Astro-logical Forecast for Monday-Tuesday 1/12-13/2015: Sneak Peek at the Week; Mars in Focus (and Now in Pisces)

A surge of energy — rattling, perhaps — as the balance-seeking Libra Moon, which seeks makes contact with disruptive Uranus and Pluto between 8:40 and 10:20AM ET. While typing the forecast this morning, I have been on hold with the office of the NYC Public Advocate, calling on behalf of a friend whose housing status has been compromised in a stunning snafu. After an hour of waiting, the line went dead and so I had to call again.

Imagine you are on disability and have been homeless for a year, living in a city shelter. A non-profit agency that receives funding from the city tells you that they have found you an apartment. They move you and your belongings into the apartment on a Friday afternoon. Hours later, you meet the super of the building, who wants to know why you are there. He calls the landlord, and the landlord’s wife tells you that the former tenant was evicted because the agency did not pay rent on the apartment. She says you can not stay in the apartment. So where are you supposed to go, late on this Friday afternoon?

I hear stories like this and compare them to this item from Sunday’s NYT, entitled “New York’s Emptiest Co-ops and Condos”. I marvel at the world of extremes in which we live. Yea verily, this imbalance is not sustainable.

With the potential upsets of the morning now behind us, may we do our best to facilitate harmony, fairness and balance in relationships (and be appreciated for our social graces), in the spirit of the Libra Moon’s reigning need. Meanwhile, Rhode Island and Connecticut were rattled by an earthquake. Coincidence or conspiracy?

There are no other exact aspects for the rest of the day, and the Moon will be void tomorrow from 4:45AM until 6:44PM ET, so get it off your desk today, if you wish it to be of consequence.

At 5:21AM ET today,  action hero Mars left rebel Aquarius to wallow, with no small amount of steam, in watery Pisces. We can expect to note a plethora of actions driven by a need to identify or work with ideals in the next coming weeks. We can also note potential for passive-aggressive behavior, as Pisces is not the most direct sign when it comes to expressing itself. It feels; it empathizes; it suffers — but it is no fan of conflict. Mars will be in Pisces until March 20th.

Mars is also the driving force between two planetary patterns which are exact on Thursday and next Monday. The first is a challenge to hard-nosed Saturn, which for those having a planet or angle around 2 degrees of Pisces, Virgo, Gemini and Sagittarius, may be experienced as a brick wall, kick in the butt or other frustrated charge.

The latter is a pixiedust-laced, magical, mystical hook up between Mars and nebulous Neptune. This hook-up can be experienced as charismatic, sexy, scandalous, fanatical, showstopping or as an outright con. Bill Clinton has a Mars-Neptune hook-up in his horoscope — right on his Libra (charmer) Ascendant. Off the top of my head, Sarah Palin, Glenn Beck and Newt Gingrich also have charged connections between Mars and Neptune.

Already in the headlines I’ve noticed a couple of lurid scandals brewing — one involving countless prominent figures and convicted billionaire sex offender, Jeffrey Epstein. This one is re-brewing, actually…but look for more on this and other similarly lurid stories as we get closer to next Tuesday.

Also keep as eye out for significant stories involving the tech world and unconventional attractions in relationships, aesthetics and finances. Why? Because mental Mercury and loving Venus are in  harmonious connections to rebel Uranus, facilitating innovation in mindset, communication and socal expression. Those aspects are exact Tuesday and Wednesday and may be applied to all of your problem-solving for the next few days. Think outside the box.

In that tech-friendly vein — and noting that Uranus also refers to astrology and astronomy — check out this cool find from a Greek shipwreck that modern day scientists now realize was

designed to predict eclipses and calculate the positions of the sun, moon and planets as they swept across the sky.

And it’s only taken them 114 years to figure that out. Those ancient Greeks were masterful astrologers.

Also in a wonky, Venus in “I love you, but don’t take it personally” Aquaris vein: the “Modern Love” column in the Sunday NYT has attracted considerable attention for taking a rocket scientist approach to why and how we fall in love. Could you really fall in love with anyone? Arguably yes, if you ask the right questions. What a humanitarian Aquarian concept.

More harbingers of things to come with Saturn (structure, control, disclipline) now in Sagittarius (higher education, mass media, collective belief systems) include President Obama announcing a proposal to provide two years of community college eduction for “free,” i.e.,  to be financed with public funds, presumably the way we collectively finance our military, police and most highways. What do you think of that potential restructuring of our higher education system?
Your Moon voids for the week:  Tuesday — practically all day, as noted earlier. Thursday from 6:52pm ET until 3:01AM ET on Friday; Saturday 2:25PM ET until 7:04AM ET Sunday. Chill out and take care of routine tasks during Moon voids, which suggest twists and delays in efforts to move forward in a straight line.
Thank you for reading this forecast.

