Astro-logical Forecast for Tuesday 3/10/2015: More on Mars in the News

More intensity, driven by fearless action, as the Scorpio Moon continues on its quest for substance and control, with the help of a supercharged Mars in me-me-me-first Aries. When Jupiter in regal Leo challenges the Moon at 12:31PM ET, expect added optimism or a bigger reach. Power plays may be effectively communicated a few hours later, as Moon aligns with Pluto.

And now, the news.

With Mars about to meet-up with rebel Uranus and square Pluto in “Establishment” Capricorn, we would expect to see a headline about a group of secessionists in the Lone Star State who believe that the Republic of Texas never joined the United States. Thus, they have formed their own government, also known as the Republic of Texas, complete with their own currency and elected representatives. For the past eight years they had been pretty much ignored, until last Valentine’s Day.  I’d like to believe they’re on the NYT home page now, in sync with planetary patterns.

Mars-Uranus contacts suggest innovative technology. Yesterday Apple CEO Tim Cook was front and center, launching Apple Watch and other new-fangled gadgets. Well, that’s pretty good timing….but dear Mr. Cook, do we really need another computerized toy? How about directing your brilliant engineers to come up with a reasonable replacement for the internal combustion engine? Speaking of which (Mars rules cars), GM made a bold move yesterday when it announced it would buy back $5 billion of its stock, “as part of a negotiated settlement with dissident investors led by a former member of the government’s auto task force,” reported the NYT. Meanwhile, the initial leg of an around-the-world plane fueled by solar power went well. Now we’re talking!

Elsewhere, following up on yesterday’s rhetorical question, “How are we doing now?” (regarding civil rights issues that were prominent in the mid-60s and back for further consideration in this decade), the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity at the University of Oklahoma has been shuttered and members were suspended after a video showing these tuxedo-clad frat brothers chanting racial slurs was posted online.

Meanwhile, a state judge has been appointed to rule in municipal cases in Ferguson, MO, after last week’s “damning report” documented countless cases of abuse and bias…and also revealed how much the city government relied on its police department as a revenue-generating machine. One wonders what might happen in the next town(s) over, as apparently circumstances are much the same. Do those towns needs a state judge, too?

Mars suggests action…and also action heroes.  So why not stumble across a story about the first Sikh comic book action hero on this home page? Mars suggests “macho” in less heroic displays, too. A video of a Lebanese anchorwoman smacking down a London-based Islamic scholar who would not show her some respect has gone viral.

Triggers to Pluto suggest “news from underground”. In London, archaeologists are excavating the burial ground known as Bedlam to make way for a new train station. They’re digging up the bones of 3000 or so people who lived during the 16th and 17th century…and a few of those are probably astrologers.

Finally, yesterday we were talking about the Uranus-Pluto conjunction of 1965-1966 as the seed-planting point of the cycle we are in now. That conjunction was in Virgo, which refers to labor, work routines, health and diet, as well as food production systems. So that may help you understand why we are seeing so many headlines about labor unions being undermined and/or strengthened, depending on where you live.  It may help you put headlines like this one — about soil conservation in farming — in perspective, too.  The technique is being hailed as “a massive paradigm shift,” and does not require nitrogen fertilizers or fungicide. A massive paradigm shift sound very Uranus square Pluto to me. Good news!

Astrological Forecast for Thursday 4/4/2013: Passion in the Works?

Hooray, hooray, hooray! The Moon gets into gear in the freedom-loving, humanitarian sign of Aquarius at 4:41AM ET, aiding all efforts to be socially significant, unique or just plain weird. Planetary patterns are quiet during business hours, suggesting no jolts or power plays to throw you off track. At 8:02PM ET there’s a communicative hook-up between Moon and rebel Uranus, which fosters innovative exchanges and maybe a tech story or two. At 9:48PM ET we’ve got a potential wet blanket or reach for ambition suggested by stern Saturn in Scorpio squaring the independent Moon. That’s it. Still pretty quiet, compared to the rambunctious activity of the past few weeks.

