Astro-logical Forecast for Thursday-Sunday 10/13-16/2011: Fascinating Rhythms

It could be argued that the prime directive of Moon in Taurus is to keep things as they are, for the sake of preserving security, especially material security: food, shelter, clothing. It also needs to “keep the peace” and it can be quite stubborn in its efforts. It does not like change! It also needs to keep things real, an effort that is supported by yesterday’s Sun-Saturn hook-up (read forecasts from earlier in the week), and yet is currently challenged by an obsessive connection between crusading Mars and fantasy-driven Neptune that can feel like you’ve just fallen down a rabbit hole. Isn’t it amazing to see the words “rabbit hole” on the front page of the New York Times, especially in conjunction with one of the ultimate words in material security? http://www.nytimes.com/2011/10/14/opinion/rabbit-hole-economics.html?_r=1&hp Coincidence or conspiracy?

Friday’s early AM hours have an edge, as that stubborn Taurus Moon is challenged by action-oriented Mars in Leo (a placement known for success at getting away with murder). I’m hoping that as the day progresses, we’ll be more in tune with a jubilant, if a tad expensive/over-indulgent connection between Jupiter, the cosmic sugar daddy and Venus, the planet associated with love, money, art and beauty.

Saturday AM kicks off with a Moon void from 6:52AM to 10:15AM; folks on the West Coast likely won’t even notice it, though dreams may be more vivid than usual, courtesy of a connection between Moon and nebulous Neptune. Moon moves into the pixie-chatterbox sign of Gemini at 10:15AM ET, where it will delight in spreading the word all over town. What’s the buzz? Tell me what’s happening! Could be intense and dirt may be revealed, suggested by a connection between Mercury (mind, communication), now in the deeply substantive, spare-no-feelings sign of Scorpio — and everyone’s favorite planet, ruthless Pluto. Try to keep it light.

Meanwhile, in the headlines…Thursday’s heaviness of controlling Saturn in Libra (fairness, justice, the law) conjunct the Sun (life-force) was reflected in so many ways. Convicted inside-trader Raj Rajaratnam was sentenced to 11 years in prison — the second heaviest sentence yet for the three people who have been prosecuted for financial misdeeds since the 2008 financial crisis http://dealbook.nytimes.com/2011/10/13/rajaratnam-is-sentenced-to-11-years/?hp (Bernie Madoff got a longer sentence, and the third guy got…hmmm….maybe there wasn’t a third, as Martha Stewart served her time before 2008, I think).

In Connecticut, the second defendant in a deeply disturbing home invasion/triple murder case was found guilty of all charges. In Washington, the foiled plot by Iran (allegedly) to assassinate the Saudi ambassador to the US is being taken very, very seriously, with potentially heavy consequences to follow http://www.nytimes.com/2011/10/14/us/obama-calls-for-iran-sanctions-following-alleged-plot.html?hp  And in New York, Mayor Bloomberg has informed Occupy Wall Street that they must move out so Zuccotti Park can be cleaned — and that they will no longer be permitted to bring camping gear into the Park. OWS responded by accusing Bloomberg of trying to shut down the protests. It subsequently began efforts to clean up the park on their own and have vowed to stand firm against actions by law enforcement to kick them out. Heavy!

The horoscope for Friday, October 14th at 7AM in New York, NY is fascinating. Controlling Saturn and Sun are rising — within eight minutes of clamping down on the Ascendant (the persona of the moment, if you will) — talk about an iron fist in a velvet glove! Idealism rules. There’s an obsessive push for prominence. And of course that Moon in Taurus suggests neither side is going to back down. And what’s particularly fascinating is this: the Ascendant (one of the most important points in a horoscope, after the Sun and the Moon), is 19 degrees of Libra — “a gang of robbers in hiding”.  Does that ring a bell? This is the degree of the Sun in Tuesday’s full Moon!! Re-read the forecast for the Full Moon, and before your head really explodes, consider THIS: the Midheaven (public image) of the horoscope of New York is…19 Aries (“a magic carpet” — how fitting and inspiring for a city known for its skyscrapers).

If you’re an astrology student you can ponder the significance of this fascinating synchronicity and symbolism on how New York is serving as a local lightning rod for the global event of this month’s Full Moon. To other readers, I’m pointing this out to illustrate that when we see planetary patterns repeating themselves, it suggests that something of significance is happening!