Astro-logical Forecast for Wednesday 6/22/2011: Nebulous Neptune in the News

Keep your grounding cord down as the Moon in soulful Pisces continues its free fall, not to enter the next sign, Aries, until after midnight. For details on the energy of a void-of-course Moon, check out the ESSAYS section on my website, www.graceastrology.com. If you must move in a straight line today, then move you must; just be advised that the chances of getting off track are increased, so roll with whatever twists may come your way. If you do have freedom to float, follow your bliss. Creative and healing activities are highly favored.

Two powerful aspects from nebulous Neptune in its home sign of Pisces are exact today. Neptune squares aggressive Mars and trines the life-giving Sun. Neptune tends to dissolves whatever it touches, especially structures and other material things. Clouds, fog, glamor, charisma and other intangibles such as music, photography, healing and spirit are related to Neptune. When Neptune is strong in a horoscope, things may not be as they seem. Fact checking and reading the fine print more than once becomes essential.
How might Neptune square Mars manifest in an individual horoscope? For one possibility, look no further than today’s front-page profile of would-be president Michele Bachman http://www.nytimes.com/2011/06/22/us/politics/22bachmann.html?hp  Sarah Palin has this aspect. So does Glenn Beck. Newt Gingrich and Bill Clinton also have intense connections between Mars and Neptune (not squares, however).

In the headlines yesterday I noted a few Neptune-influenced stories in the headlines. In the business world, it was noted that the debt-ridden city of Harrisburg, the capital of PA is appealing to God to help solve its financial woes with a three-day prayer and fast in which the mayor will participate http://blogs.reuters.com/faithworld/2011/06/18/harrisburg-pennsylvania-turns-to-god-for-fiscal-relief/  In the media, a UK newspaper apologizes for publishing a sex scandal that turned out to be fake http://www.pressgazette.co.uk/story.asp?sectioncode=1&storycode=47324&c=1 …and so was this press release announcing that a US company had been accused of fraud http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/06/21/china-accounting-hoax-idUSN1E75K0ON20110621  Meanwhile, JP Morgan Chase will pay millions to settle with the SEC over charges it misled investors http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052702303936704576399971570631618.html?mod=googlenews_wsj And finally, we have this front page story about an innovative new camera http://www.nytimes.com/2011/06/22/technology/22camera.html?hp

Astro-logical Forecast for Thursday 5/12/2011: Raj Rajaratnam

For some, the headline yesterday that brought much good cheer (keeping in line with good cheer anticipated all this week), was the news that Raj Rajaratnam, hedge fund manager extraordinaire, had been found guilty of conspiracy and securities fraud http://www.nytimes.com/2011/05/12/opinion/12thu1.html?hp

Rajaratnam was reportedly born in Colombo, Sri Lanka on June 15, 1957 (time unknown); Sun in chatty Gemini (like Donald Trump and Newt Gingrich) and Moon in either make-it-happen Capricorn or socially significant Aquarius (I suspect it’s enterprising Capricorn, but I’m not willing to spend the hours it would take to test for an exact birth time). What else might we expect to find in his horoscope? This is your chance, for those of you who read this forecast everyday, to amaze yourselves with what you’ve learned about astrology and how you can apply it to good use yourself (my secret stealth mission).

Here are some facts about today’s astro-logical poster child, followed by planetary patterns we might expect to see in the horoscope.

  • He studied engineering in college. We’re going to expect to see Uranus (innovation, technology) prominently configured.
  • He is famous for excess, to the point of wretchedness. He reportedly paid Kenny Rogers millions of dollars to perform at a birthday party. One of his favorite songs is “The Gambler”. Think! What planet is associated with EXPANSION? We’ll expect to it placed strongly.
  • Since he was convicted of fraud, we’ll expect to see a powerful placement of the planet associated with things not being as they seem (NEBULOUS). What planet is that?

Let’s go to the chart. We see Uranus (technology, genius, innovation) in royal Leo (grand, sense of entitlement) in an exact connection to Mercury (mind) in clever Gemini. DING! This man is very, very smart. We see expansive……JUPITER in a tight challenge to the Sun. A challenging influence from Jupiter can be over-indulgent. DING DING! Finally, we see nebulous….NEPTUNE in a challenging aspect to Mars. Newt Gingrich, Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin and Bill Clinton all have challenging aspects between these two planets. Would you say that all of these people might be described as charismatic…to the point of being slick? Do they exist in their own unique version of reality? Have they ever been thought of as deceptive? DING DING DING!

