"The reading was a partnership between the two of us; she did not simply recite planetary signs and meanings, but had a conversation with me, continually asking what I made of what she saw, and what I thought I could do to change the things I want to change.

When the names of other people in my life came up, she quickly looked up their charts on her computer and commented on their roles in my life -- painting a fuller picture of where I was, where I wanted to go, and how I could get there.

What was impressive was that Elisabeth took all the planets, people, and situations that made up my life and created a context for them all that was positive, hopeful, and exciting!

She has a lovely personality, a sharp wit, and a gift for astrological interpretation."

Astro-logical Forecast for Thursday 5/12/2011: Raj Rajaratnam

For some, the headline yesterday that brought much good cheer (keeping in line with good cheer anticipated all this week), was the news that Raj Rajaratnam, hedge fund manager extraordinaire, had been found guilty of conspiracy and securities fraud

Rajaratnam was reportedly born in Colombo, Sri Lanka on June 15, 1957 (time unknown); Sun in chatty Gemini (like Donald Trump and Newt Gingrich) and Moon in either make-it-happen Capricorn or socially significant Aquarius (I suspect it’s enterprising Capricorn, but I’m not willing to spend the hours it would take to test for an exact birth time). What else might we expect to find in his horoscope? This is your chance, for those of you who read this forecast everyday, to amaze yourselves with what you’ve learned about astrology and how you can apply it to good use yourself (my secret stealth mission).

Here are some facts about today’s astro-logical poster child, followed by planetary patterns we might expect to see in the horoscope.

  • He studied engineering in college. We’re going to expect to see Uranus (innovation, technology) prominently configured.
  • He is famous for excess, to the point of wretchedness. He reportedly paid Kenny Rogers millions of dollars to perform at a birthday party. One of his favorite songs is “The Gambler”. Think! What planet is associated with EXPANSION? We’ll expect to it placed strongly.
  • Since he was convicted of fraud, we’ll expect to see a powerful placement of the planet associated with things not being as they seem (NEBULOUS). What planet is that?

Let’s go to the chart. We see Uranus (technology, genius, innovation) in royal Leo (grand, sense of entitlement) in an exact connection to Mercury (mind) in clever Gemini. DING! This man is very, very smart. We see expansive……JUPITER in a tight challenge to the Sun. A challenging influence from Jupiter can be over-indulgent. DING DING! Finally, we see nebulous….NEPTUNE in a challenging aspect to Mars. Newt Gingrich, Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin and Bill Clinton all have challenging aspects between these two planets. Would you say that all of these people might be described as charismatic…to the point of being slick? Do they exist in their own unique version of reality? Have they ever been thought of as deceptive? DING DING DING!

Now let’s say this horoscope belongs to someone running for office or applying for a job in your company. Would you vote for them? Would you hire them? If you said “yes,” what other information would you need about them in order to feel confident that you’d made a good decision? What do you think would be this person’s strengths or weaknesses?  Remember: there is nothing inherently good or bad with planetary patterns. People decide how to use — or misuse/abuse their abilities. People decide whether to build all the way up to heaven or all the way down to hell.

Use today’s analytical Moon in Virgo energy to digest this complimentary astro-logical lesson…or anything else on your plate that requires mulling over and organization. Oh– and here’s another example of idealism/”miracles just might happen” thinking hitting the headlines. Yesterday a bill was introduced in the Senate — again — (by Bernie Sanders of Vermont and Jim McDermott of Washington State )to establish a single-payer health insurance/care system in the United States. It is astonishing to me how many otherwise super-smart Americans do not know what “single-payer” means. I am convinced that it is perhaps the most significant reason why the concept hasn’t won greater support. Houston, we have a problem. A MARKETING problem.

