Thursday & Friday 2/23-24/2017: Mars-Pluto Power Plays and Such

Well?

Anyone feel like biting someone’s head off yesterday? Did someone try to bite off yours? I have been hearing stories! Or, on the upside, did anyone move heaven and earth to achieve a life-changing goal? Of course there is an upside — and here’s an example: a dear friend whose horoscope is directly affected by yesterday’s challenge between Mars (action! courage!) and Pluto (resistance is futile) announced the birth of her child — fulfilling a dream she’s had for many years. Huzzah!

The Moon went void in Capricorn on Wednesday at 10:24 PM ET. It doesn’t regain its focus until 12:17 PM ET, when it enters Aquarius. You could make some serious networking connections and pitches this afternoon, supported by an alignment between Mercury (mind, travel, communication) and Saturn (structure, authority).  There are no hits to the Moon for most of the next two days; in fact there’s only one: an easy alignment between the Moon and Venus at 10:41 AM ET on Friday.

And now, the news.

I was expecting something ground-breaking and cosmic with Mars in a charged hit to Uranus, Pluto and Jupiter. I wasn’t disappointed. “Thrilling discovery of seven Earth-sized planets orbiting nearby star,” says the Guardian. Beam me up!

Elsewhere, Mars in the hot seat suggests cars and head injuries. So of course race car driver Danica Patrick would be talking about how many concussions she’s had in her career — and so is Dale Earnhardt Jr., one of her peers.  More on cars: Insider Uber’s Aggressive, Unrestrained Workplace Culture.” Meanwhile, Mars refers to macho, sports, male sex drive. Guys: strenuous exercise may be hurting your sex life.

Another macho power play: the president of Azerbaijan appoints a new vice president: his wife. Elsewhere, four men in Indonesia have as much wealth as the poorest 100 million of its citizens. Globally, a new Oxfam study reports that six men have as much wealth as half of the world’s population; last month it was eight; last year it was 62. Staggering. Sustainable?

Meanwhile, here’s an NYT piece about the members of Mar-a-Lago, P45’s private club. The initiation fee was raised this year from $100,000 to $200,000. The cost to American taxpayers for P45’s three weekend jaunts from DC to Florida this month: $10 million.

Pluto refers to decay. I loved this story about the so-called “compost king of New York.” What a Mars-in-Aries pioneer! And while we’re on the subject of power plays and dumps, yesterday  P45 “withdrew guidance stating federal law requires transgender students to have unfettered access to bathrooms and locker rooms matching their gender identity.” Apparently Betsy DeVos argued against that power play, but new Attorney General Jeff Sessions was for it, as NYT columnist Gail Collins cheerfully reports.

Mars with Pluto and Uranus suggest anger and upsets. Have you been paying attention to the levels of anger being expressed at town halls around the country? Take a listen to these questions posed to Sen. Tom Cotton in Arkansas; Joni Ernst in Iowa; Mitch McConnell in Kentucky;  Dave Brat in Virginia; Leonard Lance in New Jersey,  and so on. Let the record show that women are asking a lot of those questions.

Here’s an upset at the Federal Election Commission: why did commissioner Ann Ravel resign and what news from underground regarding power and resources does she want everyone to know?

It’s hard to find news that does not involve — however tangentially — a reference to P45. Yea verily, his horoscope continues to be on fire. But a NYT reporter strove mightily for an entire week to ignore such stories — and here’s what he learned.

True confession: I would rather talk about your horoscope than P45’s. Does your horoscope have the potential to set the world on fire? What about your children and/or your significant other? Here’s the 411 on personal consultations. And here’s a link to my Cosmic Tip Jar, if you find my writing worthwhile and would like to support it.

Thank you for reading this forecast.

Tuesday 2/21/2017: Sneak Peak at the Week; Mars and Mercury on the March

Onward!

It’s a short week, but there is much to be said and done, with strong potential for surprises in store. Mars — planet of  action, anger and courage — continues to be in the hot heat, making supercharged connections to Pluto (on Wednesday at 3:59 AM ET) and Uranus (on Sunday at 7:17 PM ET). Mars challenged by Pluto suggests explosive power plays and extraordinary effort. Mars in tandem with Uranus suggests innovative action and upsets to the status quo in matters of technology, space, aviation, brain surgery, steel, war, revolution.

Yes, we’ve experienced this pattern before. The last time Mars engaged with these two heavyweights was in October, and here’s what was written on October 4th:

If a surprise were going to show up in October (as opposed to the power play Friday’s Sun-Pluto challenge may bring), I’d look to the days leading up to the Full Moon on the 16th, when rebel Uranus will oppose the Sun and conjoin the me-me-me Aries Moon. Mars (action) and Mercury (communication) are in a combative connection on the 13th. On the 19th, Mars (assertion and action) meets up with Pluto in Capricorn, sign of the Powers That Be. Hours later, Mercury (ideas, communication) is disrupted by a hard connection to Uranus, suggesting innovation, shock or some other lightning bolt from the blue. In the U.S., the third and final debate between Hillary Clinton and her opponent happens on the 19th. Yowza. The days leading up to the 29th may also be provocative, as Mars is challenged by Uranus.

Remember what happened on October 29th?

So we are likely to see a “next level” of action on events that happened in October.  And here are a few headlines from the last time Mars was engaged with Uranus and Pluto while also being in Aries — March of 2015.

An additional level of expansion is also in effect, courtesy of a face-off between Mars and jolly Jupiter, exact on the 27th. All told, these patterns suggest market volatility, likely to the upside.

The other planet in the hot seat this week is Mercury — how we need to think, travel, communicate and go about our business. Fun stuff: mercantile, mercenary, merchandise…Mercury…see the connection? Now you understand why, when Mercury is retrograde, astrologers advise caution when negotiating deals and signing contracts. In any case, our minds and all the things Mercury refers to are likely to be abuzz, continuing from last Thursday’s harmony with Mars (walking and talking — remember?).

Last night at 11:01 PM ET, Mercury was in harmony with rebel/techgeek Uranus; today at 1:27 PM ET it is in an expansive harmony with Jupiter. Big ideas, lawsuits, issues of fairness and justice — and of course, media, education and other collective belief systems.  On Thursday, Mercury is in harmony with Saturn , suggesting an easy gravitas in matters of opinion, foreigners and other Sagittarius-ruled concerns.

Wednesday is the most charged day this week. Mars will square Pluto on a day driven by the Moon in proactive, corporate, patriarchal Capricorn — supercharged by Pluto, Mars, Uranus and Jupiter between 2:34 PM ET and 10:24 PM ET. If you are not harnessing this power drive for your own quest for world domination, be mindful of those around you who are. Choose your battles wisely. Rash and reckless behavior is likely to be evident (like we haven’t had enough, with Mars in Aries since the end of January). Take it out at the gym, not at some guy named Jim, mmkay?

If you have a planet or angle around 18-20 degrees of Aries, Cancer, Libra or Capricorn, you know where to find me. Let’s talk about how to manage this rare and life-changing push for an empowered perspective and release of what no longer serves. This will be going on for you personally until early 2018.

Mercury leaves wonky Aquarius for dreamy Pisces on Saturday at 6:08 PM ET — for a stay until March 12th.  There’s a New Moon and eclipse on Sunday — also in Pisces — at 9:58 AM ET. More on that later this week.

Your Moon voids this week — natural breaks where it may be helpful to focus on routine concerns and roll with the twists and flakes that may derail your efforts to move forward in a straight line — are as follows: Wednesday 10:24 PM ET – Thursday 12:17 PM ET; Saturday 1:11 PM  ET — 7:24 PM ET. Onward, onward, onward!

And now, the news.

