Monday 10/28/2019: Sneak Peek at the Week; Mercury Retrograde Survival Guide

The start of the work week is driven by the Moon in Scorpio, working efficiently today and most of tomorrow to organize and consolidate deep knowledge for the sake of power and control. The buzz in the air is reflecting the ripple effect of the 4:14 AM ET opposition between the Sun and Uranus, suggesting more than the usual shocks in the morning headlines.

Mercury is the main focus this week. It is part of the week’s only other exact aspect among planets (other than the Moon). That aspect is a meet-up on Wednesday with Venus in Scorpio, suggesting idealism expressed in a potent or witchy-bitchy manner — involving women, publishing, art, money and how and whom we love.

Mercury is literally IN FOCUS this week, now at 27 degrees of Scorpio and slowing to a virtual standstill (from our perspective on Spaceship Earth). It turns retrograde at 11:42 AM ET on THURSDAY….not to turn direct until November 21st. BACK UP YOUR COMPUTERS NOW…and NO WHINING! As Avid Readers will recall this Really Useful Mercury Retrograde Survival Guide:

Even if you know nothing else about astrology, you may have heard this term before. Often it’s accompanied by curses and groans, and that’s a shame. Yes, all of the flights on American Airlines might be grounded because of a computer glitch. Or the entire country of Finland might be offline because there’s a transportation strike (actual Mercury Rx events). But there’s much good that can be accomplished when the Messenger Planet appears to be retracing its steps.

Mercury—which in the language of astrology refers to mindset, travel and communication—will appear to move backward through the sky from October 31st until November 21st. It’s not really moving backward, but that is how it looks from our perspective here on Spaceship Earth. Mercury goes retrograde 3-4 times each year, for a period of 22 days.

Contrary to popular belief, Mercury retrogrades are no reason to freak out. Mercury retrograde gets a bad rap because we are geared, in this crazy modern age, to always be thinking, doing, moving FORWARD. You know what that gets you? BURN OUT. We need our down times, and Mercury retrograde is a perfect time to give our minds a rest. Why else would your computer, phone and/or car choose THIS time to malfunction? Because you are supposed to be slowing down. And as you slow down, it is vitally important that you FOCUS.

When Mercury is retrograde, be prepared for travel delays, scheduling screw-ups, mechanical breakdowns, computer crashes, having to repeat what you’ve just said, misunderstandings, the past coming back for a second look, surprise reunions and having to repeat what you just said. Use your FOCUS and double check important details, like whether the restaurant you’ve chosen for a meet-up is still in business. Or whether it is booked for a commercial shoot or a private party — all of which has happened to me during Mercury retrogrades.

If you are looking for a job, Mercury retrogrades are a perfect time to reach out to people from your past. Mine your address book and trust that your contacts will be happy to hear from you. However, do not be frustrated if your target is away on vacation or keeps rescheduling meetings. Also, triple check your emails and resumes before you hit “send,” as there is a higher probability of typos and other sloppy snafus.

In your business, you’ll need to make sure all communications have been received and are clearly understood. Be mindful of the higher potential for communications equipment to go on the fritz. MAKE SURE YOUR FILES ARE BACKED UP. Also be aware of a higher than average probability for delays in shipping and travel arrangements. For this you will need an extra dose of patience.

You may also find it profitable to REview a project from the past. Maybe you shelved it then, but now is the time to REconsider. However, be advised that a spontaneously, “out-of-the-blue” idea for advancement may not be so sound when Mercury turns direct. This is why the conventional wisdom advises against finalizing and/or signing contracts on deals during Mercury retrograde. An exception might be supported if you are REnegotiating or RElocating. If you absolutely must close a deal, triple check everything. The key is not to RUSH.

This is a good time to schedule a corporate REtreat. Any activity that affords the opportunity to REview past performance is encouraged. REsearch on a new strategy is also favored.

Mercury retrogrades are not favored for launching a new website or a new communications systems. There is a higher than average probability of technical glitches and confusion.

In general, adopt a playful attitude of flexibility to whatever twists you encounter. Avoid making major purchases (especially electronic ones). Don’t believe everything you hear or read in the papers. Rumors have a higher probability of spreading during Mercury retrogrades. Avoid losing patience — that’s a big one.

When in doubt, be silent!

Do plan on RElaxing, REviewing, REsearching, REorganizing, REgenerating, REconnecting and REcreating….and REviewing your life with your astrologer.

Wherever 11 – 27 degrees of Scorpio falls in your horoscope is the area of your life that is subject to REview and REorganization. If you’d like personal insights on how this is likely to manifest in your own horoscope, toss $44 into my Cosmic Tip Jar (the link is at the bottom of this email), and send me your birth date, time and place using this contact form. I will email you a copy of your horoscope and a few paragraphs of observations.

At 27 Scorpio, this week of Mercury’s FOCUS on that degree may recall (in the news) stories that were brought to light in the aftermath of the May 18th  Full Moon in Scorpio — here’s the post about that, including the Sabian Symbol for 27 Scorpio: “the king of the fairies approaching his domain.” A king, eh? More to come on the world’s fearless leaders in this Mercury Rx, it would seem.

