“I can't thank you enough for the incredible adventure in astrology. You have that rare gift that certainly all who call themselves astrologers don't possess... you're the real deal!! It seriously blew me away that you were able to not only nail so much from my past (exact times/years certain events took place, along with situations with family, relationships and beyond) but you've already helped with my present! The answers you gave to the specific questions I asked pertaining to important career-related happenings this week have already proven true. I will look forward to an update in a year or so.”

Wednesday-Thursday 7/18-19/2018: Gaslighting with the Gipper

Allll-righty then!

The energy of the day is brought to you by the Moon in Libra, seeking to be popular, fair and balanced. It will cruise without interference until a few hours before 2:43 AM ET on THURSDAY, when it will be challenged by ruthless Pluto. Power play or catharsis? Then more relatively smooth sailing until the First Quarter Moon at 3:52 PM ET.

My advice: work with the energy of the late night Moon-Pluto square and use that emotional depth to facilitate harmony in relationships. With Mars now retrograde since June 26th, an urge to grumble at significant others is understandable. But is it really about them? Consider how your inner demons may be at play. Also consider this aptly-timed article: a bad marriage is seriously bad for your health.

And now, a word from our sponsor: to schedule a personal consultation, here’s how to contact me.  To those who’ve asked if I teach,  yes I do.  I’d also be pleased to give a talk to your group — in person or via the amazing internet — on Astrology 101. I did one of those on Monday at a Pilates studio, with the following feedback:

“Your talk was probably one of the best that I’ve been to in a long time. Clear, informative and engaging, it was wonderful! I am excited to plan the next one!”

And now, the news. File this all under “I told you the newsmfeed this week would be like watching an ice shelf in Antarctica suddenly collapse into the sea, changing the topography forever.”

Of course you all remember P45’s horoscope for July 16th, yes? Here it is again.   Monday’s Putin-P45 summit began at 1:12 PM in Helsinki. Looking at the chart for that moment for a meet-up, we see the two parties represented by 1) a detail-oriented, hypercritical, effective Venus in Virgo, buoyed by a harmony with expansive Jupiter and 2) an imbecilic self-immolating renegade Mars in Aquarius — wandering without focus, retrograde and about to self-destruct on the South Node. Now. You tell me — which planet represented which party?

Right. And then this happened: “At Summit With Russia, Trump Betrays His Country in Plain Sight”.  Because what U.S. president wouldn’t announce to the world that when it comes to espionage and efforts to sabotage our country, he’ll take the word of a Russian president over the facts presented by multiple U.S. intelligence agencies any day? And that was just one of many jaw-dropping statements. Here’s the full video of the Putin-P45 press conference, in case you missed it. And here’s a written excerpt, with flat-out falsehoods noted by the NYT.

The answer to the question is simple and clear, if one takes the words of Maya Angelou to heart, “When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time.”

  • “In terms of high-end product influx into the US, Russians make up a pretty disproportionate cross-section of a lot of our assets. Say, in Dubai, and certainly with our project in SoHo, and anywhere in New York. We see a lot of money pouring in from Russia.” (P45 Jr., 2008)
  • “We have all the funding we need out of Russia.” (#2 Son Eric, 2014)
  • P45 has “no intention” of releasing his tax returns (Steven Mnuchin, 2017)
  • “P45’s Russian Laundromat” — an in-depth piece published last year in The New Republic

Meanwhile in Washington, over the past few days, 29 year-old Maria Butina was arrested and indicted on “charges of being a covert Russian agent,” as you will read in this WaPo piece: “‘She was like a novelty’: How alleged Russian agent Maria Butina gained access to elite conservative circles,” Note the connections between Ms. Butina and the NRA. But what was she doing at the National Prayer Breakfast?

Getting back to P45’s Helsinki sinkhole…yesterday, during the much ado about nothing Moon void in Virgo, P45 tried to make things right by saying he “misspoke,” earning him a place — according to Stephen Colbert — “in the Lying Hall of Fame.”  Watch this video and watch him lie about Queen Elizabeth. Then notice that that three minutes into the clip, P45 states, “I have a full faith in our intelligence agencies,” and as he says those words, the lights in the Oval Office go out. Coincidence or conspiracy?

After researching possible causes for the sudden power outage, I warmed to a theory suggested in this piece from the NYT: “Supernatural Cleaning Methods,” (written for owners of haunted houses), arguing that lights going on and off without apparent cause might actually be reflecting the influence of an otherworldly presence.

Hmmm…but who might haunt the Oval Office? A former occupant who is no longer among the living? How about….Ronald Reagan?  Of course I looked at his horoscope to assess its potential for action yesterday around 12 PM ET in Washington DC. If any Avid Reader has an exact time for when those lights went out, please let me know. The lamestream media is hopeless when it comes to timing.

So….let’s see here…

  • transiting Jupiter (ruler of Reagan’s Sagittarius Ascendant) is almost exactly conjunct his natal Jupiter and opposing his Taurus Moon (co-ruler of the 7th — the public).
  • Transiting Moon almost exactly squaring his Ascendant and Pluto.
  • Transiting Pluto is close to a conjunction to his natal Mercury and square his Libra Midheaven, suggesting a need for empowered and persuasive communication.
  • Transiting Pluto is also exactly opposed his natal Neptune, ruler of his 3rd House (of mindset and communication). Hard transits between Pluto and Neptune are a reliable reflection of metaphysical/paranormal experiences.
  • Transiting Sun is exactly opposing his natal Uranus — well, that’s a potential buzz…and transiting Uranus is conjunct his natal Saturn (another potential shake-up).
  • with natal Mercury conjunct Uranus in his horoscope, we see Reagan’s need for a quirky and provocative sense of humor.
  • Finally, transiting Saturn is almost exactly conjunct his Mars — we can appreciate the potential for frustration.

Dear Avid Readers, I believe we have found our culprit. The horoscope lives forever, doncha’ know. The Gipper ain’t buying the gaslighting. And really, I don’t see why he would. Nor should you. Case closed.

Are we having fun yet?

UPDATE: it appears the White House really is haunted

Meanwhile…

Signs Jupiter (expansion) might have just turned direct in Scorpio:

As we approach Sunday’s harmonious sextile (an aspect suggesting cooperation and generosity), let’s close with one of the most uplifting stories I’ve read in a while: “An Alabama man walked almost 20 miles to his new job. When his boss found out, he gave him a car.”  Not only did the aptly-named Walter Carr —  literally go the extra mile(s) in his eight-hour trek in the middle of the night, but a police officer who questioned the 20 year-old African-American en route did not try to arrest him. Instead, he bought Mr. Carr breakfast and engaged the help of another officer, who gave him a lift six hours into the journey. But wait, there’s more! After arriving at his destination and doing a stellar job moving furniture from one household to another, the satisfied customer started a GoFundMe campaign on his behalf, which as of this morning had generated $37,000. A few days later, Carr’s boss gave him the car.

Wouldn’t it be fun to see Walter Carr’s horoscope? I suspect we’d see it activated by last week’s two Grand Trines.  I love that everyone in this story chose to be a hero, supporting and rewarding Carr’s noble cause. With today’s Libra Moon traveling free and clear, you, too can be a hero by appreciating and noticing the efforts of people in your life who are going the extra mile.

Thank you for reading this forecast.

Monday 7/16/2018: Sneak Peek at the Week; Anything Goes

Good Morning!

The work week begins on note of optimism, suggested by a perfection-seeking Virgo Moon in harmony with expansive Jupiter at 11:34 AM ET. Grab that to-do list and make things right. As we get closer to 4:25 PM ET, double check the details and make sure communication channels are clear. Moon is opposed by nebulous Neptune, potentially fogging up the windshield. Dig deep for clarity around 10:29 PM ET, as the Moon harmonizes with ruthless Pluto.

The Moon will be void on TUESDAY between 6:49 AM ET and 3:42 PM ET. If you must work, tend to  routine concerns, and don’t get carried away by crises that may crop up. Chances are that after the void is over, that crisis will be revealed to be much ado about nothing. Chill! If you are free to wander during the void, then do so — and roll with the twists and flakes.

Other Moon voids for the week: THURSDAY 3:52 PM ET until 9:13 PM ET — and that’s it.

