"The reading was a partnership between the two of us; she did not simply recite planetary signs and meanings, but had a conversation with me, continually asking what I made of what she saw, and what I thought I could do to change the things I want to change.

When the names of other people in my life came up, she quickly looked up their charts on her computer and commented on their roles in my life -- painting a fuller picture of where I was, where I wanted to go, and how I could get there.

What was impressive was that Elisabeth took all the planets, people, and situations that made up my life and created a context for them all that was positive, hopeful, and exciting!

She has a lovely personality, a sharp wit, and a gift for astrological interpretation."

Monday 2/25/2019: Sneak Peek at the Week; Oscars Wrap; Mercury Retrograde Alert

Good Morning!

The work week begins with a long void of course Moon in Scorpio, starting at 7:14 AM ET and ending at 4:19 PM ET. If you are new to this forecast and not familiar with the term Moon void, here’s a handy link. Basically, a Moon void suggests a higher than usual probability of flakes and twists that may disrupt your efforts to move forward in a straight line. There can be an unusual lack of focus, which is why you dumped cold water over your coffee beans and then realized you forgot to grind them. Stick to routine tasks; don’t get carried away by a crisis, as those “emergencies” have a strange way of vaporizing once the Moon engages in the next sign. If you sleep in late, no worries. If you cancel an appointment — or someone cancels on you, chill.

When the Moon enters Sagittarius at 4:19 PM ET, see if you notice how the mood lightens. A Sag Moon has an opinion to express, the bigger the better. It will drive the energy of the day through Wednesday with a need for optimism and boundary-pushing. Get out in nature. Take in a foreign film, or just play tourist in your usual ‘hood. The rest of the week goes like this:

  • TUESDAY — Third Quarter Moon exact at 6:28 AM ET, as the Pisces Moon is squared by the Sag Moon. Challenges and advances on the New Moon agenda for this cycle are in order. You’ll feel it more personally if you have a planet or angle around 7 degrees of Pisces, Sag, Gemini or Virgo. The evening may be dreamy or confusing, suggested by a challenging contact between the Moon and Neptune.
  • WEDNESDAY — An exuberant or exaggerated start to the day, courtesy of a meet-up between the Moon and Jupiter, which seeks to expand whatever it touches, for better or worse. The day may end with a clash of opinion/communication, suggested by a square between the Moon and Mercury, exact at 8:10 PM ET. A cooperative contact between the Sun (leaders, willpower) and Mars (action, courage, aggression) is in effect all week, exact at 9:33 PM ET. It will color the summit between The Donald and Kim Jong-un, scheduled for today and tomorrow in Hanoi. Meanwhile, Michael Cohen is scheduled to testify before the House — in an open hearing.
  • THURSDAY — after a Moon void of less than an hour, Moon enters Capricorn, looking to translate high-flying opinions into concrete accomplishments. Time to take care of business for the next couple of days, assisted by a proactive Moon making supportive contacts with Uranus (innovation), Mars (action) and the Sun. What could go wrong?
  • FRIDAY — what could go “wrong” — if only in a surprising or unconventional expression, is a potential disruption in social expression and values. This is suggested by a tense pattern between Venus and rebel Uranus, exact at 7:31 AM ET. This is not a “bad” pattern; it merely suggests that what will pull our focus includes unconventional attractions and rebellious expressions — most notably in matters related to women, money, art and technology. It’s in effect all week. At 11:45 AM ET, Venus leaves social-climbing Capricorn for “who’s yer buddy” Aquarius. Social expression becomes less strategic, more inclusive — until March 27th. If you’re an Aquarius, your popularity may see a spike over the next few weeks. Huzzah. The rest of the day on Friday includes a sobering meet-up between the Moon and Saturn at 1:23 PM ET, followed by the Moon’s weekly emotional power play/catharsis as it meets up with Pluto at 10:48 PM ET. Another interesting late afternoon news dump…
  • SATURDAYMoon enters Aquarius at 2:06 PM ET, after a 20 minute void — no biggies. Moon squares Uranus at 1:47 PM ET, delivering a potential flash of recognition or shock to the system. A friendly meet-up between Venus and the Moon at 5:03 PM ET sets the mood for your Saturday night date.  You are free to shop all weekend — unless you’re shopping for electronics and other mechanical devices. That’s because Mercury will turn retrograde next TUESDAY, MARCH 5TH at 1:19 PM ET, as any Avid Reader who ordered my Really Useful Mercury Retrograde Survival Guide Bookmark will know (yes, I still have plenty available — email me for details). BACK UP YOUR COMPUTERS AND GIZMOS NOW. Mercury will be retrograde until March 28th — I will be reminding you again later this week.

