I have been sitting with the incredible experience of your gift and knowledge and letting it sift down into my understanding and psyche. It was a powerful time for me. I told a friend, "she is the real deal." I don't say that very often!

Astro-logical Forecast for Thursday 10/16/2014: If It’s Out There, It Must Be Neptune

OK, chill time is over; time to walk your talk. Why? Well, the Moon entered love-love-me-do Leo at 6:29AM ET, looking for a stage or a kingdom on/in which to shine. It glides along without interference today, bolstered by an idealistic hook-up between mental Mercury and the Sun, aiding and abetting a bit of sweet talk. Said mental Mercury is well-supported by action hero Mars in gamboling/gambling Sagittarius; thus, the walking of the talking. Caveat: Mercury is retrograde and Sag is a klutz. But that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the trip.

And now, the news.

Nebulous Neptune, which refers to illusion, fantasy, drugs, toxins, glamor, spirit and spirits, etc., has been running wild in the cosmos and also in an obsessive relationship with expansive Jupiter, currently parading through potentially bombastic Leo. This suggests a bit of scandal and deception, on the one hand, and potentially “out there” collective beliefs, on the other.

With Mercury retrograde, things from the past have a way of turning up. So earlier this week it was interesting that the NYT published an in-depth investigation about thousands of chemical (Neptune) weapons that were uncovered in Iraq between 2004 and 2011  by U.S. troops. These weapons were made decades ago, and the rest of the story has plenty of  other Neptunian elements: deception, cover up, denial, toxins, abandonment, etc. It’s a long, compelling piece — one of the reasons why being a NYT subscriber is worth every penny — though a shorter editorial summary is here.

Following up on last week’s supercharged contact among Venus (women, social expression), Uranus (unconventional) and Pluto (transformation/perspective), here’s another NYT exclusive reflecting changing perspectives on gender identity: “When Women Become Men at Wellesley“.  If you’re not familiar with Wellesley, it’s a women’s college outside of Boston and the alma mater of two former secretaries…of State: Madeleine Albright and Hillary Clinton. And I’m proud to say it’s my alma mater, too.

I’m not sure what concoction of planetary patterns this next item reflects. The surreal world of runaway Neptune? Gender equality issues of the Uranus-Pluto square we thought we covered during the Uranus-Pluto conjunction of the mid-60s? The outrageous action of macho Mars in righteous Sagittarius with the gaming spirit of Jupiter in Leo? The brutal bullying potential transiting Pluto to U.S. Saturn?  Probably all of the above, but here’s the story: Anita Sarkeesian, who has written a lot about the deplorable portrayal of women in the videogame and other media (Neptune) industries, was scheduled to speak at a university in Utah. Threats were made against her life, and the speech was canceled....because Utah is an open-carry state and the school did not believe it had the legal authority prevent people with guns from attending the lecture. Brutal? Surreal?

If you’re not familiar with Sarkeesian’s work, here’s her website — with lots of engaging videos (Neptune) — enjoy!

Mercury retrogrades are excellent times to REview your life with an astrologer. Right now I’m offering a little incentive for new clients. Here’s the 411 on personal consultations.

Astro-logical Forecast for Wednesday 8/1/2012: Full Moon in Aquarius

Moon enters Aquarius at 5:56AM ET, waxing to its fullness at 11:27PM ET. Aquarius often gets grief for being such a scientist about emotions. Whether it’s a howl of indignation or a sigh of rapture, these cats can’t help but examine it under a microscope.  Still, a Full Moon is a Full Moon, so feelings are more likely to run high, and by the time they peak later tonight, we may have seen the light about whatever agenda was set by the New Moon. Anyone remember what it was? Something to do with “catharsis”…

With the Moon in Aquarius, the spirit of brotherly love is opposed by the Sun in Leo, which has a more personal, passionate, egocentric game plan. How will these conflicting drives be illuminated and reconciled? There may be plenty of optimistic ideas to share, but will we appreciate that what others think might be worth entertaining? Can we arrive at a collective vision? Why not take the next few days with the Moon in “networking-heaven” Aquarius to reconnect. Make it a valuable two-way exchange of information.

