Astro-logical Forecast for Thursday 11/29/2012: A Day for a Long Lunch

Last night the Gemini Moon made contact with jolly Jupiter at 8:04PM ET, suggesting a buoyant mood that will carry us through today.  Did you buy your lottery tickets? Of course it was a mad frenzy with Jupiter conjunct the Moon. People are thinking BIG!

The hook-up with Jupiter is the last planetary connection Moon will make while it is in Gemini…and…having made that last contact, the Moon is now said to be “void-of-course” until it enters the next sign (Cancer) at 8:55AM ET on FRIDAY. Everybody clear on that? This loooooong period of the Moon DWV (Driving While Void) suggests a natural break in the action — for you, for me, for everyone. Chill if you can. Meditate. Cogitate. Do something playful that engages your mind in an informative way, but without any expectation of results. If you are Barack Obama, invite Mitt Romney to lunch. Sure, the flake factor is higher during Moon voids, as well as surprise twists in efforts to move forward in a straight line. But the press won’t be there, so who cares? Plus, aggressive Mars has moved past ruthless Pluto, and is now in a cooperative, communicative and downright appealing connection with loving Venus. Very smart!

People are still googling “Mitt Romney horoscope,” wondering what opportunities may be in store. Well, he’s just had a classic “ego wipeout”. This term was coined by astrologer Noel Tyl and has been discussed in prior forecasts. Nebulous Neptune symbolically shrouded Mr. Romney’s personal projection,  self-image and mindset in a rapturous rose-colored fog; many were bedazzled; many more were  bewildered — and in the end, it was nothing more than a dream. Wipeout. And it’s not completely over until the end of the year. Seriously, this is a classic pattern astrologers see over and over in horoscopes.

When Neptune is prominent, seeing things clearly — realistically — is often a big challenge. The love of your life turns out to be  married with a family in Denver.  Your business partner invested the money, lost it and did not tell you. Alcohol and drugs become verrrrry appealing. You decide to join a cult. Your Type A personality can’t find the energy to get to kick-boxing class…for an entire year. Yes, there are ways to manage these phases constructively, especially if you’re an artist or a healer. But if they are not handled constructively and the bubble bursts…wipeout!

Mr. Romney now has Saturn, the planet of “Get Real”, moving through the area of his horoscope that refers to cooperation, health, work and service. He could spend the next two years restructuring these areas and find himself in a genuinely happier place around December 2014 — with a renewed sense of  purpose he’s ready to take public. Let’s all wish him well.

And now, the news. First, reflecting the theme of constructive transformation and advancement in relationship noted on Tuesday, columnist David Brooks penned a provocative piece called “How People Change”. The reader comments on this one are equally provocative. And, just in time for yesterday’s eclipse in Gemini-Sagittarius, suggesting a bottleneck in areas of information and communication, Gail Collins wrote a witty, informative (and thus very Moon-in-Gemini) piece about one of the most talked-about bottlenecks affecting the Senate: the filibuster. And here’s how some people outside of the Senate are trying to unclog this major traffic jam.

Remember, in your own personal world, the Moon is void-of-course all day.Go with the flow — even if you’re stuck in a bottleneck or jam. And if all else fails, take a really long lunch…and watch this gorgeous ten-minute film about an unusual lunch date in Grand Central Station.  I guarantee this happened during a void-of-course Moon! I guarantee you will love this film!

Astro-logical Forecast for Thursday 2/2/2012: Neptune in Pisces

Another day light on planetary activity, though the buzz that began yesterday afternoon continues with Moon still in Gemini, needing to be the smartest one in the room. Who, what, when, where and how? Ideas can flow easily and with feeling as you wake up this morning, courtesy of a smooth connection between Moon and mental Mercury.

Today is your last chance to experience a full day of nebulous Neptune in Aquarius — and here, I mean the last chance in your lifetime. On Friday at 1:52PM ET, Neptune enters Pisces, the sign it rules.  Neptune energy can be challenging for people who live in a material world, as it prefers the immaterial and ephemeral to the material and permanent. Neptune tends to dissolve whatever it touches, leaving you with the feeling that you’re standing in quicksand. Or in a fog. It doesn’t strike with a lightning bolt, like Uranus, or blow things to smithereens, purging and/or transforming, like Pluto. Its effects are much more subtle, but no less powerful.

Here are a few key words for Neptune:  intangible forms (wireless communication including film, photography, telepathy, intuition, spirituality, rarefied art forms, including music), oil, dreams, drugs, blood, alcohol, poisons, viruses, water, oceans, seafood.   A few key words for Pisces: surrender, empathy, compassion, collective consciousness, belief, martyr, saint. We can anticipate with confidence that headlines over the next 14 years will reflect these keywords with increasing levels of intensity.

It takes about 14 years for Neptune to travel through one sign of the zodiac; the last time Neptune entered Pisces was in 1847. Thanks to astrologer Steffan Vanel for bringing my attention to a post by astrologer Adrian Duncan noting some key developments during Neptune’s last transit through Pisces in the mid-19th Century. Note that the “social democratic demonstrations” (e.g., the “Year of Revolutions of 1848” http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Revolutions_of_1848), coincided with Uranus and Pluto hooking up in the cardinal sign of Aries. Note also that Uranus and Pluto are four months away from a three-year long series of seven exact challenges to each other (and that we’ve been feeling the build-up for over a year) in Aries and Capricorn, respectively. Note also that when Uranus and Pluto do make contact, the effect is one of upheaval. But I digress. Here’s the bit on Neptune’s last transit through Pisces:

“This was the period when Charles Dickens wrote his novels of social realism, and social democratic demonstrations shook the capitals of Europe. This was also a time when painters like Renoir, Gauguin, Van Gogh, Cezanne and Monet made their impressionist paintings, expanding the world of fantasy and imagination. On the scientific front Darwin’s theory of evolution completely undermined Christian tradition. The first photographs were taken, ultimately leading to the coming world of the movies. Anesthetics were used for the first time in hospitals. Opium became a socially acceptable drug. The accepted reality of the day was undermined and new spiritual, emotional and political realities took form.”

