"I'm a skeptic by nature and I still don't know how she does it, but Elisabeth told me more about myself and about critical points in my life than she could've known beforehand or can possibly be dismissed as coincidence or a parlor trick. And she helped me to use this as a framework to analyze the here and now more clearly. The session was definitely a positive, eye-opening experience."

Astro-logical Forecast for Monday 6/20/2016: Full Moon; Summer Solstice; Mercury in Focus

Good Morning!

After waxing to its fullness at the very end of Sagittarius at 7:02AM ET, Moon went void for barely an hour and then launched into earthy Capricorn at 7:55AM ET. Whatever that big idea of yours was, Capricorn needs to push it forward, which it aims to do for at least the next two days.

Did you note your dreams this morning?  Mine were out of this world. Chalk it up to Mercury, a big player in the cosmos today, as it opposes Saturn at 10:56AM ET and then squares Neptune at 1:11PM ET. Here’s a story illustrating that potential for bewilderment over necessary controls: British astronaut Tim Peake is “nursing the world’s worst hangover” after being in space for six months. Here, he is bewildered by gravity — literally. Don’t you just love that?  On Wednesday, big ideas get even bigger, as Mercury (mindset, communication, commerce, travel) squares Jupiter at 6:59PM ET.

At 6:34PM ET, the Sun enters Cancer. Happy summer solstice!

Here’s what you need to know about the first day of any season  — i.e., equinoxes and solstices — from an astrological point of view. The first days of Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter correspond with the first day (or first degree) of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn, respectively (there are thirty degrees in each sign of the zodiac). Got that? Good.

These four signs are called cardinal signs. Cardinal signs initiate. They come up with the idea and put it into action, which leads to necessary change. “Cardinal” suggests (from the Latin root of the word), “that on which something turns or depends.”  So the first day/degree of a Cardinal sign is a turning point. In astrology, the technical term for the first degree of any Cardinal sign is the “Aries Point”, just to confuse people who are not professional astrologers. In other words, the first day of Cancer, Libra, Capricorn and Aries is the Aries Point. The first day of Taurus (and the rest of the signs) is NOT at the Aries Point).

Equinoxes and solstices are also prominent. We make a fuss over them, right? In Japan, the first day of each season is actually a national holiday. How cool is that? Thus, in a horoscope, a planet or angle at the Aries Point needs to be prominent. Off the top of my head, Meryl Streep & Elizabeth Warren (both Cancers — happy birthday!) and William Shatner (an Aries) were born with the Sun at the Aries Point. They’re pretty prominent in everything they do, don’t you think?

In the headlines today,  look for leadership to be prominent. Who’s in? Who’s out?

There are no other exact aspects among the planets (other than the Moon) to report this week. Your Moon voids — natural rest periods where focusing on routine matters is an apt strategy — are as follows: Wednesday 4:57AM ET until 4:08PM ET; Friday 11:48AM ET until 10:30PM ET — ooh, another Friday to cut out early.

Two quick headlines reflecting the uplifting potential of Mercury’s contact with Saturn and Neptune (to balance the NYT’s stark and despairing homepage headline about food riots in Venezuela). First, visionary artist Christo’s latest installation in Italy will allow you to walk on (Saturn) water (Neptune). The surreal brushstrokes he adds to the real world always make me smile. Second, a barricade (Saturn) of angelic beings (Neptune) prevented delusional (Neptune) members of the Westboro Baptist Church from getting too close to the funerals of those who were killed last weekend in Orlando. Would that those Westboro folks could find a more productive hobby…

And now, I must cut out early — ending this forecast to tend to many other tasks today. I would love for one of those tasks to be a consultation with you about your horoscope. How do all these potent planetary patterns apply to YOU? Here’s the 411.

Thank you for reading this forecast and for sharing it with your friends.

Astro-logical Forecast for Thursday 12/22/2011: More on the Solstice, Cardinal Signs, Saturn in Libra and Social Justice

UranusAn energetic day, suggested by plenty of connections among the planets. Did you note your dreams this morning? You might have been channeling an especially beautiful escape — or a profound insight, suggested by two connections to the Moon from nebulous Neptune and innovative Uranus. After a brief Moon void from 4:49AM – 7:03 AM ET, Moon entered high-flying Sagittarius, lightening a bit of yesterday’s intensity.

A  buoyant connection between Sun and jolly Jupiter (9:33AM ET), adds to the festivity and suggests there may be time to splurge on a gift for that special someone. Still looking for inspiration? How about a gift certificate for an astrology consultation? What could be more thoughtful — or practical?  In any event, as the afternoon progresses, it could all come together in a flash, as erratic Uranus challenges the Sun and Mercury (mind, communication) in the “big picture” sign of Sagittarius hooks up with the Moon. This connection hold much potential for expressing opinions!