The week goes like this:

  • TUESDAY: Scorpio Moon will be void between 1:34 PM ET and 5:58 PM ET. Roll with the twists and flakes that may disrupt efforts to walk forward in a straight line. Remember that crises that crop up are likely much ado about nothing. Chill! Once the Moon soars into Sagittarius at 5:58 PM ET, you are free to push boundaries with enthusiasm (double checking travel schedules because Mercury retrograde on Thursday), take a walk in nature or a see a foreign film; engage in a spirited debate (but triple checking emails before hitting “send”).
  • WEDNESDAY:   More Moon in Sag. Mercury meets up with Venus in Scorpio at 6:04 PM ET, looking for a romantic or artsy ideal. The Moon’s square to wiggy Neptune at 9:50 PM ET reinforces those rose-colored glasses.
  • THURSDAY:  Happy Halloween! Sag Moon will be void between 10:29 AM ET and 10:38 PM ET. Chill, chill, chill! Mercury turns retrograde at 11:42 AM ET — how will the expected twist/snafu be seen in the headlines (because it will!).  The Moon goes void on a meet-up with Jupiter, starting the day with a lift…and apparently (this just in), a vote on the House floor to “formalize procedures for the next phase of the impeachment process to ensure clarity and transparency.”
  • FRIDAY: Moon gets down to business in Capricorn, supported by easy aspects from planets suggesting friends and leaders. At 4;25 PM ET, Venus is released from her Scorpio prison and enters Sagittarius, bouncing through the Hundred Acres Woods like Tigger. Fun fact: that Wikipedia article I just linked says: “Tigger‘s birthday is believed to be in October 1928, the year The House at Pooh Corner was first published. However, on Tigger-related merchandise, Disney often indicates Tigger’s birthyear is in December 1968, a reference to the first year Tigger appeared in a Disney production, Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day.””  Perhaps Disney is right. In any event, Venus in Sagittarius suggests fiery opinions will be all the rage until November 26th. The Sagittarius need for blunt honesty combined with its improvisational nature has resulted in many a case of foot-in-mouth disease. Combined with Mercury’s retrograde, November may be exceptionally entertaining — at someone else’s expense.
  • SATURDAY: Moon in Capricorn favors practical enterprises and chores. It begins with a sobering focus reflecting the Moon’s meet-up with authoritative Saturn at 3:29 AM ET, with the silver lining being that Saturn’s focus may structure the visionary potential suggested by a harmony between Moon and Neptune at 4:35 AM ET. Any night owls working in these wee hours? Take note! The next several hours are supercharged by a clash involving the Moon and Mars at 10:11 AM ET, followed by the Moon’s weekly clash with Pluto at 1:39 PM ET. Humming in the background and suggesting strong potential for a powerful release of energy in matters involving men, sports, guns and other brutal efforts is a square (tension) between Mars and Pluto, exact next  TUESDAY.
  • SUNDAY: Moon goes void at 1:46 AM ET and enters Aquarius at 6:19 AM ET. Aquarius is seeking to be appreciated for its uniqueness and social significance in a group dynamic. Hang with your friends and note the potential for a surprise around 2:50 PM ET, when Moon squares rebel Uranus.

And now, the news.

Fascinating example of the potential for shocks involving disruptions and unconventional leaders (Sun opposing Uranus), with a layer of witchy-bitchy social expression suggested by Mercury and Venus meeting up in deep, dark Scorpio. Freshman Congresswoman Katie Hill (D-CA) resigned over the weekend, after a foreign tabloid paper published intimate photos of Ms. Hill with a staff aide (who was apparently in a a “throuple” relationship with Hill and her soon-to-be ex-husband). Ms. Hill is the first openly bisexual person to be elected to Congress; her ex’s actions are being called “revenge porn,” which is illegal in California. We don’t have a birth time for Ms. Hill, but patterns in her horoscope (birthdate is August 25, 1987 in Abilene, TX) show that Jupiter (expansion) is activating her natal Uranus (shocks, unconventional expressions, freedom).

In other news…

I slept through my alarm on Sunday — not unusual for a day with a 12-hour long Moon void. Therefore I missed P45’s 9:17 AM ET announcement of the very big something that happened after he got back from the golf course that afternoon, but it turned out that many journalists got the word out hours before 9 AM ET.  Not surprisingly, given how we were looking at planetary patterns for the last week of October months and months ago, the “big something” involved the military, warfare and a disruption involving a head of state. It was also a big something that P45 was no doubt hoping would be seen as a big positive to anyone looking at him (see last post discussion P45’s horoscope for this time). However, the success of the “big something” — which turned out to be a clandestine (dead Moon!) U.S. military raid in Syria (resulting in the reported suicide of Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi) — reportedly happened in spite of P45’s efforts, not because of him.

UPDATE: on California, whose rectified horoscope appears to be functioning as designed. “Rectified” means that the time of California’s “birth” is uncertain, but an astrologer has made an effort to determine it. You can see and read about the California horoscope here. Note that a pattern suggesting “surefire
intense effort in the face of potential destruction” will be exact in December. Now and through November, combustible Mars is activating several planets California’s chart, as is disruptive Uranus (as it opposes California’s rectified Scorpio Moon and Ascendant). Headlines were ablaze this morning with news of more fires, evacuations and power outages affecting heavily-populated areas in Northern and Southern California. Dear Avid Readers in the Golden State, may you stay safe and sound during these challenging times. Praying for rain!

