Astro-logical Forecast for Friday 9/25/2015 & the Weekend; Full Moon in Aries; Total Lunar Eclipse

TGIF!!

Moon is void of course in humanitarian Aquarius until 3:44PM ET. Combined with Mercury retrograde, here we have a major chill opportunity. Whatever crazy rumor — or craze — that occupies the Internet today is likely much ado about nothing, as pleasant or intriguing an escape it might be. Like a dress that is either blue and black…or white and gold — remember that Moon void obsession? Stick to routine matters — or follow the Pope as he continues to take New York by storm. Go with the flow of whatever twists that may derail your efforts to move forward in a straight line.

After 3:44PM ET, Moon shifts gear into Pisces. This is an emotional drive that needs to identify what is ideal. Compassion, intuition and soulful co-mingling can be a Pisces thing. So is vulnerability and faith. This sensitivity may be subject to a particularly militant, explosive or frustrating influence, as the Moon is challenged by action hero Mars and wet blanket Saturn at 4:30PM and 4:40PM ET, respectively. But wait, there’s more.

At 9:12PM ET Mars clashes directly with Saturn. You may be feeling the push to move things forward forcefully if you have a planet or angle at the very beginning of Virgo, Pisces, Sagittarius or Gemini. Fine, so long as you’re not beating yourself up…or the person sitting next to you. People born with Mars square Saturn in their horoscopes can be fiercely determined and disciplined. So can cats…and I know, because I had one with this aspect. She took her work on Planet Earth very seriously.

Note your dreams upon waking on Saturday, as the Moon hooks up with nebulous Neptune at 4:11 AM ET. Moon goes void at 12:32 PM ET on a regenerating contact with Pluto. Skip the yard sales and shopping malls; wander where you will; note that lush emotions are on the rise, as on Sunday we’ll have…

…the Moon void continue in Pisces until 3:29PM ET. How lovely for sleeping in! The pace picks up noticeably when it shifts into me-me-me Aries, trying to fulfill its need to be Number One within the constructs of a relationship. The relationship part is the Libra Sun. Hmmm. Its quest is stabilized by constructive Saturn at 4:30PM ET, but fiery emotions continue waxing Full — and are totally eclipsed at 10:50PM ET.

Eclipses interrupt the regular flow of light and whatever other energy flows from the Sun or the Moon, like a river meeting a dam. This creates a bottleneck of energy that must eventually find a release, usually over the course of a few months’ time. In the case of this eclipse, the time frame is about five and half months.

Eclipses often highlight an area of life where something needs to be brought to a close. Wherever the eclipse falls in your horoscope is where you can expect a bottleneck, followed by a release, likely of an emotional nature. The bottleneck is an opportunity to gather your resources and/or forces before the release. Since the normal flow is disrupted, the opportunity is ripe for changing the flow. That can be a very good thing, as new opportunities are presented. It can also be experienced as quite an ordeal, if the karma cops are behind what is being shut down.

Look for 5 Aries (Moon)/5 Libra (Sun) in your chart and take note of the house which contains it, and planets or angles that are near it. Then write down these dates: November 12th and November 20th, and see if anything is triggered — especially the 20th.  As an exercise, if you have planets around 5 Capricorn and 5 Cancer, you, too, can take note.  Consult your local astrologer for further details.

For further insight on the potential significance of this Full Moon/Eclipse, we turn to Sabian Symbol Guru Blaine Bovee. His take on these cryptic Symbols is so appreciated. For the Moon at 5 Aries: “a triangle with wings”; for the Sun at 5 Libra: “a man teaching true inner knowledge”.

Bovee suggests the triangle represents  “an idealized form of transcendence”. The “man” seems self-explanatory, but how interesting to see “true inner knowledge” appear when Mercury is retrograde. You’re all supposed to be tuning in for information when the Messenger Planet appears to be moving backwards in the sky.

I also find it fascinating that the idea of transcendence is connected to the Aries Symbol, as Aries is all about the self! Equally fascinating is the idea of “true inner knowledge” — or self-knowledge — connected with the Libra Symbol, as Libra is all about partnership!

