Allllllll-righty then!
The work week begins with the Moon still in perfection-seeking Virgo, supporting your efforts to sort, analyze, organize and prioritize your to-do list. At 1:16PM ET, Moon goes void on a supportive connection with taskmaster Saturn, helping you consolidate your plans. What is a void-of-course Moon? Details are here. In today’s case, the Moon makes contact with Saturn and then drifts through Virgo without making contact with another planet. Then Moon enters Libra at 4:23PM ET, officially engaging in the new gear suggested by the new sign — and thus ending the void.
It’s good to know when the Moon is void. You’re less likely to be thrown off kilter by any delays, twists or other “crises” that may crop up in your efforts to move forward in a straight line. Voids are good for chilling out and taking care of routine matters. Once the Moon enters Libra, see if you notice a more engaged focus, especially in the areas of diplomacy, cerebral debate, balance and fairness in relationships. These are Libra concerns, and you may see them on your plate through Wednesday.
The only other Moon void during the work week begins on Wednesday at 10:56PM ET and ends at 5:24AM ET on Thursday. Plant those New Moon seeds!
Tomorrow (Tuesday), the morning is energized by an easy alignment between Moon and Mars. This is a helpful alignment that may effectively channel the dramatic action potential of Mars in Leo, which has been running wild in the cosmos for the past few days. Mars in Leo can be explosive, fiery and dramatic, “getting away with murder” and putting on quite a show. Around 7:30PM ET on Tuesday, note the potential for a power play or emotional catharsis, as the Moon is challenged by Pluto.
We have two patterns of note this week. On Wednesday at 12:44PM ET, Venus (women, art, money, social expression) will trine Uranus. A trine is an easy connection between two planets. Uranus refers to friendship and that which is unconventional, innovative, humanitarian and independent — perhaps a little rebellious. Here’s a story reflecting Venus and Uranus, along with the idealized queenly potential of the weekend’s meet-up between Venus and the Sun — both in Leo (the king/queen): “The Village Where Men Are Banned”. As for the reasons why these women have established their own community, they are symbolized by Saturn at the end of its trek through Scorpio. Saturn leaves Scorpio on September 18th, hopefully driving people who think that 1o-year-old rape victims should be forced to give birth (as one did in Paraguay over the weekend), off the front page.
The other pattern of note is a square between Saturn (limits, structure, controls) and the life-giving Leo Sun. Here are some headlines from a prior Sun-Saturn square in 2014. Here’s a bit about Huma Abedin (who has a heavy Sun-Saturn pattern in her horoscope), and what happened in her life when Saturn made contact with her Sun by transit in 2013.
Finally — here’s an interesting piece reflecting the expansion of focus on work routines suggested by Jupiter’s recent ingress into Virgo: “Inside Amazon: Wrestling Big Ideas Inside a Bruising Workplace”. Shades of this week’s heavy, work-work-work Sun-Saturn square here, too. Would you be surprised to learn that the horoscope of the United States has a Sun-Saturn square?
Meanwhile, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos has already responded to the unflattering expose. Here is his horoscope. You can see his all-business Capricorn Sun about to be disrupted by the break-out potential of transiting Uranus next year. A push for even greater independence and innovation would not be surprising. We also see the potential for a tight, disciplined and controlling social expression, suggested by Saturn and Venus together in his natal chart. In Aquarius, we can appreciate why he would need to be all things to all people. Venus in Aquarius needs to be everyone’s best friend — and they often are.
We do not have a birth time for Mr. Bezos, so we do not know his Ascendant, nor do we know for sure if his Moon is in high-flying Sagittarius or “make it happen” Capricorn. I’d have to do more research on his life, etc., etc. And why would I do that when I could spend time analyzing your horoscope, hmmm? If you have an important transit coming up, it will be helpful to know about it. Although if a friend of Mr. Bezos did happen to send him this forecast and he requested a personal consultation, I would be most happy to oblige….
Thank you for reading this forecast. It thrills me to no end that you are sharing it with your friends.
