"... an incredibly insightful and delightful astrologer! We met for a an Essential Consultation with a Lifeline review and it was so worth it! Everything that we went over was so on point -- I left the consultation feeling validated that I'm on the path I want to be on. In fact, I plan to consult with Elisabeth every year."

Friday 8/25/2017 & the Weekend; Saturn Turns Direct; Unconventional Women & Others

TGIF in the Big Apple!

The Moon in Libra drives the day with a need for fairness, balance and harmony. It is aided and abetted by an enthusiastic meet-up with Jupiter at 11:31 AM ET, followed by cooperative alignments with Saturn (structure, advance) and Mars (action, assertion) at 12:08 PM and 4:05 PM ET. So far, so good.

As we get closer to midnight, we may see a disruption in the headlines, as the peace-seeking Libra Moon is jarred by rebel Uranus at 1:39 AM ET on SATURDAY. It then goes void  for a few hours, plunging into the emotional depths of Scorpio at 4:53 AM ET. No more airy-fairy Libra theories; a Scorpio Moon demands substance in its quest for mastery and control.

This drive continues with focus until MONDAY at 5:38 AM ET. The drive then becomes potentially unfocused and provocative, after going void on a cranky clash with Mars. This Moon void lasts until 3:48 PM ET. Feel free to sleep in without consequence and roll with the twists and flakes that interfere with your efforts to move forward in a straight line. Crises that crop up during voids often end up being much ado about nothing. Remember that Mercury is still retrograde, so check and double check before hitting “send.”

Meanwhile, Friday’s big pattern is Saturn — planet of ambition and control — finally turning direct as of 8:09 AM ET. What initiatives can we expect to see moving forward in the headlines? Let’s review:

Saturn refers to control, discipline and structure. Sagittarius refers to collective belief systems, including: the law, religion, philosophy and academia. Hmm…how about mind control? Or tests of faith?  It also refers to publishing and other mass communication media, as well as sports and entertainment. Expect efforts involving restrictions and/or restructuring. Sagittarius refers to that which is foreign, so issues of border control will likely become hotter. It refers to travel.  So we can expect headlines involving controls in these areas, too.

Righteousness is another Sagittarius buzzword, as is blunt honesty. As its best, the Saturnine restructuring of Sagittarius concerns will stem from righteousness, much as the restructuring of the institution of marriage (Libra) to include same-sex couples evolved when Saturn was in Libra. Fairness is a big Libra buzzword. Got that?

For those born around 21 days into Gemini, Virgo, Pisces and Sagittarius, this summer has likely been a bit of a squeeze.  Why? Because Saturn is turning direct at 21 degrees of Sagittarius. If you have a planet or key point at that degree, you are also likely feeling the squeeze of Saturn. You may need to cut your losses and focus on what’s really important. Your focused efforts may result in a streamlined, authoritative advance. If loss is what you are feeling, ask for support.  You are worth it.

Fun fact: the indented copy above was posted on August 9, 2016. The full post included predictions I made about Senator Susan Collins breaking away from the pack in 2017 . I’m pleased to say they have come to pass. Astrology is amazing.

Also of note this weekend: at 12:30AM ET on SATURDAY, Venus leaves Cancer for drama queen Leo. Playful, regal and loving — that’s the fun upside until Venus gets all persnickety in Virgo on September 19th. Enjoy the love until then, Leo kings and queens! Potential downside: off with your head — as howls of indignation make the headlines.

At 4:43 PM ET on SATURDAY, the Sun and Mercury meet up in Virgo, going off on an idealistic tangent about a new world order. On SUNDAY at 8:16 AM ET, the eagerly anticipated cooperative alignment (a sextile) between Jupiter and Saturn finally finally occurs. I expect to see more reaching across the aisle between opposing sides.

And now, the news.

Guess who has the Sun at 21 Sagittarius and has thus been feeling the squeeze from transiting Saturn all summer? Taylor Swift, that’s who. Here is her horoscope — birth time unconfirmed. How interesting that she’s making news TODAY about the release of her latest single, “Look What You Made Me Do.” It’s heavy — a sneak peek at Reputation, the new album due out in November — and not everyone likes it. Ms. Swift made news earlier this month when a jury agreed with her claim that a DJ groped her during a photo op. She testified in court on August 10th, hours after the first exact hit of Saturn to her Sun. “Taylor Swift Was a Boss in Court,” said USA Today. Ms. Swift will have a third and final Saturn-Sun conjunction on September 10th.

Meanwhile, Hillary Clinton is experiencing a Saturn transit to her adaptable 22 Pisces Moon. Using a birth time of 8:02 AM, we note that the Saturn  and the Moon refer to how she needs to think/communicate (3rd House) as well as publishing (9th House). Translation: ambition, gravitas and/or cuts in those matters. With Mars squaring her Scorpio Ascendant, suggesting a need for action, should we be surprised that she’s making headlines this week with her own sneak peek? Her new book is called What Happened — and one thing that happened was that she was stalked by “a creep” last fall. The book will be released next month, when Mars will be conjunct her Midheaven (career and status). We would expect an intiative in matters of creativity and ego recognition.

And of course, there’s P45 — whose Sun and Moon are under the influence of Saturn’s gravitas — along with Monday’s eclipse. He’s split with Steve Bannon and is fighting with Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan.   Alec Baldwin gave another mocking portrayal on SNL. But do not believe for a minute that his Cabinet is not getting things done. Here’s what’s going on at the EPA. Here’s the latest from HUD.

Meanwhile…

Yesterday’s square between Uranus in Aries (revolution, innovation, technogeeks) and Venus in Cancer (nourishment, women, values, money) was reflected in the following headlines — including, but not limited to:

UPDATE: Back in June, it was predicted that newly-elected French president Emmanuel Macron would undergo a bit of streamlining as transiting Saturn met up with his — wait for it — Venus (aesthetics; values) at 21 Sagittarius. Today’s revelation is that President Macron has spent “$30,000 on makeup services in three months. ”   That’s $330/day — which, as a day rate for a freelance make-up person, really does not seem so outrageous. Not only that, but Macron’s predecessors spent roughly the same amount. What makes Macron’s expenditures so objectionable? Timing! Streamlining Saturn is also being reflected in Macron’s experience as a 36% approval rating. Ouch.

I wonder what the French would think of Louise Linton, the Scottish-born actress and newly-wedded wife of Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin. She lit up social media with a blathersome tirade against a West Coast mom who was not amused by the hashtagged haute couture Ms. Linton made sure everyone knew she was wearing on a taxpayer-paid jaunt to the Path of Totality on Monday. Really, why else would she go to Louisville on a day trip with her husband if it weren’t for the solar eclipse?

Ms. Linton has since apologized for her “highly insensitive” Instagram post. Right. PSA of the DAY: When Mercury is retrograde, silence is golden.

It is interesting to note that Mr. and Mrs. Mnuchin share a birthday — Dec 21 — albeit eighteen years apart. That puts their Suns at the Aries Point at the very end Sagittarius (likely), so you can appreciate why this couple can’t help but attract attention. Their respective Suns are about to be squeezed by transiting Saturn in mid-December. Stay tuned…

…and please stay safe if you’re in Texas.
