Astro-logical Forecast for Monday & Tuesday 7/15-16/2013: It’s Later Than You Think…

The work week began with Moon in Libra, suggesting a need for fairness, balance and all manners of equilibrium and social graces in relationship. I don’t know about you, but this morning’s challenge — at 6:38AM ET — between the rational Moon and mental Mercury in emotional Cancer seemed to have everyone yakking about something. I can’t tell you how many animated conversations I overheard — whether I wanted to hear them or not. Mercifully, the buzz settled down after lunch…and as I am typing this now, I look forward to a lovely and indulgent aspect between Venus (beauty, art, women) and the refined Moon to set the scene for a free concert in Central Park.

Round about midnight we can expect a challenge to whatever agenda was set at last Monday’s  New Moon, as the Sun is squared by the Moon. You may recall the Sabian Symbol offered us the image of a seedling or a germinating idea. Do we like what we have planted? And here I would be thinking of the story that is currently dominating the news — at least in the US — which is the verdict that came down on Saturday, finding would-be law enforcement officer George Zimmerman not guilty of murder — or even manslaughter — despite Zimmerman clearly and deliberately firing the gun which put a bullet into the heart of Trayvon Martin.

With regard to the verdict — note that it was reached on a void-of-course Moon in perfection-seeking, hair-splitting Virgo.  Unexpected twists and upsets favoring the underdog are more likely during voids. So are actions taken that don’t go much of anywhere. Note that Mercury is still retrograde, suggesting the potential for flawed thinking based on incomplete or inaccurate information that will have to be corrected once Mercury turns direct. It was interesting to see this article alleging that the jury was given very specific instructions — and limited information — about the “Stand Your Ground” law under which Zimmerman was able to be acquitted. Keep in mind, however, the general rule for Mercury retrograde and the news: take what you hear with a grain of salt; double check everything, as suggested by this item alleging certain reporters and police officials in Los Angeles falsely reported that rowdy protestors damaged a hotel.

With the Moon’s ingress into Libra on Sunday, there was indeed much outrage over the verdict’s unfairness. Comparisons were made to another Florida case in 2012 where an African-American woman was sentenced to 20 years in prison. Her crime? Firing warning shots into the air in an effort to defend herself against an abusive husband. Yet the “Stand Your Ground” law apparently did not apply to her. Says Libra Moon: IT’S NOT FAIR!.

Meanwhile, another stark illustration of inequality and unfairness in relationship began making the rounds on Facebook. It’s a jaw-dropping, absolutely must-see four minute “candid camera” video showing how a certain class of people reacted to three apparent bicycle thieves. Seriously. Watch it — and pass it on — it’ll give you something to talk about. I wish everyone in the country would take the time to watch — and then spend three hours discussing it.

Note that the Moon goes void of course at 11:18PM ET on Monday night….not to enter Scorpio until Tuesday at 10:24AM ET. You know what that means. An evening to chill. A slow start to your day or twist in your efforts to move forward in a straight line on Tuesday morning. On the plus side, you can usually sleep in and get away with it. Your other Moon void for the week happens between 7:13AM ET and 1:54PM ET on Thursday. No launches, important meetings or contract signings during that period if you please.

Once the Moon enters Scorpio on Tuesday at 10:24AM, rationalizations may be  abandoned in order to fulfill a need for greater depth, substance and passion. An easy connection to Moon from Mars at 2:14PM ET fuels action, perhaps of a passive-aggressive or subversive kind. The hours leading up to 7PM ET offer a mixed message: jolly Jupiter offers an enthusiastic boost to the Moon’s need for depth, followed by a serious reality check from stern Saturn, which may be shrugged off entirely by a dose of dreamy fog from nebulous Neptune. For now, the need is for containment and control, suggested partly by the super-cool, Ray-ban sporting Scorpio Moon. The other part is suggested by the emotionally self-sufficient Grand Water Trine among Jupiter, Saturn and Neptune that will be exact tomorrow. Good for business, good for faith; good for business based on faith.