The UAE gets a special shout-out for two spectacular items reflecting the pioneering thrust of Mars in Aries, supported by Mercury in tech-savvy Aquarius. Dubai plans to launch of driverless flying cars this summer.  And adding to its announced mission to Mars back in 2015, the UAE now plans to have a city on the Red Planet — built by 2117 with international cooperation, according to a tweet from Sheikh Mohammed, the prime minister of the UAE and emir of Dubai. This futuristic goal is totally in line with planetary patterns at the time of the Sheikh’s birth; his 22 Cancer Sun has just experienced the third hit from space cadet Uranus. Astrology is amazing.

In the U.S., our best idea to take flight last week was the return of free meals to Delta’s economy class. But hey — still in tune with planetary patterns!

Bill Gates made news when he suggested that robots who take jobs once done by humans should be taxed. Robots and their impact on the economy was the subject of yesterday’s NYT editorial.

Also reflecting current patterns: a domestic terror plot was foiled when a Florida man who planned to plant bombs in Target stores  — in order to make a killing in the stock market —  was arrested. In South Carolina, a white supremacist was also foiled in his efforts to plan an attack  —  “in the spirit of Dylann Roof.”  Just letting you know in case you’ve only been hearing about the horrible thing that happened in Sweden according to something P45 saw on the TeeVee.  No mention of the fine intelligence work done by law enforcement in foiling those two very real planned domestic attacks on P45’s twitfeed, so here’s a bit of gratitude: thank you, law enforcement! Meanwhile, absolutely nothing happened in Sweden on Friday, except maybe stuff like this. Clear?

This just in…”Long-winded Speech Could Be an Early Sign of Alzheimer’s”  Combine the Mars and Mercury action with Neptune (befuddlement, fantasy, lies), which is still running wild. Neptune refers to toxins, too… in a month dominated by Air and Fire signs (with the except of Neptune in Pisces, a Water Sign — and Pluto in earthy Capricorn), it’s intriguing to see a series of articles in the Guardian on…air pollution.

Oh, and speaking of hot air — we’re on track to having another record-setting February. Not that the recently-confirmed head of the EPA — Scott Pruitt — is likely to do anything to slow that runaway train. It should be an interesting week for Mr. Pruitt, whose confirmation was rushed through the Senate last week by elected representatives with Other Priorities, despite a judge ordering the release of thousands of emails between Mr. Pruitt and people working in the oil and gas industries. Those emails were supposed to be released today — after his confirmation — which is exactly what those elected representatives with Other Priorities intended to happen (I take some comfort in the fact that patterns present at Mr. Pruitt’s birth suggest he is about to enter a two-year phase of intense and potentially anguished effort).

Meanwhile, I hope the mainstream media keeps a strong spotlight on those elected representatives, because for all the coverage the Tweeter-in-Chief is getting for doing what he does naturally, he is only able to do this because those elected representatives are allowing it. When we compare the chart for the start of the 115th Congress vs. the inauguration of P45, the former is stronger, if you ask me. What’s in it for them?

Ooh! Here’s a fun item that just posted — reflecting planetary patterns focusing on the brain, speech and bewilderment: “When Mismatched Voices and Lips Make Your Brain Play Tricks.”  This item is not fun at all: David Cassidy announced that he has dementia, which apparently runs in his family. This sad news is in sync with transiting Uranus, ruler of his 9th House (mass communication) meeting up with his 22 Aries Sun, ruler of his 3rd House (how he needs to think and speak). Uranus making a challenging aspect to a planet suggests potential upsets. His current concert tour may be his last. Here is his horoscope.

When the TV show “The Partridge Family” premiered in September of 1970, we could see how Mr. Cassidy could become such a heartthrob, given once-in-a-lifetime transits and solar arcs from expansive/lucky Jupiter, Moon and Venus in 1970 and 1971. Are you old enough to remember having a massive crush on him after hearing this song? And if you happened to take time to watch that clip from the show, did you cringe at the laugh track added in response to the “joke” about women playing professional hockey? That was then…before 1972’s Title IX…enacted in the aftermath of the revolutionary Uranus-Pluto conjunction of 1965-66. How far have we come since then?

Thank you for reading this forecast. To find out if you’re likely to become a national heartthrob in your lifetime, book a personal consultation. We will have an excellent discussion together.

Friday 2/17/2017: A Clown Car of News, As Promised

And now, the news — featuring mostly this week’s headlines, in no particular order.

Let’s start with Harrison Ford, who made headlines this week when he landed his plane on the wrong runway at an airport in California.  Coincidence or conspiracy: Two years ago, when Mars was last in Aries and one week out from the volatile contacts with Jupiter, Uranus and Pluto we will see in the next two weeks, Harrison Ford crashed an airplane.   In this latest instance, let the record show that Mr. Ford is designed to attract prominence in matters of career and mindset/travel/communication. His Mercury is in Cancer at the Aries Point and in touch with his Libra Ascendant and his Cancer Midheaven. Where was the Moon on Monday when he missed the runway? In Libra, in contact with Mercury, ASC and MC. Whatever was going on in his mind regarding travel suddenly attracted attention.

Not only that, but Mr. Ford is right in the middle of the third and final hit of transiting Uranus (aviation, accidents, revelations) to his Cancer Sun, Moon and Sun/Moon midpoint. Here is his horoscope. Guess what happened within a week of the second exact hit to his Sun/Moon midpoint (which reflects relationship concerns)? This happened in November, and that’s when Carrie Fisher (may she rest in peace) revealed that she and Mr. Ford had an affair on the set of the first Star Wars. It would not surprise me if she told him about her intention to tell the story in April of 2016, which is when he had the first hit of this pattern.  Meanwhile, I wonder if Mr. Ford is planning an amazing 75th birthday bash. Planetary patterns are ridiculously strong for him in matters of reward for a job well done; a life well-lived. His Uranian transit cycle concludes on March 14th; we’ll see by then if he gets to keep his pilot’s license.

Another non-political headline in sync with planetary patterns, specifically Thursday’s cooperative alignment between Mars (which rules the head) and Mercury (thinking) in tech-savvy Aquarius:
“Portable brain-scanning helmet could be future for rapid brain injury assessments.”

Next on deck: in an effort to establish power and control, walk the talk and make a persuasive, substantive and in-depth pitch, P45 nominated a replacement pick for Secretary of Labor (no birth date currently available for Alexander Acosta) and gave a press conference. But as the astrological adage goes, “You can not elect what the natal horoscope denies.” Therefore, if you’re planning a wedding and you hire an astrologer to elect a favorable date, but there is nothing in your own horoscope to suggest a marriage or compatibility with your intended spouse, a fabulous wedding date and time is not likely to be enough to keep the two of you together. Got that? Here is a transcript of today’s press conference. Do you find it deep and substantive?

On another note, back in November we noted certain transits from Chiron would be hot in P45’s horoscope in 2017 — here is that prior post. He’s had two exact Chiron hits so far: on January 26th and February 12th. As I wrote in November, Chiron suggests potential exposure of toxic relationships going back years. Guess what happened on January 26th? Acting Attorney General Sally Yates informed P45 that Michael T. Flynn might be compromised by his relationship to certain Russians. Guess what happened on February 12th? P45 lied about his knowledge of Flynn’s phone calls. The next day, Flynn resigned. Fascinating. Are there more Chiron hits in store this year? You betcha.

Also fascinating: I was expecting to see a story about Stephen K. Bannon feeling provoked or provocative on February 15th. Then this showed up, right on schedule: “Steve Bannon ‘livid’ with Breitbart Over Priebus Report”.  We see another potential provocation on Friday or Saturday. Elsewhere, transiting Mars (action! aggression!) was exactly opposing Vladimir Putin’s Libra Sun when news of 1) a Russian spy ship 30 miles off the coast of Connecticut; and 2) the deployment of a Russian missile in apparent violation of a U.S. treaty was reported. Astrology is amazing.