Guess what kind of week this is? A week with no exact aspects among the planets except to the Moon. Not until SUNDAY morning will we have an exact aspect among any other planet — a harmony between Venus and Jupiter, which may be experienced as sweet or otherwise indulgent. But still…I’ve found that these apparent lulls are often deceptive. Like I said last week, it’s like looking at a giant ice shelf on the most sparkling sunny day ever…and then, for no apparent reason, half the shelf crumbles into the ocean. So if an “other shoe” drops in the headlines, I will not be surprised, and neither should you.  We do have a First Quarter Moon at 3:52 PM ET on THURSDAY at 27 Libra, activating the 2017 inauguration chart. On verra, as they say in France. Way to go, World Cup champs!

Looking ahead to next week, please note that Mercury will turn retrograde NEXT THURSDAY at 1:03 AM ET. BACK UP YOUR COMPUTERS NOW! With a super-duper Full Moon and looonnnng lunar eclipse NEXT FRIDAY, which involve a release of tension among the Sun (will), Mars (action, assertion) and Uranus (rebels, aviation, accidents, technology), you will need to be especially FOCUSED during that time. Focus and PATIENCE are excellent coping strategies for Mercury retrogrades.

And now, the news.

First, you may remember last week’s off-the-top-of-my-head examples of a few famous people whose horoscopes were affected by the solar eclipse.

Add Sacha Baron Cohen to the list of the eclipsed. His 19 Libra Sun is already being hit by the empowering potential of transiting Pluto. He spent the past year traveling in disguise to interview truckloads of Americans, including many unsuspecting politicians and other power (!) players. Coming on the heels of last week’s  Sun-Pluto opposition, his new show (Who Is America?) is filled with “news from underground,” and more than one of his interview subjects is howling with indignation by what has been revealed. This segment — in which past and present members of Congress vouch support for a program to teach toddlers about guns — is as dazzling and provocative as Cohen’s horoscope suggests. “The pheromone Blink-182?” They thought that was for real?

Cohen is a Libra, driven by a drama king Moon in Leo. His Sun is conjunct Uranus; of course he needs to be a quirky rebel. With Jupiter and Neptune conjunct in Sagittarius, we need how he would need to push boundaries…but things may not be what they seem! With natal Pluto at the Aries Point, we can see why people of power would be prominent in his life.  Birth time unknown — here’s what we do know about his horoscope.

More news from underground: “How Israel, In the Dark of Night, Torched Its Way to Iran’s Nuclear Secrets.”

Reflecting the material self-sufficiency of the weekend’s lovely Grand Trine among Venus (women, art, social expression, money), Saturn (old guard) and Uranus (avant garde) — all in Earth Signs:

Obituaries often reflect the symbolism of planetary patterns. Here’s one for that enduring Earth Grand Trine: “Nancy Barbato Sinatra, Steadfast First Wife of Frank Sinatra, Dies at 101.” Indeed.

What’s going on in your horoscope? How will this summer’s Mars and Mercury retrogrades be reflected in your own personal world? And what about these three eclipses? And OMG — Venus will be going retrograde on October 10th — in Scorpio. How will that period of REview manifest for you? Book a consultation and together we will plan a strategy to maximize opportunities. Here’s how to contact me.

Thank you for reading this forecast.

Friday 7/14/2018 & the Weekend: Rock Steady

On Friday, the Moon was void in Cancer until 1:31 PM ET. After that it enters Leo for most of the weekend, looking for a reason to play, shine or otherwise take the stage. We may see a few bumps around happy hour, as the Moon is challenged by disruptive Uranus at 5:10 PM ET. Six hours later, the Moon is opposed by Mars, suggesting a potential clash or exertion of will or other outburst of energy. Meanwhile, a harmony between Venus (women, money, art, social expression) and Saturn (authority, patriarchy, ambition, control) seeks stability within the established order, exact at 2:44 AM ET on SATURDAY.

Moon goes void at 7:12 PM ET on Saturday, suggesting you are free to shop before then without worrying if your impulse purchase will live up to expectations.  Indulgence and/or grandiosity may alter your mood and hit the headlines around 10:44 AM ET, as the Moon is challenged by exuberant Jupiter. Party on loquaciously during the evening void, as the Moon and mental Mercury meet up…then sleep in and/or chill on SUNDAY. The Moon enters Virgo to tidy things up at 1:31 PM ET. Sunday evening suggests  your analysis can easily incorporate a blend of the avant garde with the “old guard.”

No sleeping in on Monday.

And now, the news.

Classical astrologers argue that a Moon void in Taurus, Cancer, Sagittarius and Pisces is able to “somewhat perform,” suggesting that events that are initiated in these voids may have some consequences. I’m thinking about that now, as Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein has announced the indictment of 12 Russian intelligence officers for allegedly hacking DNC emails — just as  P45 was about to sit down for tea with Queen Elizabeth. Happy post-Sun-Pluto opposition, suggesting we’d be hearing some serious news from underground.

And that’s as far as I got with my efforts to post a forecast on Friday.

Picking up the writing on Saturday (today)…

“Warning Lights Are Blinking Red,” says top U.S. intelligence officer re: the threat of continued Russian cyberattacks. Yes, and with Mars retrograde soon to square technogeek Uranus in early August, we are sure to hear more on that story.

Friday’s indictment noted that the accused’s first hack attempt occurred on July 27, 2016, the same day P45 infamously said,  “Russia, if you’re listening, I hope you’re able to find the 30,000 (Clinton) emails that are missing. I think you will probably be rewarded mightily by our press.”  P45 would have needed to push the boundaries of righteous opinion on that day, with transiting Jupiter (expansion) squaring his blabbermouth Sagittarius. Right. Nothing to look at here.

Meanwhile…

It’s a bewildering time for FBI agent Peter Strzok, suggested by patterns in his horoscope. He has transiting Neptune sitting right on top of his Pisces Sun. Birth date: March 7, 1970– no time or place available. On Thursday,  Mr. Strzok spent ten hours answering questions from members of Congress, some of whom accused him of having a personal bias against P45 that had somehow corrupted his investigation of Russian meddling in the 2016 election. Here is Stephen Colbert’s recap of those grueling ten hours, and thank goodness for comedy as a coping strategy in these interesting times.

Ten hours is a long time to be in the hot seat, and fortunately for Agent Strzok, he was born with Mars and Saturn conjunct in Taurus, opposed by Jupiter in Scorpio. A Mars-Saturn conjunction has exceptional potential for hard-nosed discipline, and in Taurus — which needs stability and security — it suggests endurance. Lucille Ball — one of the most enduring Hollywood icons, has a Mars-Saturn conjunction in Taurus squaring her Leo Sun. Mitch McConnell also has a Mars-Saturn conjunction in Taurus, with innovative/rebellious potential courtesy of rebel Uranus joining that meet-up. He’s been in Congress since forever. His natal Venus-Pluto opposition will continued to be activated by transiting Mars into early fall. This potential for emotional overkill will also be triggered by the lunar eclipse on July 27th.

Fun fact: two of Strzok’s most dramatic accusers — Trey Gowdy (R-SC) and Louis Gohmert (R-TX) are late-degree drama king Leos, with their Suns conjunct P45’s Leo Mars and Ascendant. Gowdy is not running for re-election this year (perhaps reflecting the eclipse of his 29 Leo Sun last August and this February), but we can see how his regal Leo essence could border on bombast, given a square between his Leo Sun and Jupiter at the fixed star Algol (which might also involve his Aquarius Moon). We don’t have a birth time for Gowdy, but next year he is likely to  be feeling streamlined when transiting Saturn opposes his Venus (social expression) and Mars (assertion).  Gohmert’s Leo Sun is in touch with expansive Jupiter. It’s also conjunct Pluto, adding no small need for power and potential ruthlessness. Gohmert’s horoscope will be challenged late next year by transiting Pluto to his natal Saturn, Neptune and Uranus. This suggests a disruption of his personal status quo in the face of potential loss. We shall see.

In other news…

Reflecting the material self=sufficiency of this week’s Grand Trine among Venus (women, money, arts), Saturn (business, authority, control) and Uranus (freedom, disruption):

Reflecting additional “news from underground,” suggested by Thursday’s Sun-Pluto opposition combined with the eclipse:

Next week, with no exact aspects among the planets, except from the Moon, I was expecting a story about a big chunk of ice. This one showed up on today’s stabilizing Venus-Saturn trine. The iceberg is currently stuck, but still poses a threat to a small town in Greenland. Check out the photo.

Elsewhere,  one of my favorite stories reflecting the optimistic focus suggested by Jupiter turning direct on the 10th, the day this story hit the wires:

Well?

