"The reading was a partnership between the two of us; she did not simply recite planetary signs and meanings, but had a conversation with me, continually asking what I made of what she saw, and what I thought I could do to change the things I want to change.

When the names of other people in my life came up, she quickly looked up their charts on her computer and commented on their roles in my life -- painting a fuller picture of where I was, where I wanted to go, and how I could get there.

What was impressive was that Elisabeth took all the planets, people, and situations that made up my life and created a context for them all that was positive, hopeful, and exciting!

She has a lovely personality, a sharp wit, and a gift for astrological interpretation."

Thursday-Friday 8/10-11/2017; Apoplexy in the News; Mind the Void; Rumor Has It

Greetings from Santa Fe…

…where the sensitive, intuitive and impressionable Pisces Moon went void at 9:38 AM ET. Go with the idealistic flow all through the day. Stick to routine concerns. Avoid impulse purchases. Remember that crises which crop up during Moon voids are often much ado about nothing. Chill — and consider indulging in a nice pedicure, as Pisces rules the feet.

Any indulgence in beauty and aesthetics would support the the idealism and optimism suggested by patterns today and early Saturday morning: Mercury and Sun in cooperative alliances with Venus and Jupiter, respectively (today);  Venus in nurturing Cancer in harmony with dreamy Neptune (Saturday).

At 1:22 AM ET on FRIDAY, Moon charges into me-me-me Aries, likely looking to get something started. Which, given that Mercury will turn retrograde on SUNDAY at 9:01 PM ET, should be something that is a REview or REorganization or REconnection project — not something brand spanking new. Start a vacation, maybe — a REtreat is also an apt action — and perhaps the heads of state in the U.S. and North Korea will take that under advisement. One can always hope.

In preparation for the Mercury retrograde, BACK UP YOUR COMPUTERS NOW.

And now, the news.

Remember the Sabian Symbol for the current New Moon cycle that began on July 23rd? It was “a fit of apoplexy.” Remember how there was a dominance of  planets in Fire Signs in that New Moon horoscope, suggesting four weeks of heated improvisation (because Fire doesn’t take the time to plan a strategy; it goes wherever the wind blows)? See any of that in recent headlines?

And now, the news.

Yesterday P45 improvised another threat aimed at North Korea,  “They will be met with fire and fury and frankly power, the likes of which this world has never seen before.” Regular readers of this forecast should not be surprised by the escalated rhetoric at this time. As mentioned before, P45 has a Mars line running through Washington and North Korea. What does that mean? Places on a Mars line in the horoscope are likely areas of militant conflict for heads of state,  and we’ve seen that theory tested in the horoscopes of other U.S. presidents. Get a copy of The Psychology of Astrocartography  by Jim Lewis and Kenneth Irving and you’ll find multiple examples.  For comic relief (comedy being a necesseary coping strategy for anxiety and  suffering), here’s master improvisor Stephen Colbert grading P45’s effort.

North Korea is angry about new sanctions recently imposed by the UN; thus, it has threatened retaliation against the United States because we’re so exceptional. In the horoscope of North Korea (courtesy of Jamie Partridge), we see Saturn (control, authority) at 28 Leo, which sits right on top of the Leo Ascendant of the U.S. Tweeter-in-Chief. This suggests the P45 (and the U.S., by extension), is likely to experience North Korea as a major block or wet blanket on his fiery regal image. Reading Partridge’s most excellent write-up of the North Korea horoscope, this bit about Venus jumped out:

Venus generally rules peace and diplomacy, but in mundane astrology signifies war in hard aspect. In ancient Mesopotamia, she was the Goddess of Love and Procreation when the evening star, and the Goddess of War when the morning star. In the North Korea horoscope she is Goddess of War, visible before sunrise. The furthest she can ever be in front of the Sun is 48 degrees, so at 46 degrees ahead of the Sun in this chart, she is a very fired up Goddess Ishtar. “her morning appearance woke them up to go to war” [Deborah Houlding].

So an angry Venus woke the North Koreans up at half past two in the morning to go to war. The square from Mars, ruler of the military and war, turns her anger into blind fury. The lunar eclipse before the declaration of independence was at 03°17′ Scorpio, less than half a degree from the North Korean Mars. This increases the aggressive and reactionary nature of the country.

North Korea’s Venus is 0 degrees Leo. Where was the New Moon on July 23rd? 0 Leo! No wonder North Korea responded by announcing plans to strike Guam.  Where will the next New Moon — also the Great American Eclipse — occur? On August 21st, at 28 Leo, right on North Korea’s 28 Leo  Saturn…and, as noted in previous posts, on P45’s 26 Leo Mars and 29 Leo Ascendant. Do you have any planets at 0 Leo and/or 28 Leo? Would you like to know how the Aug 21st total solar eclipse may impact your own personal world? I am offering a special mini-reading to answer just that question for  $44.88. Send me your date, place and time of birth and I will email you a brief write-up.