Also in sync with planetary patterns, Mark Zuckerberg posted a 6500-page “mission statement” on his Facebook page that “reads like a state of the union address, tackling everything from fake news to growing anti-globalization sentiment.”  Now that is likely a deep, substantive and persuasive pitch for how to walk the talk, though I confess I have yet to read it.

What’s going on in your horoscope? When are you likely to be feeling provoked and/or ready for action?  Is this the right time for you to get married? Move to France? Go back to school? Awareness of planetary patterns in your unique horoscope offers confidence and coping strategies, improving your timing and your relationships.  Here’s the 411 on consultations

Meanwhile, as you may know I am a big fan of the Washington Post’s “Daily 202,” a news digest sent out via email by reporter James Hohmann (presumably with the assistance of a Really Helpful Staff). I am thrilled that many Avid Readers are finding themselves compelled to become paying subscribers to this fine newspaper! We’ve got ten more months of controlling Saturn reflecting the potential muzzling of collective belief systems, foreigners, education and journalism — all matters of concern to Sagittarius, where Saturn is transiting now. I am happy to pay WaPo for its efforts. Real news needs to taken seriously.

But there’s always room for improvement, as I noted two days ago, when Mr. Hohmann’s opening line was this:

THE BIG IDEA: President Trump should thank his lucky stars that Republicans control both chambers of Congress, because Democrats would be announcing a Benghazi-style inquest today if they could.

How does  Mr. Hohmann know that P45’s stars are “lucky”?  Were WaPo fact checkers asked to verify this bold, presumptuous statement? Did anyone consult with a professional astrologer? Why or why not? This is what I want to know.

And on that note…

Thank you for reading this forecast. Have a great holiday weekend!

Thursday-Sunday 2/16-19/2017: Weekend Forecast

Allll-righty then!

The energy of the day is driven by the Moon in Scorpio, which it enters at 1:41 AM ET. A Scorpio Moon seeks depth and substance for the sake of power and control, and we don’t get a break in the emotional intensity until Saturday afternoon. The only exact pattern is a harmony between Mercury (thinking, speaking) and Mars (doing) at 1:15 PM ET. Make your innovative and inspiring pitch; paint a solid picture of how you will walk your talk. Color the evening a shade of rose, courtesy of a harmony between the Moon and Neptune. Music, spirits, art — or some other visionary escape?

On FRIDAY, a clash of opinion over control is suggested by a challenge between Mercury and the Moon at 9:18 AM ET. Perhaps it will light up your Twitter feed.  Moon goes void with a sigh on a harmony with Pluto, digging up dirt and consolidating power. Whatever crisis crops up between 2:38 PM ET and SATURDAY at 1:52 PM ET may well be much ado about nothing. You can skip out early for the holiday weekend without consequence. Chill!

At 6:32 AM ET the Sun enters Pisces. Happy birthday to your favorite fishies! Pisces is a sensitive, intuitive energy that at its best expresses compassion and loving kindness for everyone and everything, in its understanding that we are all One.  Being such a sensitive soul is not always easy. Pisces has been known to wallow in suffering. It can go to extremes of surrender in order to escape life’s hard knocks, drowning its sorrows in the nearest rose-colored glass. Pisces is ruled by Neptune, a dreamy energy that can be challenging to integrate, but oh what sublime creative visions it can bring to life, when effectively channeled.

Pisces folk born between February 28 and March 4th should chat with Fish born a few days earlier about how spacey life has seemed in  past two years. Lots of potential for creativity and soulful questing, though. Pisces folk born between March 10th and March 19th will be feeling the pressure of Saturn, demanding streamlined plans for advance. May be time to check in with your local astrologer…  And that’s not a bad idea for Gemini, Sagittarius and Virgo folk born 10-14 days and 21-28 days into their respective signs. And while we’re on the subject of hot horoscopes, if you are an Aries, Cancer, Libra or Capricorn born about 20 days into your sign, you would benefit from an astrologer’s perspective, too.

At 1:52 PM ET on SATURDAY  the Moon enters Sagittarius, needing to express its righteous opinion and push boundaries with enthusiasm. Activities that expand your horizons are favored: a walk in nature; a foreign film. The afternoon is charged by the Third Quarter Moon, advancing the whatever illumination and/or release you experienced on last Friday’s Full Moon and eclipse.

The last time Moon entered Sagittarius this foreign perspective hit the airwaves, soon going viral.  Have you seen “America First; Netherlands Second,” a a satirical video introducing The Netherlands to P45? Many other countries have since offered their own introductions; the latest is from India.

Patterns on SUNDAY are dreamy and playful. Patterns on MONDAY are active — mentally and physically. Big ideas and daring action will be front and center for the next two weeks. If you thought this week was full of surprises and shifts, just wait and see. We’ll have Mars (action!) and Jupiter (expansion!) supercharged by disruptive Uranus and power player Pluto…and much, much more.

The news is up next.

Monday 2/13/2017: Sneak Peek at the Week; Signs of Neptune Running Wild

Happy Monday!

The work week begins on a serious challenge between a perfectionist Virgo Moon and an opinionated and authoritative Saturn in Sagittarius, exact at 7:36 AM ET. Whatever potential ambitious reach or wet blanket greeted you upon waking, resist the urge to make a mountain out of a molehill. The Moon will be void for most of the business day, wandering without focus until 3:43 PM ET. Stick to routine; roll with the twists and flakes that may disrupt your efforts to move forward in a straight line. Chill!

Once the Moon enters the next sign — Libra — the energy of the day focuses on social graces, balance, fairness and justice.  Cooperation and communication are facilitated in ways that advance progress, suggested by a harmony between the Sun and Saturn around 1 AM ET on TUESDAY.

Libra is a romantic sign — in a sweet-talking sort of way. Not bad for the Moon on Valentine’s Day, right? Indulgence in the morning, perhaps, suggested by a face-off between the Moon and Venus at 5:51 AM ET. Wonky ideas and communication are facilitated around 1 PM ET, as Moon is in harmony with mental Mercury. We have potential for energy surges and/or spats around 5 PM ET, however. That’s when the people-pleasing (and conflict-avoiding) Libra Moon is challenged by high-functioning Mars (action!) in me-me-me Aries. The earth may move in the overnight hours — for better or worse. That’s when Moon makes it’s weekly mash-up to Pluto and Uranus. The action happens on WEDNESDAY at 2:57 AM ET and 9:01 AM ET, respectively.

The only other pattern of note during the work week is a cooperative connection between wonky Mercury in Aquarius and Mars in Aries. Looks promising for putting ideas into action, especially those with a tech-friendly and/or humanitarian bent.

Moon voids — other than Monday:  WEDNESDAY at 8:54 PM ET until THURSDAY at 1:41 AM ET — no biggie. FRIDAY AT 2:38 PM ET until 1:52 PM ET on SATURDAY. Start the holiday weekend early and avoid the mattress sales until the Moon is no longer void. Impulse purchases made during Moon voids have a funny way of not living up to their desired potential.

A word about an interesting relationship happening now between Venus and Mars. They are both in Aries, with Venus seemingly chasing Mars, a few steps ahead. They are close enough  to spark attraction and passion — but they aren’t going to come together until….OCTOBER 4th around 18 degrees of Virgo. Venus is actually slowing down — about to turn retrograde on March 4th. So whatever mergers are on the verge right now might be put off until early October. We shall see.

