Greetings from Santa Fe…
…where the sensitive, intuitive and impressionable Pisces Moon went void at 9:38 AM ET. Go with the idealistic flow all through the day. Stick to routine concerns. Avoid impulse purchases. Remember that crises which crop up during Moon voids are often much ado about nothing. Chill — and consider indulging in a nice pedicure, as Pisces rules the feet.
Any indulgence in beauty and aesthetics would support the the idealism and optimism suggested by patterns today and early Saturday morning: Mercury and Sun in cooperative alliances with Venus and Jupiter, respectively (today); Venus in nurturing Cancer in harmony with dreamy Neptune (Saturday).
At 1:22 AM ET on FRIDAY, Moon charges into me-me-me Aries, likely looking to get something started. Which, given that Mercury will turn retrograde on SUNDAY at 9:01 PM ET, should be something that is a REview or REorganization or REconnection project — not something brand spanking new. Start a vacation, maybe — a REtreat is also an apt action — and perhaps the heads of state in the U.S. and North Korea will take that under advisement. One can always hope.
In preparation for the Mercury retrograde, BACK UP YOUR COMPUTERS NOW.
And now, the news.
Remember the Sabian Symbol for the current New Moon cycle that began on July 23rd? It was “a fit of apoplexy.” Remember how there was a dominance of planets in Fire Signs in that New Moon horoscope, suggesting four weeks of heated improvisation (because Fire doesn’t take the time to plan a strategy; it goes wherever the wind blows)? See any of that in recent headlines?
And now, the news.
Yesterday P45 improvised another threat aimed at North Korea, “They will be met with fire and fury and frankly power, the likes of which this world has never seen before.” Regular readers of this forecast should not be surprised by the escalated rhetoric at this time. As mentioned before, P45 has a Mars line running through Washington and North Korea. What does that mean? Places on a Mars line in the horoscope are likely areas of militant conflict for heads of state, and we’ve seen that theory tested in the horoscopes of other U.S. presidents. Get a copy of The Psychology of Astrocartography by Jim Lewis and Kenneth Irving and you’ll find multiple examples. For comic relief (comedy being a necesseary coping strategy for anxiety and suffering), here’s master improvisor Stephen Colbert grading P45’s effort.
North Korea is angry about new sanctions recently imposed by the UN; thus, it has threatened retaliation against the United States because we’re so exceptional. In the horoscope of North Korea (courtesy of Jamie Partridge), we see Saturn (control, authority) at 28 Leo, which sits right on top of the Leo Ascendant of the U.S. Tweeter-in-Chief. This suggests the P45 (and the U.S., by extension), is likely to experience North Korea as a major block or wet blanket on his fiery regal image. Reading Partridge’s most excellent write-up of the North Korea horoscope, this bit about Venus jumped out:
Venus generally rules peace and diplomacy, but in mundane astrology signifies war in hard aspect. In ancient Mesopotamia, she was the Goddess of Love and Procreation when the evening star, and the Goddess of War when the morning star. In the North Korea horoscope she is Goddess of War, visible before sunrise. The furthest she can ever be in front of the Sun is 48 degrees, so at 46 degrees ahead of the Sun in this chart, she is a very fired up Goddess Ishtar. “her morning appearance woke them up to go to war” [Deborah Houlding].
So an angry Venus woke the North Koreans up at half past two in the morning to go to war. The square from Mars, ruler of the military and war, turns her anger into blind fury. The lunar eclipse before the declaration of independence was at 03°17′ Scorpio, less than half a degree from the North Korean Mars. This increases the aggressive and reactionary nature of the country.
North Korea’s Venus is 0 degrees Leo. Where was the New Moon on July 23rd? 0 Leo! No wonder North Korea responded by announcing plans to strike Guam. Where will the next New Moon — also the Great American Eclipse — occur? On August 21st, at 28 Leo, right on North Korea’s 28 Leo Saturn…and, as noted in previous posts, on P45’s 26 Leo Mars and 29 Leo Ascendant. Do you have any planets at 0 Leo and/or 28 Leo? Would you like to know how the Aug 21st total solar eclipse may impact your own personal world? I am offering a special mini-reading to answer just that question for $44.88. Send me your date, place and time of birth and I will email you a brief write-up.