Meanwhile, if you happen to be in the New York City area — or better yet, Long Island —  at 7 PM on Monday, July 16th, I will be presenting a talk, “The Astrology of Summer 2018: Mars/Mercury Retrogrades, Eclipses and What It All Means for You.” It will be a small group, and we will use horoscopes of attendees as examples. Send me an email and I will send you the details.

Tuesday – Thursday 7/9-11/2018: A Potent New Moon/Eclipse in Cancer

The Gemini Moon is void between 4:01 PM ET on TUESDAY and 1:59 PM ET on WEDNESDAY. That’s a time to chill and roll with whatever twists and flakes may derail your efforts to move forward in a straight line. Rolling with the twists may take you far off the beaten track in ways that are innovative and unconventional, courtesy of a harmony between Venus and Uranus, exact at 11:26 PM ET.

After the Moon void, Moon enters Cancer, where it happily engages with Venus and Uranus around 5 PM ET. Note the potential for a wet blanket or an ambitious advance around 9:38 PM ET, when the Moon is opposed by Saturn.

THURSDAY begins with that potent opposition between the Sun and Pluto (discussed further in a moment). The work day suggests vision and optimism on the table, with a catharsis or further power play scheduled at 9:43 PM ET, as the Moon follows in the Sun’s footsteps. The New Moon in officially begins at 10:48 PM ET, offering us an opportunity to re-set  intentions and goals for the next lunar cycle.

In Cancer, the Moon seeks to fulfill a need for emotional/homeland security; this month we can expect that need to be experienced with exceptional intensity. Here is the chart set in Washington DC., suggesting what this lunar cycle will bring for the US as a nation:

The most visible planet in the chart is Neptune in the 1st House, in contact with Midheaven and (loosely) the Ascendant. What is Neptune if not fog, vision, idealism, scandal, faith and deception? Operating behind the scenes – and running wild – is Mars (aggression, action, anger) in the 12th House (of self-undoing), about to meet up with the South Node for the second time in weeks. The South Node is a point of destruction, suggesting potentially toxic patterns that ought to be released. With Mars in Aquarius, perhaps the path of self-doing is related to rebellious assertion masquerading as freedom.

There are two Grand Trines in the chart. One is separating – among Jupiter, Neptune and the Cancer Moon -Sun – all in Water signs. A Water Grand Trine suggests a need for emotional self-sufficiency; it also suggests being able to write your own rules and regulations, while everyone else marvels at how easily the world acquiesces. Neptune refers to faith; Jupiter refers to expansion, and also optimism, a.k.a. Hope. I am not the only astrologer to see this “belief in miracles” pattern reflected in the heroic success of the “mission impossible” to rescue the Thai boys from that underground (!) cave.

The other Grand Trine is in Earth signs and involves Saturn, Uranus and Venus. To me, this suggests a need for material self-sufficiency, using innovation as a means for preserving authority – possibly to a fault – in matters related to women, money, values and aesthetics. This pattern of “haves” is reflected by a midpoint involving Jupiter and Pluto (the Powers That Be) and the Midheaven (public status/institutions) in this New Moon chart.

This New Moon is also a partial solar eclipse. It will be visible mostly over water off the southern coast of Australia. A Solar Eclipse can act like a “bottleneck” of energy. Light flowing from the Sun is temporarily interrupted, focusing attention on that interrupted point, allowing something new and possibly fragile to enter the picture and grow. And here I would be thinking of Michael, the kindhearted policeman in the storybook Make Way for Ducklings, who stopped the flow of traffic on Beacon Street so Mr. and Mrs. Mallard and their brood of eight could safely make their way to the Boston Public Garden. Got that?

make-way-for-ducklings-more-robert-mccloskey-dvd-cover-art

Sometimes what is brought into focus is a secret suddenly brought to light. Once out, there’s no going back. In this eclipse , we have an opposition of the Sun and Moon to Pluto, ruler of the underworld. Plus, Jupiter has just turned direct in Scorpio, the sign that brought you #MeToo and other “resistance is futile” instances of abused power. My money says this month will bring even more to light.

The Sabian Symbol for this New Moon is “a prima donna singing,” and here is what Sabian Symbol Guru Blain Bovee has to say about it.  Is this when the fat lady finally sings? For further insight, I consulted Wikipedia:

It ain’t over till (or untilthe fat lady sings is a colloquialism which is often used as a proverb. It means that one should not presume to know the outcome of an event which is still in progress. More specifically, the phrase is used when a situation is (or appears to be) nearing its conclusion. It cautions against assuming that the current state of an event is irreversible and clearly determines how or when the event will end. The phrase is most commonly used in association with organized competitions, particularly sports.

Hmmm. I find that hopeful. Astrologer Lynda Hill is another Sabian Symbol Guru. She suggests we see this  prima donna image as an opportunity to use the voice to captivate an audience…with a caveat against hogging the stage. In the news, I will watching for prima donnas to take the stage and sing, supported by a group effort.

And now, the news.

Thanks to Avid Reader Esmeralda, who sent in several stories reflecting the “news from underground” potential of the Sun’s opposition with Pluto, observing that “underground infrastructure articles seem very on-topic for Pluto in Capricorn, as is the tension between public/private in the Capricorn/Cancer opposition.”

UPDATE: British PM Theresa May, whose horoscope was last discussed here, is rearranging her Cabinet after the sudden departure of three who did not support the way she is handling Brexit.   Ms. May is likely feeling the squeeze of three hits of transiting Saturn to her 8 Libra Sun. The last one happens on December 4th. Meanwhile, a measurement between her Sun and Uranus suggests she is more inclined to continue on her own path, regardless of the party-poopers. This measurement will be exact on October 2nd.

UPDATE: Brett Kavanaugh won Tuesday’s SCOTUS nomination sweepstakes. Judge Kavanaugh has been called “the Forrest Gump of the Republican Party.” Where do we see that potential in his horoscope? He’s an Aquarius driven by a Cancer Moon, suggesting a potential humanitarian who needs to establish homeland/family/emotional security. We don’t have a birth time, but it is possible that his Moon is being opposed by either transiting Saturn or Pluto. The former suggests streamlined focus; the latter suggests empowerment/transformation. That mythical/magical Forrest Gump-ness is suggested by a tense pattern (a T-square) in involving his Sun and his wonky Mercury-in-Aquarius mindset, squaring an opposition between Jupiter (hope/expansion/bombast) and Neptune (faith/fog/intuition/fantasy). That T-square is being activated by transiting Jupiter in Scorpio — now and several months ago — with a third pass to come this fall.  So are two of the horoscopes of the other judges who were under consideration. Transiting Mars is also active in  Kavanaugh’s horoscope (as well as two of those other contenders — do you see a pattern here?)

What’s going on in your horoscope? Do patterns suggest a promotion for you anytime soon? If you have not checked in with with your astrologer in over a year, you are due for a consultation. Astrologers are like dentists, doncha know. Here is the 411 on consultations and reports. Yes, I am still offering the Mars retrograde special for $48.88.

Thank you for reading this forecast and for sharing it with the rest of the Free World.

Monday 7/9/2018: Sneak Peek at the Week; Big Thoughts; Power Plays; New Moon/Eclipse

Good Morning!

The Moon continues in Taurus, seeking to build material comfort and security. The only aspect to the Moon is a challenge from Venus at 12:10 PM ET, suggesting a potential self-indulgent clash involving values and social expression. You could take an early lunch or Moon-void coffee break  between 12:10 PM ET and 12:58 PM ET. By then, Moon will be in chatty Gemini, looking for a good story. Given that the day began with a challenging square between Mercury (how we need to think ) and Jupiter (expansion), we shouldn’t have to look too far.

We are in the dark side of the Moon, getting ready to begin a new cycle. The closer we get to Thursday, the more listless and/or restless we may feel, sensing that something new is around the corner, though we don’t know what. Wrap up projects that were started on the last New Moon if you can. Consider your intentions for the next New Moon, exact on THURSDAY at 10:48 PM ET. This New Moon is also an eclipse and it is quite potent. Details below — with more later this week.