Bovee suggests we apply these Symbols with a mind to “a creative ease with which personal affinities rise to express one’s true self; getting to know who one really is…not being ruled by others…guiding, not dominating…being comfortable about not quite being in the social picture…being oneself and getting away with it.” I expect to see a few breakouts and breakthroughs for people whose horoscopes are directly affected by this lunar eclipse…and perhaps a breakdown, too. Until, look up in the sky tonight — you can see the eclipse from most anywhere.

And now, the news.

Pluto squares Mercury and digs up dirt; Pluto turns direct; Mars in Virgo squares Saturn, suggesting a brutal dose of militant controls involving opinions and detailed data. “Police Program Aims to Pinpoint Those Most Likely to Commit Crimes,” reads a headline now on the NYT home page. Have the police thought of consulting with an astrologer or two? Not that they would tell anyone if they had…or did.

Meanwhile, across the Pond: “Student Accused of Being a Terrorist…for Reading a Book on Terrorism”. The student is enrolled in a “terrorism, crime and global security master’s program,” but whatever. Guess what his first name is? Shades of Saturn in Sagittarius, as Sagittarius refers to publishing, academia, foreigners; Saturn is control, fear, etc.

In other news, Bill Cosby continues to be right on schedule, as suggested by his horoscope. Within days of the second hit of transiting Uranus (disruption of the status quo) to his Cancer Sun, he’s been stripped of two more honorary degrees and is reportedly lawyering up — for a potential criminal defense. Is his horoscope affected by Sunday’s eclipse? Yes — his Saturn, which sits in the 12th house of self-undoing and rules his 10th of career/public status — is at 5 Aries.  I expect we’ll continue to see heavy and disruptive action in Mr. Cosby’s life into early spring and even beyond…

What’s going on in your horoscope?

Astro-logical Forecast for Monday-Sunday 7/20-26/2015: Sneak Peek at the Week, Part 1

Good Morning!

Moon is in Virgo today, where it has been since  8:47PM ET on Saturday.  Use its organizing and discerning energy to put things right in your world today. Your efforts can be supported by an easy flow of communication and action, as the Moon makes contact with Mars (action) and Mercury (mindset) at 7:3oAM ET and 11:02PM ET, respectively. Refine, revise, reform….with an eye towards perfection and service.

Construction, stabilization and productive use of time is supported by two other easy flows among Sun and Mercury in emotional security-conscious Cancer and Saturn in reality check Scorpio. Those aspects are exact tomorrow at 7:08AM ET (Sun-Saturn), and Wednesday at 1:51PM ET (Mercury-Saturn). Use these building blocks well!

The smooth flow of planetary patterns at the start of this week give way to more excitement towards the end. After a brief Moon void on Wednesday (6:06AM ET – 9:23AM ET), Moon enters Libra and attempts to find balance, social graces and fairness in relationship — at least in theory. Note the potential for an emotional catharses or  power play around 1:36PM ET when the Moon is challenged by ruthless Pluto. Late Wednesday night, the Sun leaves Cancer for drama queen Leo. Mercury follows suit on Thursday (8:15AM ET) and then meets up with the Sun (3:24PM ET). This suggests a certain stubborn and fiery idealism in thought and communication.

Early Thursday the peace-seeking Libra Moon is further rattled by conflict and upsets from Mars and Uranus (12:04AM ET and 3:02AM ET) — exciting, if you’re working the night shift. Patterns are relatively supportive for the rest of the day on Thursday, though be advised that the Moon will be void between 2:12PM ET and 10:07PM ET. That’s a good time to focus on routine matters and roll with any twists that may crop up in your efforts to move forward in a straight line.  Crises during voids tend to be much ado about nothing.

If you work in a mercurial business such as the media, where you have daily deadlines, you’re more likely to notice these “road to nowhere” crises. When I was working onsite in TV news, I can’t tell you how many times a “hair on fire” project would show up during a void, and somehow fizzle out after the void was over — but not before a number of tech snafus and other flaky events that could have raised my stress levels if I were less informed. So CHILL if this happens to you.

Friday’s fun includes a tense and stubborn First Quarter Moon at 12:04AM ET, as the Moon, now in control and depth-seeking Scorpio, is challenged by the regal Leo Sun. Whatever agenda you set on last week’s New Moon may now be adjusted. A dreamy flow between Neptune and the Moon at 4:41PM ET aids your need for a weekend escape.