Meanwhile, it was revealed that on July 26th,  the FBI conducted a pre-dawn raid on the home of Paul Manafort, looking for “tax documents and foreign banking records.”  Glancing at the horoscope of Robert Mueller — time unknown — we see that his Venus at 26 Leo will be hit by the August 21st solar eclipse. This suggests an increase or decrease of effectiveness in relationship and/or financial concerns, so we’ll be watching the headlines carefully the first week of September. Without a birth time, we are limited to what we can anticipate. Mr. Mueller is a Leo with Moon in late Pisces or early Aries. His 14 degree Leo Sun was hit by this week’s Full Moon eclipse at 15 Leo/Aquarius. What else will be released in the aftermath?

In other news…. from Across the Pond. A source says that  Queen Elizabeth plans to bypass Prince Charles. Prince William will become England’s next king, in a story that has NOT — let the record show — been picked up by mainstream papers. Thus we are inclined to chuck it in the rubbish bin labelled “Mercury Retrograde Rumors That Turn Out To Be Much Ado About Nothing On An All-Day Moon Void.”

But just as an exercise — and as a relief from writing about the mainstream media’s deplorable Usual Suspects —  what do the horoscopes suggest? Last year we noted that the Queen’s horoscope would experience three hits of Uranus squaring her Capricorn Ascendant, suggesting potential break-ups, separations and a need for a fresh start in matters of self-worth and values. Those hits started in 2016 and continued into early 2017.  Brexit fit that potential perfectly.

Meanwhile, according to today’s tabloid story, a palace insider said:

“Her Majesty realized that William and Kate are the future. She has spent 65 years making sure that the House of Windsor survives, and she sees William and Kate as having the energy and star quality to do the job in a modern world. Queen Elizabeth will always do what is best for the long-term health of the monarchy,”

When might this rumored transition of power happen? It’s interesting to note that transiting Uranus will conjunct the Queen’s Taurus Sun three times, starting in 2018.  This suggests a need for freedom and independent expression, unconventional though it may be. We also see transiting Pluto conjunct Her Majesty’s Ascendant, starting in January of 2019, continuing through that year.  This suggests a dramatic change of perspective in personal identity. We see another measurement between her Midheaven and Saturn exact in December 2018, suggesting a change in professional status and/or significant family development. Clearly the horoscope is ripe for continued change.

In Prince William’s horoscope, we see transiting Saturn conjunct his 27 Sagittarius Ascendant three times in 2017, suggesting a streamlining squeeze on his identity, enabling him to emerge at the end of it as “Prince William version 2.0”. Saturn will oppose his 0 degree Cancer Sun and 4 degree Cancer Moon, starting in January of 2018. More gravitas for sure.  In 2018, transiting Uranus will oppose  his 2 degree Scorpio Midheaven, suggesting a disruption in the family and in his professional status. That opposition occurs twice next summer: on July 23rd and August 28th, accompanied by another measurement between the Sun and Venus. Sun-Venus measurements suggest a focus on love, popularity, creativity and/or birth.

UPDATE: It was announced on September 4th that the Duchess of Cambridge and Prince William are expecting their third child. Huzzah!

What’s going on in Prince Charles’ horoscope? In 2018 transiting Uranus will conjunct his material comfort and stability-seeking Taurus Moon three times, suggesting an intense disruption. In 2019, transiting Uranus squares his regal Leo Ascendant, suggesting a fresh start. Uranus rules the area of the Prince’s life regarding relationships and the public. It’s interesting to note that the Midheaven in Prince William’s horoscope is hit in 2018 — a year before the hits to the Queen and Prince Charles.

UPDATE: Soon after this forecast posted, Avid Reader Patricia wrote to set the record straight:

I love all the info about the Queen. Unfortunately she can’t give the crown straight to William bypassing Charles because in England titles and the crown go to the next in line. Nobody gets to choose who gets it next, it’s birth order. If it ever happened it would be because Charles died or has become mentally or physically impaired. Also the only way we would find out is the Prime Minister announcing it in Parliament. The laws in England are somewhat rigid when it comes to inheritance and after the whole what they term “nightmare” of the abdication of her uncle, who became the Duke of Windsor, the Royal family are somewhat skittish in this area.

Patricia is English and therefore someone who ought to Know About These Things. Thank you, Patricia for writing and helping me make a point about taking at face value a story that makes news during a Moon void and/or a Mercury Retrograde. Remember this when reading the headlines between now and September 5th!

Meanwhile, in the Land of Enchantment (New Mexico), it is ever so peaceful and quiet…so, so quiet. During the day in the middle of nowhere,  there is not a sound to be heard. It reminds me of the haunting opening of the movie Contact, as the camera pulls back from Earth through our solar system, finally surpassing the reach of audio transmission beaming out from this ‘big, blue marble.  Silence can be such a balm for the senses and the soul. I hope you will take time to tune in to this perspective as a necessary break from the tension of these”interesting times.”