Meanwhile, it was revealed that on July 26th, the FBI conducted a pre-dawn raid on the home of Paul Manafort, looking for “tax documents and foreign banking records.” Glancing at the horoscope of Robert Mueller — time unknown — we see that his Venus at 26 Leo will be hit by the August 21st solar eclipse. This suggests an increase or decrease of effectiveness in relationship and/or financial concerns, so we’ll be watching the headlines carefully the first week of September. Without a birth time, we are limited to what we can anticipate. Mr. Mueller is a Leo with Moon in late Pisces or early Aries. His 14 degree Leo Sun was hit by this week’s Full Moon eclipse at 15 Leo/Aquarius. What else will be released in the aftermath?
In other news…. from Across the Pond. A source says that Queen Elizabeth plans to bypass Prince Charles. Prince William will become England’s next king, in a story that has NOT — let the record show — been picked up by mainstream papers. Thus we are inclined to chuck it in the rubbish bin labelled “Mercury Retrograde Rumors That Turn Out To Be Much Ado About Nothing On An All-Day Moon Void.”
But just as an exercise — and as a relief from writing about the mainstream media’s deplorable Usual Suspects — what do the horoscopes suggest? Last year we noted that the Queen’s horoscope would experience three hits of Uranus squaring her Capricorn Ascendant, suggesting potential break-ups, separations and a need for a fresh start in matters of self-worth and values. Those hits started in 2016 and continued into early 2017. Brexit fit that potential perfectly.
Meanwhile, according to today’s tabloid story, a palace insider said:
“Her Majesty realized that William and Kate are the future. She has spent 65 years making sure that the House of Windsor survives, and she sees William and Kate as having the energy and star quality to do the job in a modern world. Queen Elizabeth will always do what is best for the long-term health of the monarchy,”
When might this rumored transition of power happen? It’s interesting to note that transiting Uranus will conjunct the Queen’s Taurus Sun three times, starting in 2018. This suggests a need for freedom and independent expression, unconventional though it may be. We also see transiting Pluto conjunct Her Majesty’s Ascendant, starting in January of 2019, continuing through that year. This suggests a dramatic change of perspective in personal identity. We see another measurement between her Midheaven and Saturn exact in December 2018, suggesting a change in professional status and/or significant family development. Clearly the horoscope is ripe for continued change.
In Prince William’s horoscope, we see transiting Saturn conjunct his 27 Sagittarius Ascendant three times in 2017, suggesting a streamlining squeeze on his identity, enabling him to emerge at the end of it as “Prince William version 2.0”. Saturn will oppose his 0 degree Cancer Sun and 4 degree Cancer Moon, starting in January of 2018. More gravitas for sure. In 2018, transiting Uranus will oppose his 2 degree Scorpio Midheaven, suggesting a disruption in the family and in his professional status. That opposition occurs twice next summer: on July 23rd and August 28th, accompanied by another measurement between the Sun and Venus. Sun-Venus measurements suggest a focus on love, popularity, creativity and/or birth.
UPDATE: It was announced on September 4th that the Duchess of Cambridge and Prince William are expecting their third child. Huzzah!
What’s going on in Prince Charles’ horoscope? In 2018 transiting Uranus will conjunct his material comfort and stability-seeking Taurus Moon three times, suggesting an intense disruption. In 2019, transiting Uranus squares his regal Leo Ascendant, suggesting a fresh start. Uranus rules the area of the Prince’s life regarding relationships and the public. It’s interesting to note that the Midheaven in Prince William’s horoscope is hit in 2018 — a year before the hits to the Queen and Prince Charles.
