"The reading was a partnership between the two of us; she did not simply recite planetary signs and meanings, but had a conversation with me, continually asking what I made of what she saw, and what I thought I could do to change the things I want to change.

When the names of other people in my life came up, she quickly looked up their charts on her computer and commented on their roles in my life -- painting a fuller picture of where I was, where I wanted to go, and how I could get there.

What was impressive was that Elisabeth took all the planets, people, and situations that made up my life and created a context for them all that was positive, hopeful, and exciting!

She has a lovely personality, a sharp wit, and a gift for astrological interpretation."

Friday 4/6/2018 & the Weekend: Mercury Retrograde Truth & Consequences

TGIF!

After wandering aimlessly (perhaps) through boundary-pushing Sagittarius, as of 2:01 PM ET the day is driven by a proactive Moon in Capricorn. Take care of enterprising projects around the house or find ways to enhance your social status this weekend. A harmony between Venus and Saturn on SATURDAY at 9:36 AM ET facilitates structuring your values and aesthetics into something tangible, albeit streamlined. Mind the potential for outbursts around 1:41 PM ET, as the proactive Moon meets up with a proactive Mars. Outbursts are not necessarily a downer or a danger. They come in handy in the final stages of a long run. Saturday night has a dreamy potential, courtesy of a harmony between Moon and Neptune around 8:46 PM ET.

SUNDAY starts with the last challenge to last month’s New Moon agenda, a.k.a. the Third Quarter Moon. A focused power play and/or catharsis is suggested by the Moon’s weekly clash with Pluto at 9:02 AM ET, followed by a surprise or other upset to the status quo around 10:40 PM ET, when the Moon clashes with rebel Uranus. Moon will be void from then until 2:40 AM ET on MONDAY…no sleeping in.

And now, the news.

But first…how’s your Mercury retrograde going? I missed the train yesterday and then misread the timetable for the next train. Ended up on a different train somewhere in Long Island — only to realize that it was taking me to the town I lived in when I was four years old. People, places and things from the past have a surprising way of REturning during Mercury retrogrades. The return trip into the city featured Google directions that took my Lyft driver absolutely nowhere near the train station and countless other delays. On the plus side, Pepper the Cat was REunited with a catnip-stuffed grasshopper that had been missing for months. You?

Other REturns, seasoned with Wednesday’s assertive square between Mercury and Mars, followed by Thursday’s heavy mental square between Mercury and Saturn:

  • A truck seized under civil forfeiture laws two years ago was suddenly returned. The truck’s owner is suing the government for restitution and a class-action judgement;
  • A painting by a Dutch master worth millions is discovered in a storeroom;
  • The body of a CDC researcher who went missing seven weeks ago in Georgia was found in the Chattahoochee River;
  • Who remembers the Menendez brothers? They killed their parents almost 30 years ago in Beverly Hills. It took seven years and two trials to convict them of first-degree murder and sentence them to life in prison. After living in separate prisons since then, the two have been REunited;
  • Reports commissioned in the 80s by Royal Dutch Shell reveal the company knew that climate change was real and that fossil fuel consumption was a leading cause — and oh, by the time the connection was discovered, it might be too late;
  • Cyclist Juli Briskman, whose photo of her giving P45 the bird last fall resulted in her losing her job after the photo went viral is now suing. How does this compare to the nurse I told you about in Monday’s post? She lost her job after her racist FB screeds went viral. Were her First Amendment rights violated? Why or why not?
  • In Italy, a former postman was found with 400kg of undelivered mail — three years’ worth. He said he didn’t deliver it because the pay was too low.

Conservative author Kevin Williamson said this week that women who have abortions should suffer death by hanging. Well that’s an apt potential of Mercury-Mars shooting off at the mouth. The next day, he was fired by his employer, The Atlantic. Happy Saturn square Mercury. Was that too harsh?

After a liberal judge won an election in Wisconsin this week (the first win for a non-incumbent “liberal” in 23 years), Governor Scott Walker had a “meltdown” about a possible “blue wave” in November. With transiting Jupiter on the Sun and Moon of this double-Scorpio last fall, we can appreciate why he tossed his hat into the ring for a third term. That expansive influence will be behind him in November. Instead he’ll be wrestling with the  third squeeze suggested by transiting Saturn in a tough aspect with his equally tough Mars-Saturn square. He’s wrestling with the first squeeze now, with the due in late May/June. Wish we had a birth time.