And now, the post-Oscar news.

Did you watch? I thought the production design was oh-so Scorpio, Capricorn and Pisces: deep, dark colors, not too fussy, except for the truckloads of Swarovski crystals (thank you, Neptune in Pisces). The red carpet fashions reflected as much, with the added unconventional shock reflecting a supercharged Venus (aesthestics) with Pluto, Uranus and more. The streamlined no-host approach worked just fine, with a notably diverse line-up of presenters.

Barbra Streisand’s presentation of BlackkKlansman‘s Best Picture nomination surprised many, but should not have surprised Avid Readers, who were advised last year that Ms. Streisand is on a roll that continues at least through 2019. So stay tuned. “Shallow” won Best Original Song and Lady Gaga‘s “supernaturally intimate” duet with Bradley Cooper was anything but. Lady Gaga is an Aries with Moon in Scorpio, doncha’ know; nothing shallow about her. Bradley Cooper is a Capricorn with Moon in Libra; according to this proposed birth time, transiting Pluto is all over that Libra Moon this year; that can be emotionally intense and empowering.

Glenn Close pulled focus in a 42-pound gold dress made of over 3 million glass beads (so perfect for her Leo Ascendant) — and then attracted further attention by not taking home an Oscar. Spike Lee pulled focus with his excited reaction to winning for Best Adapted Screenplay, an attention-grabbing acceptance speech and his subsequent diss of Green Book, which won for Best Picture. In this Moon void “much ado about nothing” day, his speech continues to be talked about, by some reflecting the nasty and vindictive side of Scorpio. So here is what Spike Lee actually said:

The word today is “irony.” The date, the 24th. The month, February, which also happens to be the shortest month of the year, which also happens to be Black History month. The year, 2019. The year, 1619. History. Her story. 1619. 2019. 400 years.

Four hundred years. Our ancestors were stolen from Mother Africa and bought to Jamestown, Virginia, enslaved. Our ancestors worked the land from can’t see in the morning to can’t see at night. My grandmother, [inaudible], who lived to be 100 years young, who was a Spelman College graduate even though her mother was a slave. My grandmother who saved 50 years of social security checks to put her first grandchild — she called me Spikie-poo — she put me through Morehouse College and N.Y.U. grad film. N.Y.U.!

Before the world tonight, I give praise to our ancestors who have built this country into what it is today along with the genocide of its native people. We all connect with our ancestors. We will have love and wisdom regained, we will regain our humanity. It will be a powerful moment. The 2020 presidential election is around the corner. Let’s all mobilize. Let’s all be on the right side of history. Make the moral choice between love versus hate. Let’s do the right thing! You know I had to get that in there.

Spike Lee was born on March 20, 1957 in Atlanta. We do not have a birth time, and I’m kicking myself for not asking when I saw him at a screening earlier this year (not that he would have told me). If he was born before 10:50 AM, he is a Pisces driven by a Scorpio Moon. If born between 10:50 AM ET and 4 PM ET, he is a Pisces, driven by a Sagittarius Moon. If born after 4:25 PM ET, he is an Aries, driven by a Sagittarius Moon. What do you think?  He was dressed head to toe in purple last night; that should give us a hint.  This is what astrologers do in their spare time…

We do not have a birth time for Olivia Colman, whose Best Actress win was a surprise to many who felt Glenn Close was long overdue. Here are 20 things you did not know about her, and the quirkiness is certainly seen in Ms. Colman’s horoscope (Venus square Uranus; probably Moon opposing Uranus, too). How fascinating to see is that her Saturn (structure, control) at 28 Gemini exactly squares Ms. Close’s 28 Pisces Sun. Yep, that aspect can put a damper on a relationship…

What’s going on in your relationships — with your children, your boss, your sister or any other significant other? Astrology is a powerful tool for helping you understand the connections (or lack thereof), and what you can do to facilitate communication and harmony between you. Here’s the 411.
