"I'm a skeptic by nature and I still don't know how she does it, but Elisabeth told me more about myself and about critical points in my life than she could've known beforehand or can possibly be dismissed as coincidence or a parlor trick. And she helped me to use this as a framework to analyze the here and now more clearly. The session was definitely a positive, eye-opening experience."

Astro-logical Forecast for Tuesday 11/11/2014: Power Plays & Such

The Cancer Moon’s need for emotional security may be rattled in the wee hours as it makes its weekly clash with the disruptive Uranus-Pluto square, and suffers a aggressive challenge from Mars. Attention is advised behind the wheel and in the handling of any sharp objects, including your tongue.

Dust settles after 5AM ET  and as the day progresses, a sense of inspired balance is suggested, courtesy of a lovely connection between Mercury and Neptune. Brainstorming, anyone? Note your intuition and other flashes of insight. Ship it today or mind the Moon void on Wednesday  between 4:16AM ET and 1:44PM ET; that’s the time to chill out and focus on routine business matters.

Once the Moon enters Leo, on Wednesday afternoon, a serious focus on relationship is suggested by a meet-up between Venus (money, love, art, women) and Saturn (discipline, structure, business) at 8:02PM ET. Minutes later, at 8:29PM ET, warrior Mars clashes with rebel Uranus and adds a element of surprising upset to the night.

In case you haven’t heard, I’m hoping to barter astrological services in exchange for a good projector.  I plan to be doing more teaching and workshops in 2015, and I need self-sufficient technology for my presentations. Many thanks to my awesome webmaster Mark Marshall at Interage for noticing the link to my example of a good projector did not work and taking the initiative to build a special host page for it before I even realized there was a problem. Did I mention Mark is awesome? You are also awesome if you have a projector you’re not using and would like to make a trade, with gratitude.

And now, the news.

I promised we’d see some power plays — and some of these are left over from yesterday’s headlines. First, the new Senate majority is vowing to take on the E.P.A. and move ahead on plans to build the controversial Keystone pipeline. You can read the straight news article or let Gail Collins cheerfully explain the situation. Then you can read how Denmark is on track to completely eliminate fossil fuels from its energy diet by 2050 — and weep.

Meanwhile, President Obama made a statement on net neutrality today, recommending that the internet be regulated as if it were a public utility. Which makes sense when you consider that it was built with taxpayer dollars, right? Not at all, according to Senator Ted Cruz, who tweeted, ‘”Net Neutrality’ is Obamacare for the Internet; the Internet should not operate at the speed of government”. Which makes sense when you consider that in Mr. Cruz’s horoscope we immediately see mental Mercury squared by his natal Uranus, suggesting a need to think in ways that might be deemed brilliant, eccentric or simply mad. And this natal square is being supercharged by the Uranus-Pluto square into early spring, suggesting quite a buzz and a need to communicate persuasively and prominently. Keep watching the headlines.

In other news, newly re-elected Governor Scott Walker of Wisconsin is wasting no time applying the empowered perspective suggested by current transits in his horoscope and “teasing” a presidential run in 2016. In another power play, he announced a plan to require recipients of food stamps and other state assistance to submit to mandatory drug testing, even though a similar plan in Florida failed miserably and wasted taxpayer funds before being ruled unconstitutional. For me, it was this news item that brought this week’s  Tarot Card (presented by Beth Owlsdaughter) poignantly to life. Why doesn’t this plan require drug testing for everyone who is supported by Wisconsin taxpayer dollars, including the state’s elected officials?

Turning now to statesman Dennis Rodman and his horoscope, which we last looked at in December of 2013. Planetary patterns suggested he was on top of his game back then, with a “dramatic change of identity perspective and a need for empowered social expression” on deck for 2014-15.  And there was Mr. Rodman on TMZ a couple of days ago, holding a copy of a letter he says was sent to Kim Jong-il, pleading for the release of Kenneth Bae, an American being held captive in North Korea. Coincidence or conspiracy? Mr. Bae was released over the weekend, and the Washington Post has the official version of the story.

For some reason, yesterday’s link to Matt Taibbi’s Rolling Stone interview with JP Morgan Chase whistleblower Alayne Fleischmann did not function as designed.  Here is another version of that page-turner, posted on Truthout.