UPDATE: Soon after this forecast posted, Avid Reader Patricia wrote to set the record straight:
I love all the info about the Queen. Unfortunately she can’t give the crown straight to William bypassing Charles because in England titles and the crown go to the next in line. Nobody gets to choose who gets it next, it’s birth order. If it ever happened it would be because Charles died or has become mentally or physically impaired. Also the only way we would find out is the Prime Minister announcing it in Parliament. The laws in England are somewhat rigid when it comes to inheritance and after the whole what they term “nightmare” of the abdication of her uncle, who became the Duke of Windsor, the Royal family are somewhat skittish in this area.
Patricia is English and therefore someone who ought to Know About These Things. Thank you, Patricia for writing and helping me make a point about taking at face value a story that makes news during a Moon void and/or a Mercury Retrograde. Remember this when reading the headlines between now and September 5th!
Meanwhile, in the Land of Enchantment (New Mexico), it is ever so peaceful and quiet…so, so quiet. During the day in the middle of nowhere, there is not a sound to be heard. It reminds me of the haunting opening of the movie Contact, as the camera pulls back from Earth through our solar system, finally surpassing the reach of audio transmission beaming out from this ‘big, blue marble. Silence can be such a balm for the senses and the soul. I hope you will take time to tune in to this perspective as a necessary break from the tension of these”interesting times.”
Thank you for reading this forecast.

Moon entered Cancer at 8:57PM ET on Tuesday, driving today and tomorrow with a focus on home/homeland and emotional security concerns. What will best nourish you over the next couple of days?
An easy alignment between the Moon and Venus at 5:44AM ET gets the day off to an agreeable start, and a rose-colored alignment between Moon and Neptune at 3:10PM ET may add to the glow. At 4:26PM ET, Jupiter and Pluto will be in a significant easy alignment (a trine), facilitating reward and empowerment, especially if you have a planet or angle around 17 degrees of just about any sign, but especially the Earth Signs (Virgo, Taurus, Capricorn) and the Mutable Signs (Virgo, Pisces, Gemini, Sagittarius). 17 Leo and 17 Aquarius…maybe not so much. Paul Ryan has transiting Jupiter sitting right on his 17 Virgo Midheaven, and this week John Boehner suggested nominating Speaker Ryan at the Republican Convention in mid-July. Jupiter will have just hit Ryan’s Midheaven for the third time, and transiting Uranus with be opposing his Libra Moon, potentially intensifying needs for personal fulfillment. Interesting.
On Thursday, Moon makes its weekly clash with Pluto and Uranus at 4:08AM and 7:39AM ET, so we can expect a jolt or power play to make headlines or disrupt your own personal world if your horoscope is directly affected. An easy alignment between Mercury and Moon facilitates a flow of communication at 12:17PM ET. Then it’s clear sailing for the rest of the day. Moon goes void at 12:09AM ET on Friday, entering Leo at 3:54AM ET. Party on dudes, like it’s the End of the World, as the Sun enters the last degrees of Pisces. Cue R.E.M. now, please.
And now, the news.
President Obama is scheduled to announce his pick for the Supreme Court today at 11AM ET. One of the possible nominees — currently considered the “likeliest” — is Sri Srinivasan, who now sits on the U.S. Court of Appeals in D.C. I looked at his available birth data (2/23/67 in Chandigarh, India) a few weeks ago. Pisces Sun; Moon in regal Leo. Seven out of ten planets in Water Signs, reflecting the predominance of Water in current planetary patterns. Uranus at 23 Virgo; Pluto at 19 Virgo; both of these triggered by transiting Jupiter in Virgo in recent months. Jupiter in contact with Uranus and/or Pluto suggests expanded resources and “lucky” breaks. We’ll see very soon how lucky he will be today. Donald Trump’s Uranus is at 17 Gemini, currently charged by transiting Jupiter.