Astro-logical Forecast for Thursday 3/8/2012: Full Moon in Virgo — With a Twist

Moon waxes full at 4:39AM ET and promptly goes void until 11:50PM ET, releasing the build-up of energy and emotion into a potentially amorphous, wandering freefall. With long voids like these, it can be challenging to move purposefully in a straight line. What might that look like? Here’s an amusing drawing I found on Some Guy’s Blog — the drawing has made plenty of rounds on Facebook. This particular link will also take you to the Myers-Brigg Personality Test, if you’re in need of more details on your own particular wiring  http://www.intellectualstimulations.com/what-success-really-looks-like/

OK, where was I? Right. The void. The challenge of moving in a straight line. See if you notice any twists, flakes and/or crises in your day that turn out to be all for naught. Those crises might concern a tension between the need for details and getting it right and a desire to just go with the flow. Take it all in stride. It’s a good day to chill, brainstorm, meditate, rest and take care of things that have no need to be of serious consequence. If you need a topic for your meditation, consider how you can better balance the needs of the body, work, service and all the exacting details (Moon in Virgo) vs. the needs of the soul for at-one-ment and other intangibles (Sun in Pisces).

In other news, you have to love Apple’s perfect timing: launching the new iPad on a hook-up between mental Mercury and technogeek Uranus, both  in pioneering Aries. OMG, what a great idea — everybody is going to want one! Mercury and Uranus will hookup again precisely on March 18th and April 22nd, suggesting plenty of other brilliant innovations making headlines between now and then.

Astro-logical Forecast for Thursday & Friday 6/9-10/2011: More on Congressman Anthony Weiner

As I advised earlier this week, Moon went void in Virgo at 4:13AM EDT — not to enter the next sign, Libra, until  6:31PM EDT. For East Coasters, this suggests a day to chill, brainstorm, take care of that which is routine (with Virgo, you could go nuts cleaning and/or organizing). It does not suggest panic, although the likelihood of someone flipping out over an imagined crisis (that turns out to be nothing of consequence), is increased during Moon voids. If you are challenged to move in a straight line today, just be mindful that you may encounter a twist, a flake or otherwise find yourself somewhat off course. See where it takes you.

My Moon void began with the realization that the technology I brought with me to an undisclosed rural Maine location does not support posting the daily forecast, and the only car available to take me into town had been driven to a golf course. OK, fine, there are worse commutes than walking two miles down a country road. Off I went, and after a mile or so, a passing car gave me a lift to my final destination, the local library. The resident library cats here are curious and affectionate, excellent company, and highly effective mousers.  So yes, the forecast is late, but all in all, this break in routine has been refreshing and restful. May you have a similar peaceful break today!

At 6:31PM EDT Moon enters socially-conscious, people-pleasing Libra, where it makes an immediate happy connection with loving Venus. Grab your rose-colored glasses, as the planet of love, beauty and money is also challenged by nebulous Neptune, exact at 4:25AM on Friday. If those rose-colored glasses turn out to be beer goggles, don’t say you weren’t warned. Under the influence of Venus-Neptune aspects transcendental, story-book connections can happen. They can also fade away in harsh light of reality. Artistic and spiritual vision can also be stimulated, so this is good news for creative types — and may be good news for your local con man.

Up in rural Maine, there is no sign of Congressman Anthony Weiner in the local paper. Instead I’m looking at a front-page article commemorating a teacher’s 40+ years of service. And on this Page 6, an exciting piece about a reporter’s daring rescue of four abandoned baby raccoons. But I see from the NY Times and other sources that l’affaire Weiner is still hot.

When I was looking at the Congressman’s chart a couple of days ago, tracking patterns that reflect this unfortunate event in his life, I could not help but notice not one, but multiple measurements that suggest the period of 2008 (that’s as far back as I looked) up to now was generally a time of great fulfillment and joy in his personal life. Even without an exact birth time (which we need for rising sign and midheaven), there are enough connections between Sun and Venus — as recently as March  2011 — that would likely be reflected as a happy time for marriage — and yes, the birth of a child. And yesterday it was revealed in the New York Times that Weiner’s wife is….pregnant.

Drilling down even deeper, I examined aspects between planets and the midpoints among planets. In November of 2009, we see an arc between disruptive, risk-taking Uranus and the midpoint of loving Venus and horny Mars which translates, according  to Noel Tyl’s outstanding reference texts as “intense passion; high nervous involvement with things sexual; sexual experimentation; dangerous liaison.” Weiner reportedly began his sexting adventures three years ago. His horoscope strongly suggests a need for risk and excitement. Makes me wonder what others born around September 4, 1964 have been doing in their spare time…

Life is complicated and filled with contradictions. Planetary patterns reflect life. Was it inevitable that this unfortunate series of events would happen in Weiner’s life? I would argue it wasn’t inevitable. But his horoscope suggests a vulnerability to such events. And maybe, just maybe…if Weiner were aware of this vulnerability beforehand, he might have used his awareness and free will to make more empowering choices under clear-as-day times of stress. That’s one way astrology can be of service.