Read about single-payer health care here, or enjoy my pithy explanation. Single payer means taxpayer-funded, as in Medicare For All. OK, what does that mean? It means given a choice between spending your tax dollars to build military bases all over the Middle East or paying your hospital bills in the event you are hit by a bus, how would you choose to spend it? Excellent. I see you are in favor of a single-payer system, as you would prefer to spend your tax dollars on your health care. In the best of all possible worlds, we would use the money we currently spend on, for example, military bases in the Middle East and spend it on keeping you healthy and free from the worry that if you get sick, you will go bankrupt. Y’know, like they do in every other allegedly civilized Western nation. Single-payer/taxpayer funded health care is nothing new. If you know anyone whose parents served in the military, that person has enjoyed the benefits of taxpayer-funded health care. Why should they have all the fun?

Of course, if we don’t spend our money building military bases in the Middle East, we won’t be able to stand guard over all that oil…which means maybe we’ll have to stop relying on oil and come up with an alternative source of energy that doesn’t require a military base to guard it. Oh my, I am really dreaming here. Must be the stars… ; )

Astro-logical Forecast for Thursday 2/24/2011

Today’s forecast — no rest for weary! We’ll wake up with Moon in high-flying Sagittarius, which should lighten the mood and give everyone a soapbox from which to opine. Note your dreams upon waking. Try not to step on anyone’s toes with your brilliant, willful points of view, if a clash of wills is not in your best interest. If you need to clash, you’ll likely have a chance to do so today.

As the day progresses, say around 3 or 6PM, depending on your time zone, another challenge may emerge related to your New Moon agenda from three weeks ago. What did we say it was? Oh, here: What quantum leaps of consciousness and/or efficiency are within your potential this month? What other “great leaps forward” will we see in the headlines? Think humanitarian, socially significant, rebellion, freedom, technology and whatever else disrupts the status quo. Dare to be boring (the word “boring” has been corrupted; it means to pierce through), with your New Moon agenda, and push through to the light on the other side. Consider this, as a jovial mood settles in for the evening, just in time to wish Steve Jobs a happy birthday. Where would we be without him?

Meanwhile, coincidence or conspiracy? Yesterday’s forecast: “dare to make a deeper connection,” and what makes headlines? A daring, deep connection made by a blogger impersonating billionaire and alleged Tea Party financier David Koch in a phone call to Governor Scott Walker, whose horoscope you may also recall from yesterday’s forecast. I had not heard Walker speak — you can find a recording and a transcript here  — and I was intrigued to hear him barrel through his agenda with a singular focus, determined to maintain control and not budge one inch from his established goals, which he clearly believes in 1000%. — just as his horoscope suggests. I was particularly struck by Walker’s reference to what appeared to be an admired ideal — Ronald Reagan’s firing of the air traffic controllers during their strike in 1981 — do you recall how Walker’s horoscope suggests a strong idealism?

Another dare to make a deeper connection: the Defense of Marriage Act will no longer be defended in court by the Justice Dept: And here’s another, by a college student daring to seek a deeper connection with Newt Gingrich

A brief word on the events of 1981-82 — and why they may be coming around again. The US is currently experiencing a Saturn return. The last one we had was in — you guessed it — 1981-82. Saturn is related to ambition, structures, control–  and it takes 28-30 years to circle through a horoscope and return to its original position.  So every 28-30 years we (and here I’m talking about “we” as Americans, not your own personal Saturn return), get to re-assess decisions we made way back then. What ambitions did we set? How are they working out? What are we going to reach for in the next 28-30 years? Does it feel like the US is currently re-evaluating ambitions set in 1981-82?

You’re having a personal Saturn return now if you were born in Sep/Oct 1981, Apr-Aug of 1982 or Sep/Oct of 1952 — this is a very important time in your life — consult your local astrologer for details.

Astro-logical Forecast for Monday 10/25/2010

Does President Obama read this Astro-logical Forecast? On Thursday I wrote, “Friday we’ll have a Full Moon and nebulous Neptune challenging aggressive Mars. Be mindful of what you put in your system over the next couple of days as your sensitivity to toxins may be higher than usual. This includes people selling snake oil.” And wouldn’t you know it, on Friday, this item makes headlines: “President Barack Obama, fighting to keep Democrats in control of the U.S. Senate, accused Republicans on Friday of peddling discredited “snake oil ideas” about the U.S. economy.”