This just in…the S & P 500 just hit a new record high — surprise, surprise . It’s interesting to see such expansion and optimism, now that the contraction suggested by the squeeze of transiting Saturn squaring the U.S. Saturn is in the rear view mirror. Are there any signs of expansion in the U.S. horoscope? Yes! On the 26th, transiting Jupiter (expansion) met up with the U.S. Neptune (faith, illusion, intangibles) for the third time. Believe, believe, believe! I wonder if we will see another boost in December, when transiting Jupiter opposes the U.S. Venus and Jupiter. We’ll have to wait and see.

What’s going on in your horoscope? Are you scheduled for a boost or a contraction? Here’s the 411 on consultations.

Thank you for reading this forecast – -and sharing it with other interested parties. I love referrals.

Monday 4/10/2017: Sneak Peek at the Week; Mercury Retrograde Survival Guide; Full Moon Alert; News, News & More News

…and we’re off to the races again…but this week, slooooooow down! As you know, Mercury turn retrograde at  7:15 PM ET on Sunday, backtracking through early Taurus and late Aries.  There are plenty of great things you can accomplish during a Mercury retrograde, like REview and REvise your website or your business plan…or REconnect with people you haven’t seen in years. Here’s your strategy for the next few weeks:

Even if you know nothing else about astrology, you may have heard the term “Mercury retrograde” before. Often it’s accompanied by curses and groans, and that’s a shame. Yes, all of the flights on American Airlines might be grounded because of a computer glitch. Or the entire country of Finland might be offline because there’s a transportation strike. Or some trickster might set off all the tornado warning alarms in Dallas — that actually happened yesterday. But there’s much good that can be accomplished when the Messenger Planet appears to be retracing its steps.

Mercury—which in the language of astrology refers to mindset, travel and communication—will appear to move backward through the sky until May 3rd.

REvisions, however, are A-OK.

So do take it easy on Monday, on a day driven by the Moon in people-pleasing Libra. As much as Libra seeks balance, fairness and harmony, the patterns leading up to the Full Moon — exact at 2:08 AM ET on TUESDAY — suggest anything but. A literally jovial contact between Jupiter and the Moon at 6:58 PM ET heightens emotions and builds to a possible power play at 9:54 PM ET, when the Moon is challenged by Pluto.

After the Full Moon face-off against the me-me-me Aries Sun, balance and harmony may be further disrupted by another face-off between the Moon and rebel Uranus at 7:31 AM ET. Yes, it’s that weekly clash among Moon, Pluto and Uranus — augmented through the summer by Jupiter’s expansive influence. Not only that, but this Full Moon also connects with Eris. You may remember that Eris symbolizes those who may stop at nothing to secure a place at the table, having previously been dissed. In mythology Eris is the goddess of discord — perhaps a feminine counterpart to Mars.  It’s an apt time to be a warrior woman, with the following caveat to those who would get in a warrior woman’s way: “Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.”

But wait — there’s more. While the Libra Moon is disrupted by Eris, the warrior Aries Sun joins forces with Uranus at 1:29AM ET on FRIDAY. This is the other shoe dropping after the first one fell last week. We have been tracking these quarterly clashes among the Sun and the Uranus-Pluto square since 2012. Here’s a sample from 2016.

Other than Friday’s Sun-Uranus meet-up, there are no other exact aspects among the planets except to the Moon this week. In these apparent “empty spaces,” there is room for much to fall, in the way that a giant chunk of ice breaks off an Arctic shelf and crumbles into the sea, as if no one saw it coming.

And now, the news.

Let the record show that the Full Moon at 21 Libra-Aries will challenge P45’s Venus and Saturn in Cancer. You can’t say that this man doesn’t value family ties. It is fascinating to note that Stephen K. Bannon’s natal Uranus hits P45’s Venus and Saturn. It’s a disruptive influence on P45’s family ties, no? How interesting that during this current Venus retrograde — when social graces fly out the window and you can’t help but tell people how you really feel — a blow-up between P45’s son-in-law (Jared Kushner) and Bannon made headlines. Was their effort to “bury the hatchet” a success? Given what is known about the latter’s horoscope, let’s see what happens in mid-May and mid-June.

Back to P45. We’ve established that this Full Moon hits his unique horoscope.  Transiting Mars (the energy of action) will also make contact with planets and angles in his horoscope on April 13th, 16th and 21st. Do you know when Mars is scheduled to hit your Mars and your angles? You really should and I can tell you! When Mars hits these sensitive points we see increased potential for outbursts of energy: anger, assertive, accidents. I had a field day tracking Mars in the horoscopes of headline newsmakers last March.

So P45 is likely to be feeling provocative and provoked this week. Not only that, but he’s likely feeling expansive, thanks to the second hit of his Jupiter return at 17 degrees of Libra. Talk about luck! But there’s a wild card factor to the expansive action potential, given that rebel Uranus is also hot in his chart, especially on April 5th and 20th. Keep that in mind when watching the news.

Meanwhile…

It’s not just the U.S. seemingly falling apart. South Africa has its own political crisis, with massive demonstrations last week calling for President Jacob Zuma to step down. Thousands are marching against the socialist government in Venezuela.  There were “unauthorized” protests in Russia, too — earlier this month. France is facing its own potentially volatile elections on April 23rd and in May. In Alabama, the scandal-plagued governor  — Robert Bentley — is finally facing impeachment hearings. Papers were filed a year ago.