UPDATE: President Obama picked the Other Contender, Merrick Garland, who looks a lot like most of the people in the Senate. Will that help? Sun in Scorpio; Libra Moon, like John Boehner. His Jupiter is at 15 Taurus, and will be hit twice by transiting Jupiter between now and mid-June. That can be lucky. Three planets in his horoscope will be intensified by transiting Uranus in May, along with transiting Saturn conjoining his natal Mercury at 14 Sagittarius in May and November. That can be heavy. So the month of May is looking hot and heavy for Mr. Garland (November 13, 1952 in Chicago — no birth time).
Meanwhile, North Korea continues to make headlines. Using astrologer Jamie Partridge’s proposed birth time of 12:39PM, we see transiting Mars at 3 Sagittarius just crossing North Korea’s Moon and Ascendant at 2 Sagittarius. We’d expect action, potentially in an aggressive/assertive vein, as noted on Monday. Yesterday it added more fuel to the fire by sentencing an American college student to 15 years hard labor — for “allegedly attempting to steal a political banner” from a Pyongyang hotel.
What a nightmare, and one might shudder to think how a President Donald Trump would handle this diplomatic crisis. Otto Warmbier, the unfortunate young man, was born December 12th, 1994, presumably near Cincinnati — no birth time available. The horoscope has a volatile T-square pattern among Mars, Jupiter-Pluto and Saturn. It was triggered — and continues to be triggered — by transiting Mars. This can be aggressive. Mr. Warmbier has an idealistic Sun in Sagittarius conjunct Mercury; the Moon is in impulsive Aries — possibly being hit now by Pluto and/or Uranus, suggesting upsets and prominence.
It’s not surprising to see the astro-logical connections between Mr. Warmbier and North Korea. His volatile T-square is in provocative contact with North Korea’s Moon, Ascendant and Saturn. We can see how North Korea might react sensitively and harshly to an imagined slight on the part of Mr. Warmbier. His Pluto square to North Korea’s Saturn suggests an added dose of brutality. Sigh.
When assessing the potential success of a political candidate, astrologers often look at the relationship between the candidate’s horoscope and the horoscope of the country/state/city the candidate hopes to lead. Barack Obama’s 18 Aquarius Ascendant conjoins the U.S.’s Aquarius Moon; his 1 degree Venus is conjunct the U.S. Venus at 2 Cancer; we expect a personal, potentially caring connection.
How does Donald Trump’s horoscope connect with the U.S.? What jumps out immediately is Trump’s 22 Gemini Sun and 21 Sagittarius Moon in almost exact contact with the U.S.’s delusional Mars-Neptune square. His 17 Gemini Uranus adds a potentially reckless spin to an already wiggy combination. Trump feeds right into one possible manifestation of the U.S.’s charged need for romanticized, gun-slinging cowboys.
So what about Bernie Sanders? Yup. His 19 Gemini Jupiter makes contact with the U.S. Mars-Neptune square, too — amplifying another facet of the American Dream. Many critics argue he is too “pie in the sky”. Other aspects between Sanders and the U.S. suggest, however, a stimulating intellectual rapport and a call to action. Hillary Clinton? Remember we do not have a confirmed birth time. If we use the 8:02AM chart, her 22 Pisces Moon ties into the U.S. Mars-Neptune square. Both proposed horoscopes would have her natal Mars-Pluto conjunction at 14 Leo almost exactly at the cusp of the U.S. 4th House (homeland security). Mars-Pluto can be a ruthless warrior. And you wonder why Mrs. Clinton is perceived as such a hawk…

UPDATE: on my market research project involving Avid Reader feedback on why most do not follow through on their noble impulse to show appreciation for the time and effort put into making this forecast possible. As a result of last week’s post, a whopping SEVENTY people clicked on the suggested guidelines. How cool is that? The jury is still out, given that only four — yup — just four — Avid Readers followed through. I’m trying not to take it personally, while expressing much gratitude for what is, not for what could be.