More going with the flow, suggested by Moon in dreamy Pisces. The day gets off on a sweet note, as loving Venus connects with the Moon at 8:12AM ET…and that’s the pattern that carries us through the day, until another potentially passionately expressive connection hits at 11:52PM ET, as Moon goes void of course until 1:28PM ET on Friday.
You know what that Moon void suggests: that moving in a straight line may be a challenge; unexpected twists occur in your usual routine; crises turn out to be much ado about nothing; you can sleep in late or otherwise flake out — usually without consequence.
The mood shifts dramatically on Friday, when Moon enters impulsive Aries after that void, here to stay through the whole weekend. Could be a rollicking — and definitely mentally stimulating — time. While the need to be number one may be subject to bumps, jolts and power plays as of Friday evening into Saturday afternoon, the star of the weekend is Mercury (mind, communication, travel). If you’re a writer, thinker, traveler or communicator, take advantage of the supercharge that disciplined Saturn, expansive Jupiter and inventive Uranus can give your brain cells during this time. More potential for genius is suggested as Mercury leaves Capricorn on Friday at 1:12PM ET — and moves into Aquarius, sign of the rocket scientist.
And — wow! I’ve written the forecast for the whole weekend! And that’s a good thing, because I’m off to Hogwarts — a.k.a. an astrology conference — on Friday and I need a lot of time to pack. So I’ll leave you with one more thought on people born with Mars retrograde (which we were discussing yesterday): if these people were baseball pitchers, they would probably have one of the longest wind-ups in the world. Think about that…and I’ll be back in touch on Monday.
Thanks to all of you who have shared this site with others — over 2000 views in just over two weeks — gratitude!
Friday begins with a continued charge set by the pioneering Aries Moon on Wednesday and Thursday, but likely with less bumps and jolts — ending with a sigh as the Moon goes void at 5:34PM ET. Angelenos, I hope you can skip out of town early today. If there are bumps and jolts, a control freak who running — out of control (!) — might be the source. Check to see that it isn’t you.
Moon enters stubborn, sensual, stability craving Taurus at 12:58AM ET on Saturday and is immediately challenged by the Sun in playful Leo. Bring it on! Overindulgence is a possibility today, but you’re likely to have a lot of fun indulging in your guilty pleasures all through Sunday. With a Moon void on Monday from 9:12AM to 12:34PM ET, you should have plenty of extra time to recover before the work week begins. You’ll then have four days to get things signed, sealed and delivered. Moon is void all day on Friday. Mercury is grinding to a halt (metaphorically speaking) and turns retrograde on August 2nd. Back up your computers NOW. I have learned the hard way how machines have an odd way of spazzing out under this planetary pattern.
In other news, I confess I do sometimes refrain from posting parts of this forecast. Yesterday I wrote an entire paragraph on likely continued manifestations of an obsessive connection between ruthless Pluto and aggressive Mars AND Venus (social expression, love, art, beauty). I anticipated headlines involving sex, brutality, sharp cuts involving resources or emotions and/or something nasty bubbling up to the surface from underground. I deleted it in the interest of focusing on other patterns which felt more immediately optimistic : ) For the record, however, I would like to note the following headlines: a high-end prostitution ring likely catering to Wall Street clients is busted ttp://www.cnbc.com/id/43830471–a sewage spill stinks up the Hudson River in Manhattan http://www.nytimes.com/2011/07/22/nyregion/sewage-spill-renders-new-york-harbor-unfit.html?hp X-ray (Pluto refers to radiation) body scanners are allegedly modified http://www.govtech.com/public-safety/Naked-Body-Scans-Airports-Phased-Out.html and the coal industry scores a victory against regulation http://www.truth-out.org/republicans-approve-regulation-blocking-coal-bill-alecs-wish-list/1311185463 and fracking near a Pennsylvania reservoir stuns local residents http://www.truth-out.org/fracking-drinking-water-source-80000-pennsylvanians-raises-alarms/1311168512
Ooh — one more thing. Was anyone watching the markets yesterday? (Of course not, you’re not on assignment at CNBC). But if you were watching the markets, you would have seen them rally on a breaking news headline around lunchtime: “Powers That Be Close To Deal on the Debt Ceiling.” Hooray! A miracle! Minutes later, the headline was denounced as false by wet blankets in all camps. Boooooo! The markets retreated. Why I am telling you this? Read yesterday’s forecast… : )
Have a great weekend!!