In the non-political arena, I see many stories reflecting the women of steel/no mercy potential of the Pattern of the Month: Saturn square Venus. Google stands accused of extreme pay discrimination against women.  Conservative pundit Tomi Lahren is suing Glenn Beck for wrongful termination, saying she was fired because of pro-choice remarks she made. I was not familiar with the 20-something Ms. Lahren until I saw a clip of her being interviewed on the Daily Show.

On the other hand, women in British Columbia can no longer be required to wear high heels at the office — and this isn’t the only place in the world where this is a subject of debate. I will bet fifty cents that Fox News requires its women on-air talent to wear heels, and that it is not the only broadcast network with that policy.

In other news…

In a horoscope, when Uranus (lightning in a bottle) makes contact with cosmic sugar daddy Jupiter, sudden windfalls are more likely. When Uranus makes contact with Venus, we see the potential for disruptive revelations in relationships and matters of worth. That is what is going on in Bill O’Reilly’s horoscope, as we are learning about the $13 million in fees paid to five women who accused O’Reilly of sexual harassment over the years — with more accusations made in recent days. The settlement fees were paid by Fox — his employer. Dear Avid Reader, has your employer done as much for you?

I wrote about O’Reilly back in early 2015, as well as Brian Williams — who also raised eyebrows last week (Williams is still gushing over guns).  While advertisers are ditching the O’Reilly Factor in droves, O’Reilly’s book on hahahahahahaha family values is an instant bestseller and his ratings are through the roof. Did you know that April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month?

Here is Alec Baldwin, portraying O’Reilly and P45 over the weekend on SNL. Mr. Baldwin is also on a roll…as predicted earlier this year.

Friday’s story about the girl in India who was reportedly being raised by monkeys felt so off to me — and not at all in tune with the harshness of planetary patterns — so I did not mention it. Now it turns out that she is not believed to have been raised by monkeys. She is believed to be disabled and was likely abandoned by her family. Right. That is harsh. Fits the patterns.

Add harshness and ambition to the power and resources suggested by Saturday’s Sun-Pluto meet-up, and you might see an in-depth NYT article about how the rise of solar power is killing jobs in the U.S. (because China has taken the lead in developing renewable energy). Meanwhile, solar power broke the 50% threshold in California last week, pushing prices into the negative. Wow!

And last but not least, meet John Goodenough, an inventor who revolutionized battery technology decades ago. Now he’s done it again. His latest patent is for a battery that is so effective it make electric cars ridiculously affordable and efficient, killing off the need for petroleum-fueled cars. Mr. Goodenough is 94 years old. So if you think you’ve done everything possible in life — don’t be ridiculous. You’ve got years ahead of you! And yes, yes, YES…we see the potential for Mr. Goodenough’s scientific genius and empowerment in his horoscope at this time.

When will your genius potential break out? What’s going on in your horoscope? Here’s the 411 on consultations.

Thank you for reading this forecast and sharing it with your friends. You have awesome friends, and I know this because they consult with me when you share these posts. And this enables me to  keep on posting, posting, posting…cue the Cosmic Tip Jar now, please….with much gratitude for your appreciation.

Astro-logical Forecast for Monday 8/29/2016: Sneak Peek at the Week; Mercury Retrograde Survival Guide

Good Morning!

The work week begins — for those who haven’t headed to the beach for the last week of August — with the Moon in rip, roarin’ Leo. Find a way to shine — and help others, shine, too. Party on, dudes! Make way for drama kings and queens!

The Leo Moon cruises without much interference for the next three days. If you’re feeling emotionally buffeted, you can’t blame it on the ups and downs of tense aspects from other planets to the Moon. You can take advantage of a steady flow of lunar energy driving the day and work without distraction. Or play to your heart’s content if you are beaching it.

Venus leaves Virgo for Libra — one of her home signs — at 10:07PM ET. This is generally a happy occasion, as the planet referring to social expression, women, art and money is well-supported by Libra’s people-pleasing need for beauty and balance. It facilitates being less of a Venus in Virgo critic, more of a diplomat with social graces. At 0 Libra, Avid Readers will note that Venus is thus at the Aries Point, so we can expect matters of women, money, values, beauty to be especially prominent for the next day or so — with a spin on what is fair and just — or just right (for stories crossing the wires with Virgo at the very end of Virgo).

Re: “just right” — here’s an apt piece on how women aren’t buying from certain retailers who persist in offering bad clothes.  Here’s one about a woman in Australia making headlines for replacing her mugshot with a more flattering photo. Really, why is this making news NOW?

Tomorrow at 9:04AM ET, Mercury turns retrograde at 9:04AM ET — here is your Mercury retrograde survival guide:

Even if you know nothing else about astrology, you may have heard this term before. Often it’s accompanied by curses and groans, and that’s a shame. Yes, all of the flights on American Airlines might be grounded because of a computer glitch. Or the entire country of Finland might be offline because there’s a transportation strike (actual Mercury Rx events). But there’s much good that can be accomplished when the Messenger Planet appears to be retracing its steps.

Mercury—which in the language of astrology refers to mindset, travel and communication—will appear to move backward through the sky until September 22nd.

This Mercury retrograde happens at 29 degrees of Virgo, suggesting that whatever is up for REview and RElaxation likely involves discerning analysis about an issue’s practical service and cooperation. If you have a planet or angle around 29 degrees of Gemini, Pisces, Sagittarius and especially Virgo, you are more personally affected by this particular Mercury retrograde. If you don’t have a planet on those degrees, find out what house in your horoscope 14-29 Virgo falls. That’s is the area of your life now up for REview.