Embattled EPA chief Scott Pruitt continues to feel the squeeze of Saturn on his natal Libra Moon, as more and more details of his swamp monster corruption are exposed.  That’s not going away this year — nor is the tremendous effort in the face of loss suggested by another key pattern.  With its comfort and status quo-seeking Taurus driven by a people-pleasing Moon in Libra, Pruitt’s persona is fronted by a regal luxury-loving Leo Ascendant. Oh — and this regal projection is all the more inflated by a natal Jupiter at 26 Leo — yes, in his First House — right there for all the world to see. The man needs to live large…so now you can understand his first class flying habits and other ostentatious perks, even as he slashes and burns.  And of course he’d be a bigly fan of P45, with that Jupiter on P45’s equally regal Leo Ascendant and Mars…and of course P45 would still be singing his praises this week as the perfect candidate to replace Jeff Sessions as Attorney General.  If only Pruitt’s Jupiter hadn’t been totally eclipsed last August and again in February, forcing all of that glitz into the light. By the next New Moon on April 15th, transiting Uranus will have hit his Midheaven — professional and public status, suggesting an opportunity for change, for better or for worse.  Here is his horoscope.

In other news, harsh judgement from the NFL: a cheerleader is fired after posting a picture of herself on Instagram in lingerie. Op-ed write Kareem Abdul-Jabbar rails against the NFL’s efforts to “protect America from witches.” How do you know if you’re in the company of a witch? Sir Bedevere explains, in this classic scene from Monty Python & the Holy Grail.

Finally, a sneak peek at the kinds of stories we’ll be seeing a lot more of once innovative Uranus enters Taurus on May 15th. Taurus refers to material comfort and security, banking and agriculture, just to name a few. Uranus refers to technology, disruptions and genetic mutations. “Scientists Harvest First Vegetables in Antarctic Greenhouse.

Thursday 10/19/2017: New Moon in Libra; Mars-Saturn Fallout

Light a candle and make a list. The New Moon in  Libra officially begins at 3:12 PM ET, offering us an opportunity to re-set  intentions and goals for the next lunar cycle.  Around the 27th, on the First Quarter Moon, we can expect a challenge to those goals, with appropriate adjustments made. At the time of the Full Moon on November 4th, we can expect illumination on the success or failure of our goals for the cycle. If we succeeded, we can release our success into our reality; if we failed, we let go of whatever did not work. After the Third Quarter Moon on the 10th, we can review our achievements, tie up loose ends and get ready to begin anew on November 18th.

A Libra Moon suggests a focus on fairness, balance, justice and relationship, with a strong need for appreciation on both sides. At 1:34 PM ET — right before the New Moon — the Libra Sun will be opposed by rebel Uranus. At 3:04 PM ET, Uranus opposes the Libra Moon. So here we are, needing to plant seeds for a new cycle focused on balance, harmony and relationships in the possible aftermath of a shock, a break or some other me-me-me disruption. Said disruption was perhaps inspired by yesterday’s meet-up of Mercury and Jupiter in Scorpio, suggesting a big idea that digs deep, reveals intimate secrets and establishes power and control.  Here in the United States, I suppose we can see this reflected in the aftermath of the Harvey Weinstein scandal. He’s the lightning rod for a slew of  disgusting revelations of how women have been treated by abusive men of power in what is theoretically an equal opportunity workplace.  Or perhaps this story also fits: Shake-Up at Democratic National Committee, Longtime Officials Ousted.

My money says that you are feeling the shake-up and need to rebuild more personally if you were born around the 19th of October, July, April or January…or if you have a significant point in your horoscope around 26 degrees of Aries, Libra, Cancer or Capricorn. The horrorscope of the P45 Inauguration falls into this category, with its 26 Capricorn Midheaven (public status). Shake-ups during this cycle would not surprise me.

The Sabian Symbol for this New Moon is “an airplane hovering overhead.”  Sabian Symbol guru Blain Bovee suggests this airplane may be an image of an astonishingly powerful creation, hanging in the balance (hovering), unresolved. Another interpretation is having one’s focus on the hustle and bustle of mundane affairs being disrupted by the need to focus on something clear and wondrous up above, as in: “Look! Up in the sky! It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s….Superman!” Whatever it is — bird, plane, rainbow, blimp, rocketship — it pulls focus. We’ll see how that plays out in the news.

The Libra Moon goes void at 3:12 PM ET, entering Scorpio at 9:41 PM ET. Chill tonight. The next planetary shift is Mars leaving Virgo for Libra at 2:30PM ET on Sunday. Perfection in (militant) action is likely to be prominent over the next couple of days, with Mars at the end of Virgo.

And now, the news.

First, a brief note on the devastating California wildfires. In the horoscope of California, we see Uranus and Pluto together at 29 Aries — a Fire sign.  The fires began when transiting Jupiter was at 29 Libra — an Air sign — exactly opposing — and expanding — the volatile Uranus-Pluto conjunction. Coincidence or conspiracy?