In Zuccotti Park, I will be interested to see what happens around 8:30AM and what develops between 11:30AM and 1:30PM.

To be continued…

And thanks to all of you who have shared these forecasts with the rest of the free world. Much appreciated!

Astro-logical Forecast for Friday 7/22/2011 and the Weekend: Nasty, Naughty Bits

Friday begins with a continued charge set by the pioneering Aries Moon on Wednesday and Thursday, but likely with less bumps and jolts — ending with a sigh as the Moon goes void at 5:34PM ET. Angelenos, I hope you can skip out of town early today. If there are bumps and jolts, a control freak who running — out of control (!) — might be the source. Check to see that it isn’t you.
Moon enters stubborn, sensual, stability craving Taurus at 12:58AM ET on Saturday and is immediately challenged by the Sun in playful Leo. Bring it on! Overindulgence is a possibility today, but you’re likely to have a lot of fun indulging in your guilty pleasures all through Sunday. With a Moon void on Monday from 9:12AM to 12:34PM ET, you should have plenty of extra time to recover before the work week begins. You’ll then have four days to get things signed, sealed and delivered. Moon is void all day on Friday. Mercury is grinding to a halt (metaphorically speaking) and turns retrograde on August 2nd. Back up your computers NOW. I have learned the hard way how machines have an odd way of spazzing out under this planetary pattern.

In other news, I confess I do sometimes refrain from posting parts of this forecast. Yesterday I wrote an entire paragraph on likely continued manifestations of an obsessive connection between ruthless Pluto and aggressive Mars AND Venus (social expression, love, art, beauty). I anticipated headlines involving sex, brutality, sharp cuts involving resources or emotions and/or something nasty bubbling up to the surface from underground. I deleted it in the interest of focusing on other patterns which felt more immediately optimistic : )  For the record, however, I would like to note the following headlines:  a high-end prostitution ring likely catering to Wall Street clients is busted ttp://www.cnbc.com/id/43830471–a sewage spill stinks up the Hudson River in Manhattan   http://www.nytimes.com/2011/07/22/nyregion/sewage-spill-renders-new-york-harbor-unfit.html?hp X-ray (Pluto refers to radiation) body scanners are allegedly modified http://www.govtech.com/public-safety/Naked-Body-Scans-Airports-Phased-Out.html and the coal industry scores a victory against regulation http://www.truth-out.org/republicans-approve-regulation-blocking-coal-bill-alecs-wish-list/1311185463 and fracking near a Pennsylvania reservoir stuns local residents http://www.truth-out.org/fracking-drinking-water-source-80000-pennsylvanians-raises-alarms/1311168512

Ooh — one more thing. Was anyone watching the markets yesterday? (Of course not, you’re not on assignment at CNBC). But if you were watching the markets, you would have seen them rally on a breaking news headline around lunchtime: “Powers That Be Close To Deal on the Debt Ceiling.” Hooray! A miracle! Minutes later, the headline was denounced as false by wet blankets in all camps. Boooooo! The markets retreated. Why I am telling you this? Read yesterday’s forecast… : )

Have a great weekend!!

Astro-logical Forecast for Thursday 1/13/2011

Look to the Moon in Taurus, which needs to build and preserve security and stability, to bring a calmer vibe to the next couple of days. This is your chance to give form to the ideas and projects you have on your plate. Be productive!

Mercury, ruling mind, communication and travel shifts from opinionated Sagittarius into practical, make-it-happen Capricorn for the next few weeks. This could also bring those inclined to high-flying and/or exaggerated opinions back down to earth — though it may take a day for us to adjust to this shift in communications and thought.

Meanwhile, in Arizona, thousands were cheered by the news that Gabrielle Giffords opened her eyes for the first time since Saturday. President Obama announced the news, saying, “”She knows we’re here, and she knows we love her.”