As I have written in prior forecasts, the end of this week features a New Moon in a tense pattern with Saturn (real) and Neptune (unreal), similar to what we experienced the first week of June. Except this New Moon (in Virgo) will be an eclipse. There is no need to run screaming down the halls. More on that later this week.

Your Moon voids for the week: Wednesday 12:20AM ET until 11:22AM ET; Friday 6:13PM ET until 8:55PM ET. Sunday has a long one: 8:30PM ET until 8:38AM ET — but shouldn’t be too challenging for folks in the Americas. Moon voids — during which the Moon wanders without much focus — are apt for taking care of routine matters — and rolling serenely with whatever twists and flakes may derail efforts to move forward in a straight line.

I leave you with this image of senseless beauty, suitable for Venus at the Aries Point — on its way into lovely Libra. I buy these wildflowers for five bucks at the local farmers market — a fresh bouquet each week.  They remind me of summers spent in Maine during my childhood. Much gratitude to Avid Readers Diane, Earleen, Teri and others, whose combined efforts enabled this month’s flower fix. When I gaze at these flowers, I think of you. Too pretty to keep to myself — may their beauty brighten your day! UPDATE: Here’s a link to the Flower Fund, since an Avid Reader kindly asked. More gratitude!

Thank you for reading this forecast.

Astro-logical Forecast for Wednesday 10/21/2015: Opportunity Knocks in a Horoscope

Allll-righty then!

Wednesday’s drive is brought to you by the Moon in humanitarian Aquarius, looking for a way to be appreciated for being such a good buddy to so many people, especially those on the fringe. It travels without much interference, boosted by an easy connection to mental Mercury at 6:11PM ET. You wanna talk about it rationally, with emotional detachment? Go for it. Because on Thursday at 5:20PM ET, Mercury will be challenged by ruthless Pluto, adding a mental catharsis or investigative power play to the mix. What news from underground will be added to what has already been uncovered this week?

And now, the news.

Monday’s election in Canada did result in a surprise upset, unless you’ve been reading this forecast regularly. If so, you were not surprised at all that Stephen Harper’s Conservative Party was soundly defeated by the opposition, and that Justin Trudeau will be Canada’s new prime minister. Astrology is amazing. And Mr. Harper’s lean, mean thinking machine of Mercury (mindset)-Saturn in Capricorn (conservative; authority)-Mars in Cancer (assertive homeland security needs) in a unsettling T-square pattern is out of a job. And Canada is out of Syria and Iraq.

Comedian John Oliver must be delighted, because he was hoping for an upset, too. It’s against the law in Canada for an outsider to tell a Canadian how to vote, but Mr. Oliver did it anyway. I wish I’d seen his informative and highly entertaining take on the three — (yes, there were three major contenders in the Canadian election), before I emailed Monday’s forecast to subscribers, but here it is now — just for them.  Watch and laugh uproariously…and experience the bewildering fog so notable in Canada’s horoscope (Neptune conjunct Ascendant), Stephen Harper’s(Sun opposite Neptune) and Justin Trudeau’s (Neptune opposing Saturn  — both square Ascendant). What a weird (Neptune), wacky (Canada’s Sun is conjunct Uranus). fiercely independent country it is, astro-logically speaking…

UPDATE: A few days ago I noted that we could expect supercharged action (and now, apparently disrupted ambition) from former Democratic presidential candidate Jim Webb, given patterns of stress in his horoscope. Today he bowed out as a Democratic contender…but hasn’t given up the idea of running as an Independent.

UPDATE: Paul Ryan’s horoscope has assertive and potentially expansive patterns involving his career for the next several days (not unlike VP Joe Biden). He reportedly took a meeting Tuesday to discuss running for House Speaker. No surprise, even if he did so reluctantly. Meanwhile, Harry Reid (D-NV) just endorsed him. And right this minute — 8:13PM ET — the NYT reports breaking news that yes, Mr. Ryan is willing to run for Speaker, if his party can get its act together. This comes less than two days before we see transiting Mars (action!) hitting his Midheaven (public status; career). Jeb Bush announced his campaign launch on a similar transit. Joe Biden will have this same transit exact on October 27th. You’re not surprised about any of this, either, being Avid Readers.

UPDATE:  My  world-famous 2016 Really Useful Mercury Retrograde Survival Guide Bookmarks are still available, and the number of times this link has been clicked compared to the number of actual requests received has me all confused. But perhaps you are confused by the ordering process. Please let me know if that is the case! Here’s what you do: just click this link.   It will take you to a lovely page with a gold DONATE button. Click on that gold button. It will take you to a PayPal page, which is how I am able to receive funds — unless you’d like to send me a check.

To help cover postage, lovely card stock for handwritten thank you notes and printing costs, I am asking $2.88 for one bookmark or $4.99 for three. Trust that they are beautifully designed. Really — would I send you anything that wasn’t? On the bookmark you’ll find the dates of 2016’s Mercury retrograde periods — there are FOUR of ’em. You’ll also find helpful reminders of how to handle the retrograde so you do not lose your mind. I am thrilled that many of you have ordered bookmarks for others, including Avid Reader Jane:

I would like to find out how much it would cost to get 10 Mercury retrograde bookmarks – I am so tired of my idiot friends who don’t get it, they just know something is off. To have your bookmark on hand to give them is the best idea ever.

