Astro-logical Forecast for Thursday 10/11/2012: It’s Debatable Again…

If you did not receive the usual forecast yesterday, please check your spam folder. That’s where my copy ended up, and I have a feeling I’m not the only one who had that experience. Let’s hope there are no glitches in today’s delivery…

Not much to report until 3:23PM ET, when the Moon enters discriminating, detail-oriented Virgo. Until then, go with the flow, regardless of how deviated your efforts may be to move in a straight line. I say this because the Moon went void-of-course as of 5:40PM ET on Wednesday. See the link in yesterday’s forecast — the one posted on the website — for more on voids, assuming you do not know what they are and how to best handle them.

About an hour after Moon enters Virgo, it opposes nebulous Neptune, which is frankly more of a challenge than the support the Moon receives ten minutes later from structured Saturn. How dreamy/spacey might you be feeling, in spite of the Virgo Moon’s need to make order out of chaos? That energy carries us through the rest of the afternoon, and as we move into suppertime, ornery Mars in opinionated Sagittarius clashes with the nitpicky, perfection-seeking Moon (exact at 9:36PM ET). If someone doesn’t get just a tad combative over details in the opening 30 minutes of the Vice-Presidential debate, I will be disappointed. And yet…disappointed I may be, because even though aggressive Mars is ready to rumble (and making serious connections in the horoscopes of both contenders), nebulous Neptune is just as active as it was in the horoscopes of the Obama-Romney contest last week. This suggests a rose-colored fog permeating the airwaves…but let’s take a closer look.

Joe Biden (Nov 20 1942 — around 8:30AM in Scranton, PA)) is a Scorpio with Moon in Taurus, suggesting a need to preserve material security and keep things as they are or as they should be. He has Sagittarius on the Ascendant — probably 3 or 4 degrees into the sign. Sag is an outspoken, rather randy, often disheveled/undisciplined force of nature that values high ideals and blunt candor. That is why Sag is so often associated with foot-in-mouth disease. Right now Mars is at 3 Sagittarius, exactly on Biden’s Ascendant and opposing his Uranus at 2 Gemini. This is a potential for fireworks, unless the reigning need of Biden’s Taurus Moon and the energy of his Sun in controlling Scorpio can keep things steady and calm.

As with the horoscopes of Obama and Romney, nebulous Neptune exerts a powerful influence on Biden and Ryan, too. So much that I am beginning to suspect some kind of conspiracy, and would feel so much better about it if other, less Neptune-influenced candidates could participate in this political process. Candidates like Dr. Jill Stein, Rocky Anderson — heck, I would be happy to include Roseanne Barr, too — she’s running on the Peace and Freedom ticket — with Cindy “Speaking Power to the Liars” Sheehan, no less. Did I leave anyone out?

But I digress.

Paul Ryan, whose horoscope was covered in detail in an earlier forecast also has an early Sagittarius Ascendent, at zero degrees, in fact. He was born with Neptune exactly conjunct the Ascendant, shrouding him in a rose-colored fog or vision, depending on whether you like what he has to say (with Moon running wild in people-pleasing Libra,  he has more than enough charm to convince you that you should).  Neptune — now at 0 Pisces, is exactly squaring the Ascendant — that point of personal projection — kicking up those clouds of pixie dust even more. But hey — in Biden’s horoscope, Neptune is involved, too — making a sextile to the Ascendant! While arguably this is a much less problematic aspect than Ryan’s conjunction (in terms of living in a real world, not an imaginary one), Biden still must deal with the challenge of Neptune transiting by square. Will he — or his opponent — be able to make a case that is clear and distinct? I am not convinced. It is more likely that people will hear whatever fits the reality they think they would like to live in. Sigh.

Back to Mars, which is the symbol for action, often of an aggressive nature. We talked about Mars and the potential for Biden to be provoked. Same goes for Ryan. Mars is right on Ryan’s Ascendant, too, with the same potential for provocation. There is even a connection between transiting Mars and Ryan’s natal Uranus — similar to Biden. Fascinating. Looking at the chart for the event itself — 10/11/2012 at 9PM in Danville, KY, nebulous Neptune is squaring the Ascendant — and Mars is also at an angle. This mirrors what is going on in the horoscopes of Biden and Ryan! Regardless of this astonishing synchronicity, I am not convinced that the outcome will rock the polls one way or the other, while there will be plenty of arguments about what was actually said. Fact checkers, take your places!

Astro-logical Forecast for Friday 8/24/12 & the Weekend: Curiouser & Curiouser…

Word on the street is that yesterday’s all-day Moon void was accompanied by some strange, weird vibe. Weird indeed,  and we can look no further than today’s challenge: a First Quarter Moon and a T-square among the Virgo Sun opposing nebulous Neptune, with both planets squared by the high-flying, opinionated Moon in Sagittarius. All that sparkling pixie dust can be put to good use in creative and spiritual endeavors; in more practical concerns this is a good time to “measure twice; cut once” to make sure the pattern you’re following is for real. Neptune can also suggest fanatics and delusions.