The silver lining was that Avid Reader Diane signed into PayPal and arranged for $6 to be charged to her credit card each month (less PayPal’s 50-cent cut). What genius! So I updated the suggested guidelines accordingly. What do you think — $1.50 per week — is that too much to ask? I’d like to keep this forecast open to all who might stumble upon it in Google searches, which is why I’ve resisted the notion of locking it up behind a paywall, as many news sites do. It’s fun to be stumbled upon. I welcome your thoughts…
Meanwhile…
A huge joy of writing this forecast (for seven years!) is that it has connected me so many amazing people I never would have met otherwise! One is Avid Reader Karen, a gifted artist and all-around lovely soul. This week we were discussing her horoscope (she gave me permission to tell you that), and her latest artistic inspiration. It is so lovely and so appropriate for today’s nurturing, fertile Cancer Moon and sensitive, intuitive Pisces Sun, that I asked if I could share it with you. The rose is white — one of the colors of Cancer. The birds are crows — magical and oh-so-smart. And all of that gold!!
Take a look at this beautiful image — and note these words:
Our acceptance of annunciations is a personal and private awareness: a gathering of our own connections, a drowning out of consensus reality.
…which echo a bottom-line symbolism of last week’s New Moon, expressed so well by Sabian Symbol guru Blain Bovee:
…if one is never one’s own master, there is danger of being swept away by the strong current of someone else’s take on things.
I’m thinking Avid Reader Karen’s visions would be awesome if painted on the inside of a dome. If you happen to need a dome painted beautifully, or know someone who does, get in touch with Karen.
Thank you for reading this forecast.
Happy Start of the Work Week!
Monday is driven by the Moon in Gemini, which can be quite the pixie chatterbox in its quest to keep you informed and entertained. Today the pixie-ness may be subdued by a challenge to mental Mercury from Saturn at 3:26PM ET. This suggests a need for gravitas in thought and communication, as well as a potential need to push through blocks and limitations if need be.
How receptive the other party is to your persuasion may be tempered by a charged aspect at 4:48PM ET between Venus (feeling quite sensitive in Pisces) and Mars (needing to push boundaries in Sagittarius). If you’ve noticed any tension between the sexes in your own personal world, you may have a planet or point in the very early part of Pisces, Virgo, Gemini and Sagittarius. Or you just might happen to be a divorce lawyer.
As the evening approaches, the Gemini Moon bounces off three planets in two hours: first by a potential chill or push forward by taskmaster Saturn at 8:54PM ET; second, by a challenge to Mercury in Pisces (striving to make verbal sense of how it feels about it) and third, by a challenge to Jupiter in Virgo (needing to expand on every little detail) at 10:51PM ET. Are things up or down, that is the question.
By the time you wake up on Tuesday, your mind may have a deeper understanding of whatever heavy matter landed on Monday’s plate. Gravitas may be replaced with an exuberant or excessive release as Mercury challenges Jupiter at 5:42AM ET. It then hits 19 degrees of Pisces — triggering the degree of last week’s New Moon/Solar Eclipse. Who’s most likely to be affected by a potential release or realization? People with planets halfway through Virgo, Gemini, Sagittarius and Pisces.
For added clarity, consider the challenge you may receive to your New Moon agenda around 1:03PM ET on Tuesday, as the First Quarter Moon energizes the day and then goes void until 8:57PM ET. Roll with whatever twists may crop up in your efforts to move forward in a straight line; focus on routine concerns. Chill out over crises that may arise; a Moon void usually suggests it’s much ado about nothing. Use that note to put First Quarter Moon challenges in perspective.
There will be no other Moon voids during business hours for the rest of the work week. On Wednesday we’ll have the second of three easy alignments between Jupiter (expansion) and Pluto (power & resources), exact at 4:26PM ET. The first in this series happened on October 11th; the third will be on June 26th. We may see a re-think of issues that were up in October, along with more stories about power and resources, especially energy resources such as oil, gas and nuclear. Early last week, when the Sun made contact with Saturn, Pluto and Jupiter withing a two-day span, I noted a strong uptick in stories in that vein, especially the last one.
This is the last week of the Sun in Pisces, the end of the astrological year. On Sunday at 12:31AM ET, Sun enters Aries and it all begins anew. Pisces can wallow in endings, sometimes…forgetting that a new spark is just around the corner.