My thoughts exactly. Make sure you include your snail mail address when you make your bookmark donation, as opposed to relying on telepathy.

OK, more news.

The lingering artsy idealism of Venus opposing Neptune! The enormous physical effort and optimism of last week’s Mars-Jupiter trine Pluto! A make-it-happen empire-friendly Moon in Capricorn during Monday Night Football….and why not air the trailer for STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS? The movie opens on Christmas Day. It will be a HUGE ENTERPRISE.

And while we’re on such a sci-fi bent, here’s a story about Back to the Future II, in which hero Marty McFly travels forward in time to October 21, 2015 — that’s today! What did the filmmakers get right when they imagined how things might be now back in 1989?

Finally, a healthcare PSA because helpful Aquarius Moon. If you’re a woman, the American Cancer Society now thinks you should have mammograms less often.

But wait! Don’t forget to grab a few bookmarks! Or if you’d really like to be thoroughly informed, consider booking a personal consultation. Just think how much easier it could be for Paul Ryan to make his career decisions if he was aware of the cycles of timing in his horoscope. He’d be far less stressed, I’m sure…

Thank you for reading this forecast.

Astro-logical Forecast for Friday 10/16 & the Weekend: Righteous, High-Flying & Rose-Colored

TGIF!

Moon will leave the intensity of Scorpio as of 5:18AM ET Friday — with a fiery sigh of relief. In high-flying Sagittarius, it’s looking to push boundaries and express its righteous opinion —  whether you asked for it or not. What hits the wires around 10AM ET may be weightier than usual, courtesy of a Moon-Saturn meet-up, with plenty to talk about around 3:15PM ET, as the Moon makes an easy connection to mental Mercury.

Your Friday night happy hour looks good for indulgence and escape, as the Moon square Venus and Neptune.  The whole evening is dominated by a dreamy face-off between Venus (money, women, aesthetics, social expression) in Virgo and visionary/delusional Neptune at 10:54PM ET. Think big, think beauty, think perfect…down to the last detail. Why big?  Because of a meet-up between expansive Jupiter and assertive Mars in Virgo at 6:40PM ET on Saturday, perhaps pushing physical boundaries even further than the usual exuberance that accompanies a weekend with Moon in Sagittarius.  Go for a good gamble or gambol. Broaden your mind. Get out in nature. Treat yourself to a foreign movie or some other culture that is not your own.

There’s no Moon void to discourage your purchasing power on Saturday. On Sunday the Moon will be void between 4:48AM ET and 2:52PM ET, perfect for sleeping in, chilling out — or experiencing an upset victory or twist in a sports match. After that, the Moon gets down to business when it enters Capricorn, looking for an empire to build. The enterprising Capricorn energy continues through all of Monday and much of Tuesday, so no sleeping in.

And now, the news.

Oh wait — but first, this. I received the nicest email today about my world-famous Really Useful Mercury Retrograde Survival Guide Bookmarks! Much gratitude to Avid Reader Bonnie, who says:

That bookmark was awesome. I kept it in my datebook and referred to it many, many times during the retrogrades :)

Bonnie’s three 2016 bookmarks are now in the mail, and yours can be, too.  Last year I mailed out a zillion gratis. This year I’m asking for your help to cover costs. I will happily send you one for $2.88 or three for $4.99, along with a personalized note of thanks for your interest in this forecast. Huzzah!

OK, now the news.

Did you watch the debates on Tuesday? What did you think? Hillary did well, and now op-ed columnists for the New York Times are being paid to comment on what you already anticipated would happen. How can I get one of those gigs? Not that I do not love Gail Collins (here’s her take), but geez…

Bernie Sanders also did well, as anticipated — and bigger than Mrs. Clinton,  according to seemingly every source that was not the mainstream media. What’s up with that? Here’s the theory.

Martin O’Malley had that Moon in Scorpio stare — very intense. He sparked, as we’d expect he would with that Sun-Uranus thing going on in his horoscope. He’ll spark again in a couple of years, when his Capricorn Sun has another hit from rebel Uranus.

Jim Webb. He has a natal meet-up between Mars (action) and Saturn (discipline) in Cancer, potentially expressing homeland security needs in a militant/military manner. That pattern is currently being supercharged by Uranus (to his Saturn) and Pluto (to his Mars), and I was waiting to see how it would manifest. The moment came when he answered the question about enemies he had made, and he cited an encounter with a North Vietnamese soldier (Webb fought in the Vietnam War), noting that the soldier was no longer around. You can imagine why…and Mr. Webb’s remark did not go unnoticed.  Here’s how the Washington Post covered it. Fascinating, isn’t it?

Planetary patterns this week — detailed in Monday’s forecast — suggest athletics and fantasy. We’ve seen some wild play-off games in major league baseball, including one that is going on now, in a long and intense Moon void in Scorpio. Will there be an upset to report tomorrow in tonight’s battle between the “upstart Mets” and the “star-driven Dodgers”?

Fantasy sports are still making headlines — now banned in Nevada. Even former Lakers’ forward Lamar Odom’s tragic story reflects the bewildering downside of current patterns. Mr. Odom was found unconsciousness in a Nevada brothel and is still in a coma; drugs were reportedly involved. You may recall he was married briefly to one of the Kardashians.  Here is his noon horoscope. You can see how strong Neptune is in his natal chart and by transit over the past several years. Right now we note transiting Saturn — a big reality check — making contact with other planets — and in contrast with other transits involving expansive, potentially wretchedly excessive Jupiter. Very sobering and sad.