A quest for information is on deck for the next couple of days — as in “knowledge is power”. Watch the headlines for efforts to control the flow of information in an effort to wield power and influence — and yes, the planetary influences coinciding with this phenomena have been in effect for a couple of days — exact this AM at 9:17 NY time (Mercury conjunct Venus in substance-demanding Scorpio). This connection is often extremely idealistic — as in “rose-colored glasses” — so please do your due diligence regarding whatever news comes across your desk — it’s likely to be laced with seductive charm that may hide a subversive agenda. That being said, your own personal agenda could be pitched persuasively and successfully today — since whoever is on the receiving end of your pitch probably doesn’t read an astrology forecast, he or she might well accept it on face value.  The buzz begins at 7:47AM NY time, with the Moon’s entry into clever, chatty Gemini.

Meanwhile — another follow up to Thursday’s forecast regarding the impact of Venus retrograde in Scorpio on the chart of Clarence Thomas — note that on Friday, a past love surfaces and confirms several allegations made by Anita Hill. http://www… Note that Venus turned retrograde EXACTLY on his Midheaven (this is the highest point in his chart — representing career, status — an extremely significant point). A skilled astrologer could have alerted Thomas to this time period — suggesting that his reputation might well be in the spotlight — and that a lover returning to ruthlessly rehash the past would be one possible manifestation.

Astro-logical Forecast for Thursday 10/21/2010

Oh, that bewildering Neptune. And that witchy bitchy Venus retrograde in Scorpio dredging up the dreck in relationships — past and present! How else to explain Mrs. Clarence Thomas’s phone call to Professor Anita Hill on Oct 9th asking her to apologize to her husband, the alleged sexual harasser and current Supreme Court Justice. Quick glance at Mrs Thomas’s chart: immediately we see she may be prone to idealism (Sun in Pisces, ruled by Neptune, trine to Neptune), with likely obsessive tendencies resulting from stressful connections between aggressive Mars and delusional Neptune, and mental Mercury and ruthless Pluto (“sexuality, illusion, fantasy and deceit can be played out; may be driven to focus on the unknown, unconscious or subconscious; can be cunning persuasive and manipulative through use of communication and information”). Mrs. Thomas was driven (check her transits) to place a phone call to Professor Hill on a day marked by a stressful contact between Mercury (mind) and expansive Jupiter —  “grandiose thinking; opinionation and bias; driven by belief systems, religious concepts, philosophical ideology; idealism” — and Venus (women) had just gone retrograde EXACTLY on her husband’s Midheaven, which represents his public career status! Yes, nebulous Neptune is currently “hot” in all three charts: the Thomases and Professor Hill — and in the case of Clarence Thomas, we see his Sun (life force), Venus (women, social expression) and Mercury (mind) all under pressure from the Big T-Square Party, especially ruthless Pluto.  Fellow astrologers — birth data for all three posted below; we could talk for hours about these charts. Dear civilians, I’ll now move on to the moment you’ve been waiting for:

Moon is still in impulsive, start-it-yesterday Aries, inspiring you to push ahead. And push ahead you must, while the Moon is still waxing full. Note a possible clash between boundless enthusiasm and a lump of coal in the early part of the day — work through it, if you must. Note also that we are not out of the weirdness zone yet: Friday we’ll have a Full Moon and nebulous Neptune challenging aggressive Mars. Be mindful of what you put in your system over the next couple of days as your sensitivity to toxins may be higher than usual. This includes people selling snake oil. On the plus side — a charismatic performance might be within reach if it comes from an authentic source.

BIRTH DATA: Mrs. Clarence Thomas Feb 23, 1957, time unknown, likely Omaha, NE; Mr. Clarence Thomas Jun 23 1948, 9PM Pin Point, GA; Professor Anita Hill Jul 30, 1956, time unknown, Tulsa, OK  — acknowledging Ricki Reeves, author of THE QUINDECILE — all quotes above from her superb astrological text on a little-known, but extremely potent aspect