“Stubborn” and “digging in their heels” — see the forecast for 2/10 and 2/9 — as I wrote those words last night and the night before, thoughts of the situation in Egypt did cross my mind. Fascinating to see this headline on AOL: “Mubarak Isn’t Stepping Down and Protesters Are Furious” http://www.aolnews.com/2011/02/10/labor-strikes-spread-in-egypt-adding-pressure-on-hosni-mubarak/?icid=maing|aim|dl1|sec1_lnk2|43299 I took a quick glance at Mubarak’s horoscope, and wouldn’t you know it, he is a Taurus (stubbornness personified) — with apparently Moon in “need to control” Scorpio. Stubborn as he may be, his horoscope suggests tremendous pressure from forces beyond his control. Stay tuned…
Friday may bring a challenge or charge to your New Moon agenda, thanks to the First Quarter Moon at 2:18AM EST. A possibly strange blend of dreamy inspiration and eccentric innovation may come in handy this afternoon on both coasts….with fine print and details to be hashed out later. Moon goes void at 2:27PM EST, suggesting a three-hour break to chill, daydream, brainstorm, take care of routine business until Moon enters chatty, flexible Gemini at 5:20PM EST. If you have important business already scheduled during the void, don’t freak out. Just be aware that the flake factor is higher than usual, roll with any twists that may occur. A “twist” may be as benign as your waitress cheerfully saying, “Good Morning!”, even though it’s 3:30 in the afternoon.
The next Moon void doesn’t occur until 10:19PM EST on Sunday — shop away, if that’s on your agenda. Saturday is quiet; Sunday is looking balanced and quite productive, if you have to work. It’s a good weekend for ideas, conversation, entertainment and information — have fun exercising your brain.
East Coasters, do your best to get it off your desk in the morning, before the Moon in ambitious Capricorn goes void at 2:32PM until 6:21PM NY time. Quite frankly, you can probably find an innovative and inspired way to make things happen, especially if your work involves the arts, healing, spirit…and maybe a bit of finance (we may see some surprising news in the headlines regarding monetary matters today and tomorrow). During the void, you know the drill: no shopping sprees, chill if you can. Rest, brainstorm, take care of routine matters and be flexible with your scheduled appointments, as the flake factor is higher during void periods.
West Coasters, do the math: your Moon void happens between 10:32AM – 3:21PM LA time, suggesting a reeeeealllly long lunch hour. If your favorite client calls you in a panic, breathe through it, “keep calm and carry on”. Often these “crises” that occur during voids turn out to be much ado about nothing.
After the void, Moon enters Aquarius, a sign that needs to be socially significant. While you’re waiting around for the New Moon (in Aquarius) to happen on Wednesday evening, you could let the humanitarian spirit of the day inspire you make a list of a few ways you could be of service to others — no matter how small — and have a plan to put them in action. You could even get a few friends involved, too.
Meanwhile, I hope this article by master astrologer Rob Hand puts the kibbosh on any lingering notion of there being a “revised” zodiac with 13 signs http://robhand.com/Ophiuchus.htm — I’m still getting questions about it — truly amazing.
More of Moon in socially conscious Libra…in a day of relatively few planetary aspects, which are pleasant and dreamy and all that. Get what you need from others today if you can — using charm and social graces, of course — as tomorrow is looking more intense, moody and challenging.