Thank you for reading this forecast.

Would you like to know how the Aug 21st total solar eclipse may impact your own personal world? I am offering a special mini-reading to answer just that question for  $44.88. Send me your date, place and time of birth and I will email you a brief write-up.

Thursday-Friday 7/27-28/2017: Icarus Falls and Other Wonders

The Virgo Moon went void at 2:31 AM ET, wandering without focus on its quest for perfection — for better or for worse. A Moon void suggests crises that crop up are likely much ado about nothing. Should I file this morning’s headline about the “Justice” Department’s argument that a federal civil rights law does not protect employees from discrimination based on sexual orientation in this category? Is this yet another distraction from Other Things the PTB Would Prefer We Not Know About?

At 11:37 AM ET, see if you notice the shift as the Moon engages in the next sign, Libra. A Libra Moon seeks balance, fairness and no small amount of people-pleasing. It cruises without interference for the rest of the day, pushing forward its agenda around 9PM ET, suggested by a boost to the Moon from  the Sun (leaders) and Mars (action) in “l’etat, c’est moi” Leo.

More of the same on Friday — smooth sailing for the Moon in the AM and early PM,  building to an expansive burst of optimism or excess around 6:35 PM ET, as the Moon meets up with Jupiter. A power play or emotional catharsis may soon follow, as the Moon makes its weekly clash with ruthless Pluto. Should be an interesting afternoon for end-of-the-workweek headlines.

And now, the news…a.k.a: “oh what fresh hell is this?”

Wednesday morning began with a face-off between the hypercritical/perfection-seeking Virgo Moon and delusional/bewildering Neptune, exact at 6:37AM ET. Add in the planetary pattern of the week — i.e, the meet-up of the Sun and militant Mars in rip roarin’ Leo, and you’ve got an apt backdrop for yet another boondoogle of a tweetstorm from five-time draft-dodger P45. Driving us to distraction this time was a royal proclamation that in order to form a more perfect military, transgendered persons will no longer be permitted to serve. It’s just more efficient, you see — and thrifty, too — especially in terms of health care costs — all  cherished Virgo buzzwords. And never mind that the health care cost of transgendered personnel pales in comparison to the amount spent on treating erectile dysfunction (blasted macho Mars in Leo fried to a crisp by its exact meet-up with the fireball Leo Sun) — $41.6 million on Viagra alone.   Delusional? Surreal? A tad dictatorial? The Defense Department was “blindsided” — never saw it coming, reflecting the potential of Mars (war, military) literally blinded by its exact proximity to the overpowering Sun.

Caitlyn Jenner, clutching her pearls as she processed the shock of realizing what havoc her Election Day vote has wreaked upon the nation, expressed outrage, just as her horoscope suggests she would at this time. Check out the chart and notice how the Sun-Mars meet-up is provoking her Scorpio Sun and Ascendant, while transiting Mercury in Virgo sits on her Mars; transiting Saturn squeezes the life out of her Venus (social expression; values) at 20 Sagittarius; transiting Pluto squaring her natal Mercury motivates her to transform her perspective and express herself persuasively; and finally, transiting Uranus squaring her natal Jupiter shakes up her values and self-worth. Isn’t astrology amazing? Just wait until 2018, when transiting Uranus zaps her Aquarius Moon and intensifies her need to be seen as a humanitarian of social significance. Watch her broaden her reach.

Late-night comics are having a field day, as is NYT columnist Gail Collins, whose usual cheerful demeanor is noticeably subdued once again by the influence of transiting Saturn (sobering) on her Mercury (mindset). Op-ed columnists liberal and conservative — including  Charles Blow ,  Jennifer Rubin and even Ken Starr are also reflecting the potential of the Sabian Symbol for the recent New Moon in Leo: a fit of apoplexy. Told you so.

Meanwhile, Orrin Hatch (R-UT)  surprised many when he stated last night, “Transgender people are people and deserve the best we can do for them.” I’m not surprised. When it was rumored months ago that exposure of corruption in the current Administration and on Capitol Hill would lead to Senator Hatch becoming president, I thought, “well, that seems like a really big stretch, but given the chaotic Mad Hatter Tea Party suggested by pertinent horoscopes, let’s check it out.” Do we see the potential  for exceptional recognition and reward in Orrin Hatch’s horoscope?  Yes — and we do have a birth time for him: 1PM on 3/22/1934 in Homestead Park, PA.

His pioneering Aries Sun at the Aries Point brings energy to lead and inspire, driven by a Moon in Gemini that needs to be the smartest kid in the room. It’s fronted by a Cancer Ascendant, needing to be seen as caring and sensitive, concerned with family and home(land) security.  And oh — looky, he has a Sun-Mars conjunction, too — only in Aries, champion of the underdog (on a really good day).  Those religious hymns he writes? Chalk that up to an opposition between Mercury (mindset. communication) and Neptune (faith, music) placed in the areas of his horoscope related to writing and publishing.