Now let’s say this horoscope belongs to someone running for office or applying for a job in your company. Would you vote for them? Would you hire them? If you said “yes,” what other information would you need about them in order to feel confident that you’d made a good decision? What do you think would be this person’s strengths or weaknesses?  Remember: there is nothing inherently good or bad with planetary patterns. People decide how to use — or misuse/abuse their abilities. People decide whether to build all the way up to heaven or all the way down to hell.

Use today’s analytical Moon in Virgo energy to digest this complimentary astro-logical lesson…or anything else on your plate that requires mulling over and organization. Oh– and here’s another example of idealism/”miracles just might happen” thinking hitting the headlines. Yesterday a bill was introduced in the Senate — again — (by Bernie Sanders of Vermont and Jim McDermott of Washington State )to establish a single-payer health insurance/care system in the United States. It is astonishing to me how many otherwise super-smart Americans do not know what “single-payer” means. I am convinced that it is perhaps the most significant reason why the concept hasn’t won greater support. Houston, we have a problem. A MARKETING problem.

Read about single-payer health care here http://www.pnhp.org/facts/what-is-single-payer, or enjoy my pithy explanation. Single payer means taxpayer-funded, as in Medicare For All. OK, what does that mean? It means given a choice between spending your tax dollars to build military bases all over the Middle East or paying your hospital bills in the event you are hit by a bus, how would you choose to spend it? Excellent. I see you are in favor of a single-payer system, as you would prefer to spend your tax dollars on your health care. In the best of all possible worlds, we would use the money we currently spend on, for example, military bases in the Middle East and spend it on keeping you healthy and free from the worry that if you get sick, you will go bankrupt. Y’know, like they do in every other allegedly civilized Western nation. Single-payer/taxpayer funded health care is nothing new. If you know anyone whose parents served in the military, that person has enjoyed the benefits of taxpayer-funded health care. Why should they have all the fun?

Of course, if we don’t spend our money building military bases in the Middle East, we won’t be able to stand guard over all that oil…which means maybe we’ll have to stop relying on oil and come up with an alternative source of energy that doesn’t require a military base to guard it. Oh my, I am really dreaming here. Must be the stars… ; )

Astro-logical Forecast for Thursday 2/10/2011

I confess I would have been disappointed if Wednesday’s exact hook-up between loving Venus and ruthless Pluto at 8:51PM EST had not coincided with at least one scandal revealed as a result of an encounter with a witchy-bitchy woman. And here it is:  “New York Congressman Resigns Over Emails” http://www.nytimes.com/2011/02/10/us/politics/10lee.html?hp   What do we see active in Chris Lee’s horoscope — April 1, 1964 in Kenmore NY (time unknown)? Yes, there it is: nebulous Neptune currently in a challenging aspect to Lee’s natal Venus — suggesting a potential need for fantasy and/or escape in romance — and perhaps a possible deception or idealism. Note to elected officials: when this transit is active in your horoscope, better to pursue an artistic hobby, like cooking or watercolor painting.  Much less damaging to your career, not to mention your marriage.

Nebulous Neptune is influential in the horoscope of Glenn Beck, too, and today is his birthday. In Beck’s chart, we see a challenging aspect to the Sun, suggesting a difficulty seeing himself clearly, and that others may not see him clearly, either. President Obama also has this aspect in his natal chart. But Beck’s Neptune influence runs even deeper: it squares Mars, which suggests charisma, perfectly suited for an intangible medium like television. It can also manifest as a certain escapism or fanaticism. Beck’s Mars is also aligned with Saturn and Sun, suggesting a toughness, a discipline, an applied focus of energy possibly bordering on the militaristic. A rare connection between Mercury (mind) and Venus (social expression) suggests idealism, and his Moon in Capricorn works overtime to make things happen. And here’s a fun fact: Beck is just one day older than Sarah Palin. Coincidence or conspiracy?

Moon is still in steady, stable Taurus, with few aspects to color the day, save for a challenge to Moon from Mars (possible clashes of will or charged feelings) – but even that doesn’t occur until 11:13PM EST. The First Quarter Moon is exact Friday at 2:18AM EST — thought Thursday may be relatively quiet, a challenge to your New Moon agenda may appear between now and then. “Stubborn” may be its middle name.