Humming in the background on Friday are three significant patterns exact on Saturday and Sunday. First, the other shoe of last Wednesday’s face-off between Mars and Pluto drops at 5:42AM ET. That would be rebel Uranus (aviation, seismic activity, accidents, sudden outbursts, technical breakthroughs, astrology) in a hard aspect to Mars (action & assertion, for better or worse).  Second, Uranus pulls focus again on Sunday at 6:38AM ET when it turns retrograde at 20 degrees of Aries.  It  will back up to 16 degrees before turning direct again on December 26th.

When a planet is retrograde, the energy it represents is best expressed by turning inward, instead of outward. When direct, Uranus tends to rebel against the status quo set by others. When retrograde, Uranus needs to set itself free from limits that are self-imposed. So if you have a planet between 16 and 20 degrees of Aries, Cancer, Libra or Capricorn…or if you were born around the 10th of April, July, October or January, you can expect an intense second hit of issues you’ve recently experienced (i.e., since April),  involving freedom, independence, being yourself without compromise, sudden revelations and upsets of the status quo.  Exhibit A: Bill Cosby, whose status has definitely been disrupted, as predicted in this forecast last year — with more to come all this year and into 2018 (because after Uranus is done with Mr. Cosby’s Cancer Sun and Aries Ascendant, Pluto will take over).

The Sabian Symbol for this year’s Uranus retrograde is this: “a pugilist entering the ring”. Sabian Symbol guru Blain Bovee suggests we apply this symbol to “the focused contest between social organization and individuality; the natural inclination to define one’s space; finding the range of one’s power, the impact of one’s punch”.  What are we fighting for? Are we championing a noble cause or are we just in it for ego recognition, born of insecurity? Will we inspire the world with our battle cry or will we just throw a temper tantrum and never mind the damaging consequences of our actions? Aries can go either way — big baby or warrior-hero — what will it be?

Third, Venus — which refers to women, aesthetics, social expression and values/worth — also turns retrograde. That happens at 5:29AM ET at O degrees of Virgo. In Leo, Venus needs a dramatic, playful, heart-centered expression of affection and values. In Virgo, such expression is likely to be more analytical and refined in its quest for perfection. It can also be priggish and hypercritical.  Venus has been in Virgo since 6:38PM ET on Saturday (last weekend), so perhaps you’ve already noticed the shift.

Tomorrow I’ll post some helpful guidelines for handling this year’s Venus retrograde. I’ll also recap the news — always amazing to see the synchronicity between planetary patterns and the headlines. Isn’t it fun to have a sense of what’s going to happen before it makes news? I’m only planning to post two forecasts this week — and I’ll tell you more about that tomorrow.

Meanwhile, why not find out more about what these planetary patterns mean to you? Consider that an invitation to schedule a personal consultation. Find out why you are the way you are, what you need in order to feel fulfilled, and what opportunities you can create for yourself now and in the near future. Astrology is amazing.

Thank you for reading this forecast.

Astro-logical Forecast for Thursday & Friday 11/24-25/2011: New Moon in Sagittarius; Mercury Retrograde

And a very happy Thanksgiving holiday weekend to you! Even with the potential for travel and communication snafus, courtesy of Mercury turning retrograde until December 13th, this suggestion for the day was to enjoy the rose-tinted emotional depth offered by Moon in substantive Scorpio and a peaceful, beautiful connection between loving Venus and nebulous Neptune, which at its best, can take us into the sublime. After a brief Moon void between 6:05PM and 8:57PM ET, suggesting a nap after all that turkey, Moon entered the high-flying, opinionated sign of Sagittarius, where it will roam until 10:04PM ET on Saturday. Already you may be feeling inspired to set an agenda for the New Moon, exact Friday at 1:10AM ET, that broadens your horizons. So let’s talk about the New Moon, which is especially potent because it coincides with a solar eclipse.

