Astro-logical Forecast for Wednesday-Thursday 10/19-20/2016: Mars-Pluto Slugfest; Two Davids, Right on Schedule

Alllll-righty then!

The day is driven by the Moon info junkie Gemini, seeking to be the smartest kid in the room. What sordid barrage of facts and figures will assault our collective senses in light of this morning’s potentially brutal meet-up between Mars (action action action) and Pluto (resistance is futile) in status-seeking, patriarchal Capricorn? And from what dark dungeon will it emerge? Mars and Pluto come together at 7:18AM ET; that Gemini Moon is staunchly opposed by an opinionated Saturn in Sagittarius at 7:40AM ET.

If you have a planet or angle around 14-16 degrees (halfway through) Aries, Libra, Cancer and especially Capricorn, you’re likely feeling the emotional intensity and/or power play more than most.

I’ll be on the watch for more startling revelations and tech innovations as mental Mercury is opposed by erratic Uranus at 3:48AM ET on THURSDAY. Note that the Moon will be void of course Thursday AM between 7:16 and 11:28, no doubt generating plenty of much-ado-about-nothing info junkie (info junk?) Gemini buzz. Chill! We’ve got one more provocative hit to go through on Oct 29th, when Mars challenges Uranus, suggesting risk and recklessness. Planetary patterns in the ensuing weeks are less disruptive.

Meanwhile, we can expect a manifestation of the above planetary patterns in tonight’s slugfest third presidential debate, which officially starts at 6PM PT in Las Vegas. One party will be obviously more on the attack than the other — likely Hillary Clinton’s opponent. I say likely because the debate probably won’t start on time, and in this case, that few minutes do make a difference in determining which it is.  The attacks will be attention-dominating, but ultimately are not likely to be integrated in any meaningful way.  The other party will endeavor to keep it optimistic, big-picture focused, with a risk of pushing boundaries in its expression. The debate starts with the Moon at 21 degrees of Gemini, exactly square Chiron, a.k.a. the Wounded Healer. This pattern reinforces the dredging up of past personal transgressions suggested in other patterns. Send the little kids off to bed early — oy vey!

And now, the news.

As I type, a second Mars orbit and landing effort is underway. It’s called Exo Mars — on a Mars-Pluto meet-up AND a Mercury-Uranus face-off? Those who speak astrology can not help but marvel at the astonishing synchronicity of planetary patterns and the headlines.

Also in sync: “Guiding Trump, an Ex-General Shakes His Fist at Washington.” Mars refers to the military and anger. The ex-general is Michael Flynn, whose birth date is unknown (“December 1958,” says Wikipedia).

UPDATE: In recent days Bernie Sanders experienced the second exact hit of transiting Uranus opposing his natal Venus. We’d expect an intensification and disruptive potential in his social expression. So what happened? A few days ago one of his tweets resulted in the stock price of a drug company — Ariad — to drop almost $400 million in one day. I’d say that’s pretty disruptive. That same day I saw a number of posts on Facebook about an op-ed Bernie Sanders wrote for the Los Angeles Times — in August. Why was the op-ed getting attention in October?

The next exact hits to his Venus and Mars from Uranus will happen in March. If you happen to be a Bernie supporter who is contemplating sitting out the election because your candidate is not on the ballot, consider this: if the Democrats regain control of the Senate, Sanders could become the chair of the Senate Budget Committee, which would ruin Speaker Paul Ryan’s day, as he says right here.  So quit sulking and vote. Right after Election Day, Senator Sanders will have a transit suggesting potential for an advance of ambition and authority, or a potential squeeze. Which will it be?

UPDATE: David Letterman. When we last looked at his horoscope back in March of 2015, we anticipated that the summer and into 2016 would be a year of significant change. Here he is in a recent interview, sporting a full-length beard and talking about his travels to India for his work on Years of Living Dangerously, a new series about climate change (National Geographic Channel on Oct 30). Thank you transiting Uranus and Pluto on Mr. Letterman’s natal Venus, transforming his social expression and values.

Meanwhile, reflecting the potential for power plays and tech disruptions: Ecuador cut off Julian Assange’s internet connection. Owners of exploding Samsung Galaxy 7 phones are furious that Samsung is stalling on making good on damages allegedly suffered. Hopefully someone else’s power play won’t disrupt your world.