In fact, the only exact aspect between any two planets (not including the Moon) between now and April 16th happens just after midnight ET on Sunday, April 7th. And gosh, I hope you have a date between now and Sunday…or can spend some time in a place where passion might ignite. The aspect in question is a hook-up between receptive Venus and proactive Mars in the sign of impulsive, fearless, inspiring and passionate Aries. Those born around the 10th of April, July, October and January will likely feel this burst of energy more than most, as will those with a planet or angle at 20 degrees of Aries, Cancer, Libra or Capricorn. Could be sizzling; could be more sparks that you can handle (so don’t fly off one) — let me know how it goes.

And now, the news. I can’t believe I missed this absolute gem when it hit the wires on March 29th, three days after ruthless Pluto squared Mars and two days before it squared the Sun. Pluto  suggests “news from underground,” as in “Gate to Hell Found in Turkey”. Here’s another, posted just minutes ago: an anonymous leak exposes the identities of thousands who are hiding wealth offshore. Here’s a more thorough piece on the latter story. Maybe the Gate to Hell is really in the British Virgin Islands.

Capturing the breaking-down-barriers energy of so many planets in pioneering Aries, combined with the revolutionary Uranus-Pluto square is this stunner, from Macon, Georgia: “High School Students Organize First Integrated Prom”. Yeah, I’m speechless, too. Macon seems light-years away from New York…

Astro-logical Forecast for Tuesday 6/28/2011

While you were sleeping, Moon moved into Gemini, sign of the chatterbox pixie, where it immediately makes a challenge to nebulous Neptune. Note your dreams and be mindful of the potential fuzzy buzz you or others may be experiencing in the early waking hours. The rest of the day can be a productive whirlwind of ideas and communication, with a particularly sharp stance taken around 2:22PM ET.

Re-read yesterday’s forecast on the potential manifestations of ruthless Pluto opposing Sun and watch the headlines for more news from underground (e.g., oil, mines, radiation), and other Pluto-ruled arenas: corruption, sex, death and resources, to name a few. Here’s one, for starters:  Blagojevich guilty in corruption trial http://www.nytimes.com/2011/06/28/us/28blagojevich.html?hp
Meanwhile, if you’re thinking of taking Friday off, Moon will be void-of-course all day. Sounds like a plan if you can swing it.

Astro-logical Forecast for Wednesday 4/27/2011:When Pluto Attacks

Moon entered dreamy Pisces just before 1AM EDT and hooked up with Neptune, ruler of oceans and rose-colored glasses shortly thereafter. Anyone have any especially fantastic dreams? In other news, read yesterday’s forecast for notes on today’s exact connections between Pluto, Sun and Venus, with these additions: first,  Venus-Pluto often coincides with emotional overkill, and sometimes with witchy-bitchy women….or a backlash against women. Perhaps we’ll see a blurb about efforts to defund womens’ health programs, which, as everyone knows, are solely responsible for the 14 trillion dollar debt carried by the taxpayers of the United States. (See? That was an example of emotional overkill).

Second, we’re likely to see news from underground, more secrets in government institutions revealed and stories about energy resources hitting the headlines. And, as if on cue, check out this story that just appeared, “Disturbing Revelations in Probe of Possible Gas Price Manipulation”  http://content.usatoday.com/communities/ondeadline/post/2011/04/disturbing-revelations-in-probe-of-possible-gas-price-manipulation/1 Also noting headlines reporting radiation levels elevated at an Ohio nuclear plant, a volcano spewing ash in Ecuador and a couple of minor (under 6.0) earthquakes.

Depth and smooth, coordinated focus can carry you along until 3:52PM EDT, when Moon goes void — again — for almost 48 hours. If you look at your calendar for March 31 and April 1st, we had a similar pattern in effect: Moon floating along in the sign of Pisces, dreamily embracing whatever is intangible. Plan a short escape between this afternoon and 1:33PM EDT Friday — even if if just for a few hours.