Health care is making big news this week, too. With Mars (action) and Jupiter (expansion) in Virgo (healthcare) — both in touch with Pluto (resources) — Medicare premiums are set to “surge”.  Unless Congress decides to be more generous. Which it may, as Venus meets up with Jupiter on October 25th.

Finally, an update on former Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert, who made scandalous headlines  during another heavy Neptune period back in May. You may remember he was accused of  paying hush money  to quash allegations of sexual misconduct involving one of his students when he was a high school teacher and coach.  Now he will apparently plead guilty to at least some of the charges.  In May it was noted in this forecast (see preceding link), that Mr. Hastert has Mercury at 18 Capricorn, recently squared by transiting Uranus at 18 Aries. Uranus transits often coincide with sudden revelations.

You may recall that almost-House Speaker Kevin McCarthy also has Mercury (and Venus) at 18 Capricorn. His bid to become Speaker was derailed last week — suddenly — by certain revelations, too — remember? Isn’t astrology amazing?

Now don’t forget to order your Really Useful Mercury Rx Survival Guide Bookmarks here: $2.88 for 1; $4.99 for 3 — and please don’t forget to email me your snail mail address. These are not virtual bookmarks — they are REAL!

Thank you for reading this forecast. Wishing you an exuberantly righteous Moon in Sagittarius weekend!

Astro-logical Forecast for Wednesday & Thursday 10/14-15/2015: Sneak Peek at Tuesday’s Democratic Debate

Posting Wednesday’s forecast earlier than usual so as to share a few thoughts about Tuesday’s Democratic debate. Right now the Libra Moon is void. It enters Scorpio at 5:38PM ET.

First, for Wednesday. Put the Scorpio Moon to good use. It’s strategically-minded, and is interested in more than the usual fluffy cocktail party chit-chat. Use its need for depth, along with the cooperative support from detail-focused Mars (assertion), Pluto (power; perspective) and Jupiter (expansion), to carry you through the business day. All of those supportive connections are boosted even more by an easy flow between action hero Mars and Pluto, exact Thursday at 11:31PM ET. Perhaps you have more energy and resources than you thought. Access them. What have you got to lose?

At 8:58PM ET on Wednesday, the Moon goes void until 5:18AM ET on FRIDAY. So if you want to hit your target on the first try, Wednesday’s patterns are more focused than Thursday, when the Moon void suggests a higher probability of twists, flakes and upsets in your efforts to move forward in a straight line. During Moon voids you may need an extra push to get you going anywhere…and there is an higher than average potential for crises which turn out to be much ado about nothing. Keep that in mind if a house on fire lands on your desk. Chill and go with the flow.

Tuesday’s debate.

Before I get to that, I’m pleased to report that the 2016 Really Useful Mercury Retrograde Survival Guide bookmarks are in! Get one and you’ll always know when Mercury is retrograde, along with key Important Safety Tips. Last year I mailed out a zillion of these, and I so enjoyed connecting with you. This year I’m asking for your help to cover costs. I will happily send you one for $2.88 or three for $4.99, along with a personalized note of thanks for your interest in this forecast.

OK, now the debate.

It’s interesting that CNN changed the start time from 9PM to 8:30PM ET — or rather, from 6PM PT to 5:30PM PT (this debate is happening in Las Vegas — ?!?). Perhaps that accounts for the flashing neon alert of Neptune opposing Venus, Mars and Jupiter in the event chart, suggesting more than a little razzle-dazzle vision and pixie-dusted fog. It’s politics and it’s showbiz.

With Aries rising, Mars in Virgo rules the debate chart — and we’ve already discussed how resourceful and empowered the energy of assertion is this week, down to the last Mars in Virgo perfect detail. Mars also refers to guns. Perhaps that will be one of the hot topics. Just before and after 6PM PT — 9PM ET, rebel Uranus and ruthless Pluto will cross the angles of the chart, so I’ll be looking for an especially impactful zinger or two around then.

Sun and Moon are in the 7th — looking to connect with the public. The Scorpio Moon might prefer uncompromising intensity, based on emotional depth. The Libra Sun might prefer a more rational, diplomatic approach, seeking to find a balance. How will the performers in this event work those preferences out?

Jupiter, Mars and Venus are together in Virgo in the 6th House, facilitating discussion of work, labor unions, health care, ecology and food production. Crushing debt — related to education: Saturn in Sagittarius in the 8th. Help those less fortunate, including those who were not born here: Neptune in Pisces in the 12th square Saturn in Sagittarius. Change the power structure of corporations and the government: Pluto in Capricorn in the 10th. Free to be….you and me: Uranus in Aries in the 1st.

Many astrologers use 8:02AM as Hillary Clinton’s birth time, which gives her a Scorpio Ascendant to match her Scorpio Sun.  Her Moon is in Pisces, suggesting intuition, compassion and a profound understanding of human suffering. Transiting Venus is just about to hit her Virgo Midheaven, suggesting an uptick in popularity. Jupiter is in her 10th house, along with assertive Mars — all good for poll numbers, though ’tis a pity the esact Jupiter transit to her Midheaven has already passed. Her Scorpio Sun is comfortable with the intensity of the debate’s Scorpio Moon; in fact the Moon will be conjoining her Sun tonight, suggesting a potential fresh start.