The T-square described above was exact between 8:33AM and 9:54AM ET, and it was just after 9AM ET that a truly weird headline hit the wires in New York: Several People Shot, One Fatally, Outside Empire State Building. And to think, Mars (aggression) moved into Scorpio (potential for vengeance) only yesterday. It does seem like we have more than the usual share of violent words on the NYT home page today: Iran Speeding Up Nuclear Work; Missile Advance by China; Norway Killer Ruled Sane; US Drone Strike Kill More People; Town Built by Guns is Worried; Syria Clashes Intensify.

Count on Neptune’s weirdly rose-colored fog to carry you through the weekend, as the next connection it makes is to that very potent Mars at 2:55AM ET on Sunday. This is a charismatic connection and a favorite of glamorous Hollywood starlets and seductive snake oil salesmen. Paul Ryan has a Mars-Neptune trine in his horoscope that channels that charm right on his Ascendant. How appealing is that? So appealing, that a woman from “Democratic royalty from Oklahoma” fell in love and married him. (Bill Clinton also has Mars and Neptune on his Ascendant).

On Sunday, after a Moon void between 2:39AM and 9:58AMET, Moon enters “make-it-happen” Capricorn. This practical, earthy energy is good for accomplishing all sorts of weekend tasks. Be advised, however, that ruthless Pluto and disruptive Uranus  engage the Moon at 10:05PM ET and 11:19PM ET, suggesting the potential for a bumpy emotional evening.

A couple of other headline notes: first, remember the eclipse on May 21 that was at 0 Gemini (and right on Mitt Romney’s Ascendant)? Listen up if you were born around the 21st of February, May, August or November, or if you have a planet or angle at 0 degrees of Pisces, Gemini, Virgo or Sagittarius.  When an eclipse directly affects your horoscope, you can anticipate potential fallout from the eclipse when a transiting planet hits the degree of the eclipse. For example, on Wednesday the Sun was at zero degrees of Virgo, which is an exact square to zero degrees of Gemini. Got that? Did anything hit the newswires that might have put some pressure on Mitt Romney? Answer: yes — “a massive cache of confidential financial documents” was published on Gawker. Coincidence or conspiracy? Let’s keep an eye on what happens around October 7, when Mars will be at 0 Sagittarius and Neptune will be at 0 Pisces.

Astro-logical Forecast for Monday 8/13/2012: Venus in the Hot Seat

Monday begins dreamily enough, with the Moon in sensitive Cancer in an easy connection with nebulous Neptune at 8:30AM ET. Did you note your dreams upon waking? Could have been quite a trip.

The need of the first part of this week  is emotional and/or homeland security — all the way until Wednesday at 2:05PM. For some, that need may be a challenge. Do you remember the week of July 16th? Aggressive Mars was actively engaged with the disruptive Uranus-Pluto square. That was a tough week for many, especially those whose horoscopes are directly impacted by this powerful pattern. James E. Holmes, the man who took out his aggression in a movie theater in Colorado, is an example of a “worst-case scenario” of a horoscope triggered by a challenging Mars transit.

This week we have loving Venus — women, money, art, beauty — actively engaged with Uranus and Pluto. Pay attention to events happening now, as we will see this pattern repeated the week before the US election on November 6th, and it may feel oddly familiar. At its best, ruthless Pluto challenging Venus can empower one’s social position and/or artistry. Just ask Paul Ryan, the presumptive Republican nominee for Vice-President, who is experiencing a Pluto-Venus empowerment in his own horoscope. At its worst, this aspect can bring out emotional overkill and witchy-bitchy women as in “If I be waspish, best beware my sting.” Or the witchy-bitchiness may be taken out ON women. I’ll give you an example of emotional overkill in a minute.

Add to this mix eccentric Uranus. When engaged with Venus, Uranus suggests a taste for the unusual and unconventional. Sudden attractions that end as quickly as they begin. It also suggests the needs of the collective taking precedence over the needs of the individual. Got that? Now we add another aspect: aggressive Mars hooking up with disciplined Saturn in Libra (exact at 6:37AM ET on Wednesday). At its best, we think “military precision”, as in the military precision already noted in the exquisitely-executed landing of Curiosity on Mars. At its worst, we think of the military — or militant — precision of a police officers in Times Square who executed (with Venus-Pluto overkill, some argue) a knife-wielding man (bizarre, sudden Venus-Uranus encounter) on Saturday. That was the promised example of emotional overkill.

Those are the highlights of the week: Pluto opposing Venus and Mars conjunct Saturn on Wednesday; Uranus square Venus on Thursday. Now that you are aware of them, you can temper your responses to any provocative situations you encounter this week by consciously choosing not to add fuel to a fire. See if you can be more like the Mars Curiosity landing; less like the incident in Times Square. And yes, we will talk more about Paul Ryan, and why Mitt Romney can’t help but love the guy later this week.

Moon voids, so you can plan ahead:  Wednesday 4:21AM ET – 2:05PM ET; Friday 1:55PM ET – 8:33PM ET.