Eclipses halt the normal flow of traffic, so that something new can be born. The friendly policeman who stops cars so that Mrs. Mallard and her fluffy brood can make their way to the Boston Public Garden in the children’s classic Make Way for Ducklings is one way to look at an eclipse. Of course while traffic is stopped, it’s also backing up…and when it flows again, it’s possible that some cars may hit the gas a little too hard. So if you have a planet or point at 3 degrees of Sagittarius (the degree of the Sun and New Moon), you may feel the effects of the release of the bottleneck some months afterward — and it can feel like being blindsided.  3 degrees of Gemini, Pisces and Virgo are also sensitive to this cosmic event (many of the folks making news over the summer and early fall had major planets at 11-12 degrees of Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces — impacted by the solar eclipse at 11 Gemini on June1st — Rupert Murdoch is one example). Where does 3 degrees of Sagittarius fall in your horoscope? That’s the area of your life most likely to be affected.

This New Moon challenges us to review — especially with Mercury being retrograde — our collective philosophy. Law, religion, mass media, higher education and the philosophical foundation of political systems. The Sabian Symbol for 3 Sagittarius is intriguing: “Two men playing chess” a.k.a. “the game of kings,” as Sabian Symbol guru  Blain Bovee points out in his must-have book on the subject (I encourage you to acquire this book if you are seriously interested in astrology — it’s on Kindle). What are the rules of chess, a game that requires intelligence, creativity and strategy? There are very specific rules for restricting movement of each piece on the board. So long as the pieces move within those limits, the game works. So what happens if the rules are tossed out the window and the chess pieces decide to roam wherever they please? Hmmmmm…. Think about the objective in chess, which is to check (immobilize, neutralize, paralyze) the leader/king of the opposing side. Why play this sort of game? I’m not saying it’s a bad game, I’m saying this New Moon suggests looking at why we play the games we play — and what the rules are. Do we need a new game? Do we need new rules? Consider how games and rules apply in your own personal world. Do you need to break a few?Make a few?  Stop playing? Start playing?

A few reminders for  Mercury retrograde — even for regular readers. Mercury gets such a bad rap because we are geared, in this crazy modern age, to always be thinking, doing, moving FORWARD. You know what that gets you? BURN OUT. We need our down times, and Mercury retrograde is a perfect time to give our minds a rest from the pressure of moving forward. Why else would your computer, phone and/or car choose THIS time to malfunction? Because you are supposed to be slowing down!

When Mercury is retrograde, be prepared for travel delays, scheduling screw-ups, mechanical breakdowns, computer crashes, having to repeat what you’ve just said, misunderstandings, people from your past turning up out of nowhere and having to repeat what you’ve just said.  Avoid signing contracts, making major purchases (especially mechanical ones) and losing patience. I’d wait before acting on the sensational idea that hits you during Mercury retrograde periods. During the last Mercury retrograde, Warren Buffett claimed he was inspired — on a particularly hazy Neptune day, no less — to invest five billion dollars in Bank of America — signed, sealed and delivered — within 24 hours. If you have five billion dollars to invest and Mercury is retrograde, I recommend a more conservative, less impulsive strategy. Do your due diligence.

When Mercury is retrograde, do also plan on RElaxing, REviewing, REsearching, REorganizing, REgenerating, REconnecting and REcreating. Also consider REviewing your life — with your local astrologer. Introspection and planning are highly favored at this time…and besides, I’d love to hear from you.

Astro-logical Forecast for Tuesday & Wednesday 10/11-12/2011: Full Moon in Aries

We are still moving full speed ahead with Moon in the pioneering, inspirational, faith in miracles sign of Aries, the battering Ram. Said Moon waxes full in one minute as I type this, at 10:05PM ET. Full Moons illuminate and clarify the issues set forth during the New Moon two weeks before. And this New Moon cycle suggested a quickening — possibly breathtaking pace, infused by oxygen finally reaching dormant embers waiting for a spark. With that being said, I’ve re-posted the forecast for the New Moon, all about relationship, belonging, campfires and “Kumbaya”. Well? Has that been in the news or what? http://www.nytimes.com/2011/10/12/dining/protesters-at-occupy-wall-street-eat-well.html?pagewanted=1&_r=1&hp  How have themes of belonging manifested in your own personal world? And what illumination does the Full Moon suggest?

More on the Full Moon, but first, tomorrow’s forecast, for those who just can’t wait. Moon continues its hectic pace in Aries all day. Note your dreams upon waking, as nebulous Neptune making contact with Mercury (mind, communication), suggests inspiration to carry you through the day. This softer touch may come in handy as you advance or must respond to whatever issue of gravitas lands in your lap between now and Thursday night, suggested by serious Saturn’s annual meet-up with the Sun (life force).  Moon goes void at  8:08PM ET for and hour and a half. Break time! Then it moves into tactile Taurus, suggesting a chance to eat, drink and get a massage — whatever sensual things make you feel secure and prepare you for the organizing and consolidating to be done on Thursday.