Given that Giffords has Moon in Leo, a placement suggesting a strong need to be loved and adored,  this struck me as a particularly fitting — and potentially healing — public announcement. All week I’ve been thinking of writing that if you happen to believe that thoughts can influence others who are thousands of miles away, it couldn’t hurt to send a loving message to Gabrielle Giffords. And if you’re personally involved with someone who has Moon in Leo — you now have a piece of information you can use to keep that relationship flowing smoothly : )

Astro-logical Forecast for Friday 10/22/2010 and the Weekend

Astro-logical Forecast for Friday 10/22/2010 and the Weekend

Glamorous, charismatic, sublime, surrender, fanatical, transcendental — or perhaps a weird combination of all the above. Whatever it is you’re dealing with today — in your life or in the news — it may not even feel real — but it can still be a delicious escape. It can also be a day of particularly powerful, incisive communication — as a result of intense investigation — we may see some strong personas making especially bold statements in an effort to inspire/influence — watch the headlines. You can also apply this depth of perception to projects of your own.

Moon is still in me-me-me Aries — waxing full at 9:37PM NY. You may recall last month’s Full Moon was also in Aries, a sign that needs to be Number One — and isn’t that an interesting counterpoint to the focus on relationships we’ve been working on all month? What do we really want in our relationships and what are we willing to give in order to get it? That’ll be an interesting question, given that less than an hour after waxing full, Moon moves into sensual, yet stubborn and possessive Taurus, where it usually aims to keep things as they are.

Saturday Sun leaves Libra for Scorpio, joining Mercury, Venus and Mars and increasing the demand for substance over theory in an effort to control. See if you notice the shift in intensity. Sunday’s notable aspect is an easy connection between Mars, planet of action and inventive Uranus, suggesting headlines about progress made in projects benefiting the common good, maybe with a creative dose of technology. Not the worst aspect to have on United Nations Day, eh?

Astro-logical Forecast for Monday 9/27/2010

You can apply some creative thinking to ways you might build structure and stability today, or come up with a host of imaginative excuses on why things should — or must —  stay the same (watch the headlines). Projects requiring focus and discipline are favored this week; use the next few days to fine-tune your structure (such as a business plan or proposal); by Thursday news is likely to arrive that either helps you move forward in a practical way or throws a wet blanket on your grand plans, suggesting another look at the drawing board. That’s because the Sun (life energy) makes its annual meet up with Saturn, the planet of control, discipline, contraction and structure — on Thursday. Since the meeting is happening in Libra, fairness, justice, diplomacy and/or a serious relationship are also likely to be on the agenda.

Astro-logical Forecast for Friday 9/24/2010 and the Weekend

Reports from the field confirm that this was indeed a particularly intense, proactive Full Moon, just as anticipated. I’m hearing stories of explosive confrontations (ego-based), sudden crises in a doctor’s office and an overall busier-than-business as usual mood of the day. Also hearing stories of deals coming close to fruition — especially speculative proposals backed by an enthusiastic and innovative sales pitch — and all of this fits within the realm of possibility suggested by the planets this week.

Today the Moon is still in me-me-me Aries, suggesting abundant enthusiasm and pioneering strategies, on the one hand — and the possibility for more ego spats if someone feels they are not being Recognized. TGIF! While the Moon (emotional response) is not being buffeted around like tumbleweed today, we are approaching a challenge between ruthless Pluto and the Sun, exact Saturday at 8:24PM NY. Already we are seeing in the headlines more revelations of corruption in hallowed institutions, like GMAC admitting that it signed off on thousands of foreclosures without actually reading any of the files, despite the fact that it was legally obligated to do so. And then there are health “insurers”, scrambling as best they can to put their bottom line first, no matter what (which, for the record,  they are legally obligated to do), with endearing strategies like eliminating health insurance policies for children. Ruthless! And — what’s this? Minutes ago, this headline in the New York Times: “Hidden Under Tax-Exempt Cloak, Political Dollars Flow”. Well, thanks to Pluto moving through Capricorn, they’re not hidden anymore ; )

Saturday the Moon is Void from 9:12AM – 4:17PM NY — so consider yourself advised to avoid impulse shopping during this time period. Odds are you don’t really need it — and later you’ll wonder why you bought it. The key word here is “impulse”. If it’s something you’ve already scoped out, planned to purchase — and are just waiting for the weekend to pick it up, that’s another story. You may find the day better spent catching up on sleep, exercising, meditating or just wandering around and seeing where the day takes you. Let me know if you encounter any twists.

Moon moves into sensual Taurus at 4:17PM NY for the rest of the weekend, making dynamic connections to both Mars (action) and Venus (social expression), suggesting a Saturday and Sunday well-spent indulging in pleasures of the senses, especially with a significant other if you’ve got one hanging around. Even if you’re flying solo, the weekend can be delightful.