What’s going on in your horoscope? How will the Venus retrograde impact your relationships? Is your horoscope compatible with the horoscope of your Significant Other? These are questions that can be answered in any number of written reports and personal consultations — all of which are described here. We will have an excellent discussion together.

And now, the news.

In the language of astrology, Neptune refers to fantasy, glamour, gaslighting, scandal, fog, spirits, lies, toxins, drugs, oceans/water, music and ideals. It refers to what is intangible. If you are having a Neptune transit, you may find yourself desperately seeking a vision. Neptune dissolves what it touches. It doesn’t blow it apart or tear it down, as Pluto, Mars or Uranus suggest. Neptune is more like Chinese water torture. It can really do a number on your mind.

Right now Neptune is isolated from all of the other planets, except for an occasional, brief connection to the Moon. Isolated planets — and whatever they represent — tend to attract a lot of attention. Here’s what I’m seeing in the headlines: “extraordinary” levels of toxic pollution in the most remote depths of the ocean; an alternative to the (already scandalized) EpiPen is about to hit the market at $4500 (!!?!?) a pop;  a NYT op-ed expresses Moon square Saturn skepticism about using LSD to treat depression; thousands were evacuated in California after heavy rains raised concerns over a dam disaster; last night’s Grammys pulled out all the razzle-dazzle stops.

Said razzle-dazzle included Beyonce, Adele and Joy Villa, whose P45-inspired “Make America Great Again” dress was followed by a spike in music sales. It’s fascinating to see the potential in patterns at Ms. Villa’s birth, suggesting a need for idealistic thinking and daring action. Her Mercury (how she needs to think) is being exactly squared by Pluto as I type, suggesting a persuasive and empowered thrust to what she says and thinks.Birth date: April 25, 1991 — in Orange, CA. Time unknown. Astrology is amazing.

But the lies — the Neptunian lies — everywhere! A majority of P45 voters believe that the fake Bowling Green massacre Kellyanne Conway lied about justified P45’s Muslim travel ban (which was rejected 3-0 by the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, as expected). Here’s how the NY Daily News reported that story; here is the NY Post’s version. See the differences in the headlines? Where do you get your news? There was no terrorist attack in Atlanta, either, btw — a fact that is skewered with gusto in an encore performance by Melissa McCarthy as White House press secretary Sean Spicer on SNL.

Why are men being portrayed by women on SNL? Astrologically, I note that Ms. McCarthy made her debut with transiting Venus in warrior Aries at the Aries Point! Fun Fact: Rosie O’Donnell has three planets near the Aries Point: Sun, Venus and Moon — so it makes sense that talk of her filling Steve Bannon’s shoes would attract attention.

Meanwhile…

“In Stephen Miller’s world, reality is besides the point,” reads a headline in today’s Washington Post. Miller is a 31-year-old senior policy advisor to P45 who asserted — without a shred of evidence — massive voter fraud in the last election.  He is 31 years old — no birth date available — but I would think Neptune is strong in his horoscope.  Here is an in-depth profile Politico published last year, which refers to him as a “true believer.” Neptune definitely believes.  Meanwhile, the former chairman of the NH GOP is offering $1000 to the first person who can prove that any Massachusetts voter took a bus to New Hampshire and voted illegally, as Miller claimed on Sunday.  The former NH GOP chairman’s Twitter posts are glorious in their celebration of Neptune fantasies.

Also at the White House: whether or not national security advisor Michael T. Flynn lied about what he said to the Russian ambassador to the U.S. about lifting sanctions imposed by the Obama Administration. And if he did lie, who else knew about it?

On HBO,  John Oliver devoted his entire show last night –– aired during a “make it right” Moon in Virgo — to an in-depth analysis of the Neptune fog currently emanating from the Oval Office — with an action plan coming soon to a TV cable news show near you.  We don’t have a birth time for Mr. Oliver — but here’s a bit I wrote about his horoscope nearly two years ago.

In other news, Betsy DeVos was confirmed in an unprecedented 51-50 Senate vote, living up to the potential suggested in her horoscope. She is our new Secretary of Education, marking her first week in office with a tweet that misspelled the name of civil rights activist and co-founder of the NAACP W.E. B. DuBois. Elsewhere, a souvenir portrait of P45 was removed from the online store of the Library of Congress yesterday because of a “glaring typo,” according to the NY Post.  And at the White House, the People Who Write These Things referred to UK Prime Minister Theresa May as “Teresa May,” a British porn star.

OK, enough about politics and Moon-in-Virgo exacting fuss over pesky details.

Let’s talk about the potential suggested by last week’s harmony between the Sun and Uranus. Innovative leadership and resources, anyone? President “Jimmy Carter leases his land to solar power his hometown” made national and international headlines. From the photos here, seems like the panels are up and running. I could see “Mr. Jimmy” initiating more fresh starts in the way land is used as transiting Uranus hits all four angles of his horoscope this year and next.

Here are pix of Friday’s Snow Moon eclipse, along with a visiting comet.

UPDATE: Beth Owl’s Daughter is doing well and recovering at home after her major, major surgery on Tuesday. She sends tears of joy and buckets of gratitude to the Avid Readers who were inspired to support her GoFundMe campaign. You are awesome! And because Beth is also awesome, she got out of bed, walked down the stairs and sat at her computer long enough to post her Tarot Card for the Week  here

Thank you for reading this forecast. Your comments are always welcome.  For example, if you are a subscriber and you go to the Daily Forecast page on my website, you will see a chart showing where the planets are right now. Look in the left sidebar. That was a suggestion made by an Avid Reader — huzzah!

Monday 2/6/2017: Sneak Peek at the Week; Aries is for Action

Good morning!

The pixie chatterbox buzz of the Moon in Gemini drives the day, questing for information, wit and entertainment. It all goes swimmingly — with a potential wet blanket or executive reach at 5:53 PM ET, when the Moon is opposed by controlling Saturn. Moon then goes void until 2:03 AM ET TUESDAY; stick to routine in the evening and avoid making mountains out of molehills.

Your other Moon voids for the week: WEDNESDAY 5 PM ET until 4:41 AM ET on THURSDAY; SATURDAY 12:52 AM until 8:52 AM ET. In other words — no real Moon void flakes and twists to disrupt your efforts to move forward in a straight line for those of us in the Eastern Time Zone — so it’s onward, onward, onward!

Planetary patterns of note this week. On TUESDAY, Mercury finally leaves Capricorn, where it’s been for most of the past two months. At 4:36 AM ET it enters Aquarius, seeking to organize thinking and communication into a cerebral and  socially significant form. On THURSDAY, the Aquarius Sun is in harmony with Uranus — look for headlines involving technology, aviation and humanitarian concerns — the more idealistic, the better, given that on FRIDAY, Mercury and Venus will also be in harmony. On SATURDAY the Sun will be in harmony with expansive Jupiter — how potentially nice for you if you have a planet or angle around 23 degrees of Aquarius, Gemini or Libra.

So — no tough patterns — except brief ones to the Moon.  Don’t squander this easy flow — do something! Wednesday is the most volatile day, as the Moon makes its weekly contacts to Uranus and Pluto. Note that emotions are building to a crest this week. On Friday the Moon will be full at 7:33 PM ET — in love-love-me-do Leo. This Full Moon is also an eclipse — and we’ll write more about that later this week.

And now, the news.

Hard to believe that the last time I wrote about Alec Baldwin’s horoscope — almost three years ago — he was announcing his retirement from public life. How things change! Like….a  series of Jupiter transits to his Aries Sun, the first of which happened on November 12th, suggesting opportunities for ego expansion that are likely to continue through the first half of the year. If you didn’t see Mr. Baldwin’s latest star turn on SNL, here it is.  And here is another show-stopper: Melissa McCarthy as White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer — a Moon-in-Gemini newsy buzz yesterday morning.  As one of my writing teachers used to say, “Comedy is a coping strategy for pain.” Enjoy!