His horoscope has been hot this year — and will continue to be so into 2018.  Like P45, he’s been enjoying the expansive and rewarding potential of Jupiter’s return to its natal placement in the horoscope. It was exact on his March solar return and will hit again on August 23rd.   Transiting Uranus is squaring his Cancer Ascendant, suggesting a potential fresh start or upset; it’s also conjoining his natal Uranus, suggesting a need for independence and freedom, as in not having any more eff’s to give, as the saying goes. The potential for a change of status could apply in personal as well as professional affairs. The first hits of these two series of three emancipating/disruptive Uranus transits happened in May, when that wild presidential rumor hit the headlines. Let’s watch around October and next March, for hits two and three.

But the measurement that really intrigued me – after pondering how events in his life might reflect the potential in his horoscope — is between his Midheaven (career/honor/public status) and his prominent pioneering Aries Sun (technical term, for astrology pros and students, is “solar arc”).  It permeates all of 2017 and it is exact on August 2nd.  It suggests “professional fulfillment; getting what one deserves,” as expressed by astrologer Noel Tyl.  Point is, based on that transit, I’ve been anticipating an opportunity for Senator Hatch to shine in the spotlight right about now, and was thus pleased to see him making news yesterday on such a positive, caring and humanitarian note.

In early December transiting Saturn will oppose his Moon.  Hard aspects between Saturn-Moon aspects can suggest ambition/advance realized out of a sense of lack or loss.  The gravitas continues in January, as transiting Saturn squares his Aries Sun, suggesting heavy responsibility and/or streamlining —  with an extra dose of prominence in public and personal status. We shall see.

Meanwhile, yesterday’s Sun-Mars in Leo meet-up also involved the asteroid Icarus. In mythology, Icarus was given wings made of feathers and wax which were to be used to escape imprisonment in labyrinth.   Ignoring his father’s wise advice, Icarus flew high — way up to the Sun — where his wings of wax melted and he fell into the sea and died. Moral of the story: hubris will destroy you. Add that mythological element into your reading of yesterday’s news.

Meanwhile…Leo refers to entertainment and fun parks. Here’s a headline from WaPo — posted soon after that Sun-Mars-Icarus conjunction in Leo: “Aggressive Thrill Ride Snaps in Mid-Air, Killing One and Injuring Seven.” What’s the name of the “thrill ride”. THE FIREBALL. Still not convinced by the astonishing synchronicity of headline news and planetary patterns? I don’t know what to tell you then, because I can’t do any better than that! Feel free to chip in to my Cosmic Tip Jar — I’ve fixed the link — fingers crossed — if you tried it before and couldn’t follow through on your appreciative (and much appreciated) impulse. Gratitude.

Other Mars-Sun (and arguably Icarus, too) headlines:

Thank you for reading this forecast. To learn how current planetary patterns are being reflected in your own personal world, why not schedule a personal consultation — in plain English, with no astrological jargon.

Astro-logical Forecast for Tuesday 1/20/2015: New Moon in Aquarius; the Surreal Fallout of Mars Conjunct Neptune

At 4:44 AM ET — an Angel Number suggesting “all is well” —  the Sun enters Aquarius. The Moon follows at 7:59 AM ET, and the Sun and Moon both meet up at 8:14 AM ET. Happy New Moon! This is our chance to re-set intentions and goals for the next lunar cycle.  Make a list; light a candle; plant those seeds. Around the 26th, on the First Quarter Moon, we can expect a challenge to those goals, with appropriate adjustments made. How are our seedlings doing?  Keep on nurturing them, and at the time of the Full Moon, they may flower. We will receive illumination on the success or failure of our goals for the cycle, either way. If we succeeded, we can consciously release our success into our reality; if we failed, we let go of whatever did not work. After the Third Quarter Moon on February 11th, we can harvest our achievements, then tie up loose ends, compost and get ready to begin another New Moon cycle on February 18th.

Aquarius is an airy (mental), fixed (organizing) energy. Keywords for Aquarius include innovation, eccentricity, friendship, humanitarian, unconventional, rocket scientist and/or mad genius. If you were born with the Sun in Aquarius, you have the energy to innovate and intellectualize with others. If your Moon is in Aquarius, you need to be socially significant — and dare I say appreciated for it. You probably need to be unusual, too. I learned these nifty, pithy expressions of solar energy and lunar needs from my mentor, Noel Tyl. “I love you, but don’t take it personally” is another nifty, pithy Aquarian  expression — and I came up with that one all by myself. If you have Venus in Aquarius, chances are you especially know what I’m talking about.

In the chart for this New Moon, the Sun and Moon are augmented by practical Saturn in high-flying Sagittarius. There’s a need for easy communication of humanitarian ideals and how they are to be achieved. Mercury and Venus, which refer to mindset and values — are also in airy, Aquarius, which is also the sign of “the people”.  Both are opposed by expansive Jupiter in kingly Leo. Hmmm. With Mercury at a near standstill and about to turn retrograde on Wednesday (BACK UP YOUR COMPUTER NOW), big ideas may be stalled and up for review before they can move forward.

