Astro-logical Forecast for Wednesday 12/15/2010

Moon is still in me-me-me Aries this AM…with the only exact aspect being a potential downer of a confrontation between our desire to do whatever we want and some Other smacking us in the face with a wet blanket. Feh! The Moon is waxing, along with an intensity of enthusiasm and emotion. Be alert!

Reports from the field suggest that the charged connections among Mars (action), Pluto (ruthless power), Mercury (mind, words) and Moon (feelings) yesterday manifested as anticipated. I heard plenty of stories of tempers flaring, brutally honest truths uttered, irritability and an overwhelming focus on the needs of oneself to exclusion of consideration for all others. We saw in the headlines news of shootings (out West), fatal storms (Canada), a possible serial killer in New York and all kinds of power battles over control of the media (calls for censorship, etc.), as a result of continued fallout over Wikileaks and Julian Assange (or perhaps we should say, “over the embarrassment of fearless leaders being caught looking like — (fill in the blank)” I expect more of the same today.

So. Did anything GOOD happen? Of course! The energy symbolized by planetary patterns can be expressed either for good or not so good. WE decide. WE choose. If energy is being suppressed, however, chances are stronger that the energy will get backed up and then explode in not so pleasant ways. A serial killer, for example, must have a LOT of suppressed energy…or so I’m thinking. Yes? That guy/gal…and a lot of other people…right?

Mars and Pluto, when combined, can have an intensely sexual charge. No surprise then, to note that yesterday it was announced that a patient has been cured of AIDS, a sexually-transmitted disease http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/12/14/hiv-cure-berlin-patient_n_796521.html And that’s pretty darn positive! So if you got down with your significant other…or just worked it all out at the gym…or if you kept focused on a creative project you hope will change the world, then you’re turning what many see as a worrisome combination into something productive. Use your awareness to CHANGE YOUR BEHAVIOR. That’s what you CAN control!

Reminder: people born with planets in the early degrees/days of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn are ESPECIALLY sensitive right now. Give them space and a break…lest they break something around them. Hmmm. I’ve got two planets and my rising sign in that zone of the zodiac. Maybe that’s why I’ve been using SO MANY CAPS in this forecast! : )

Astro-logical Forecast for Monday 12/6/2010 & the New Moon in Sagittarius

Happy New Moon in Sagittarius, which was exact yesterday at 12:36PM NY time. The meeting of Sun and Moon happened in my 12th house, suggesting I might have been more inclined to retreat from the world in contemplation. That’s my excuse for this delayed forecast. What’s yours?  Frankly, with all planets moving forward in the sky as of 8:51 PM NY time yesterday, there are no excuses for not moving forward, at least for the next three days, when Mercury goes retrograde.  Until then, go!

Sagittarius is the Archer, aiming his bow toward the sky. Ruled by expansive, usually optimistic Jupiter, Sagittarius is all about  “big picture” ideas, especially ones we share collectively: our philosophy, our religion, our laws, as well as ideas shared in publishing and broadcasting.  Sag is also interested in higher education and travel that broadens our horizons, as opposed to elementary school and local travel that gets us from here to the grocery store (that’s the domain of Gemini, the opposite sign to Sag).

Last month I wrote we would likely see themes of laying down lines of communication that could take us in to the unknown, out of our comfort zone. Examples of how this manifested in the headlines included the new TSA alleged security procedures and the latest batch of Wikileaks revelations. The Sabian Symbol for this New Moon at 14 degrees of Sagittarius is “the Pyramids and the Sphinx: an enigma, a hidden mystery that is inscrutable, defying close examination; a riddle, the answer to which cannot be spoken.”  Hmmm. Mystery…and yet I also note in the New Moon chart a close connection between Mercury (mind, travel, communication) and ruthless Pluto, which suggests an intense focus on the investigation of mystery and bringing hidden agendas to light. OK…so how do we apply this to our lives over the next 30 days?

This is an opportunity to broaden horizons, individually and collectively.  Where is that happening in your life? Here are some possible strategies for navigating new territory: seek to understand this area of expansion with a wisdom that goes beyond words. How do you know what you know? Use words carefully, incisively, sparingly — with a specific target in mind. Consider whether words are even necessary, especially given that Mercury will be retrograde from the 10th to the 29th, when words can easily spin out of control or be misunderstood. Consider how maintaining an aura of mystery might strengthen your position. Notice any tension between mystery and brutal honesty. What is really at stake?

With gratitude to Blain Bovee and his book “The Sabian Symbols and Astrological Analysis,” which helped me articulate a forecast for this inscrutable  New Moon; Julian Assange seems to be its poster boy; if I can find his horoscope, I’ll write about it anon

Astro-logical Forecast for Monday 11/29/2010

Daily readers of this forecast may recall that in my post about the New Moon on November 6th, I noted that three planets: Mars (action!), Saturn (control) and Pluto (transformation, perspective, underground, exposure), were not connected to any other planets in the New Moon chart, suggesting that whatever was associated with those planets would be “running wild” during this cycle, and that we would see this reflected in the headlines. Mars  and Saturn did hook up during the middle of the month, but Pluto has continued to “run wild” and will continue to be wild until tomorrow.

So. What have we seen in the headlines that reflects the ruthless, corruption-exposing, potentially explosive, often power-mad, underground rumblings of Pluto running wild? A sampling over the past three weeks includes: Miners killed in New Zealand, concerns about the safety of dental X-rays raised here in the US, a deadly stampede in Cambodia, the recent deadly conflict between North and South Korea, the new TSA security measures involving X-rays and invasive pat-downs (of body areas ruled by Pluto), and to top it all off, the latest Wikileaks exposure of diplomatic machinations that hit the wires yesterday. Coincidence or conspiracy?

Today we can expect another wave of information overload and big ideas generated by a dynamic connection between action-oriented Mars in opinionated Sagittarius and expansive Jupiter in all-encompassing Pisces. Got a feeling you wanna get off your chest? You’ve got until 7:35PM NY time to find a people-pleasing way to express it; Venus, which relates to our social expression, moves forward into Scorpio for over a month-long stay, starting this evening. Remember the Venus in Scorpio mantra, “If I be waspish, best beware my sting.” OK, perhaps I’m exaggerating just a bit, but that’s right in line with today’s aforementioned connection between Mars and Jupiter. ; )