On Friday, a federal appeals judges upheld the stay on P45’s efforts to ban Muslims from seven select countries, reflecting the stubborn “keep things as they are” resolve of Friday’s First Quarter Moon in Taurus. Meanwhile, art and women continued to pull focus, as we would expect with Venus at the Aries Point. In New York, MoMA made headlines when it replaced some of its permanent collection with works created by artists from those seven targeted countries. That night, “art” made national news again when riders in a Manhattan subway car worked together to remove deplorable graffiti that was scrawled all over the interior. Did you know that hand sanitizer removes Sharpie ink? I didn’t, and am now resolved to carry a little bottle with me at all times, along with a pack of tissues.

In other news, half a million Romanians are protesting its newly-installed prime minister, who has been in office for barely a month. See? It’s not just us. The patterns we are experiencing now — similar to what we had in the mid-60s and early 30s — have a global reach.

Here are the alleged best and worst ads from the Super Bowl. As written here two years ago, the “Deflategate” scandal proved to be of no consequence. The Patriots won. Here, a psychologist explains how fans could be A-OK with their  team’s questionable behavior .

Two things in closing. First, we’ve got Venus and Mars in Aries and we’re working with New Moon energy. This is a week that screams action — but some may hesitate. Why? Do you need some inspiration and motivation? Let me introduce you to one of my former bosses — Bill Hartnett — who has learned a lot since his horoscope was hit by Uranus and Pluto simultaneously a few years ago. As you will see from his blog, he’s a changed man. Here is the post that can help you get out of your rut. Consider the proactive needs of  Aries as the wind at your back. Do it!

Other posts on Bill’s site are well worth the read, especially if you are feeling frustrated by your search for the Next Big Thing.

Second, Beth Owlsdaughter has posted her Tarot Card for the Week — and as always, it is in tune with planetary patterns. Beth is a wise and wonderful writer.

You may remember that I mentioned back in August that Beth was diagnosed with breast cancer. She’s been doing an extremely harsh series of chemo since then. She hasn’t been able to work, but she has written her Card of the Week without fail — she a fighter with a generous heart. Tomorrow Beth  is scheduled for surgery — a  double mastectomy, to be followed by a series of radiation treatments. I would not wish this experience on anyone.

Several months ago, a friend of Beth’s created a GoFundMe page — collecting donations to help Beth with deductibles, co-pays, loss of income, etc. The statistics on the GoFundMe page are fascinating. I love quantitative data. Check this out:

  • The campaign goal is $20,000.
  • In six months, 212 kind-hearted people have given a total of  $12,358
  • That averages out to $58.30 per person.
  • This is not the fascinating part.

The fascinating part is that the campaign has been shared on social media by 729 people. 729 — subtract 212 — and that means that at least 517 people were moved enough by the noble goals of the campaign to SHARE the post, but not actually SUPPORT it with energy in a material form. But if those 517 people had each contributed $14.78, the $20,000 goal would have been made!

Why did those 517 people share the fundraising campaign, but not be moved enough to contribute actual dollars to the effort? This is what I want to know. What are the consequences for society as a whole?  I am pondering this deep question, as I ponder the wisdom of Bill Hartnett’s blog post on how he realized that he wasn’t doing what needed to be done to move forward. Perhaps this will inspire you to ponder…and then DO SOMETHING, too.

Thinking of Beth with much love...and much love to each and every one of you, too. What’s that quote?

“Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Be kind. Always.”

Maybe that’s the answer to the question.

But still…$14.78…geez….

Thank you for reading this forecast.

We will have an excellent discussion together.

Friday 2/3/2017 & the Weekend: Venus Pulls Focus; Jupiter Turns Retrograde: Mars News Update

TGIF!

A comfort-seeking Taurus Moon drives today and SATURDAY — make your weekend plans accordingly. There’s a dreamy alignment between the Moon and Neptune today at 3:10 PM ET that you can use for inspiration. Later in the evening — at 11:19 PM ET — we will have the First Quarter Moon, perhaps lobbing a stubborn “let’s not change anything” challenge to the New Moon agenda you’ve been pushing.

Meanwhile, just to spark things up, Venus enter Aries at 10:52 AM ET. Venus refers to women, money, aesthetics and social expression. In Aries, it’s a bit of a flirt, frankly. It needs to know that it is loved by everyone. So it may well spice up your social interactions for the rest of the month, inspiring you to connect with new people. Just be advised that impulsive passions are likely to be up for a review when Venus turns retrograde on March 4th. Have fun in the meantime.

Moon will be void on Saturday between 5:42 PM and 11:44 PM ET, meaning that SUNDAY is brought to you by the Moon in information junkie Gemini, seeking to be the smartest kid in the room. If you’re up for a chat, a Gemini Moon is happy to oblige it, as well as your need for entertainment and multitasking.

If you’ve got a planet or angle around 23 degrees — two thirds of the way — through Aries, Capricorn, Cancer and especially Libra, you may be in an expansive phase in one or more areas of your life. Jupiter, the cosmic sugardaddy, has been hanging out at 23 Libra for a few weeks, getting ready to turn retrograde MONDAY at 1:52 AM ET. Jupiter retrograde suggests that whatever was expanding may now be subject to a review and/or delay. With Jupiter in Libra, the sign of justice, fairness, equality and balance, I expect we’ll see many delays in the headlines played out in court. Jupiter turns direct on June 9th. It returns to 23 Libra in early September, which I expect will be an extremely significant period of time.

Perhaps you’d like to know what the placement of Jupiter in your horoscope suggests for you. Jupiter transits often coincide with opportunities for honors and promotion — and I have plenty of cases in my files of clients whom I encouraged to make a pitch for expansion during a Jupiter transit — which resulted in success. Astrology is a very good thing to know about. What’s going on in your horoscope? Here’s the 411 on consultations.

And now, the news.

The action continues at a dizzying pace on all sides, reflecting the potential of  Mars (action! warriors! guns! sports! cars!) charging through impatient, impulsive, go-go-go Aries. Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT), himself an impatient Aries, withdrew a bill proposing to sell off an area of public land equal to the size of Connecticut. What swayed him? In this planetary climate, it wasn’t the picnickers and tree huggers. Nope. Score this victory courtesy of the hunters and anglers who were outraged — and as a “proud gun owner,” what else could Rep. Chaffetz do?

Cars! Over 200,000 people have deleted their Uber accounts in the wake of the “perception that it was undermining a [JFK] taxi strike” in protest of P45’s thinly disguised Muslim ban. That’s amazing — and I say this based on personal experience. It is not easy to delete an Uber account; one must be resourceful and very persistent.  The consumer backlash may have prompted Uber CEO Travis Kalanick to resign from P45’s economic advisory council. Cars!

The new U.S. border controls were not kind to the former prime minister of Norway, who found himself detained at Dulles airport because of a 2014 trip to Iran, where he had given a speech at a human rights conference. So where was Kjell Magne Bondevik heading on this week’s U.S. trip? Spit take alert: he was going to the annual National Prayer Breakfast, where he would be hearing P45 use the solemn and reflective occasion to make a nasty jab about Arnold Schwarzenegger’s ratings as the new host of  a TV show which shall remain nameless. Gov. Schwarzenegger was quick to respond, as Stephen Colbert reports. (I mean it. Put the coffee mug down now).

Iran has since banned U.S. wrestlers from participating in the Freestyle Wrestling Cup.…and just now, more sanctions have been announced against Iran.