Here are the notable planetary patterns:

  • MONDAY — Venus leaves Leo for Virgo, desperately seeking perfection until August 7th; it is triggering the Big Fat Total Eclipse we had last August 21st. If your horoscope was affected by the eclipse, it is affected by Venus today.
  • TUESDAY  — Jupiter, planet of reward, expansion and indulgence, turns direct at 1:04 PM ET at 13 degrees of Scorpio. If you have a planet around 13 degrees of Scorpio, Aquarius, Taurus or Leo, you are especially affected. Why? Because Jupiter has been sitting on that degree since the summer solstice, and will continue to sit on it for the rest of the month.  What’s expanding in your life these days?  If you’re former uber-conservative Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (MD, R-TN; 2/22/1952 in Nashville TN), with Mars at 13 Scorpio, you might find yourself needing to take a moral stand with a surprising op-ed in WaPo entitled “The Senate I led put country over party. This one must do the same for Robert Mueller.”  This surprising social expression would be motivated by transiting Uranus squaring your Venus at 1 Aquarius.
  • Jupiter keywords include: collective belief systems, such as higher education, religion, political philosophies and the media; optimism, benevolence, inflation, bombast. Whereas Saturn restricts, Jupiter expands, for better or for worse — and this year’s expansion continues in Scorpio until November 8th. As you know, Scorpio demands substance, depth and control. Airy-fairy Libra theories of fairness and balance need not apply. Scorpio keywords include: debt, sexual/procreative energy, regeneration. Look for continued focus in these areas as Jupiter gets back up to speed. In a natal chart, Jupiter in Scorpio suggests a need to have a mission in life — zealously, perhaps.
  • WEDNESDAY —  Venus trines Uranus, favoring unconventional attractions and perhaps an innovative spin in matters of money, women and aesthetics.
  • We’ll likely feel and see in the headlines the tension building to THURSDAY’s opposition between the Sun and Pluto. Major power plays behind the scenes, likely featuring heads of state.   Sun-Pluto aspects also suggest news from underground, and the involvement of Pluto with this New Moon/Eclipse at 20 Cancer suggests more than the usual outing of secrets generally associated with an eclipse. You are more personally affected if you have a planet or angle around 20 degrees of Capricorn, Libra, Aries and especially Cancer. Off the top of my head, public figures affected include Jared Kushner (Sun at 20 Cap), FCC Big Head Ajit Pai (Sun-Jupiter at 20 Cap), Richard Simmons (Sun at 20 Cancer), Queen Elizabeth (21 Cap ASC; 20 Cancer North Node), Patrick Stewart (Sun at 20 Cancer), Gerald Ford (Sun at 21 Cancer — doesn’t matter if he’s dead — plus, transiting Jupiter is sitting exactly opposite his 13 Taurus Ascendant).
  • SATURDAY — Venus trines Saturn, suggesting grounded/sobering/serious news about women, money, arts and social expression.

Moon voids for the week, other than today’s 20 minutes coffee break: TUESDAY 4:01 PM ET until 1:59 PM ET on WEDNESDAY; THURSDAY 10:48 PM ET until 1:31 PM ET on FRIDAY; SATURDAY 7:12 PM ET until SUNDAY 1:31 PM ET.

And now, the news.

UPDATE: P45’s horoscope is in a curious lull.  There are very few hard aspects — conjunctions, squares and oppositions — happening among the planets, except from the Moon. Sure, we can expect more than the usual bombast on Monday, with transiting Sun squaring expansive Jupiter in the afternoon, around the time he says he’ll have made up his mind about his next SCOTUS pick. He’ll have transiting Venus conjunct his Ascendant when he goes on the TeeVee to announce that pick at 9 PM ET, and this may sweeten the deal. Tuesday he flies across the Pond, stopping first in Brussels to intimidate our NATO allies, but the next charged aspect in his horoscope doesn’t happen until he meets his match — Vladimir Putin — in Helsinki on the 16th. On that day, transiting Sun meets up with his natal Saturn, which — according to Robert Hand’s essential tome, Planets in Transit — suggests

“tending to tasks you may not want to do but must in order to fulfill obligations to others…what you accomplish today may have more lasting significance than could be accomplished under any other energy. Professional advancement may come under this transit…(it) often brings new responsibilities or reminds you of unfinished matters from the past that have to be finished now.”

What all of that means may not be immediately known, as apparently no other American will be in the room to listen in on the conversation.

Meanwhile, P45 is scheduled to visit the Queen on Friday the 13th. Apt?   Perhaps for Her Majesty. Transiting Saturn will exactly square the Queen’s Mercury (how we need to think) around 4 AM BST on SATURDAY. Saturn in hard aspect to Mercury, suggesting a need for mental focus and heavy thoughts. Gravitas, indeed.

In other news…

There are four candidates being bandied about as possible SCOTUS contenders: judges Raymond Kethledge, Brett Kavanaugh, Amy Coney Barrett, and Thomas Hardiman. We don’t have birth times for any of them, but of the lot, Hardiman’s horoscope has the most visible action, followed by Barrett, Kavenaugh and Kethledge. But again — no birth times — so we can’t completely assess potential. While not as obviously active, Kethledge’s horoscope has interesting synastry with P45’s.

Meanwhile…

Reflecting the “big ideas/communication” potential of Monday’s Mercury-Jupiter square, mixed in with the “news from underground” of the Sun’s face-off with Pluto: “A journalist’s conscience leads her to reveal her source to the FBI. Here’s why.”  Fascinating.

Elsewhere…

Extreme weather. Between last Thursday and Sunday we had a Grand Trine among the Sun, Jupiter (expansion) and Neptune (floods), a pattern suggesting excess. Record rainfall in Japan has caused severe flooding, landslides and mass evacuations. Scores have died. I wondered about a possible connection between planetary patterns and Japan, and ran a chart for Friday’s Third Quarter Moon, set in Tokyo: 4:51 PM JST 7/6/2018. There is a connection! I could not help but notice the difficult relationship among Neptune and the angles of the chart, as well as the positions of the Sun and the Moon. Perhaps an Avid Reader in Japan will want to comment on it….and take a look at the chart for the June 28th Full Moon chart set in Tokyo, too. Arigato gozaimasu!

U.S. Opposition to Breast-Feeding Resolution Stuns World Health Officials   Just read it. Because this is who we are right now — at least officially, in the world arena.  Yet another manifestation of the P45 inaugural chart, yes? Saturday & Sunday 7/7-8/2018: Moon in Taurus; Weekend Update

Oh to have a weekend driven by the Moon in Taurus — which we do, as of 8:51 AM ET on Saturday. Taurus seeks material comfort and security: food, drink, a snuggle with your sweetie.  Big ideas about faith, healing, spirits of all kinds and sweet, sweet music may also be integrated easily into your weekend plans, courtesy of Sunday’s harmony between the Sun and Neptune (exact at 10:42 AM ET), and Monday’s challenge (square) between Mercury (in regal Leo) and Jupiter, exact on MONDAY at 5:14 AM ET.

Any caveats? Sure. Saturday at 12:45 PM ET, Moon meets up with Uranus, suggesting a disruption in the Taurus need to keep things as they are “supposed to be.”  The next few hours are stabilizing, as the Moon harmonizes with Saturn. However, a clash of wills may arise around midnight, as retrograde Mars in rebel/freedom-seeking Aquarius squares the Taurus Moon.

On SUNDAY, Moon squares Mercury (how we need to think and communicate) and opposes Jupiter between 6:40 AM ET and 8:31 AM ET. Sounds like a probable Tweet storm to me, driven by the fantastic/dreamy potential of the morning’s Sun-Neptune trine. The rest of the day flows beautifully, with the Moon in harmony with Neptune, Sun and Pluto.

No sleeping in on Monday. The Taurus Moon will be void between 12:10 PM ET and 12:58 PM ET. Then it moves into infojunkie Gemini, giving us plenty to talk about for the next few days, including, but not limited to: P45’s pick to replace Anthony Kennedy on the Supreme Court.

And now, the news.

Oh my. Last weekend featured a humanitarian, revolutionary Aquarius Moon, coupled with a square between rebel Uranus and Mercury.  It was an apt backdrop for thousands of people taking to the streets to protest the separation of immigrant families at the U.S. border.    Meanwhile, in Mexico, “Lopez Obrador, an Atypical Leftist, Wins Presidency in a Landslide.”   Now this is a fun story because we have a birth time for Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador (a.k.a. AMLO), and as we know before we even look at it, the horoscope is hot.

AMLO is a Scorpio driven by the Moon in Aquarius, fronted by a Virgo Ascendant.  The Moon’s engagement with Uranus and Pluto suggest a humanitarian vision needing to disrupt the status quo. The Virgo Ascendant suggests a need to been seen as as perfectionist, seeking to make things right. Last month’s New Moon at 22 Gemini was on his 20 Gemini Midheaven, planting seeds in matters of profession and public status. How interesting that his 20 Scorpio Sun is being expanded three times by transiting Jupiter and that Jupiter sat on his 23 Scorpio Mercury  in late February and early March.  Mercury rules his Ascendant and Midheaven, so we see the potential for an expanded reach of ideas, impacting status and image.