And now, the news.
Today’s Mercury-Saturn and Venus-Mars squares can be grumpy. I wouldn’t pick this day for a wedding, even with Venus shining so brightly in compassionate Pisces. Over at Facebook, there’s a whole Department of Compassion striving to make relationship break-ups and other endings less painful, reports the NYT. And look what I found when trying to retrieve that Facebook story. This headline: “Martin Sabo, Minnesota Congressman Known for Compassion During Era of Partisanship, Dies at 78” That story just hit the wires. Congressman Sabo was a Pisces — born February 28, 1936:
“I’ve always believed the fundamental problem with politics today are people who over-promise and overstate. I’ve tried to do the opposite,” Mr. Sabo said. “I’ve also tried to treat my colleagues with respect. I don’t recall ever making a public statement critical of my colleague, whether it’s Democrat or Republican.”
He was thought of as “understated,” which we could expect with his Pisces Sun conjunct sobering Saturn, both blurred somewhat by contact with Neptune.
As for stories of power and resources, some are more hopeful than others. Hopeful: a father-daughter team proposes an innovative way to re-charge electric cars by having them drive on electric roads. Not hopeful: North Korea saying it has the capacity to hit New York with a hydrogen bomb. North Korea has been making quite a bit of news in recent weeks. It declared its independence on September 9, 1948 — Sun at 16 Virgo square to Jupiter at 19 Sagittarius, suggesting a potentially bombastic, excessive need for ego aggrandizement. Transiting Jupiter is making contact with this square now for the second time, and both planets were affected by last week’s eclipse. Interesting to see that North Korea has a provocative square between Mars in potentially brutal Scorpio and Venus in drama king Leo, echoing the Mars-Venus square that is exact today. Not only that, but North Korea’s Mercury is conjunct visionary/delusional Neptune, another patterns we’ve experienced in recent days.
Astrologer Jamie Partridge has proposed a birth time for North Korea of 12:39PM in Pyongyang, which would give a Midheaven of 17 Virgo — conjunct the Sun and square Jupiter — thus exacerbating the need for aggrandizement. This would also give North Korea a Sagittarius Moon, just like Donald Trump. This suggests a need to push boundaries and — more important — have its opinion respected. Ya think?
Yesterday the NY Times ran a lengthy piece striving to analyze why Mr. Trump is the way he is and why he does what he does. It concluded with this obvious-to-any-skilled-astrologer fact, adding that what was motivating Mr. Trump to run now was a “desire to be taken seriously”. Which is what was noted in detail in this forecast back in early August (and in less detail even earlier). Still, the chronology of events in the NYT article is a mesmerizing read. I was especially struck by this point:
In 2014, he cut a quarter-million dollar check to the Republican Governors Association, in response to a personal entreaty from the group’s chairman — Chris Christie.
I wonder if there’s any connection between that check and Governor Christie recent endorsement of Mr. Trump. I wonder if the media could forget about the zillions of dollars of revenue Trump has generated, and decide it has a moral obligation to give him as much attention as it gave…oh…Jim Webb, George Pataki, Lincoln Chafee or Jim Gilmore. What would happen then?
Meanwhile, reflecting the information junkie buzz of today’s Gemini Moon, along with other aforementioned provocative patterns, a reporter at Breitbart and her editor resigned from the conservative news outlet. Why? Because the reporter alleges she was assaulted by Mr. Trump’s campaign manager (witnessed by a reporter at the Washington Post). The reporter — Michelle Fields — felt her employer did not stand by her.
On a lighter note, today — 3/14/16 — is Pi Day. Here is a puzzle for you to solve, courtesy of The Guardian.
If the puzzle makes your head hurt, consider that while today may be Albert Einstein’s birthday, it is also DJ Rick Dees’s birthday. Quack if you remember his ’70s hit, “Disco Duck” .
Thank you for reading this forecast. Here’s the 411 on personal consultations. We will have a most excellent discussion together.