In other Mars-related stories, at the National Prayer Breakfast, P45 also vowed to “totally destroy” (because simply repealing it would not convey the destructive drive of Mars) the Johnson (Mars!) Amendment, which narrows the scope of how churches (i.e. tax-exempt organizations) may participate (i.e. fund) political campaigns.

Also spit-take worthy: P45’s remarks about African-American social reformer, abolitionist, orator, writer, and statesman Frederick Douglass, as reported here by Seth Meyers. We do not have a confirmed birth date for Mr. Douglass, so we can’t look at his horoscope to see which planets are being activated by this sudden push into the spotlight. We can state with certainty that he died in 1895 — a fact that P45 and press secretary Sean Spicer may not have known. This means that Mr. Douglass could not have opened this Twitter account, even though many may find his alleged tweets amusing.

I was compelled to refresh my memory of what I learned about Mr. Douglass years ago — the first link in the above paragraph is to his Wikipedia biography. So many striking things — but these passages really jumped out at me:

When Douglass was about twelve, (slave owner) Hugh Auld’s wife Sophia started teaching him the alphabet. Douglass described her as a kind and tender-hearted woman, who treated him “as she supposed one human being ought to treat another”.[19] Hugh Auld disapproved of the tuition, feeling that literacy would encourage slaves to desire freedom; Douglass later referred to this as the “first decidedly antislavery lecture” he had ever heard.[20] Under her husband’s influence, Sophia came to believe that education and slavery were incompatible and one day snatched a newspaper away from Douglass….

…When Douglass was hired out to William Freeland, he taught other slaves on the plantation to read the New Testament at a weekly Sunday school. As word spread, the interest among slaves in learning to read was so great that in any week, more than 40 slaves would attend lessons. For about six months, their study went relatively unnoticed. While Freeland remained complacent about their activities, other plantation owners became incensed about their slaves being educated. One Sunday they burst in on the gathering, armed with clubs and stones, to disperse the congregation permanently.

…which segues into another current newsmaker, Aldous Huxley, who wrote Brave New World — a futuristic novel often compared to 1984. Brave New World was written in 1931, around the time of the last series of disruptive Uranus-Pluto squares. Mr. Huxley’s horoscope, like Mr. Orwell’s — is hot now, reflecting his renewed prominence. Transiting Uranus square his natal Mercury is one immediate suggestion that how Mr. Huxley needed to think is likely to be up for a fresh start.  Mr. Huxley is a Leo with Moon in Taurus. From his biography on Wikipedia, we see the Taurus need for comfort and security (italics are mine):

The events of the Depression in Britain in 1931, with its mass unemployment and the abandonment of the gold currency standard, persuaded Huxley to assert that stability was the “primal and ultimate need” if civilisation was to survive the present crisis.

What does this have to do with Frederick Douglass and his crusade to educate slaves? From Wikipedia:

Social critic Neil Postman contrasted the worlds of Nineteen Eighty-Four and Brave New World in the foreword of his 1985 book Amusing Ourselves to Death. He writes:

What Orwell feared were those who would ban books. What Huxley feared was that there would be no reason to ban a book, for there would be no one who wanted to read one. Orwell feared those who would deprive us of information. Huxley feared those who would give us so much that we would be reduced to passivity and egotism. Orwell feared that the truth would be concealed from us. Huxley feared the truth would be drowned in a sea of irrelevance. Orwell feared we would become a captive culture. Huxley feared we would become a trivial culture, preoccupied with some equivalent of the feelies, the orgy porgy, and the centrifugal bumblepuppy. As Huxley remarked in Brave New World Revisited, the civil libertarians and rationalists who are ever on the alert to oppose tyranny “failed to take into account man’s almost infinite appetite for distractions.” In 1984, Orwell added, people are controlled by inflicting pain. In Brave New World, they are controlled by inflicting pleasure. In short, Orwell feared that our fear will ruin us. Huxley feared that our desire will ruin us.

Food for thought as we contemplate how and why the world has become what it is, in the wake of another revolutionary Uranus-Pluto square.

This just in: 1984 is coming to Broadway this summer. Told ya Orwell’s horoscope was hot.

UPDATE: the massive earthquake that crippled the Fukushima nuclear power plant happened in March of 2011, when Uranus (earthquakes, uranium) hit 0 degrees of Aries, suggesting prominent action in Uranian-related concerns. Mars was at 0 Aries on Saturday’; Venus is there as I type — both triggering the chart for the earthquake in 2011. Japan Times reports today that radiation at the No. 1 reactor is at its highest level since 2011.

This just in: Venus is now at the Aries Point — suggesting prominence in matters of women, art, money, social expression. There was a shooting at the Louvre. Two male CEOs — of Wal-Mart and EY — have been selected to advise P45 on…wait for it…women in the workplace. And there’s a new White House dress code: “women must dress like women.” I don’t even know what that means.

UPDATE: last Friday I noted that Mars would be meeting up with Scheat, a Fixed Star associated with unfortunate events and shipwrecks. This suggested the potential for Mars-themed actions to backfire, as reflected in this headline: “Trump-ordered Raid that Killed U.S. Navy SEAL Was Approved ‘Without Sufficient Intelligence'”  The raid was on Sunday, on the Mars-Scheat meet-up. An 8-year-old American girl was killed, along with other civilian casualties. A $75 million military helicopter was (ship)wrecked. Coincidence or conspiracy?

Finally, in case you haven’t heard, there was never a massacre in Bowling Green, as everyone on Twitter is tweeting this morning. Was Kellyanne Conway confusing Bowling Green with Kent State? Two colleges — both in Ohio — I can see how that might happen. If you are too young to remember the 60s, four unarmed students who were protesting the Vietnam War were killed by Ohio National Guardsmen on May 4, 1970. This event has been called the Kent State Massacre — and Crosby Stills Nash & Young wrote a song about it. Cue “Ohio” now, please.

Isn’t there a game on this weekend? This year, I’m rooting for the commercials.

With Jupiter stationary retrograde, justice has been delayed. Will get to Neil Gorsuch next week — I hope.

Thank you for reading this forecast. Have a wonderful weekend!

Wednesday & Thursday 2/1-2/2017: Onward!

It’s full speed ahead, as a proactive Aries Moon drives the day. The only exact aspect is a harmony between the Moon and the Sun at 3:50 PM ET. Get your agenda out there.

Upsets may hit the wires the closer we get to 12:13 AM ET on THURSDAY, as the Moon is challenged by ruthless Pluto, forcing a power play or new perspective. Moon meets up with Uranus at 5:30 AM ET — there’s your morning shock to the system. Big ideas are likely to be creating buzz until 11:50 AM ET, which is when it goes void (here’s the 411 on voids).  Mountains may be made out of molehills until 8:50 PM ET; if you are wise you will roll with whatever twists and flakes disrupt your efforts to move forward in a straight line.

A need for material comfort and security drives the evening on Thursday, once the Moon enters Taurus at 8:50 PM ET. Good food, wine, music and a snuggle with your sweetie are facilitated.

And now, the news.

Well, it’s been less than two weeks, and the inauguration chart is clearly functioning as designed, as anticipated. We have an isolated “CEO” making plenty of noise, reflecting the unaspected Sun. Thus we are becoming more isolated as a nation. We have executive orders and other actions reflecting the cold, cruel, controlling potential of Saturn in Sagittarius challenging Venus in Pisces: refugees, faith, foreigners, the media, etc. We’re seeing shake-ups to the system reflecting that 12th House Uranus. And no one can tell the this administration anything it doesn’t already know, suggested by Pluto in the 9th House. Don’t like it? Retribution is swift and sharp, reflecting the vengeful potential of a Scorpio Moon seeking to be seen as deep and masterful (the Moon was in Scorpio on the day of the inauguration). Example: the swift firing of Acting Attorney General Sally Yates, who refused to defend challenges to the executive order banning citizens from seven Muslim countries. Off with her head!