It’s interesting to note that transiting Mars was opposing his 8 Aquarius Moon for much of last month, and that transiting Saturn has been squaring his 7 Libra Mars.  Many who know just enough about astrology to be dangerous will moan and groan when they think of transits from these two planets. Yes, Saturn can be a downer, but it also reflects opportunity for focus, discipline and ambition. Yes, Mars can be provocative and suggest conflict, but it can also reflect opportunities for assertion and courage.  Also of note:  transiting Uranus squaring AMLO’s natal Venus-Saturn conjunction at 2 degrees of Scorpio.  This suggests a need for innovation and change in matters of social expression, values, structure and authority.

I don’t know what was going on in AMLO’s horoscope when he ran for president twice before. Astrologically, we can see why his third effort worked like a charm.

UPDATE: Scott Pruitt, whose pink slip was only a matter of time, suggested by patterns in his horoscope noted in prior forecasts.  What finally pushed him out the door, to the sound of much rejoicing in the land? The second hit of transiting Mars opposing his Ascendant. The first was on June 15th; the second happened today, July 7th; the third happens on  October 6th. For the rest of the year he may also look forward to hits two and three from transiting Pluto to his natal Saturn, along with hits two and three from transiting Saturn to his people-pleasing, conflict-averse Libra Moon. Not exactly a walk in the park.  Cry me a polluted river.

Meanwhile…

When Mars is retrograde, it is not an opportune time to initiate a conflict, e.g., a lawsuit, divorce or war. Thus we may anticipate that the trade war against China initiated by P45 this week is not going to end well for the U.S.

Oh…this just in…one of the disruptions anticipated today around 12:45 PM ET, reflecting the Taurus Moon’s meet up with rebel Uranus: Chicago protesters have shut down part of a downtown freeway — typing this at 12:25 PM ET. What are they protesting? True to the Sun-Neptune (peace, non-violence) trine, they are protesting….gun violence. Meanwhile, supporters of gun rights held marches in ten cities…and “lamented the low turnout,” according to the Chicago Tribune. Coincidence or conspiracy?

Here’s another disruption the P45 peeps may hope no one noticed — since it was announced on a Saturday during a holiday week:  “Health Insurers Warn of Market Turmoil as P45 Suspends Billions in Payments,” — illegally, btw.  Initial contemplation of the cruel consequences of this brazen act left me feeling numb for a spell — until I remembered I’ve been writing about the Affordable Care Act  for years — and on January 17, 2017 I predicted that the Affordable Care Act would be experiencing an anguished streamlining and further disruption in the summer and fall of 2018.  I don’t know about you, but looking at the horoscope for ACA and understanding the potential suggested at this time does give me a measure of resolve to soldier on.

Midterm elections are on November 6th. There will be primaries and local elections before that date. Are you registered to vote? Have you moved since the last time you voted? You need to update your registration. Pass this helpful voter registration link on, and I will see you at the polls. Because if you don’t vote, somebody else will. This page on that voter registration site will tell you what elections will be held in your district this year.

Meanwhile, I’ll be looking forward to a new feature on Beth Owls Daughter’s blog. You all know she does her wonderful Tarot Card of the Week write-ups on Mondays. Last week she introduced Freedom Fridays. If you’re not inclined to be a frog sitting complacently in a pot of hot water (until it’s too late), you may enjoy the wisdom Beth will share.

In other news…

On Monday I anticipated that we were likely to see a new scandal involving sexual abuse. Did we? Yes. Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) is a former University of Ohio wrestling coach who made news this week for repeatedly denying that he knew that a physician working with the university’s wrestling team was sexually abusing students.  A number of wrestlers stated that Jordan was told — and did nothing. This is a developing story…and it is interesting to note that transiting Saturn has been putting a streamlining squeeze on Jordan’s natal Venus at 8 Aries, suggesting a need to get real in matters of worth and social expression. Transiting Saturn conjunct his South Node suggests an opportunity to release an outdated pattern in which expediency and status took priority over emotional sensitivity and caring.  It will be interesting to see where this case is at around October 10th, when transiting Mars catches up to Jordan’s natal Mercury at 10 degrees of Aquarius…AND transiting Venus turns retrograde at 10 Scorpio. We do not have a birth time for Jim Jordan — all we have is Feb 17, 1964 in Urbana, IL. Last year former House Speaker Jim Boehner called Jordan — who is a member of the House Freedom Caucus — a “legislative terrorist.” Well, Jordan does have Sun, Mars and Saturn all together in rebel Aquarius, and those three planets together does suggest a strong force of will.

UPDATE: North Korea. Remember when P45 tweeted at 5:56 AM ET on June 13th that North Korea was “no longer a threat?” I looked at the chart for that time — set at Andrews AFB — and rolled my eyes into the next county. It is possible to determine if a statement made — or a rumor heard — is true, by looking at the horoscope for the moment the statement is made. Suffice it to say that it is no surprise to be reading stories about North Korea’s apparent unwillingness to actually dismantle its nuclear whatevers.

GOOD NEWS! Croatia trounced Russia in the World Cup — and the Moon wasn’t  even void — so no upset by an underdog here.

GOOD NEWS! During July 4th’s all-day Moon void in Pisces, when everyone should have just been going with the flow, being empathetic, compassionate and feeling secure in the belief that we are all one whilst hanging at the pool, a few folks broke the Moon void rule of not making mountains out of molehills. One was “ID Adam,” who called the cops on a neighbor  — a woman who refused to show him her ID when he challenged her right to be at the neighborhood pool (residents are given key cards to access the pool). A video of the incident went viral, and ID Adam is now out of a job.  If only he had apologized and invited his neighbor over for cocktails. If only.  In a similar incident, a property manager also lost her job.

GOOD NEWS! “Lions Eat Rhino Poachers on South African Game Preserve.”   Because they can.

GOOD NEWS — so far.  In an effort involving divers from around the world, four boys have been rescued from that underground cave in Thailand. Fingers crossed…

Monday 7/2/2018: Sneak Peek at the Week — and the Month of July, Too

Good Morning!

The Aquarius Moon has been void of course since 6:56 PM ET on Sunday (last night). It won’t enter Pisces until 1:31 PM ET. Moon voids suggest a higher probability of twists and flakes in efforts to move forward in a straight line. Is that why my day began earlier than anticipated, thanks to the rare and unexpected sound of Pepper the Cat hurling a hairball? Or why the soymilk in my oatmeal is curdled?  Who knew soymilk could even do that?

And how is your day going? During the void, chill and take care of routine concerns. Once the Moon engages in Pisces, see if you notice a shift in focus —  to matters of compassion (or lack thereof) and ideals.

Notable planetary patterns this week include:

  • An all-day Pisces Moon void on WEDNESDAY, July 4th. All-day means 5:46 AM ET until 12:50 AM ET in THURSDAY.
  • In effect this week — and building to a crest on THURSDAY: a harmony (trine) between the Cancer Sun and Jupiter in Scorpio, exact at 7:04 AM ET.  45 minutes later, Mercury in regal Leo opposes retrograde Mars in rebel Aquarius.  A clash of will and sparks that fly, bigly and stubbornly, perhaps. By then the Moon will be in impulsive me-me-me Aries. You are personally affected by the Mercury-Mars face-off  if you have a planet or angle around 7 degrees of Leo, Aquarius, Scorpio or Taurus.
  • Jupiter, btw, is slowly down to a virtual stop next week, when it will turn direct. In Scorpio, Jupiter has reflected the expansion of scandalous revelations in matters of sex and money. We can expect a special focus in these affairs over the next couple of weeks, as Jupiter slows to a stop, turns around and eventually picks up speed.  Watch the headlines.  If you have a planet or angle around 13 degrees of Scorpio, Taurus, Leo or Aquarius, you are more personally affected.  Lucky you — for the most part — as Jupiter transits are more often experienced as expansion with an upside.
  • On FRIDAY at 3:51 AM ET we’ll have the Third Quarter Moon. This suggests a challenge between the needs of a me-me-me Aries Moon and the essence of an emotional security-centered Cancer Sun.
  • Over the weekend we are likely to be under Neptune’s rose-colored spell, as it makes a trine (harmony) with the Sun on SUNDAY at 10:42 AM ET. Big statements about a more perfect world of material comfort and security, brought to you by the weekend’s Taurus Moon and MONDAY’s 5:14 AM ET square between Mercury (how we need to think and communication) and expansive Jupiter.