Moon goes void at 5:04PM NY time (heads up to Angelenos: your afternoon may be a bust, better spent brainstorming or resting), until 9:15PM NY time, proving once again that an astrologer is not on call in the Obama White House. Who starts a State of the Union address (9PM NY time) during a Moon void if the goal is to say something that will be of consequence??? This would never have happened under Nancy Reagan’s watch, let me tell you ; ) So…as with last year (which was also delivered during a Moon void), we can anticipate words that likely go nowhere…save for whatever surprise twist (paging Joe Wilson) that may manifest between 9PM and 9:15PM. If any words of depth and meaning are said, they are likely to be uttered after 9:15PM, when Moon enter Scorpio, a sign that needs to been seen as deep and in control: “My fellow Americans…{sobering, serious thoughts}…hope, courage, vision, yes we can and God bless America” (applause, thanks to a constructive influence Venus, planet of social expression).
Happy Monday after Christmas! Really it’s not a bad week to be on vacation: Mercury retrograde and other patterns creating weather and travel havoc – and a Moon void on the East Coast today from 7:20AM to 12:38 PM NY time, suggesting you sleep in, chill out and take care of routine details, if you must take care of any details at all. Returning unwanted gifts to retail stores is favored during voids — but you are advised to wait until after the void before taking advantage of massive clearance sales; purchases made during voids often turn out to be disappointing.
As for the “news from underground” anticipated over the weekend, a few earthquakes were noted, including an aftershock in Christchurch, NZ (a follow-up to the 7+magnitude quake on Sept 4th)…and then there was this intriguing page-turner dominating the front page of the NY Times: “Deepwater Horizon’s Final Hours”http://www.nytimes.com/2010/12/26/us/26spill.html?_r=1&hp — piecing together minute-by-minute events leading up to the April 20th blowout of BP’s infamous oil well. Overall theme: poor communication, confusion, an inability to process information in a timely fashion and mechanical failures; in other words, the conditions astrologers have observed often occur with greater frequency during Mercury retrogrades. And Mercury had just turned retrograde on April 18th…two days before that blowout.
Please be advised that Mercury will be turning direct this week at 2:21AM NY time on Thursday…and we will likely feel the shift a day or so before. Be patient with yourself and others should you be caught in a travel/communication/mechanical breakdown snafu. Be mindful of those with a “my way or the highway” attitude as we move closer to Wednesday’s square to aggressive Mars from rigid Saturn. A bit of saber-rattling, perhaps?
OK, so in brief — Monday: Moon void until 12:38PM NY time. Moon enters Libra with a bit of edginess thereafter, bringing you the last challenge to the New Moon agenda you set a few weeks ago. What relationship issues — perhaps triggering old tapes — will land on your plate? Tuesday: more of the same. Wednesday: that potentially irritating and/or frustrating, but definitely driven Mars-Saturn square, accompanied by a Moon void from 10:05AM – 3:49PM NY time. The void should soften the teeth of the challenge posed by the square…before moving into moody bastard Scorpio until 8:21PM NY time on Friday. Thursday the planetary patterns are not as edgy, though the vibe will likely still be intense. Friday the vibe is still intense, but with a much more pleasant spin…and looking downright jolly when Moon enters optimistic Sagittarius that evening — just in time to ring in the New Year. I hope you’re planning something festive — enjoy!
Vote early. Seriously — if you haven’t voted by mail, get up and get to the polls in the morning; don’t wait until after work. Why? Because this AM we’ve got the Moon in analytical, discriminating Virgo making a supportive aspect with Mercury (mind, communication, travel) and the Moon is not void of course, suggesting that the probability of your vote actually counting is higher; that the your ballot won’t be eaten by the dog or an electronic snafu. As the day progresses, I anticipate a fever pitch of overblown analysis to clog the airwaves (Moon opposing expansive Jupiter), with Moon going void just as it opposes disruptive Uranus at 5:36PM LA time — that’s 8:36PM on the East Coast. You’re more likely to flake out during a void-of-course Moon, which is another reason I encourage you to vote in the morning.
During the void there is a higher potential for “much ado about nothing”, events not going as planned and underdogs triumphing in a surprise twist of fate. The Moon void ends at 1:19AM NY time on Wednesday — that’s when any confusion over outcomes will begin to clear.
We are voting during a Venus retrograde, suggesting that what we find attractive now, especially if it is a sexy, unproven thing, may not be what we find attractive a couple of months from now. Do your own due diligence — and vote. I’m Elisabeth Grace, and I approved this message.