Back to the Full Moon.  I look first to the Sabian Symbols, as interpreted by Blain Bovee. If you’re a serious fan of astrology, just get his book right now on Amazon — you will have a field day reading about every degree of every planet and point in your horoscope. Dane Rudhyar and Marc Edmund Jones have books on the Sabian Symbols, but Bovee’s is so much more accessible in these modern times http://www.amazon.com/Sabian-Symbols-Astrological-Analysis-Original/dp/0738705306/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1318386024&sr=8-

For the Moon at 19 Aries opposing the Sun at 19 Libra we find the symbols of “a magic carpet” opposing “a gang of robbers in hiding”. Oooh, this is just so juicy. “A magic carpet” is empowered by something outside conventional norms, transcending the Earth. Rising above it. What an interesting perspective you can get by introducing a little levity into your life.

“A gang of robbers in hiding”…suggesting a group consciousness with a unique code of honor, working undercover — cloaked, perhaps — as a necessary protection. There are no clearly visible leaders in Occupy Wall Street, the story that has dominated headlines as its ethos spreads to cities across the United States and even London (on Saturday). Isn’t that interesting? Here’s how those gathered on Wall Street are getting things done http://www.truthdig.com/report/item/why_the_elites_are_in_trouble_20111009

Well, fine, you say — how do I apply these symbols to the practical reality of my life? Bovee suggests “a mind to the challenge of maintaining integrity within a compromising social milieu; the right use of cover; creative alternatives to the paths of convention. Think of magic as the wisdom to know when to stand above the fray; to transcend situations that could lead to bereavement; to ascertain the right moment to touch down. Watch for helpers in hiding ready to emerge when help is needed; escapism; waiting on the sidelines until one’s influence can be effective.” In your quest for belonging (the New Moon agenda, re-posted below), how have the issues suggested by the Full Moon come into play? Consider this, as you consider buying Blain Bovee’s bodacious book : )

Astro-logical Forecast for Wednesday 2/2/2011: New Moon in Aquarius

Another intriguing aspect in effect yesterday and today — and setting the tone for the New Moon in Aquarius is erratic, freedom-loving, unconventional Uranus challenging Venus, planet of love, beauty and money…while whispering cooperatively in the ear of Mercury, planet of mind and communication. Add to that mix nebulous Neptune also caressing Venus…(is this prose the right shade of purple yet?)…and we have a perfect scenario for a few surprising social encounters, ranging from the refreshingly sublime to the simply ridiculous. Any sudden breaks, free spirits or weirdos in your life today? How about a New Best Friend? Wait a day or so before starting anything with any of these characters — we’re still in the dark side of the Moon — and you’ve got the entire work day to continue wrapping up old projects and start contemplating your agenda for the next cycle.

The New Moon — the moment we’ve all been waiting for — is exact at 9:31PM NY/6:31PM LA at 14 degrees of Aquarius. The Sabian Symbol for this degree is “A train entering a tunnel”. Astrologer Blain Bovee offers these keywords and phrases for possible manifestations of this New Moon energy (I’m listing a few; his book on Sabian Symbols is a most worthy addition to your shelf): “an efficient means of pressing forward through an opening or a passageway; having tunnel vision; the light at the end of the tunnel; a determined focus; an inadvertent disregard for others; following in the train of a powerful natural force; entering into a breakthrough situation”.

Remember when we were kids, how we — or at least some of us —  tried to dig a hole to China? That would have been some shortcut, wouldn’t it? What quantum leaps of consciousness and/or efficiency are within your potential this month? What other “great leaps forward” will we see in the headlines? Think humanitarian, socially significant, rebellion, freedom, technology and whatever else disrupts the status quo. Dare to be boring (the word “boring” has been corrupted; it means to pierce through), with your New Moon agenda, and push through to the light on the other side. Some of your best friends — old and new — may even want to come along.