Meanwhile, the Congress is also living up to its disruptive potential, with one side literally suspending the rules of order to accomplish its agenda:

Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, the chairman of the Finance Committee called the Democrats’ boycott “the most pathetic thing.” Opening the meeting, Hatch said, “We took some unprecedented actions today due to the unprecedented obstruction on the part of our colleagues.”

Democrats consider the move in violation of longstanding rules on the finance committee, which require one member of each party present.

I found this photo of the Senate Finance Committee striking, pun obviously intended:

In other news, Neil Gorsuch was nominated for the Supreme Court and I will look at his horoscope in the next forecast.

Let’s end on some good news. Remember how I said that this week’s planetary patterns suggested innovations in matters related to the head and/or brain? A groundbreaking system that picks up brain activity allows “locked in” people (with ALS, for example), to communicate. So cool.

As always, I would be delighted to communicate with you. Here is the 411 on personal consultations. If you are feeling stuck or uncertain about your prospects at this stage in your life, your horoscope offers valuable insights and guidance. But don’t take it from me. Take it from a man who received a consultation as a gift:

“You have totally convinced me that your practice of astrology — whatever it is that you do — is legitimate. You have nailed who I am in an hour conversation and I want to continue our discussion!”

Thank you for reading this forecast. May you receive a ton of appreciation today and always for the value you bring to the world.

Monday 1/30/2017: Sneak Peek at the Week; Arise, Go Forth & Conquer

Good Morning!

Note your dreams upon waking; the Pisces Moon meets up with inspirational Neptune at 6:18 AM ET, getting the work week off on a potentially rose-colored or visionary spin. Depth of perspective and talk about it are suggested around 7:27 PM ET and 10:31 PM ET, when the Moon harmonizes with Pluto and Mercury, respectively.

TUESDAY begins on a possible downer or ambitious reach, as the vulnerable Pisces Moon is challenged by the controlling and righteously opinionated drive of Saturn in Sagittarius. Stop the presses? Order in the court? Watch the headlines. At 12:36 PM ET on Tuesday, Moon meets up with Venus (women, art, money, social expression), covering the same ground as Mars (action, aggression, courage) did last week at the very end of Pisces.

Milk the compassion and empathy for all its worth, because on FRIDAY Venus shifts into me-me-me Aries for most of the time between Feb 3rd and June 6th. That’s because Venus turns retrograde on March 4th (how apropos for Venus in ARIES) — turning direct on April 14th. More on that pattern as we get closer to March — but here’s what I’ve written about Venus retrogrades past.

The other planet pulling focus this week is Mercury — mindset, travel, communication. It met up with power player Pluto yesterday and clashes with rebel Uranus on Tuesday. Then it clashes with expansive Jupiter on Thursday. For more on this pattern, refer to the last post — about Friday’s New Moon in Aquarius. It’s been updated, with more news items in sync with planetary patterns, as well as some astro-cartography on P-45.

Your Moon voids for the week (here’s the 411 on Moon voids, if you are new to this forecast): Tuesday 12:36 PM ET until 4:47 PM ET; Thursday 11:50 AM ET until 8:50 PM ET; Saturday 5:42 P ET until 11:44 PM ET. Stick to routine; avoid impulsive signings and purchases. Roll with the twists and flakes and chill! Crises that crop up during Moon voids are often much ado about nothing.

We’re heading into warp drive, dear Avid Readers — a volatile week.  Use this energy for the highest good.

And now, the news.

Mars charging into Aries after midnight ET on Saturday suggested prominent battles, sports, cars and crusades — possibly for the underdog (which Aries tends to favor). Stupendous match between tennis greats Federer and Nadal  at the Australian Open — with Federer victorious. Another match between the Williams sisters, Serena and Venus — and if only that was the most exciting news story to report.

But no, here in the U.S., thousands showed up to crusade against the travel ban against citizens of seven Muslim countries — the one announced on Friday’s potentially cold, cruel Saturn squaring Venus — not to mention the “cover of darkness” of a totally dead Moon. The order was signed at 4:42 PM ET, with a 0 Aries Midheaven and an 18 Cancer Ascendant, opposed by that Pluto and Mercury meet-up. Federal judges in three states issued temporary stays — but it has been reported that not all border agents are complying. To be continued — with obvious crusading energy on both sides this week.

Also headstrong and combative: Stephen Bannon, the former editor of Breitbart News — now an adviser to P-45, successfully lobbied for a permanent seat on the National Security Council. That Mercury-Pluto conjunction in the middle of Capricorn made contact with his unaspected Mars at 16 Libra; of course we see the potential for a persuasive power play; it’s in line with observations made in the middle of November. While the immigration ban is getting most of the attention in the news, this story   deserves your attention. Even the Washington Times — one of Justice Scalia’s two favorite newspapers — called this shuffling of the deck “baffling.”  Buzzfeed has more — and a transcript of a speech Bannon gave in 2014, while under the influence of a visionary/bewildering transit to his righteous Sagittarius Sun from Neptune. In it, he presents a “global vision” — of course!

Meanwhile…cars! Uber was accused of trying to break a taxi strike at JFK; a calls for an Uber boycott hit the wires and Lyft — Uber’s major competitor — pledged to give $1 million to the ACLU.

In other news, Brunhilde Pomsel, who served as a secretary to Joseph Goebbels, passed away at 106. Her horoscope was discussed here in August. Her NYT obit includes this quote from an interview with the Guardian last summer:

“In the little time that’s left to me — and I hope it will be months rather than years — I just cling to the hope that the world doesn’t turn upside down again as it did then, though there have been some ghastly developments, haven’t there? I’m relieved I never had any children that I have to worry about.”

In the aftermath of the seven Uranus-Pluto squares we experienced between 2012 and 2015, the chances of the world not turning upside down would be slim.

Here’s a fun headline for a weekend with Mars demanding focus: “Gazing Into Danakil Depression’s Mirror, and Seeing Mars Stare Back”  And last, but not least — an ad from AeroMexico uses the power of Mercury (message) with Uranus (innovation, aviation) and Pluto (potent perspective; breakdown) to trump the isolation potential of a chilly Saturn squaring Venus. Check out this visionary (Neptune running wild) ad, released last May — but obviously making the rounds again now.

What’s going on in your horoscope? In your child’s horoscope? I would love to provide you with practical insights. Book a personal consultation this week and I will include the written Astro-Basics Report (a $27 value) — with my compliments. We will have an excellent discussion together.

Thank you for reading this forecast.

Friday 1/27/17 & the Weekend: New Moon in Aquarius

TGIF!!!

Since 3:37 AM ET, the energy of the day is being driven by the Moon in Aquarius, seeking to fulfill its need for social significance and to be appreciated for being unique. Aquarius refers to these keywords: innovation, eccentricity, friendship, humanitarian, unconventional, rocket scientist and/or mad genius. It is an airy — i.e., cerebral — energy and it is fixed, which is to say it is likely stubborn in thought and action, but also adept at bringing ideas together in an organized form.

There are two aspects of note today. First, the Venus-Saturn square we’ve been talking all week will be exact at 12:50 PM ET. By now, you should have a clear idea of how that pattern may be reflected in the headlines. Second, the Moon meets up with Aquarius Sun at 7:07 PM ET. Happy New Moon!