Notable planetary patterns this MONTH include:

  • July 9th — Venus leaves Leo for Virgo, desperately seeking perfection until August 7th;
  • July 10th — Jupiter turns direct
  • July 11th — Venus trines Uranus, favoring unconventional attractions
  • July 12th — New Moon and solar eclipse at 20 Cancer…on a day featuring Sun opposing Pluto. Major power plays behind the scenes, likely featuring heads of state.
  • July 14th — Venus trines Saturn, suggesting grounded/sobering/serious news about women, money, arts and social expression
  • July 15th – July 21st — a week of no exact aspects among the planets, except the Moon, conjuring up an image of a ginormous ice shelf collapsing into the sea, just like that — with no one seeing it coming
  • July 19th — 1st Quarter Moon
  • July 22nd — Sun enters Leo; Venus harmonizes (sextiles) with Jupiter. This is the first of three contacts to Venus this week; look for Venusian concerns to pull focus
  • July 24th — Venus opposes Neptune — is it a dream or is it real?
  • July 25th — Sun squares Uranus…followed two days later by an opposition with Mars…
  • July 26th — …with Mercury turning retrograde until August 18th…
  • July 27th — …with a Full Moon/lunar eclipse engaged with the Sun-Mars opposition AND a harmony between Venus and Pluto….suggesting an especially volatile week involving themes of freedom/rebellion and leadership…headlines are likely to include tech breakthroughs, too…setting us up for…
  • August 1st — the second Mars-Uranus square, recalling stories that were hot around the first one on May 16th

We live in interesting times.

What’s going on in your horoscope? With all the action happening this month  and into summer, now is the time to find out what it all means to you. Here is the 411 on personal consultations. If you have children, I highly recommend you consider using astrology to understand them, too. Your relationship can’t help but improve.

I leave you with a link to the chat I had last week with the lovely Cynthia Rose of OmTimes Radio.  Her show is called “Standing in the Sunlight,” and that’s what we did for an hour. What fun! Please enjoy…and please share it with the rest of the Free World.

Many Avid Readers are already enjoying Beth Owls Daughter’s Really Useful Tarot Card of the Week. She writes (beautifully!) every Monday, and the cards are always in sync with planetary patterns. Here is last week’s card: the Page of Pentacles. Its focus on material concerns is well-taken, especially with the streamlining patterns we are just beginning to feel in the horoscope of the US. Yea verily, there is more streamlining in store — to be further addressed soon.

Thank you for reading this forecast.

Wednesday 6/27/2018: Full Moon in Capricorn; Patriarchal Rules; Stark Upsets & Justice Kennedy, Right on Schedule

…and let’s get down to business.

As of 11:52 AM ET, the Moon is no longer void in Sagittarius, waxing rhapsodic with righteous opinion. Now it is waxing to fullness in Capricorn.  The Moon will be full at 12:53 AM ET THURSDAY, suggesting that between now and then, emotions are on the rise.  Coming on the heels of the 9:28 AM ET opposition between the Sun and Saturn, this Full Moon may feel heavier than usual, especially if you have a planet or angle around 6 degrees of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn.   If you were born around the 28th of June, September, December or March, you qualify.

A Capricorn Moon needs to MAKE THINGS HAPPEN. It derives satisfaction from what it achieves — in practical, earthy terms. Capricorn refers to the Establishment and the big structures of society: governments, banks and other institutions. A Cancer Sun is concerned with establishing emotional, family and homeland security. You can see how it would be at odds with the Capricorn Moon, which tends to focus on how to best USE people, places and things…without regard to how their strategy makes people feel.  Weighty ambition and patriarchal controls are also suggested by a meet-up between the Moon and Saturn at 11:34 PM ET. See any stories like that in the news?

Here’s a story with themes of patriarchal control: Joe Jackson, Strict Manager and Father to Pop Royalty, Dead at 89

Get it off your desk today and tomorrow. The Moon will be void all day in Capricorn on FRIDAY, suggesting upsets, twists and flakes are more likely to disrupt efforts to move forward in a straight line.

And now, the news.

Speaking of upsets….

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez scored a major upset during last night’s Moon void, unseating Congressman Joe Crowley (D-NY) in the primary election.  Rep. Crowley has served 10 terms in Congress and is the 4th-ranking Democrat in the House.  In fact, he’s the chair of the House Democratic Caucus. But even without birth times for their respective horoscopes, it’s clear why Ms. Ocasio-Cortez — a 28 year old who campaigned for Bernie Sanders — could win the day. She: October 13, 1989 in New York. Sun at 20 Libra, currently being supercharged by transiting Pluto. Strong potential for empowerment! Possible Grand Cross among an Aries Moon (or Pisces, we need a birth time), Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Mercury. This is a woman who is destined to be a driving force. And what she has to say is destined to be noticed, with her Mercury in Libra at the Aries Point, square to rebel Uranus. Plus she is having her first Saturn return — often a time to implement a material ambition.  Fun fact: Wikipedia editors didn’t think she merited a page on Monday. If only they had looked at her horoscope…

In contrast, Rep. Crowley is working his way through a streamlining square of Saturn to his Venus, as well as Mars and the South Node sitting on his Saturn. We can appreciate why he’s not feeling the love at this time, and finding his ambition of helping others frustrated. He: March 16, 1962 in NY, NY.  Astrology is amazing, doncha know…

Meanwhile…

South Korea trounced Germany in the World Cup — a “shocking upset”

In other news, many Supreme Court decisions reinforced corporations, authoritarianism and patriarchy — as we would expect with Saturn’s continued passage through Capricorn. The potential for the consolidation of authoritarian control is likely to intensify as Saturn approaches its scheduled meet-up with PTB Pluto in 2020. Given that this meet-up will oppose a certain pattern in P45’s horoscope, it is possible that he may be feeling the squeeze more than he is able to exert it upon others. The operative word here is “possible.”

OMG. This just in…the potential for a dramatic change of status in Anthony Kennedy’s horoscope  — noted here last year — has happened. The Supreme Court Justice is retiring., says the Chicago Tribune. I do not believe we are talking about potential in the above paragraph. Happy stark Saturn in Capricorn opposing Sun in Cancer.  Here’s what I wrote about Saturn and Pluto in that earlier post:

There are 82 items on Amy Siskind’s list posted on June 24th, Week 32.
Where might this be going? In 2018, Saturn moves into Capricorn, the sign it rules. Saturn refers to patriarchy, structure, authority, ambition, corporations, governments. It will square the U.S. Venus and Jupiter in 2018, suggesting a streamlining squeeze. Then it will square the U.S. Sun and Saturn in 2019. The U.S. last experienced this pattern in 2010 and 2011, so a look at government initiatives back then would be helpful — fodder for another post. In 2020, Saturn will meet up with Pluto, which it has not done since 1982. Here’s a helpful article on the Saturn-Pluto cycle.   In 2021 and 2022, the U.S. will have its first Pluto return, along with transiting Neptune squaring our natal Mars and our natal Neptune. Breaking down and rebuilding (Pluto) on a new vision (Neptune-Mars)?
Finally, Justice Anthony Kennedy. I looked at his horoscope a year ago — I thought I’d written about it, but apparently not. Over the weekend headlines were buzzing about a possible retirement. Transiting Mars and Uranus (action! change!) now putting pressure on the area of his horoscope referring to his relationship with the public, no doubt.  Next year,  transiting Uranus and Pluto will be activating the angles of his horoscope. A big change of status would be apt at that time.

My coping strategy  tonight will be the newest episode of The Handmaid’s Tale .

Elsewhere…

Whenever a planet turns retrograde – as Mars did yesterday —  we see associations with that planet pulling focus. Look at the headlines and you will notice a plethora of Mars stories, for better or for worse. We’re talking anger, courage, aggression, guns, explosions, cars etc. etc. And then there is this: “Big dick energy: what is it, who has it and should we care?”

If we do not exercise our sense of humor in these interesting times, surely we will lose it.

If you’re free today at 4 PM ET/1 PM PT and near a computer, I will be talking astrology with OmTimes Radio host Cynthia Rose. Her show is called “Standing in the Sunlight” — which is ultimately where we all want to be.  Here’s the link to the show — join me, won’t you?

Monday 6/25/2018: Sneak Peek at the Week; Mars Retrograde Survival Guide

Good Morning!