If you’re not quite sure what to put on your New Moon agenda, but you really do want to further your evolution, you could do worse than rent the movie Groundhog Day, which suggests that in order to attract your one true love, you need to become that which you hope to attract. It’s also a top-notch romantic comedy, in addition to being spiritually profound. Take notes and enjoy the laughs.

Astro-logical Forecast for Wednesday 1/26/2011: Saturn Retrograde in Libra

More sobering serious thoughts and/or discourse are likely to be up for review today, continuing from yesterday. Perhaps a battle for control, too (thanks, Moon in Scorpio!) — who will win? It makes sense that we might see headlines reflecting such themes after last night’s SOTU; the whole morning is ripe for potential challenges, especially to the agenda set on the New Moon of the 4th. On the plus side, you may find your mind more disciplined and focused than usual, even if what you need to focus on isn’t as entertaining as you might prefer.

Meanwhile, Saturn, planet of ambition and control/structure turns retrograde at 18 degrees of Libra at 1:11AM NY time until June 12th. The Sabian Symbol for 18 Libra is “two men under arrest” — suggesting, writes Blain Bovee, the Sabian Symbol Specialist I’ve often cited in this forecast, “a manifestation of irreconcilable differences”….hmmm…such as three Supreme Court Justices recusing themselves from SOTU? http://content.usatoday.com/communities/ondeadline/post/2011/01/justices-alito-scalia-thomas-to-skip-state-of-union-address/1 Bovee has these additional thoughts on Saturn at 18 Libra (Google Blain — buy his book — a must-have for any astrology aficionado): “When Saturn is in 18 Libra, there is a tendency to dig in rather than to negotiate. negotiation may seem impossible, plus the ‘other side’ is just as intractable in their beliefs.” Coincidence or conspiracy?

And while I’m raving about the great work of other astrologers:

If you’re a serious student of astrology, you might consider these recently-released DVDs from Noel Tyl, whose Masters Course for astrologers has really turned my head around — just as advertised! If you don’t have 1000 hours of time to devote to a two-year course of study with Mr. Tyl, you can still learn much in the four and a half hours it will take to watch the first three DVDs in the Masterwork Series http://tylmasterwork.com/ And more will be produced in February…

Back to our regularly scheduled program:

Wherever 11-18 degrees of Libra falls in your horoscope will be an area that’s up for focus and review over the next five months. The challenge is to bring this area of your life into balance (Libra) with a mature, constructive perspective (Saturn) that will realize your ambition. Relationships in this area of your life may also be up for review, renewal or release.

Astro-logical Forecast for Wednesday 1/19/2011

A reader from Japan recently shared an intriguing observation re: the media frenzy over the alleged “13th Sign”. Apparently this same story made headlines in Japan…(ready for this)…at the time of the last meeting of expansive Jupiter and Uranus (which rules astrology) in 1997. You may recall this story broke in the U.S. on Jan 4th, when Jupiter and Uranus were similarly aligned (and you may recall I anticipated “startling news from the cosmos” to make headlines).  Coincidence or conspiracy?  The end result in Japan was an increased interest in  — and serious study of — astrology. Looking forward to a similar manifestation in America. Fascinating!

Today brings the fourth of five Full Moons in a row happening at the last degree of a sign. What will the light illuminate? What will draw to a close? The Sabian Symbols for the Sun at 29 Capricorn and Moon at 29 Cancer are provocative:  “A secret business conference” and “A daughter of the American Revolution”. Turning to Blain Bovee’s book, The Sabian Symbols in Astrological Analysis we can anticipate: “inherited issues decided behind closed doors” What will our fearless corporate and government leaders — and/or rebels — do next?

In your own personal sphere, what illumination have you gained as you work toward your goals set at the New Year? Maybe it’s time to take a meeting — or make that great leap forward.

Moon goes void on the Full Moon at 4:26PM NY until 5:16PM, when Moon enters playful, regal, adore me Leo. That suggests more than one dramatic scene in the Full Moon’s aftermath this evening.  It seems like only yesterday that I was writing about people born with Moon in Leo — but it was a month ago. My, how time flies.  Seize the day!