Meanwhile, action hero Mars and visionary Neptune are together in soulful Pisces, adding pixie dust and considerations of sacrifice, empathy, idealism, surrealism or fanaticism to the mix.  Interesting that the Sun and Moon in humanitarian Aquarius are reaching out to Saturn; Mars and Neptune (and all that they represent) are moving away from Saturn, which refers to structure, ambition, etc.  Moving from vision to practical reality?

Last, but hardly least, the revolutionary Uranus-Pluto square is inching closer to its grand finale scheduled for March 15th. Isn’t this an interesting backdrop for President Obama’s State of the Union speech tonight, which is not happening during a Moon void, and thus may actually be of consequence? Tax breaks for the middle class — to be offset by an increase in taxes on the richer are allegedly on the agenda.

The Sabian Symbol for this New Moon is “an old adobe mission,” or, as Sabian Symbol guru Blain Bovee describes it, “a sun-baked building erected for a specific cause in a foreign territory…imagine the burning fervor of someone whose deep beliefs motivate a journey to a foreign, even hostile place”.  Bovee suggests we apply this degree with a watchful eye toward “a willingness to go into hot spots; a willingness to take on hard cases.” In light of current events, I am particularly struck by this: “The quest to carry beliefs far afield exposes all concerned to the inadvertent spread of foreign disease; in this case, even a kindly message can have striking repercussions”. Watch for these themes in the headlines.

In your own personal world, if you were born around the 20th of January, April, July and October…or if you have a planet or angle around 1 degree of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and especially Aquarius, you will be more personally affected by this New Moon. Wherever it falls in your horoscope is where you can expect a fervent belief to spark a mission. Consult your local astrologer for details, especially since Mercury will turn retrograde on Wednesday. Mercury REtrogrades are excellent times to REview your life!

And now, the news.

It’s interesting to read the headlines of obituaries in the New York Times and marvel at how they reflect current planetary patterns, such as Monday’s charismatic, magical and/or surreal Mars-Neptune conjunction in Pisces. “Jane Wilson, Artist of the Ethereal, Dies at 90“. “Kim Fowley, Rock Producer and Svengali, Dies at 75“. “Yoko Nagae Ceschina, Countess and Fairy Godmother to the Arts, Dies at 82”. Fairy godmother? Ethereal? Svengali? Clearly the NYT reporters are under the influence. Yea verily, you may not believe in astrology, but astrology definitely believes in you.

Here’s a wiggy item in the world of sports (Mars),  in which the New England Patriots, who defeated the Baltimore Colts on Sunday, are now being investigated to determine if they cheated (Neptune) and used “deflated balls” in order to tip the odds in their favor. As this story broke during yesterday’s all-day Moon void, I’m inclined to think this is much ado about nothing. Meanwhile, in the world of film (Neptune), we have the surreal box office success of “American Sniper,” (Mars). It’s earned ten times more than “Selma,” a film about Martin Luther King, Jr and the civil rights movement. Here’s a how a few people who saw “Selma” reacted, while in Alabama, a school superintendent refused to allow a high school history club to see it, because of concerns that the language would be offensive. So they all saw “American Sniper” instead.

OK, I made that last line up. Point is, when Neptune is prominent, double check for accuracy. Especially in the news. That advice also applies to the next Mercury retrograde, which will continue through February 12th.

For example, elsewhere in the media (Neptune), Fox news issued an apology for repeatedly perpetuating the falsehood (Neptune) that parts of Paris and the UK were considered “no-go zones” for anyone who was not Muslim. Did you know that Jon Stewart has an equal in France? Here is a French version of “The Daily Show,” in which the Fox story is deconstructed and exposed. On a bien rigole!

Finally, here are a couple of “wake up and smell the coffee” items in the spirit of the Uranus-Pluto square. They’re about climate change and income inequality. First, a study released yesterday (on that expansive and indulgent Venus-Jupiter opposition), reported that the 1% now own 50% of all the wealth in the world. But true to the spirit of the Aquarius New Moon, this issue will allegedly be a hot topic at the world economic forum starting on Tuesday in Davos (and in the State of the Union speech, as noted earlier). Second, three more studies on climate change were released last week — in case you had not heard.

On days when I read articles like these, Angel Numbers like “444” are doubly reassuring. Onward!

Astro-logical Forecast for Monday 11/3/2014: Sneak Peek at the Week; Bill Cosby

Happy Monday!