East Coasters, note that there’s a void-of-course Moon from 5:49 – 10:24AM, suggesting that if your alarm doesn’t go off, don’t worry about it; if there’s a twist in your morning commute, don’t worry about that, either. Angelenos, you have no excuse for not getting to work on time. Moon will be in the mental sign of “I love you, but don’t take it personally” Aquarius all day Friday until 10:52PM Sunday, suggesting a receptive atmosphere for endeavors promoting the common good.
Friday is relatively quiet, marked only by a likely burst of early morning exuberance, followed by a strong cooperative spirit of innovation. More exuberance and potential excess are suggested on Saturday AM — what is being expressed that is not being especially well-received? If it’s all about you and your ego, take another look at the last line of the paragraph above.
Sunday AM is good for passion and pillow talk…bordering on the romantic and/or delusional at 2:49PM NY, when the Moon goes void for eight hours. If you’re shopping this weekend, do it on Saturday. Impulsive purchases made during Moon voids generally tend to be not that fulfilling — trust me on this — or go ahead and break the rules — sometimes that’s the best way to learn. Given the dreamy hook-up between Moon (feelings) and nebulous Neptune at the beginning of the Moon void, inspiration, meditation, music and other helping/healing pursuits are suggested for this lazy Sunday afternoon (I will be communing with nature on a golf course. Dreamy!)
In fact, “dreamy” is the key word for all of next week — those who work in film, art, psychic or spiritual pursuits should really dig it. Much of the edge we’ve been experiencing over the past several weeks will have lightened up. Hoorayyyyyy…..to be continued…
Here on the East Coast, we’re looking at a holiday weekend — any chance of making an early escape? The Moon is void of course from 9:38AM – 3:52PM — suggesting a day of letting things take care of themselves instead of rushing around trying to make things happen. Angelenos have until 1PM to let things settle while mulling over whatever heavy news or communication that came in overnight or early this AM — East Coasters, if you didn’t escape early, you’ll be mulling it over, too.
The “heavy” is a hook-up between Mercury (mind, travel, transportation, communication) and restrictive Saturn at 7:35AM NY — you may recall that last week I anticipated jarring headlines as the Messenger Planet made contact with the Big T-Square Party this week, yes? This Mercury-Saturn connection is the last of it. An example of a jarring headline: NJ Gov. Chris Christie’s abrupt decision yesterday to halt the construction of a tunnel linking NJ and NYC because NJ allegedly can not afford it. Two decades of planning and billions of dollars allocated — and then — sorry — the piggy bank is empty. Sign of the times (and the planetary patterns).
But wait — there’s more! Venus, the ruling planet of Libra and Taurus turned retrograde at 3:06AM NY — and it will stay retrograde until November 18th. Keywords for Venus include: love, money, values, beauty and women — issues related to all of these are now up for review. Venus is also charm, appreciation and social graces — and it’s fascinating how quickly these qualities fly out the window during Venus retrograde. Therefore, be especially mindful of your interactions with others — you may find yourself forgetting words like “please” and “thank you” — and you won’t be alone. You may also be unwilling to compromise or consider your partner’s point of view. Venus retrograde can be quite a bitch, especially in Scorpio. But now that you understand the pattern, you can consciously choose not to (over) react to it, right?
Money concerns may also come up; questions about what you are really worth may arise — as if we need any more of that in this economy. If money is not your concern, still be advised that the general rule is not to purchase items of art, beauty or luxury during this time; our sense of aesthetics is often “off”. What you meet and fall in love with this week may not seem so attractive in two months — and that applies to people, too.
So what’s the up side of this potentially witchy, bitchy Venus? By getting in touch with our baser instincts, we have an opportunity for clarity in our existing relationships. Those that are based on fluff are not likely to stand; do you really need that dead wood in your life? And speaking of baser instincts, political debates are likely to become even more heated and barbed as we head towards Election Day. If you don’t know which candidates are nasty or nice, you will soon enough…