Astro-logical Forecast for Monday 12/6/2010 & the New Moon in Sagittarius

Happy New Moon in Sagittarius, which was exact yesterday at 12:36PM NY time. The meeting of Sun and Moon happened in my 12th house, suggesting I might have been more inclined to retreat from the world in contemplation. That’s my excuse for this delayed forecast. What’s yours?  Frankly, with all planets moving forward in the sky as of 8:51 PM NY time yesterday, there are no excuses for not moving forward, at least for the next three days, when Mercury goes retrograde.  Until then, go!

Sagittarius is the Archer, aiming his bow toward the sky. Ruled by expansive, usually optimistic Jupiter, Sagittarius is all about  “big picture” ideas, especially ones we share collectively: our philosophy, our religion, our laws, as well as ideas shared in publishing and broadcasting.  Sag is also interested in higher education and travel that broadens our horizons, as opposed to elementary school and local travel that gets us from here to the grocery store (that’s the domain of Gemini, the opposite sign to Sag).

Last month I wrote we would likely see themes of laying down lines of communication that could take us in to the unknown, out of our comfort zone. Examples of how this manifested in the headlines included the new TSA alleged security procedures and the latest batch of Wikileaks revelations. The Sabian Symbol for this New Moon at 14 degrees of Sagittarius is “the Pyramids and the Sphinx: an enigma, a hidden mystery that is inscrutable, defying close examination; a riddle, the answer to which cannot be spoken.”  Hmmm. Mystery…and yet I also note in the New Moon chart a close connection between Mercury (mind, travel, communication) and ruthless Pluto, which suggests an intense focus on the investigation of mystery and bringing hidden agendas to light. OK…so how do we apply this to our lives over the next 30 days?

This is an opportunity to broaden horizons, individually and collectively.  Where is that happening in your life? Here are some possible strategies for navigating new territory: seek to understand this area of expansion with a wisdom that goes beyond words. How do you know what you know? Use words carefully, incisively, sparingly — with a specific target in mind. Consider whether words are even necessary, especially given that Mercury will be retrograde from the 10th to the 29th, when words can easily spin out of control or be misunderstood. Consider how maintaining an aura of mystery might strengthen your position. Notice any tension between mystery and brutal honesty. What is really at stake?

With gratitude to Blain Bovee and his book “The Sabian Symbols and Astrological Analysis,” which helped me articulate a forecast for this inscrutable  New Moon; Julian Assange seems to be its poster boy; if I can find his horoscope, I’ll write about it anon

Astro-logical Forecast for Friday 11/19/2010 and the Weekend

Several readers mentioned feeling a bit wobbly yesterday, which can happen when planets change signs and/or directions. And yesterday it was Jupiter (expansion) and Venus (social expression), moving forward after some months (Jupiter) and some weeks (Venus). Patience is required under these energetic shifts, and frankly, patience wasn’t likely on deck yesterday, with Moon in impulsive, “not now, but RIGHT NOW” Aries.

Today is different. Today we have Moon in “keep things exactly as they are”, poky old stubborn Taurus. The pace may slow down and give you time to dig deep. Sensual experiences — food, music, massages — can be happily placed on your agenda tonight and through Sunday AM.

Saturday you can establish material security to your heart’s content at the mall or around the home — there is no void of course Moon to interfere with your purchasing power. Do note the potential for intense verbal fencing and/or overblown opinions during the day, courtesy of a hook-up between Mercury (mind) and Mars (actions) in enthusiastic, high-flying Sagittarius.

Sunday the Moon waxes full at 29 degrees of Taurus, opposing the last degree of moody bastard Scorpio. Recall your New Moon agenda of laying down or repairing lines of communication. What new light will be shed today? Here are two clues, suggested by the Sabian Symbols (some day I’ll write about where those came from): “A peacock parading on an ancient lawn” and “A Halloween jester” — and now, I’ll just quote from Blain Bovee’s book on Sabian Symbols, for a detailed description because it says it all:  “Consider the genius to work beyond the struggles of power and cooperation; a balance of discriminating intelligence with intangible impressions; the ability to laugh at oneself, the see the divine humor at play in all thing; to see the humor in human folly; a genuine smile; feeling at home; a consummate attitude of ‘there is much to admire and much to smile about'”

There. That’s your Full Moon illumination – may it enable you to lay down lines of communication with confidence into new frontiers. Thanks, Blain!

Anyone in Congress reading this forecast? I didn’t think so. Sigh. But some day….