Focus on routine tasks in the early part of the day, as the Moon is void-of-course in Pisces until 1:53PM ET.  What is a Moon void, some of you new to this forecast may wonder. Have you ever played on an old-fashioned pinball machine? The ball bounces off those rubber bumpers with force and direction, lighting up the board and scoring points. Eventually the ball stops making contact with the bumpers and rolls down to the bottom of the machine. If you imagine that the Moon is the pinball and those bumpers are planets, the last contact the pinball makes with a bumper is equivalent to the last contact the Moon makes with a planet while it is in a particular sign, such as Pisces. The time it takes for the pinball to fall back down to the bottom of the machine and be relaunched (into the next sign, such as Aries), is like a Moon void.  The pinball rolls back down without much force, and sometimes there is a delay, as the pinball gets stuck on the side of the machine. So it can be with a void-of-course Moon. Got that?

We have a few long Moon voids this week, during which your efforts to move forward in a straight line may feel like you’re herding cats. Roll with whatever twists and flakes crop up and resist the temptation to make mountains out of molehills. Avoid impulse shopping and finalizing plans. Otherwise, chill out. Here are the voids, in addition to today: Wednesday 8:25AM ET – 4:33PM ET; Friday 11:17AM ET – 8:45PM ET.

It’s full speed ahead once the Moon charges into Aries at 1:53PM ET, ready to get something started with fiery conviction. Never mind those pesky details; just jump! Upsets and/or revelations, as well as power plays — for better or for worse — are likely tomorrow morning, as the Moon makes its weekly clash with the never-ending Uranus-Pluto square at 9:07AM and 12:29PM ET. But first, be aware of another charged clash between the Moon and action hero Mars at 12:52AM ET, suggesting you pay close attention behind the wheel and avoid ego-driven confrontations. Better to apply this brief power surge to a creative project or something productively physical.

Other patterns of note this week include the Full Moon in Taurus on Thursday and Mercury entering Scorpio on Saturday. Humming in the background is a fast-approaching challenge between an extremely effective Mars in Capricorn to Uranus and Pluto, which will be exact next Monday and Wednesday. What kind of events can we expect? Here’s what happened in April; here’s what happened in June.

And now, the news, brought to you in part by Saturn in nitty-gritty things we might prefer not to face in matters of sex and death.

First, Brittany Maynard passed away on Saturday at age 29. Ms. Maynard was diagnosed some months ago with terminal brain cancer and made a decision to end her life “on her own terms,” rather than let the disease run its course. She moved to Oregon and made headlines as the poster child for those advocating the right to die with dignity (as one can in Oregon). It is interesting to note her passing on a day with Moon in Pisces (endings), Mars (action) in a cooperative connection with Neptune (drugs, spirit, surrender), along with other exact patterns noted in prior forecasts.

Second, comedian Bill Cosby is making headlines again. Back in September I noted the release of a new biography about the iconic comedian, which was reflective of general planetary patterns. But obviously something suggesting prominence would have been going on in his horoscope, especially since the reason Mr. Cosby is making headlines this month is because a male comedian (Hannibal Buress) called him a rapist several weeks ago in his stand-up act.  And in fact, Mr. Cosby was accused of sexual assault/abuse almost a decade ago, and thirteen women were going to testify against him…until the case was settled out of court.

These allegations were raised again back in February by Salon, but the article did not generate much traction. Now, within a few days, we have Burress’s shout-out going viral and a lengthy account by Barbara Bowman, a woman who did not settle, now detailing  the whole sordid, OMG-must-we-know-all-these-awful-things, tale. (Yes, we must. With Saturn in Scorpio, we can’t look away. Even though we were able to back in 2006).

So what’s going on in Bill Cosby’s horoscope? How about ruthless Pluto turning direct and making contact with the top of his horoscope for the FIFTH and final time since 2013? That’ll get you prominence: a new biography, a new sitcom and — oh yeah, those sexual assault allegations you thought were buried. Not with Pluto.

Next year Uranus will be making contact with Cosby’s me-me-me Aries Ascendant and his emotional security-seeking Cancer Sun. Other patterns reinforce the suggestion of a break-out and an overturning of the status quo. I am intrigued by a measurement to his perfection-driven Virgo Moon suggesting a trauma up for healing, especially since the Moon is part of a pattern in his horoscope called a Grand Trine. I learned from Noel Tyl how Grand Trines, traditionally viewed as “lucky”, also function as defensive structures, which allow the native to act as if the laws others must follow do not apply to him or her. We shall see.

Meanwhile, headlines in Canada are currently focused on allegations of serial sexual assault that resulted in the firing of media personality Jian Ghomeshi. Sign of the times.

And speaking of the Times, the New York Times would like you to know  — in a pithy article — that Bill Cosby and Hannibal Buress will be performing in the New York Comedy Festival this weekend. But not on the same stage.

What’s going on in your horoscope? That nagging need to make a change will likely be affirmed by planetary patterns, so you can move forward with confidence. Here’s the 411 on personal consultations.

Astro-logical Forecast for Thursday 6/13/2013: Adorable

Good Morning!