Finally, Bob Dylan  isn’t the only 75-year old music legend making headlines. David Crosby has a new album out and it’s lovely to hear. A quick glance at his horoscope and we immediately see that his me-me-me Aries Ascendant (suggesting a need to be seen as inspiring and pioneering) is about to receive its last hit from transiting Pluto, suggesting an empowering new perspective and presentation. We also note that his Ascendant and his Midheaven were under pressure from both Uranus and Pluto back in 2014, when he released his first solo album in 20 years. Coincidence or conspiracy? Check out this excerpt from an interview published in The Guardian (and linked above):

You’re 75. Does having one of the most productive streaks happen now opposed to decades ago mean more to you?

It means a lot. I’m not sure I fully understand why it happened.

Mr. Crosby, if you are reading this now, please get in touch with me and I will explain it to you. If anyone who knows Mr. Crosby happens to be reading this, please forward it to him.

Astrology is amazing. What’s going on in your horoscope?

Astro-logical Forecast for Wednesday 12/10/2014: The Perfect Timing of Dianne Feinstein

Light patterns among the personal planets, including a playful Moon in Leo today and tomorrow are well-suited for good times and efforts to shine. Way to go Malala, claim that Nobel Peace Prize! Heavy patterns between the outer planets, i.e. the building tension between Uranus and Pluto that will be exact on Monday, suggest plenty of upsets, breakthroughs and power plays, especially if they are making contact with your unique horoscope.

To find out how the disruptive yet potentially empowering Uranus-Pluto square is impacting your horoscope, I invite you to schedule a personal astro-logical consultation. Or consider giving a consultation as a gift to a special someone. The insights to be gained are priceless and will last forever.

Take Dianne Feinstein, for example. Her crusading, fight-for-the-underdog Aries Ascendant is at 14 degrees, and thus directly supercharged not only by Uranus and Pluto (all this year and into next), but by recent and upcoming eclipses. When she learned that computers in Congress had been hacked by US intelligence agencies seeking to undermine efforts to investigate allegations of torture (paid for by US taxpayers), she led the charge, as Chairwoman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, to bring the truth of her Committee’s five-year investigation to light before a new regime in January could squelch it.  Some might raise an eyebrow at that choice, given that:

“She notably called Edward J. Snowden’s leaks of classified information about U.S. intelligence “an act of treason”. And she infuriated liberals with her backing of the NSA’s broad-reaching and covert effort to collect data from the telephone calls of Americans. She felt compelled to do so out of a sense of obligation to “keep this country safe,” she told the New York Times in a 2013 interview, “So put that in your pipe and smoke it.”

Of course she would feel obligated to keep this country safe — prominently so — with her Sun at 0 degrees of homeland security-focused Cancer. But her apparent dramatic change of direction and perspective on the wisdom of releasing such damning information at this time is screamingly obvious by Uranus and Pluto making contact with that 14 Aries Ascendant.  Also credit her information-junkie Moon in Gemini, which derives its emotional security and satisfaction by keeping people informed, and  for digging up the facts, even if only 500 of 6000 pages of the report have been made available to the public.  One shudders to think what those 5500 still-classified pages contain. Read the rest of the CNN article quoted above and you will experience, by the reporter’s choice of words, exactly what is going on in Feinstein’s horoscope.

The angles of Bill Cosby’s horoscope — Aries Ascendant and Capricorn — are under similar pressure from Uranus and Pluto now and into 2015-16. Big changes or direction and prominence in his life, too. Coincidence or conspiracy?

If you are a student of astrology or a practicing astrologer and thus have no intention or need to schedule a personal consultation, I invite you to express your appreciation and holiday giving spirit right here, with gratitude. Make the most of this Leo Moon, which delights in shining and letting others know that they shine, too.

Astro-logical Forecast for Friday 9/5/2014 & the Weekend: Joan Rivers, RIP

TGIF!

Make the most of the morning hours to take care of business while the Moon is still engaged in Capricorn and supported by an energetic connection to action hero Mars.  At 11:08AM ET, Moon goes void until 7:59PM ET, suggesting a higher probability of twists in your efforts to move forward in a straight line. Stick to routine tasks, chill or start your weekend early, perhaps on a less dramatic, more refined note than in previous weeks, given that Venus leaves Leo for Virgo today at 1:07PM ET. Venus refers to social expression. Virgo refers to perfection and discernment.

At 7:59PM ET, Moon enters “who’s yer buddy” Aquarius for the bulk of the weekend, seeking to be of social significance and network with friends from all walks of life. Saturday’s a go for making purchases, though you may need to resist a temptation to overindulge around 2:11Pm ET, when the Moon opposes expansive, expensive Jupiter.