The work week begins with exuberance, driven by the Moon in high-flying Sagittarius. Sag is a sign that needs to tell the world its opinion on everything, with the more boundaries pushed, the better. Why just look at all of the opinions flying out of the Supreme Court!

Today could lift your spirits higher than the weekend’s moody bastard Moon in Scorpio.  Or it may add hot air to a simmering situation. When the Moon is in Sag, consider thinking outside the box;  take a walk in the woods; take in a foreign film — anything that allows you to consider collective beliefs outside your usual comfort zone. And get it off your desk today, as the Sag Moon goes void tomorrow (TUESDAY) at 8:54 AM ET, not to enter the next sign — Capricorn — until 11:52 AM ET on WEDNESDAY.

Avid Readers know that Moon voids are excellent for taking care of routine concerns and not making mountains of crises out of a molehill. Here is Avid Reader Pam, who writes about her experience last Friday, when the Libra Moon was void between 6:34 PM PT and 12:11 PM PT (she’s on the West Coast, hence the Pacific Time Zone):

So.  I want to report an extreme case of moon void drama:

This morning I attempted to turn on my computer as I do every week day.  NOTHING.  And more nothing.  PANIC in my heart.  (though I use drop box and every document is instantly backed up)  Still.  WTF.  I tell myself the moon is void – Elisabeth says, “much ado about nothing.”  I pray the wisdom holds true.  I’ll spare you the various attempts and calls.  Finally, I get the number of a PC repair guy.  He said, “If you’re getting a blinking light, it’s got to be the mother board.”  Heart sinks deeper.  My hubby looks online and suggests that we remove the battery.  We do.  I hold my breath and press the button.  I hear noises.  ET VOILA!   I look at the clock:  12:26, just a few minutes past the mood void.  I called the PC repair guy back and let him know.  We have ordered a new battery from amazon and it will be here in a day.  Meanwhile, I’ll use the computer without the battery (and it’s lighter).

Much Ado About Nothing, indeed!

Thank you, Avid Reader Pam!  Your other Moon voids this week are FRIDAY 4:57 AM ET until 12:37 AM ET on SATURDAY — suggesting another day to skip out of the office early for the weekend.

Notable planetary patterns this week include:

  • An exuberant and indulgent connection between Venus and Jupiter, exact at 1:19 AM ET. This can suggest wretched excess in matters of consumption, evidenced in my own personal world yesterday by the mob scene at the local TJ Maxx — as if it were Christmas Eve. Seriously. Expansion in matters referring to women, food, social expression, art and money may also be hot. You’re feeling it personally if you have a planet or angle around 13 degrees of Scorpio, Leo, Aquarius or Taurus. If you’re Recep Erdogan of Turkey, with a suspected Midheaven of 13 Scorpio, you reportedly just won re-election, with expanded presidential powers.
  • On WEDNESDAY the Cancer Sun (emotional security, homeland, nourishment) is opposed by Saturn in patriarchal Capricorn at 9:28 AM ET. You will feel this more personally if you have a planet around 6 degrees of Aries, Libra, Capricorn and Cancer. What is the squeeze? Who is the authority?
  • On THURSDAY we will have a Full Moon at 6 Capricorn at 12:53 AM ET, offering illumination and release in matters similar to the potential suggested by the Sun-Saturn opposition.
  • On FRIDAY, Mercury (how we need to think and communicate) leaves Cancer for drama king Leo…and is squared by rebel Uranus on SATURDAY at 9:01 AM ET. Look for innovation, showmanship, tech breakthroughs and wackiness in communications making headline.

HOWEVER, the biggest shift this week is MARS, planets of action, anger and assertion. It turns retrograde on TUESDAY at 5:05 PM ET…moving backwards through the heavens (from our vantage point on Earth) until August 27th. We experience Mars retrogrades “every two years or so,” according to an official NASA site — which also offers a nifty animation explaining why planets seem to be moving backwards in the sky from our point of view.

Retrograde planets symbolize an opportunity for introspection and review. They may also suggest a need to connect with an inner authority, as opposed to an external outlet.

As the planet of action, you might imagine that Mars moving backwards is not a comfortable orientation. Thus you may notice an uptick in the levels of irritation, impatience and frustration between now and August 27th. Projects you thought were good to go after May 12th may hit an unexpected snag, as Mars backtracks over the ground it covered since then. Initially the issues involved may include  freedom, rebellion, humanitarianism, technology, aviation, astrology, social networks and unconventional attraction.  Why? Because Mars is retrograding in Aquarius. On August 13th,  Mars will back into Capricorn. Then we may note a shift to matters of corporations and other Establishment/patriarchal concerns. Whatever the hitch, bear in mind that there may be a second opportunity for a revision when Mars finally moves forward. We won’t get into new territory  until Mars  it hits 10 degrees of Aquarius on October 10th.

Wherever Mars is traveling through your horoscope, it may feel like a truck spinning its wheels in the mud.  It can generate a LOT of heat. Frustration built up can lead to an urge to jump into reckless action. This is a potential pitfall of Mars retrograde. You are more personally affected if you have planets or angles at 9 degrees of  Aquarius, Taurus, Scorpio or Leo — and my money says you’ve been feeling the burn all month.

An appropriate use of Mars retrograde would be as an opportunity to plan an effective review and strategy in the area of your horoscope impacted. Think of a coach calling a time out on the playing field. Everyone gets into a huddle — literally turning inward.  Are those players sitting around doing nothing? No! But they are definitely not making any mad dashes on field.

That being said, conventional astrological wisdom suggests caution when contemplating launching certain initiatives during this time:

A marriage contract
A sexual relationship
Filing for divorce
Elective surgery
Taking title to property
Buying a car
Hiring a new employee (unless it’s a temp)
Quitting your job in a frustrated huff
Starting a lawsuit
Starting a war

Notice that the operative word here is caution.  Sometimes life has other plans. When in doubt, consult your local astrologer about your own personal horoscope, which has a lot of moving parts!!

Now then. This particular Mars retrograde period is likely to be more volatile than usual. Why? Because, as noted here before, Mars is in a tense pattern with rebel Uranus all summer and into fall. That pattern (a square) will be exact for the second and third time on August 1st and September 18th, sparking whatever was going on around May 16th , which was the first square. Clear?

Not only that, but Mars will retrograde back and forth over the South Node on July 12th and October 4th. The first one in this series happened on June 10th. The South Node is a point referring to discharge and destruction of patterns that no longer serve (and may be toxic). What stories were making headlines around June 10th? I don’t know — go back and re-read these forecasts. Point is, we’re likely to see an advance on those stories around July 12th and October 4th.

But wait — there’s more! July 12th is also a New Moon/solar eclipse…on a day with the Cancer Sun exactly opposed by Pluto.  I anticipate intense power plays, catharses and news from underground. A second eclipse on July 27th involves Mars in opposition to the Sun and conjunct the Moon.  It’s just all so…oh…what is the word here….interesting…and also potentially volatile. The upside potential is a summer of breakthroughs. And you get to be a part of all of it — huzzah!.

When was the last time you consulted with your astrologer? If it’s been over a year, you’re overdue. Planetary patterns between now and the end of the year pose unique challenges, and my money says you will benefit from understanding what it means for your unique horoscope. We’ve got Mars going retrograde next week…three eclipses in July and August…a Mercury retrograde and a Venus retrograde to navigate. Here is the 411 on consultations. If you just want to know how Mars retrograde is likely to manifest in your horoscope, I will send you a personalized write-up for $48.88. And now, the news.

Saturday’s opposition between Mercury and Pluto boded well for investigative journalism and no holds barred communication. The Sunday NYT magazine did not disappoint. “All the Right People: How one conservative think tank stocked the federal government for the Trump era”   The think tank in question is the Heritage Foundation and this article is a must-read.  It is fascinating to note that the horoscopes of its recently ousted leader (Jim DeMint) and his replacement (Kay Coles James) are being activated now. Jim DeMint has Mars at 9 Leo, along with a Jupiter-Uranus square that is making a disruptive contact to the Sun-Saturn square of the United States. Read the article and marvel how he applied that shake-up potential. Birth data for DeMint: Sep 2 1951 in Greenville, SC. For Ms. James: Jun 1 1949.  In her horoscope, Neptune is engaged with the US Sun-Saturn square, while her Venus at  22 degree Gemini (activated by the recent 22 degree Gemini New Moon) is engaged with the U.S. Mars-Neptune square. She can’t help but love all that the US Mars-Neptune square suggests.