We don’t have a verified birth time for Bernie Sanders, either. I did see one rectification effort proposing a Scorpio Ascendant, like Mrs. Clinton. Thus he’d benefit from having Jupiter, Mars and Venus at the top of his chart, too. Even better — and longer lasting than a quick hit to the Midheaven by Venus: 1) transiting Jupiter meeting up with his 15 Virgo Sun and transiting Uranus likely meeting up with his pioneering me-me-me Aries Moon…AND his Venus in Libra-Mars in Aries opposition. This is a horoscope on fire with initiating drive, passion and social expression. It’s why I opined a few months ago that he is likely to be a significant player in this presidential race. These transits will continue well into 2016.

To me it seems that Mrs. Clinton will do well, and that Mr. Sanders will do well, too…but bigger.

You know who else has a career-boosting transit continuing into 2016? Joe Biden, whose horoscope has been discussed several times before: here in 2012; here in 2014; here several weeks ago. The Vice President’s Midheaven is 19 Virgo, and Jupiter will be sitting on it for the first of three passes on November 21 — and again in February and July. Before that happens, transiting Saturn will conjoin Mr. Biden’s 3 degrees Sagittarius Ascendant on October 23, just days before Mars (action!) conjoins his Midheaven (career) on October 27th.  That’s a time period to watch. Does he really want to toss his hat into the ring? I don’t know. I am not a psychic; I’m an astrologer. Does Rep. Paul Ryan really want to run for House Speaker? These two men are experiencing similar Saturn-Jupiter transits — as noted in yesterday’s forecast. This suggests a certain opportunity. Isn’t that interesting?

Other candidates: Lincoln Chafee — noted here earlier — Aries Sun; Moon in Leo — ambition perhaps sparked by transiting Saturn earlier this year — we don’t have a birth time. Aries Sun long past potential for being supercharged by Uranus-Pluto, despite fighting spirit likely to kick in around December. Said Sun is at 5 Aries, like Rep. Jason Chaffetz (discussed last week), and was recently eclipsed. Hmmm.

Martin O’Malley — 12p horoscope here — unknown birth time — Capricorn Sun  — Moon in substance-seeking Scorpio nowhere near Saturn’s push. What we do see is an intense Sun-Uranus measurement suggesting need to break out of the pack; to disrupt the status quo. It peaks this month, and there’s nothing much else to report unless he’s got something seriously exciting going on with the angles of his horoscope, which we do not know. With Saturn in Aquarius and Jupiter in Pisces, this suggests compassion that needs to help. He has the Uranus-Pluto conjunction of the mid-60s in his horoscope — the spark of a revolution.

Jim Webb — Feb 9 1946 in St Joseph MO — no birth time. Idealistic Sun in humanitarian Aquarius; Moon in either late Taurus or early Gemini. Does he project material comfort and security or does he need to be the smartest kid in the room? That’ll be a clue. Late Taurus would have been pushed to act by transiting Saturn. Early Gemini might be under the visionary spell of transiting Neptune. Lots of Air — mental, verbal energy – in his horoscope, regardless. His Mars at 15 Cancer has been sparked by transiting Uranus (taking a risk; impulsive action) and will continue to be supercharged by transiting Pluto into next year.

In other news, on this verrrrrrrry slow Moon void news day, it was announced that Playboy magazine will no longer be publishing photos of naked women. How interesting to read this disruption of the status quo 1) days after the second hit of transiting Uranus to Mr. Hefner’s Aries Sun; and 2) hours after last night’s New Moon, which also conjoined Mr. Hefner’s Aries Sun. Not to mention current transits among Venus (women, aesthetics), Saturn (controls, business) and Neptune (ideals, photography), suggesting all of those themes in parentheses.

Elsewhere, beer is making big business news, reflecting so much Neptune (spirits) and Jupiter-Pluto (power & resources). So is music — also Neptune.

What is going on in your horoscope? Now is the time to find out. Here’s how to schedule a personal consultation, in which we will have an enlightening and useful discussion together.

Thank you for reading this forecast.

Astro-logical Forecast for Tuesday 11/25/2014: Heavy, Man

A fleeting upset or power play….or a flash of insight may rattle your morning, as the enterprising Capricorn Moon makes its weekly clash with Pluto and Uranus at 7:54AM and 9:25AM ET, respectively.  Go about your business for the rest of the day, noting the potential for a weighty focus as the evening progresses, courtesy of the annual meet-up of mental Mercury with controlling Saturn in equally controlling Scorpio. If you have a planet or angle around 27 degrees of Scorpio, that’s where you’re feeling the ambitious reach, sobering reality check or gravitas. Consult your local astrologer for details.

As noted yesterday, mind and communication are front and center this week, in ways that may be expansive, heavy and bewildering — possibly all at the same time. Thus it was fun to read Beth Owlsdaughter’s Tarot Card of the Week yesterday and marvel once again at the synchronicity of two symbolic languages: astrology and Tarot.

And speaking of communication, after my effort yesterday to make it absolutely clear how you can receive your very own Really Useful Mercury Retrograde Survival Guide Bookmark (2015 edition), I felt like the Lord of Swamp Castle. If you’d like a bookmark, type your MAILING ADDRESS in the  Message Box, you’ll find by going here. I do not need your birth data in order to send you a bookmark, and that’s the last you’ll hear about bookmarks  for at the next several days.

Thank you for reading this forecast and sharing it with your friends.