For some of us, this might include networking with spirit guides and/or your Higher Self. After all, nebulous Neptune (spirit, vision) is still running wild. And with Mercury retrograde, some may be on a retreat. OK, that works, too. The Sabian Symbols for 11 Leo-Aquarius are “children on a swing in a huge oak tree” and “man tete-a-tete with his inspiration”. Sabian Symbol guru Blain Bovee opines that these are comforting images of solid support and a heart-to-heart encounter that reinforces “a sturdy inner core”.  A sturdy inner core is just what we need– now more than ever, as breakdowns of infrastructure continue to disrupt the status quo over the next three years.

And speaking of Neptune running wild, it appears that New York airports are replacing human customer service agents with computer-generated holograms. That’s right, these are NOT REAL, totally intangible, complete illusions — ruled by Neptune. In a horoscope, Neptune tends to dissolve what it touches. Often that suggests a bewilderment or insecurity about self-projection. Watch the eyes for heavy blinking. It’s darned distracting — with no solid inner core to be seen. My mentor, Noel Tyl, calls it “the Neptune eye-flutter”. I call it “the Neptune I-flutter” When you see it in a person, you are alerted to the probability that Neptune is a big deal in the horoscope. Heavy blinking can also be a sign that what is being said should not be believed.

Do you think a computer-generated hologram posing as a human customer service representative has a solid inner core? Watch the video in the above link — especially the eyes. Coincidence or conspiracy?

Astro-logical Forecast for Wednesday 5/18/2011: More Sex, Lies & Horoscopes

I glanced briefly at the horoscopes of Maria Shriver and Arnold Schwarzenegger on May 10th, noting current patterns in their horoscopes suggesting bewilderment (possible deception) and upsets for Maria, and bewilderment/deception, upsets and “change or die” influences from ruthless Pluto, in the case of Arnold. Would it surprise you to know that disruptive Uranus in Arnold’s chart is making a tough challenge to the Moon (emotions, driving force of the horoscope), much like the challenge Uranus is making in the chart on the another man who’s making headlines, Dominique Strauss-Kahn? And would it surprise you to note that ruthless Pluto, which rules the areas of the chart related to love affairs and children for both men, is also making strong statements in their horoscopes right now? Similar patterns reflecting similar life events.

An astrologer could have anticipated these times for both men well in advance. “Governor Schwarzenegger, patterns in your horoscope suggest the potential for emotional upsets, affecting your image and likely involving women and creative affairs. Why does your horoscope suggest that things may not be quite as they seem in your home life?” We could have also asked him about an intensely emotional time in 2000, coupled with a sense of “ego wipeout” (astrologer Noel Tyl’s term for a challenging aspect from nebulous Neptune), perhaps affecting his sense of self-worth, that could have lasted from 2000-2001. And we would definitely asked him about the major upheaval (likely as a result of acting as if he could do whatever he liked and get away with it), that would have occurred during the summer of 1997 (it is reported that the child he fathered out-of-wedlock is around 14 years old). Planets at work here again: rebel Uranus and ruthless Pluto.Wouldn’t you like to know if such forces might be at work in your horoscope one day?

Meanwhile, Anne Sinclair, the wife of Strauss-Kahn, is standing by her man http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/05/17/us-strausskahn-wife-idUSTRE74G63Y20110517 She doesn’t believe the allegations against him for a minute. And of course he is presumed innocent until proven otherwise. But before I looked at her horoscope, I expected to see a planetary pattern suggesting “rose-colored glasses”. And yes, it’s there. Nebulous Neptune runs wild in the chart, suggesting that ideals can run away with the persona. Astrology buffs would be interested to note a hook-up between Mercury (mind), unconventional Uranus and Venus (social expression), which also suggests a case of idealism.  Oh, but what glamor, power and talent with the written word. That’s in her horoscope, too.

Only one aspect of note on Wednesday: a constructive, sobering connection between Moon in Sagittarius and Saturn, planet of necessary controls. That should help you give practical form to your big ideas. Ship it today or Friday, because the Moon will be void from 10:17 AM NY – 4:16PM NY. Not that Thursday won’t be productive. Watch the headlines for more revelations from underground, as you dig up your own dirt and put a strategy into action.