As anticipated most of the news last week was heavy. Happy Mars (action, anger, military, sports) square Saturn (control, brick wall), which was exact on Oct 11th. You will recall that this pattern affected the horoscopes of P45, HRC, Barack Obama and the U.S., as well as many other Washington newsmakers.

When I looked at Obama’s horoscope about a year ago, I noted his Mars at 22 Virgo being hit by brick wall Saturn all through 2017. At the time I couldn’t imagine what could happen in his life that might suggest such frustration of accomplishment, but it’s all clear now, with the current Twitler-in-Chief obsessed with destroying everything President Obama did. One example among many last week was Environmental Destruction Agency Scott “Soundproofed” Pruitt declaring that “the war on coal is dead,” as he announced a rollback on Obama’s clean power rules. That same day a piece about China leading the way in solar power and other renewable energy hit the wires. Which country is going to come out ahead in the long run?

For HRC, Saturn’s heavy hit to her Pisces Moon might be the news that while her campaign was spending zillions on traditional TV and radio ads, her opponent — and for some mysterious reason, a truckload of troll farms in Russia — was putting ad dollars into Facebook and other social media. This Russian-generated propaganda was then distributed by members of the P45 campaign. Wow. Meanwhile…

On October 11th, P45 was informed that his planned visit to the U.K. next year has been downgraded. The Queen will not be receiving him.  His ratings are down — even on the list of the world’s weathiest people. Larry Flynt, publisher of Hustler magazine, is offering up to $10 million in cash for information leading to P45’s impeachment.

P45 responded to one of many Saturn squeezes received last week by making a strategic advance (the upside potential of a Saturn squeeze). He issued executive orders 1) authorizing the sale of junk health insurance policies; and 2) demanding the federal government cease paying the subsidies to insurance companies that make it possible for low-income citizens to afford health care. These orders, if implemented, are guaranteed to wreak havoc on those who will lose health care — and health care providers who will lose patients (because their patients won’t be able to afford the care).

Today I can’t bring myself to write much more about the pathological liar/bully P45. Pick up any newspaper and weep. As for why he continues to be in office, here’s a piece by a screenwriter who worked with Harvey Weinstein explaining why that reign of sexual assault was allowed to continue despite that “Everyone-effing-knew.” That article is not about astrology — it’s about human nature. Will get back to the astrology – and what lies ahead – anon.

Look! Up in the sky! It’s the moon! With a  ginormous cave big enough to hold a colony of humans in it!! Seriously!!!  Calgon, take me away!  In other cosmic shocks, reflecting the potential of today’s opposition between the Sun (ruler of gold) and Uranus (shocks, technology)…a collision between two neutron stars — Never Seen Before — reveals the source of gold, platinum and other heavy metals. Kewl!

And now, let’s talk about you. What’s going on in your horoscope? Are you feeling a Saturn squeeze? A Jupiter boost? Only your astrologer knows for sure. Here’s the 411 on consultations and reports. We will have an excellent discussion together.

Thank you for reading this forecast.

Tuesday 7/11/2017: Sneak Peek at the Rest of the Week; Full Moon in Capricorn Gets Your Goat

Greetings from Los Angeles!

…where I’m filling my calendar up with delightful Avid Readers — so much fun to meet in person! I have a few appointments available until July 18th. Then I’m off to Raleigh, NC.

The work week began with the Moon in super-friendly Aquarius, looking to network, network, network  — and be appreciated for its unique social significance. It travels without much static all day TUESDAY and WEDNESDAY. Such a relief, comparing the jolts we experienced on Sunday, when the Moon clashed with Pluto, Uranus and Mars. More on that in a minute.

Moon will be void on WEDNESDAY at 8:40 AM ET; it glides into intuitive Pisces at 11:51 AM ET. Thus, on the East Coast, you can get away with sleeping in or flaking out. Not so in LaLaLand.  On THURSDAY the Pisces Moon meets up with Neptune at 2:28 PM ET, suggesting a dreamy start to the day. Upside: the potential for inspiration and vision, especially as we roll into FRIDAY afternoon, when expansive thoughts in the courts and in the media are likely to pull focus. This is courtesy of a cooperative connection between Mercury and Jupiter, which expands whatever it touches. Downside: communication may be muddled or overly idealistic on Thursday.  When in doubt, push for clarity.

The Pisces Moon goes void on FRIDAY at 1PM ET, and wanders without much direction until 7:52 PM ET. Yes, start the weekend early, though there is bound to be some late-breaking piece of news during the void that causes a perceived “crisis”. The general rule about Moon voids — when the Moon is drifting along with as much energy as an exhausted pinball — is that crises which crop up during voids are much ado about nothing — without consequence. Thus, ye are advised to chill!