A few days ago I received an email from a reader who noticed something discreetly placed at the bottom of these emailed forecasts that she’d never noticed before. “Make an experiment and put it at the top and see what it brings,” she suggested. OK, why not. Here goes:

The Daily Astro-Logical forecast is a labor of love. If you find it valuable and wish to make a donation, you will make my day. Thank you!

And speaking of love, planetary patterns are light today, and the festive, regal, drama-loving Leo Moon has few distractions. Work, play and shine, shine, shine — and help others shine, too, by telling them how great they are. Moon in Leo loves this stuff — and if you have Moon in Leo, you know what I’m talking about. If you have Moon in Leo and you do not know what I’m talking about, I would argue that your life would be much more fulfilling if you found a conscious and positive way to meet your need for applause.  I learned from master astrologer Noel Tyl how much a Leo Moon needs to loved and adored, and the world is a much happier place when these Leo Moons get what they need. Keep that in mind when you are tempted to roll your eyes at the kingly or queenly dramas of your Moon-in-Leo friends and family. Rub the bellies of these big cats — or scratch them under their chins — and watch them purr. Eva Peron, Barbra Streisand, Paul McCartney and Dolly Parton all have Moon in Leo.

Meanwhile, note that the Moon will be void-of-course tomorrow between 7:14am and 12:26PM ET, so plan your calendar accordingly. Remember that project I was working on that absolutely, positively had to ship last Thursday, during a day-long void? All of the materials had to be re-done — twice. And the ship date was delayed by a week — as I suspected it would be — on Monday, the first business day of the New Moon cycle. Fascinating….but not surprising, when you know something about astrology.

Astro-logical Forecast for Tuesday 1/18/2011

More of the same from yesterday afternoon. If you have research to do, or any project requiring focused concentration and honing/chiseling words, then have at it. We may also see intense communication — in your own world and in the headlines — that aims to get right down to the bones of an issue, stripping away all that is deemed excessive. Serious!

Contrast that suggested pattern with the innovation and expansion of easy contacts between Sun and Jupiter and Uranus…and perhaps we’ll see the best of both worlds: cutting out what is no longer needed, in favor of moving forward with a radical approach that aims to create MORE…hopefully more of something good.

In other news, perhaps you have seen the numerous reports over the past few weeks of massive die-offs of birds and fish around the world: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/01/18/science/18birds.html?hp Unsettling news indeed — and could there be a planetary pattern reflecting these mysterious mass exits?  Frankly, they are not out of line with the “endings” suggested by the quantum leap of consciousness of last week’s Jupiter (expansion) and Uranus (airwaves, technology, out-of-the blue, disruptive) hook-up at the tail end of Pisces, the last sign of the zodiac.

Last year, many astrologers anticipated an increase in suicides and other sudden departures  — and in fact, such departures did make headlines (google “suicides 2010”).Why? Two big planets completing journeys through the zodiac suggest a correlating pattern in our lives on Earth. That is the essence of astrology, as Noel Tyl succinctly explains: “Planetary patterns reflect patterns in life development”. Astrologers understand what these patterns suggest, just as you understand the pattern of squiggles you’re now reading.

Back to the possible manifestations of Jupiter and Uranus completing their journey through the zodiac: here on Earth, some may be leaving because their stay here is complete; others may not appreciate that a new cycle is just around the corner (and they are bailing out of fear and/or despair). But the new cycle is just around the corner!  Jupiter enters Aries, the sign associated with rebirth/new beginnings, this week; Uranus gets there in March. Endings and beginnings: a major theme we’ll see in the headlines continued through 2011.  Stay tuned…and oh — one other thing: all this talk in the headlines of the need for a return to civility in our social discourse? Regular readers of this forecast will recall this call to action anticipated when Saturn entered Libra, the sign symbolizing social graces and diplomacy, several months ago.

Astro-logical Forecast for Monday 1/10/11: Shootings in Tucson, AZ

Any wild dreams upon waking? Contacts from Moon  to expansive Jupiter, erratic Uranus (all three in free-flowing, intangible Pisces) and mental Mercury in high-flying Sagittarius during the wee hours certainly suggests that possibility. I dreamed I was working as a temporary secretary at a local, independently-owned TV station, where I crashed the entire broadcasting machine by selecting the option “exit” while editing a Word document. It made no sense to me whatsoever that the station’s ability to function was so vulnerable. Hmm.

A slow start or twist in your morning routine was also suggested on the East Coast, as Moon was void between 6:12 – 10:24AM NY time, before zooming into Aries, sign of me-me-me — and oh, did I mention ME? Moon in Aries suggests opportunity to more forward on pioneering projects — to take the lead, to be courageous and to inspire. Onward!

On the downside, Moon in Aries can suggest a lack of consideration, pushiness, brashness and general insensitivity to others in the rush to put forth a Big Idea. Communication today may indeed be brilliant and inspired, but it also may feel frenetic or disruptive to the status quo, as suggested by contacts to opinionated Mercury in Sagittarius from the aforementioned technologically brilliant, but erratic Uranus and nebulous, transcendental Neptune. Do be especially mindful if you are traveling — and try not to overload your machinery.