This year, Neptune in Pisces will affect you most strongly if you have a birthday — or a planet, rising sign or midheaven in the early degrees of Pisces, Gemini, Virgo and Sagittarius. On the plus side, there is potential for a spiritual awakening or transcendence; artistic and/or romantic stimulation and/or success. On the down side there is the potential for bewilderment or listlessness. Consult your local astrologer for further details on how Neptune is likely affecting your own personal horoscope. Meanwhile, you can watch Mitt Romney in action as one example of how Neptune can completely fog up efforts of personal projection as it challenges his Gemini Ascendant. Here’s what happened yesterday: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/02/02/opinion/collins-mitt-speaks-oh-no.html?hp http://www.nytimes.com/2012/02/02/us/politics/poor-quote-by-romney-seized-on-by-his-critics.html?hp  Bewildering, eh?

Astro-logical Forecast for Wednesday 6/22/2011: Nebulous Neptune in the News

Keep your grounding cord down as the Moon in soulful Pisces continues its free fall, not to enter the next sign, Aries, until after midnight. For details on the energy of a void-of-course Moon, check out the ESSAYS section on my website, www.graceastrology.com. If you must move in a straight line today, then move you must; just be advised that the chances of getting off track are increased, so roll with whatever twists may come your way. If you do have freedom to float, follow your bliss. Creative and healing activities are highly favored.

Two powerful aspects from nebulous Neptune in its home sign of Pisces are exact today. Neptune squares aggressive Mars and trines the life-giving Sun. Neptune tends to dissolves whatever it touches, especially structures and other material things. Clouds, fog, glamor, charisma and other intangibles such as music, photography, healing and spirit are related to Neptune. When Neptune is strong in a horoscope, things may not be as they seem. Fact checking and reading the fine print more than once becomes essential.
How might Neptune square Mars manifest in an individual horoscope? For one possibility, look no further than today’s front-page profile of would-be president Michele Bachman http://www.nytimes.com/2011/06/22/us/politics/22bachmann.html?hp  Sarah Palin has this aspect. So does Glenn Beck. Newt Gingrich and Bill Clinton also have intense connections between Mars and Neptune (not squares, however).

In the headlines yesterday I noted a few Neptune-influenced stories in the headlines. In the business world, it was noted that the debt-ridden city of Harrisburg, the capital of PA is appealing to God to help solve its financial woes with a three-day prayer and fast in which the mayor will participate http://blogs.reuters.com/faithworld/2011/06/18/harrisburg-pennsylvania-turns-to-god-for-fiscal-relief/  In the media, a UK newspaper apologizes for publishing a sex scandal that turned out to be fake http://www.pressgazette.co.uk/story.asp?sectioncode=1&storycode=47324&c=1 …and so was this press release announcing that a US company had been accused of fraud http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/06/21/china-accounting-hoax-idUSN1E75K0ON20110621  Meanwhile, JP Morgan Chase will pay millions to settle with the SEC over charges it misled investors http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052702303936704576399971570631618.html?mod=googlenews_wsj And finally, we have this front page story about an innovative new camera http://www.nytimes.com/2011/06/22/technology/22camera.html?hp

Astro-logical Forecast for Thursday 6/2/2011

No major aspects among the planets today, and yet there’s a lot going on. How can this be? First, Moon is running wild in information junkie Gemini, possibly spreading news — or rumors — like a virus or some other infection. I say this, noting Moon in Gemini running wild, combined with Mercury’s (mind, information, communication) challenge from nebulous Neptune in Pisces. Fact check what you hear, especially if it’s on the news.  The challenge between Mercury and Neptune is exact early Friday AM. You can best apply it to exalted spiritual practices, music, fine art and healing modalities. Excesses of alcohol and other drugs may be tempting, but best avoided. Your brain may be foggy enough as it is.

But wait — there’s more! Mercury is leaving the steady sign of Taurus for the glib, multi-tasking, clever but often scattered sign of Gemini at 4:03PM EDT. That “wobble” could take a day of adjustment as our brains adapt to the quickened pace. Neptune is at a halt in the sky, about to turn retrograde early Saturday morning at zero degrees of Pisces, the sign it rules. Neptune refers to viruses and infections. Could news of a particularly potent strain of E coli spreading across Germany be a corollary to this planet pulling focus? http://www.nytimes.com/2011/06/02/world/europe/02ecoli.html?hp Another Neptune in Pisces theme:  water — and the lack thereof — this time in the Nile: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/06/02/opinion/02Brown.html?hpw

Rumor and scandal also relate to Neptune, and there seems to be all sorts of stories running amok, from media (Neptune) websites being hacked; twitter feeds belonging to a certain congressman allegedly hacked and used as a conduit for a mysterious photo; and rumors about the origin of a mysterious wildfire in Arizona raging out of control. It may take until Monday to get clarity on much of this mishegosh, and Friday is likely to be edgy, even with a bit of Neptunian fog. Take your time!

A note on the phenomenon of retrograde planets. They do not actually slow down to a halt, move backward and then forward. It just appears that they do from our point of view on spaceship Earth. Here is a groovy animation which explains it all for you: http://www.lasalle.edu/~smithsc/Astronomy/retrograd.html  Any questions?

Many thanks for the recent referrals, btw. I am glad to be of service.
