal, fiery — as opposed to protective, nurturing, sensitive. Inventive and expansive connections to that Moon suggest a good day for creative endeavors, especially with a waxing meet-up between Sun and nebulous Neptune on Thursday.  On the potential plus side: inspiration, soulfulness, sacrifice, healing. On the potential downside: fog, fanatics, deception, escapism. This rose-colored vibe will be in effect all through the weekend, as Mercury (mind, communication) and Mars join in the mix. Sunday could be…interesting…too bad the Oscars aren’t happening then — it’s a much better night for glamor and glitz than the 27th. Can we reschedule?

If you encounter a chill from the women in your life between now and Friday, chalk it up to a waxing square between Saturn (wet blanket, reserve, control) and Venus. Other issues related to love, social expression, money and beauty may also be challenged…making Friday’s Full Moon in Leo ripe for a scene or two. Watch the headlines for prideful stand-offs as the weekend approaches…and enjoy the relative ease suggested by today’s planetary patterns.

Astro-logical Forecast for Friday 10/29/2010 and the Weekend

No major planetary snags on deck for Friday; in fact, the aspects are quite jovial and innovative. Finish all your emotional security-related issues during the last bit of Moon in Cancer…then take a four and half hour rest from 3:48 – 8:38PM NY time — you might even sneak out of  the office early…before someone calls  with an imagined crisis that turns out to be naught. By evening, Moon will be in regal, playful Leo — it’s party time!

No void of course Moon on Saturday to deter your shopping expeditions — you might be inclined to splurge on a luxury item or pampering — though do be mindful that Venus retrograde challenges our ability to determine true value in objects of beauty; outrageously expensive purchases are not recommended at this time.

Since you’ve asked, the horoscope for the March to Keep Fear Alive/Rally to Restore Sanity at 12PM 10/30/2010 in Washington DC  is quite intriguing. Ruthless, explosive, empowering perspective-changing Pluto is rising on the Ascendant of this event — suggesting a potentially powerful impact. Mercury, planet of thought, communication and travel is running wild — ruling over areas related to “big picture” thinking, broadcasting and social service. Mercury is also aligned with a Fixed Star that signifies “positive social reform”. Neptune, planet of the intangible, fantasy, spiritual transcendence, deception and broadcasting is also running wild — this should be an extraordinary forum for expansive, innovative, humanitarian, enthusiastic and compassion communication — defying conventional analysis. Those attending and those observing may not know what to make of this gathering — or even why they are present — except that it represents a powerful force that seeks transcends that which is ugly. The event’s public status is aligned with two other Fixed Stars — one signifying “a different approach”; the other, the “potential for brilliance”. Jupiter, which rules Jon Stewart’s Sun and Moon in Sagittarius, is extremely well-placed in this horoscope, suggesting “optimism, enthusiasm, strength of conviction and expansion will be the central unifying forces” (thanks to Don McBroom for defining Jupiter= Sun/Moon in MIDPOINTS).

The Sun-Moon combination for this day — Sun in Scorpio, Moon in Leo, reads as follows (with thanks to Noel Tyl for this definition): “Two power signs struggle to get the message out: ‘I am a very deep person, reliable and right as right; and you must recognize that and know how good I am for you!’ Excesses of emotion show up as the temperamental trappings for well-organized personal opinion and bias. Understanding the motivation behind the thrust for power is very important to success.” (Note this is the same Sun-Moon combination as Ken Mehlman, whom I wrote about a few months ago). Is astrology cool or what? I’ll be on the Mall wearing the purple witch’s hat, in an early celebration of…

Halloween…on Sunday! Could be weird and mystical, with a Moon void from 5:02 – 11:51PM NY time — right on a connection to nebulous Neptune. Go easy on the punch. Your powers of discernment will be required to make an appearance first thing Monday morning. Be on time.

Astro-logical Forecast for Monday 10/4/2010

Contact between nebulous Neptune and Moon in playful Leo can produce fanciful, ungrounded results, especially when the Moon is void-of-course. How else to explain pouring cold water over coffee grounds on a rainy Monday morning  : )  Moon-Neptune contact also suggests noting your dreams upon waking and letting your imagination run wild; you’ve got six hours (9:53AM – 4PM NY) before the Moon enters Virgo and demands an accounting, with t’s crossed and i’s dotted, if you please.

At 2AM Tuesday NY/11PM tonight in LA, investigative Pluto challenges Mercury (mind, communication, travel), revealing more news from the underground…likely in these veins: 1) thousands of foreclosures are halted because it is revealed that the paperwork is faulty; 2) hope arises that the trapped miners in Chile may soon be rescued — this came across the wires as I was typing; 3) and this one http://www.nytimes.com/2010/10/02/health/research/02infect.html?scp=1&sq=guatemala%20wellesley&st=cse — a Wellesley College professor uncovers an unsavory medical experiment that happened over 60 years ago, loaded with the symbolism of the weekend’s sexual Mars-Venus hook-up in Scorpio.

Back to Pluto challenging Mercury today and what it means for you: temper your words; pause before you unleash, lest you do damage with sharp insights expressed in cutting remarks. Positive manifestation: a sharp focus that enables you to get to heart of what’s on your plate, especially when the Moon moves into analytical Virgo later today.

Astro-logical Forecast for Friday 10/1/2010 and the Weekend

Get it done today — don’t leave it until Monday, especially if you’re on the East Coast. Monday the Moon will be void-of-course between 9:53AM and 4PM NY time; Angelenos can expect the work week won’t get into gear until after 1PM. And after this week’s heavy influence from Saturn the taskmaster, odds are good you’ve got a hefty to-do list on your desk this morning. So have at it, with a big dose of optimism likely provided by a face-off between Mercury (mind, communication) and expansive Jupiter. Some of the ideas and opinions expressed today may be downright outrageous.

Speaking of Mercury, it makes contact with the Big T-Square Party among the heavies beginning today with the aforementioned face-off against Jupiter at 6:36PM NY tonight, brilliant but Uranus tomorrow at 10:24AM, ruthless investigator Pluto on Tuesday and controlling Saturn next Friday. During this time span communications and travel may be erratic or otherwise jarring — in possibly productive ways such as technological breakthroughs and corruption exposed. On the down side, I’m anticipating a lot of spin in the headlines — likely over highly charged words that can’t be taken back. On a personal level, though your insights may be absolutely right, think it through before you open your mouth or hit “send” — your audience might not be ready to hear it.

Fortunately this is a weekend where you may not need to say much at all. The Moon will be in dramatic, playful Leo as of 2:21 PM NY (shoppers note the void from 11:21PM – 2:21PM NY – resist the urge to splurge at that time). Your urge to indulge in pleasures that are not material can be richly rewarding, thanks to a sexy, steamy hook-up between loving Venus and assertive Mars in Scorpio at 5:59PM NY. Find a partner and play — and if you don’t have a partner, get in touch with your inner child and create something of depth and substance.

Astro-logical Forecast for Friday 9/3/2010 and the Weekend

Read yesterday’s forecast for thoughts on today’s Moon in Cancer. A need for emotional security is the prime directive for the Moon in this sign, so on this holiday weekend (Monday is a holiday in the US) the focus is likely to be what makes us feel comfortable and/or at home. Art, music, romance, spirit — all that makes life beautiful is also especially favored.

On Sunday, Moon enters playful Leo at 5:45AM and carries us through Labor Day. Playing on Labor Day — what a great idea. We’re in the dark side of the Moon — the New Moon happens on Wednesday AM, which is when the work week will really begin.