Let me first note the significant patterns happening this weekend. They are all part of the New Moon chart. First is Mars, now at the very last degree of Pisces – — about to enter Aries at 12:39 AM ET on SATURDAY. This suggests prominence —  fast and furious — in matters involving action, warriors, courage, cars, steel, aggression,  and sports, to name a few Mars keywords. Pisces refers to refugees, FYI. When Mars enters Aries, we can see the potential for action that is headstrong, impulsive, brave, aggressive, inspiring and/or pioneering. If you have a planet or angle around the first degree of Aries, Cancer, Capricorn and Libra, you are likely feeling energized — for better or worse — with respect to that planet or angle. Obviously this includes anyone born around a solstice or equinox.

Next up: Mercury, which today finally got back to 15 degrees of Capricorn, which is where it was when it turned retrograde on December 19th. So we may see the return of an issue that was active back then — with potent new information. December 19th was when the Electoral College met to vote — there’s more about that via the previous link. On  SUNDAY, Mercury finally meets up with Pluto at 3:18 PM ET. In general,  Mercury-Pluto contacts suggest news from underground; persuasive communication and ideas; investigations and corruption exposed.  But wait — there’s more: on TUESDAY at 10:31 PM ET, Mercury is challenged by rebel Uranus, suggesting information and communication that disrupts the status quo.  I would not be surprised to hear explosive news of  covers blown — possibly big time, given that all next week, Mercury will be supercharged by expansive Jupiter, exact on THURSDAY at 10:16 AM ET. Here’s an example: after 62 years, the woman whose allegations led to the murder of Emmett Till admits her story was false.

Have I mentioned that Neptune — which refers to fantasy, intangibles, compassion, forgiveness, delusion — to name a few — is currently running wild?

No Moon void on Saturday suggests you are free to shop impulsively. Moon will be void on SUNDAY between 12:52 AM and 11:10 AM ET — a time to chill or get some Mars in Aries action with your best Moon in Aquarius buddy. After 11:10 AM ET the Moon will be in Pisces, ideally seeking compassion for all who suffer; the the ability to see ourselves in each other; the intuition that flows from understanding this connection; and the melancholy that results when such depth of feeling can not be communicated (for lack of words or a receptive audience). These are some Piscean possibilities. Will ye sink or will ye swim?

No sleeping in on Monday.

And now, the New Moon. This is our chance to re-set intentions and goals for the next lunar cycle.  Make a list; light a candle; plant those seeds. Around Feb 3rd, on the First Quarter Moon, we can expect a challenge to those goals, with appropriate adjustments made. How are our seedlings doing?  Keep on nurturing them, and around the Full Moon on Feb 10th, they may flower. Illumination on the success or failure of our goals for the cycle is suggested, either way. If we succeeded, we can consciously release our success into our reality; if we failed, we let go of whatever did not work. Heads up that this Full Moon will be an eclipse. After the Third Quarter Moon on February 18th, we can harvest our achievements, tie up loose ends, compost and get ready to begin another New Moon cycle on February 26th — also an eclipse.

I calculated the New Moon chart using Washington D.C. for the location. It’s the capital of the U.S., and thus this chart offers a sneak peek of potential experience in the national arena. The angles of the chart —  the Ascendant and the Midheaven —  are 29 Leo and 24 Taurus, respectively. If those angles look familiar, it’s because they nearly exactly match another horoscope that has been discussed here many times: POTUS 45. Why is that significant? Because in ancient times, the horoscope of a king was considered to be a reliable map of the fortunes of the country. With the angles of this New Moon chart matching 45’s horoscope, we see the potential for this next lunar phase to be as personally significant to the United States as it is to him.

Notice that the 29 Leo Ascendant of the New Moon chart for Washington  is conjunct the Fixed Star Regulus, suggesting a need for a sterling presentation of the self-image…with success, so long as vengeance is avoided. It will be interesting to see what happens to initiatives made in this lunar cycle, given that 29 Leo is the degree of the August 21st Great American Eclipse.  Let’s see where they are at in early September, when the eclipse will be triggered by Mars and Mercury.

A 24 Taurus  Midheaven is conjunct the Fixed Star Capulus — suggesting a need for a public status of male aggression and sexuality. Another Fixed Star adding intensity to this highly energized New Moon chart is Scheat, which is conjunct Mars at 29 Pisces. This suggests potential for actions that backfire.

Fascinating sidebar: are you familiar with Astro-Cartography? This is a method by which you can discover what kind of experiences you are likely to attract, depending on where you live. Today I ran a chart for 45’s prospects, now that he has moved to Washington D.C. Guess what planet is exactly on the Ascendant of the relocated horoscope? MARS! So we can see the potential for his experience in D.C. to reflect these keywords: military, militant, anger, war, steel, action, courage, crusade. Have you ever had your Astro-Cartography done? It’s fascinating — and here’s how to contact me if you’re interested.

Another observation about Mr. 45 I may not have stated: overall patterns in the horoscope suggest a need for a defensive posture, developed out of a vulnerability to being victimized by circumstances. This week Russell Simmons warned his friend about the dangers of the latter. Gail Collins echoed this potential in her column, too — still under the effects of the heavy mindset suggested by transiting Saturn to her Mercury, no doubt.

The Sabian Symbol for this New Moon is “a flag turned into an eagle.” Sabian Symbol guru Blain Bovee writes:

…when a flag turns into an eagle, an idea or ideal is dramatically brought to life. One might possess revolutionary ideals for society and carry a flag that comes to be known for those ideals. Should the flag incite public passions to take action, the flag is infused with life, like heat applied to water that comes to a boil.

“Revolutionary ideals” — sounds apt for a New Moon in Aquarius. You are more personally affected by the need to turn an ideal into action if you have a planet or angle around 9 degrees (a third of the way through) Leo, Taurus, Scorpio and especially Aquarius. Like George Orwell, for example.  1984 — his famous novel — is a best-seller again.   He was born near the Summer Solstice, so Mars is energizing his horoscope, too — along with other planetary patterns.

And now, more news…briefly.

We can see shades of the potentially controlling Venus-Saturn square combined with the prominence of macho Mars in these stories. In Russia, “some forms” of domestic violence have been decriminalized. Harsh. Newly-confirmed U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley “issued a stark warning…to allies and rivals abroad,” reports the NYT. Tough. Mike Pence and Kellyanne Conway spoke to thousands of  people at the annual “March for Life.”  Christiane Amanpour said on CNN that the media would not shut up, as Steven Bannon said it should do on Thursday.  We’ll have Saturn in Sagittarius all year, increasing the potential for controls in matters of speech….

…and foreigners. Today an executive order was issued banning travelers from seven Muslim-majority countries: Iran, Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Sudan, Libya and Somalia — including U.S. green card holders. Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the U.A.E. were not included in the ban — and they are countries in which Mr. 45 has business interests. Coincidence or conspiracy? The ban appears to violate U.S. law.

Here’s one that is super-depressing: a new study says that girls as young as six think that being brilliant is just for boys.  Still??? In other news, the Doomsday Clock has been moved forward by thirty seconds.  It’s now 11:57:30 PM. Meanwhile, here are this week’s  “five best” essays from conservative media sites, courtesy of the Guardian. Saturn with Venus tends to be more conservative than, say, Jupiter or Uranus with Venus. Those patterns won’t happen again until May….

…and we need a lift to get us through the weekend! May I suggest seeing Hidden Figures?  It’s the true story of three brilliant African-American women of steel who worked at NASA in the early 60s. Their genius helped rocket astronaut John Glenn into orbit. Their wardrobes are fabulous! Take all the little girls you know to see it, so they can see how brilliance isn’t just for boys.

To find out what opportunities are likely to present themselves for you in these verrrrrry interesting times, consider scheduling a personal consultation. We will have an excellent discussion together.