As for the utterly upsetting headlines from Arizona over the weekend, I note the following — with a silver lining promised at the end of these notes:

1) This senseless violence, perpetrated by an individual “revolutionary” acting against a perceived governmental “control” is no surprise, given current and especially approaching planetary patterns;

2) The chart of the State of Arizona (Feb 14 1912) shows last week’s expansive/erratic Jupiter-Uranus hook-up challenging — for the third time since 2010 — ruthless Pluto on Jan 4 and 5, preceding another challenge from nebulous Neptune to Arizona’s Sun in Aquarius (freedom-loving, eccentric) during all of 2009 into 2010; sounds like a compelling illustration for the weirdness and brutally divisive tone we’ve been witnessing therein;

3) Though we do not have a confirmed birth date for the perpetrator, we have enough (Sept 1988) to see that Jupiter-Uranus hook-up triggering (no pun intended) Jared Loughner’s opinionated ambition and intensity merging “old guard” with “avant garde” suggested by his Saturn and Uranus in Sagittarius; a likely trigger to his Mars (action) from ruthless Pluto, with his Sun triggered either by Pluto or Uranus. And yes, we see in ten seconds the potential for delusion (a subversive Mars retrograde in Aries likely challenged by nebulous Neptune), perhaps made even more so if he was born around Sep 28th, which would then put his Sun under that weird Mars-Neptune spell, too.

4) The horoscope of Gabrielle Giffords shows Mars and Uranus under stress and tension from Pluto throughout 2010 — these planets are not marshmallows. And yes, there are other patterns, too — but I would rather focus attention and intention on Congresswoman Giffords — and all those who were hurt — by sending healing thoughts of light and love their way.

The point is that there are planetary patterns throughout which suggest the potential for events as they occurred. Coincidence or conspiracy?  Even when bearing in mind that, as my teacher, Noel Tyl always says, “Planets don’t do anything; people do” — meaning that their “energy” (for lack of a better word, is neutral. We decide if we are going to be delusional or inspired; destructive or regenerative, etc — it is all. Up. To us.

The silver lining:  if you haven’t heard about Daniel Hernandez, the 20-year old intern whose response-ability likely saved Congresswoman Giffords’ life, this story may inspire you to re-read your First Aid Handbook — or at least go out and buy one: http://www.azcentral.com/news/articles/2011/01/09/20110109daniel-hernandez-gabrielle-giffords-arizona-shooting.html#ixzz1AXTIZNsb

Have a positive, pioneering day!

Astro-logical Forecast for Tuesday 10/12/2010

Courteney Cox Arquette and David Arquette announced their split after 11 years of marriage, and I know the question on everyone’s mind has been — “Wow! Could this split be directly related to Venus turning retrograde and torpedoing their relationship?” If only it were so simple. A quick glance at Courteney’s chart (working without a known birth time, so my observations are limited),  two measurements leap out: 1) nebulous Neptune opposing Mars, planet of action, which runs wild in the horoscope, suggesting “change of course of action due to dissatisfaction; going to where the grass seems greener; losing focus” (source: astrologer Noel Tyl); and 2) Courteney’s Venus, planet of love/social expression, under extreme pressure from the heavies in the Big T-Square Party (see 7/27/2010 for details on Big T-Square Party) — all of this action has been in effect for a year. In David’s chart we see nebulous Neptune opposing Mercury (mind) and Jupiter-Neptune (Big Picture thinking; his need for reward), suggesting that his already active imagination is likely working overtime.  so bottom line, the only Venus retrograde that likely catalyzed this split is the retrograde Venus in Courteney’s own horoscope (very challenging position); the restless tension, bewilderment — perhaps feeling that there is something else better “out there” likely going on all year long.

Meanwhile, what’s up with this wacky weather? Thunder and lightning and HAIL in NYC as I type! Chalk this up to the third in a row of — get ready to learn a new astrological term — SUPER MOONS. A Super Moon is a New or Full Moon that occurs when the Moon is 90% or greater of its mean closest approach to Earth — the term was coined by astrologer Richard Nolle a few decades ago (so he says — no reason to believe otherwise) — and experience has shown that these New and/or Full Moons coincide with stronger tides, leading to heavy storms and other weather extremes. I’ve been reading his research for over a year now — and he’s been remarkably accurate about this phenomenon, calling the 11th-13th and the 18th-26th of this month as time spans of potential heavy weather action — so now I am sharing it with you.  August and September were also Super Moons; the next one happens in February 2011 — with likely serious winter weather.

For today, the first day back to work for East Coasters — we’ve got Moon (emotional response) in high flying Sagittarius, tossed around in the late afternoon by expansive Jupiter (4:15PM NY) and erratic Uranus (8:07PM NY). Could be some big ideas making a pitch — or an unsettling emotional encounter. Moon goes void at 8:07PM NY — take the evening off and relax.