A few more thoughts about the nature of CARDINAL signs (please see yesterday’s Solstice Forecast for initial thoughts on that topic). The Latin root of cardinal is “cardin”, meaning “hinge”. Think about this: in ancient Roman times, a door could not  open or close without a hinge. A hinge is literally a “turning point”. Add this image to yesterday’s thoughts on cardinal signs…and especially the beginning (first degree) of each cardinal sign. On this Solstice, with the Sun at zero degrees of the cardinal sign Capricorn and rebel Uranus at zero degrees of the pioneer/warrior sign of Aries, we have the potential for a big turning point — not just in world events, but in your own personal world. So think about the shifts and quantum leaps you might like to make and put them out there for the next New Moon, exact on Saturday at 1:06PM ET.

Speaking of the potential for things changing “just like that” (again, see yesterday’s forecast), check out this photo that hit the headlines yesterday — it’s a fine  illustration of the potential of rebel Uranus challenging the Sun http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/usa/8972431/Women-sailors-share-first-gay-kiss-in-US-Navy.html  It’s also reflects the potential for social justice, fairness and equality suggested by controlling Saturn in Libra (relationships, law, justice). A couple of years ago, when Saturn entered Libra (a CARDINAL sign, mind you), I anticipated that the US military’s policy of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” would be abolished because it is neither just nor fair. Equality, justice and fairness are big things in the horoscope of the US; our country was founded on those principles, suggested in part by Saturn (our ambition & structure) in Libra in the US horoscope. So when transiting Saturn completed its hook-up with the US Saturn this fall, that’s when I figured DADT would finally go away. Which it did. And someone, this “rebellious”  social shift has not brought the world to an end…but a world has ended. Just like that. All part of the new normal.

Inequality — especially income inequality — is, of course, a theme of the Occupy Wall Street movement. And with Saturn in Libra until late 2012, you can bet that OWS and any other movement that points out inequality, is not going away. Not convinced? Yesterday I read the news that Rocky Anderson has launched a third political party called — THE JUSTICE PARTY, along with  his presidential campaign http://www.justicepartyusa.net/results/all/?group=8744&searchnext=true&q=rocky anderson&all=0&site=8744  Coincidence or conspiracy?? A former Democrat and former mayor of Salt Lake City, Rocky Anderson is someone you might find of interest. He’s a Virgo, with Saturn also in…Libra. Check him out:   http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rocky_Anderson

Astro-logical Forecast for Friday & Saturday 7/1-2 2011: New Moon in Cancer

We are waking up in the aftermath of an especially potent New Moon/solar eclipse at 10 degrees of Cancer, exact at 4:54AM ET. This is the third eclipse we’ve had within a month; please refer to the June 1st and June 15th forecast for helpful analogies involving baby ducks, traffic cops and Important Films explaining why eclipses are significant (www.graceastrology.com)  In a nutshell, eclipses interrupt the usual flow, creating bottlenecks of energy which are later released. The stoppage creates opportunity, especially during a New Moon, for something new to emerge.

For the past two weeks I’ve been writing about the suggested manifestation of the life-giving Sun, now in the early days of Cancer, connecting with the Big T-Square Party among the heavies (ruthless Pluto, disruptive Uranus and controlling Saturn). Now we add the New Moon to the pattern. Picture the Sun and Moon at one corner of a square, opposing Pluto at the opposite corner. Opposing each other in the remaining two corners of the square are Uranus and Saturn. If you can’t wrap your head around the image of a square, imagine the pattern as a cross, which is the technical terms for it: a Grand Cross. This pattern holds tremendous tension and potential for development, especially since the planets involved are in the proactive signs of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn (technical term for these signs: Cardinal). These signs NEED to start something NEW, by which it therefore follows that whatever is new will replace whatever is old. And therein lies the crisis: because old structures and forms sometimes won’t give up without a fight. Nobody wants to die (or have their cherished forms torn down).

Power, resources, energy, infrastructure, government (especially of the patriarchal kind). Banks, currency and taxes. Systems that are corrupt or decaying  — exposed. Ripe for change! We live in interesting times.Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn folks born three to ten days into their respective signs will likely be feeling this configuration the most. If you have a planet at 3-10 degrees of those cardinal signs, especially Moon, Ascendant or Midheaven, you are also likely experiencing an impetus to replace an old structure with something new.

saThe Sabian Symbol for the New Moon of 10 degrees of Cancer is “a diamond in the rough.” Consider the areas of your life related to Cancer: emotional security, homeland security, financial security, nourishment, motherhood, America and apple pie. This is an area of your life that is up for refinement (cutting away at that diamond). What do you need to feel more (emotionally) secure? If big structural systems are in crisis (and they are!), consider what you can create in your own home — in your own family — so that you can “keep calm and carry on” throughout it all. Embrace the concept of necessary change. This is a month for action.
Moon is void of course all day today …until 5PM ET on SATURDAY. Chill, meditate, take care of the routine — don’t fret about starting anything new — just go with the flow.