The other big feature in the NYT magazine was built on #MeToo, as anticipated: “Should Statutes of Limitations for Rape Be Abolished?”.   “Across the country, time-limiting laws prevent scores of sexual assault cases from being prosecuted, in spite of persuasive evidence or a confession,” the article begins.  Elsewhere, social media was abuzz when a Walgreen’s customer reported that a pharmacist refused to fill a prescription for meds that would have terminated her unviable pregnancy. “Unviable” here means there was no fetal heartbeat. Yet another woman denied service was Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who was asked to leave a restaurant “on moral grounds.” File that one under “I told you so,” and be prepared for continued disruptions involving the press secretary’s social expression, values and aesthetics through 2018.

Also revealed: a young French woman took a jog along the beach and unknowingly crossed into the U.S. from Canada, where she had traveled to visit her mother.  Like many joggers, it did not occur to her to carry her passport or any other identification. She was stopped by U.S. Border Patrol, searched and then held captive for two weeks.  Reading the article in WaPo, for  the life of me I could not figure out why Border Patrol would treat a woman jogger from France so harshly, until I saw her photo in another publication. How times have changed since 1999, when a friend and I flew to Vancouver for a weekend getaway. My friend forgot to bring her drivers license — silly rabbit — and what do you think the Canadian immigration officials did? They noted her name, address and the fact that she had a return ticket to fly back to LA in two days — and  then they let her into the country. No problem at all returning home to the U.S., either.  Gosh how I miss those days of innocence….

Big news for women in Saudi Arabia: you’re free to drive!

And if you’re free  tonight at 9:30 PM ET/6:30 PM ET, please  tune in for another exciting episode of COSMIC TUESDAYS — which inexplicably airs on Mondays, but is no less cosmic. It’s always fun to talk shop with host Anthony Picco, and if you join the chat room, you can ask questions, too. Here’s the 411:

Friday 6/22/2018 & the Weekend: News and More News

TGIF!

The Libra Moon has been void of course since 9:34 PM ET last night. That’s your excuse for any twists or flakes in your morning commute. Roll with them; focus on routine concerns and do not get carried away by crises that may crop up between now and 3:11 PM ET. Chances are they are much ado about nothing, and likely to sort themselves out when the Moon plunges into Scorpio this afternoon. Although…if there’s an upset in your world around 6:25 PM ET, that one you may need to take seriously, as it would be reflecting the Moon’s opposition to rebel Uranus. Let’s see if there are any surprises in the Friday afternoon news dump, especially dirt-digging ones, reflecting a “mince no words” face-off between Mercury (mindset, communication) and Pluto (depth; ruthlessness) in the wee hours on SATURDAY. The Sun’s cooperative alignment with Uranus at 1:58 AM ET on SATURDAY also suggests a disruptive spark.

The Moon will be in Scorpio all weekend, driving the days and nights with a need for depth and substance. No more airy-fairy Moon-in-Libra theories and talk; Scorpio needs to organize, consolidate and control — preferably with passion. You are free to shop on Saturday, but note that the Moon will be void on SUNDAY from 10 AM ET until 12:29 AM ET on MONDAY.   Purchases made during Moon voids often do not serve their intended purpose, yet you may be more inclined to indulge in impulse, courtesy of a challenging aspect (a square) between Venus in drama queen Leo and Jupiter, exact on MONDAY at 1:19  PM ET. Something big in the news — involving money, women (#metoo?), art, aesthetics, social expression?

Anyhoo…chill on Sunday and no sleeping in on Monday.  The Moon will be in high-flying Sag, all dressed up and probably nowhere to go, with Mars (action, anger) at a standstill, about to turn retrograde on TUESDAY. Not to mention a tense opposition between the Sun and Saturn on WEDNESDAY that might possibly clip the wings of a few dear leaders…or embolden them to impose controls on the rest of us. Oh, but I’m getting ahead of myself.. Then again, maybe not. “Supreme Court Rules That Warrants Generally Are Required to Collect Cellphone Data.” So there.

And now, the news.

UPDATE: Nikki Haley, the US ambassador to the UN — last discussed here in April (end of the forecast). With transiting Uranus squaring her Sun, she continues to act as a disruptive, independent force. This week she announced the withdrawal of the U.S. from the UN Human Rights Council and went ballistic over a UN report on extreme poverty in the US, claiming it to be “misleading.”

UPDATE:  Paul Ryan, Speaker of the House. With transiting Mars at a virtual standstill on his Aquarius Sun, we anticipated that June and July would be especially provocative.  Yesterday a GOP congressman trashed him on Twitter – and deleted it, but the point is, this attack made news. Also in the news: Speaker Ryan and Mark Meadows (R-NC) got into a fight on the House floor.  Oh, and the  latest GOP budget proposal recalls the Speaker’s 2011 budget plan to slash the income you would receive from your years of investment in Medicare and Social Security.  Why would they want to do that? Oh, to make up for the budget deficits the US will experience, now that corporations and other “haves” received a big fat tax cut.  You did not have to be an astrologer to see that one coming, except with respect to its timing.

Meanwhile, somewhere between this week’s potentially forgiving  Grand Trine among Mercury, Jupiter and Neptune, P45 signed an executive order touted as a stop to the separation of immigrant children from their parents. OK, but what about reuniting the thousands of children who are being held in undisclosed places all over the country?  Right. What about them?

Avid Readers know that this fascist trend 1) is not a trend; 2) is happening around the world; and 3) was written about years ago  — and on multiple occasions — in this forecast as a likely potential, given planetary patterns.  In Hungary, for example, this week legislators passed a law that would send anyone helping an illegal immigrant to jail.   And the musical “Billy Elliot” was canceled in Budapest after a news commentator called it “gay propaganda.” If you’re thinking of fleeing the United States, perhaps you do not wish to move to Hungary.

Meanwhile…

I meant to share a couple of items about thought and time control, suggested by last Friday’s opposition between Mercury and Saturn. Exhibit A: in Pittsburgh, a political cartoonist who worked for the Post-Gazette for 25 years said he was fired because his editors objected to his anti-P45 cartoons (today, the cartoonist found a new paying gig).    Exhibit B: in Japan, a worker was docked half a day’s pay for repeatedly taking a lunch break three minutes earlier than scheduled. Harsh!

In other news…

Yesterday the Sun was at the Aries Point — at 0 degrees of Cancer, a.k.a. the Summer Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere. The start of a new season suggests a turning point — and a focus on leaders. We also had an opposition between Venus in dramarama Leo and Mars in “but-what-about-the-rest-of-us” Aquarius. Venus and Mars oppositions can be juicy and illuminating, but potentially regrettable. It was fascinating to hear that the CEO (leader) of Intel (tech company) resigned because he had a consensual relationship with an employee. Also fascinating: the Reuters article did not mention that the CEO — Brian Krzanich — is married. Thus I initially wondered what all the fuss was about.  2017 had to have been an anguishing year for Mr. Krzanich, with transiting Pluto on his natal Saturn at 18 Capricorn. Next year, he can figure out what “new lease on life” his second Saturn return is likely to bring., along with his zillion-dollar retirement. Birth data: May 9, 1960 — no time — in Santa Clara County, CA.

Also soon to have a second Saturn return: Tom Kiefer. He’s a former janitor at a Border Patrol processing center in Arizona. One day he started collecting the things that were seized from immigrants. He’s now turned them into art. No exact birth date for Mr. Kiefer, but take a look at his work here and here — and thanks to New York magazine for publishing these collages.

Another leader making news:  New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, who gave birth to a baby girl yesterday.  Fascinating coincidence: the baby was born on Benazir Bhutto’s birthday.  Benazir Bhutto is the only other world leader to give birth while in office.

UPDATE: Melania Trump, whose horoscope suggests she, like Brian Krzanich, may also experiencing a bit of angst or anguish. All month a midpoint between the Sun and Saturn has been activated by transiting Mars, suggesting “running hot and cold; energies feel confined; the sense of futility” (according to astrologer Noel Tyl). Melania also has the midpoint Uranus/Pluto at the Aries Point, suggesting that she can’t help but attract attention as a bit of a disruptive force. Hmm. Yesterday, the Sun was at the Aries Point, activating that disruptive midpoint. And yesterday transiting Venus (women, fashion, social expression) in dramarama regal Leo was adding more pressure to that already squeezed Sun/Saturn midpoint. Bottom line: Melania was an “agent of coat chaos” — yes, that’s an actual headline — with a fashion statement made while traveling to an immigration detention center. Coincidence or conspiracy? I dunno…but why else would she make such a fashion statement now?