The evening favors more of what’s innovative and unconventional, suggested by a friendly connection between the Moon and rebel Uranus at 9:05PM ET. A few hours later, however, note the potential for a wet blanket or other imposed control suggested by a challenge between Moon and stern Saturn, which can not get out of Scorpio fast enough, if you ask me. Alas, we’re stuck with Saturn in Scorpio until the end of the year. Moon goes void again on Sunday at 1:19PM ET on a highly-charged challenge to aggressive Mars. If you’re a sports fan, keep an eye out for twists and upsets that favor the underdog until the Moon enters compassionate Pisces at 7:47PM ET.

No sleeping in on Monday. Moon will not be void and it will be waxing to fullness at 9:36PM ET.

And now, the news.

Wednesday’s potent alignment between the Sun and regenerative Pluto was the highlight of the week, suggesting news from underground, corruption exposed and/or resolved, oil and gas (underground resources) and healing.  In Virginia, former governor Bob McDonnell and his wife were found guilty of corruption. BP was found to be the “primary culprit” and  “reckless” four years after its Deepwater Horizon oil rig blew up; it now faces an additional $18 billion in penalties. Meanwhile, a dinosaur skeleton unearthed in Argentina some years ago was described in fascinating detail as the most ginormous dinosaur yet. Elsewhere, as predicted on June 11th, former Virginia Congressman Eric Cantor landed a seven-figure job on Wall Street. What will he be doing? Giving out advice.

When it came time to find a new job after losing a primary battle with David Brat, a relatively unknown college professor with deep support from Tea Party activists, the lawmaker said he eventually decided to head to the boutique investment bank to focus on dispensing advice to clients.

Mazel tov, Mr. Cantor! May we all be so richly rewarded for the wisdom we’ve accumulated over the years.

Which brings me to the subject of healing and regeneration, one of the more positive potentials of a Sun-Pluto alignment.  Here’s a fascinating NYT piece about the Center for Courage & Renewal, which “help(s) people strengthen their sense of purpose and deepen their self-awareness and understanding of others.” The author of the piece found himself wishing that every member of Congress would attend one of the Center’s retreats, to help bring this polarized body into some form of functional alignment. But the retreats work just as well for regular folks, too.

In other news, Joan Rivers,  passed away yesterday at 1:17PM ET in New York, when the Moon was exactly conjunct Pluto (power plays, transformation, catharses). Here is her horoscope — a slam dunk, given the life she led. How so? Take a quick look and we immediately note the Sun in pixie chatterbox Gemini opposing Moon in opinionated Sagittarius,  in a T square to a pugnacious and expansive/bombastic conjunction between Mars and Jupiter. Moon is in the 9th house, where it would need to seek an international reach, perhaps through a collective broadcast/publishing medium. The challenges from Mars and Jupiter in Virgo suggest a need to talk about everything, driven by a need for perfection.

The Gemini Sun is in a power-packed 3rd house of communication, along with a tight conjunction of mental Mercury and aesthetic Venus at 29 Gemini, which regular readers of this forecast know is also the Aries Point. So we immediately expect that social expression, communication and aesthetics are going to need prominence. And you can see why she might become known for having umpteen cosmetic surgeries, in a quest to achieve perfection. It’s interesting to note that Mars and Jupiter are in the 6th house (physical body) and that Mars rules her Aries Ascendant (how she needed to be seen).

An Aries Ascendant would need to be seen as a pioneer and an inspiration. Well, that totally fits. Both her Ascendant and her make-it-happen Capricorn Midheaven are close enough to the Aries Point to suggest a further need for prominence. This horoscope was born to be famous. It also has rebel Uranus in Aries, and in the 1st House. This suggests an electric, potentially shocking and unconventional first impression, and a need to disrupt the status quo. The potential for being a game-changer is further supported by a square to Uranus from ruthless Pluto. It is interesting to note that her Uranus, which rules the 12th house of critical illness/self-undoing was eclipsed in April. It is also interesting to note that her natal Saturn at 16 Aquarius was under pressure from transiting Saturn in Scorpio all summer.  Also suggesting a potential stress in health matters: her natal Neptune is currently opposed by transiting Neptune. Regular readers know that Neptune tends to dissolve whatever it touches. Her natal Neptune sits in the 6th house and rules the 12th, both of which refer to health matters.

Fascinating, isn’t it? RIP, Joan Rivers. You lived your horoscope to its fullest potential…and you won’t need any more face lifts now that you’re in Heaven. You’re perfect, just the way you are.

Final note — because I truly enjoy facilitating abundance for other people. The glamor photo in my last forecast of my beloved cat, Phoebe, was taken by photographer Jim Herrington. He’s an extremely gifted professional, and you can see more of his work here.