Once the Moon enters Aries at 7:52 PM ET on FRIDAY, the pace picks up noticeably with its me-me-me-first drive. Saturday is fine for impulsive shopping. Sunday is likely to be as rollicking as last Sunday, thanks to the Moon’s weekly clash with Mars, Uranus and Pluto.

No sleeping in on MONDAY.

And now, the news…

…which I didn’t pay much attention to over the weekend, as my focus was on a joyful wedding and a college mini-reunion. Still, the intensity of the Full Moon in Capricorn, supercharged by the aforementioned Mars, Uranus and Pluto, was felt even without looking at the headlines. Here is a scene from the reception…

…which was perfect and lovely, nonetheless, even if the ceremony was disrupted once by an Emergency Evacuation Alert going off on a cell phone. Turns out fires were all over the place — in six states and in Canada. As for the college gathering, I was a bit apprehensive about scheduling it on a day that would begin with a tense aspect between the Moon and Mars. Sure enough, there were cancellations. Some were worried about the wildfires (pictured above); another actually sprained her ankle. But those who persevered enjoyed a wine-tasting and picnic lunch at Demetria Estate in Los Olivos, just down the road from Fess Parker — made famous in the movie Sideways (a must-see).  The day ended with a surprise visit to the just-opened Leashless Brewing in Ventura. It was a surprise to the owners,  who did not know for sure if I would be able to drop by — true to the spirit of the afternoon’s  proactive Capricorn Moon’s square from Uranus. Surprise! And what says “leashless” — i.e., FREE — like the Moon in touch with Uranus?

Meanwhile, in the actual headlines….

A full Moon in Capricorn is an apt pattern for an article about how goats are going to steal our jobs. Capricorn is the sign of the Goat, doncha know. In other news, the Sun-Pluto conjunction in January was accompanied by a ton of stories about the Russian involvement in the November elections, as you will recall from the last post. The Full Moon suggested further illumination on this topic. What did we get? P45 Jr., appearng to admit  for all intents and purposes that he took a meeting with a Russian lawyer last year, hoping she would provide him with dirt on his father’s opponent.

We do not have an exact birth time for Mr. P45 Jr., but let the record show that he is a Capricorn with Moon in Virgo, seeking to be appreciated for the exacting perfection he brings to his enterprising efforts. Is that why he keeps updating his recollection of that meeting?  Like his father, P45 Jr has a Mercury-Neptune connection, suggesting a need for idealism, vision or rose-colored fog in matters of communcation and mindset. His Mercury (how he needs to think) is in high-flying, righteously opinionated Sagittarius, almost at a dead stop (Mercury had just turned direct).  It is possible that his natal Neptune is in a tense connection with the Moon, reinforcing a need for those rose-colored glasses.

Also like his father: Mars (how he needs to act) is in regal Leo, a placement which some astrologers say can get away with murder in its show-stopping, entitled action. It’s interesting to note that transiting Mercury met up with P45 Jr’s Mars over the weekend, suggesting dramatic communication and assertion. It’s also interesting to see transiting Saturn about to meet up with his 21  degree Sagittarius Mercury — that’ll happen next month; the first hit was in January.  Add him to the truckload of players who have planets around 22 degrees of Sag, Gemini, Virgo and Pisces — all tied in to the U.S. Mars-Neptune square.  When Saturn hits your Mercury by transit, it suggests a need for a reality check in matters of thought and communication that may be weighty, cutting or depressing. If P45 Jr was born in the late afternoon/evening on Jan 1, 1977, transiting Saturn will add its gravitas to P45 Jr.’s Virgo Moon. Life gets serious.

Here’s the latest — posted minutes ago at The Guardian:

The emails show music promoter Rob Goldstone telling the future US president’s son that “the crown prosecutor of Russia” had offered “to provide the Trump campaign with some official documents and information that would incriminate Hillary and her dealings with Russia and would be very useful to your father”.

Goldstone adds: “This is obviously very high level and sensitive information but is part of Russia and its government’s support for Mr Trump.”

Trump Jr replies 17 minutes later and welcomes the offer. “If it’s what you say, I love it, especially later in the summer.”

To be continued.

The next notable day of planetary action is Monday, July 17, when  action hero Mars will be challenged by rebel Uranus…AND…Venus will be challenged by Neptune. Watch for upsets, accidents and innovation in matters of action, leaders, aviation, technology and gender concerns, coupled with idealism about the feminine, aesthetics and healing. I wonder if we’ll be hearing more about the oppressive dress code enforced last week in the Speaker’s Lobby on Capitol Hill. A journalist from Across the Pond offers this rant on the women journalists who were ordered off the premises for the crime of wearing….a sleeveless dress. No, there is nothing specific in the dress code that prohibits the wearing of sleeveless dresses.

Thank you for reading this forecast — and sharing it with your friends.
