Astro-logical Forecast for Wednesday 5/11/2011: Newt and Callista Gingrich

Shall we talk some more about idealism and people with idealism strongly suggested in their horoscopes making news at this time? Oh, let’s. I do hope you’re out there pitching this month….

Yesterday morning Newt and Callista Gingrich entered the race to become the Republican nominee for President of the United States in 2012. Callista, a reportedly devout Catholic, began her relationship with Newt in 1993, while he was married to his second wife. Their affair went on for seven years. While involved with Callista, who is 23 years his junior, Newt called for the impeachment of President Clinton  — for lying about his affair with White House intern Monica Lewinsky. What kind of planetary patterns in a horoscope could suggest such bewildering, seemingly hypocritical actions and beliefs?

In the horoscope of Callista, we immediately see Mercury (mind, communication) in touch with Venus (social expression) — a classic sign of idealism (birth data: March 4, 1966, Whitehall, WI — time unknown). Other patterns suggest a likely challenging relationship with the father; an element of being somehow suppressed in her early home life, and a sense that life is hard work. These same patterns also suggest great discipline, determination and achievement. A Pisces with Moon in regal Leo, she likely has a bit of a queen complex, as well as more than a bit of glamor and charisma suggested by a connection to Mars from nebulous Neptune. With idealism identified in a horoscope, one is inclined to wonder — what unpleasantness that rose-colored outlook be masking?

In the horoscope of Newt, we find more than one familiar pattern. First, Sun in Gemini and Moon in opinionated Sagittarius — just like Donald Trump. Fascinating!  Signs of idealism? How about nebulous Neptune (fantasy, delusion, glamor, spirituality, drugs, sacrifice, deception, enlightenment) commanding attention at the Aries Point (remember how active that point was in global events back in March), in a challenge to Sun (Barack Obama, Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck also have this aspect) AND  opinionated, often preachy Moon in Sagittarius. This Moon is augmented by a grandiose connection to expansive Jupiter, not unlike the Moon-Jupiter connection in  Charlie Sheen’s horoscope. Sure, he can be extremely inspirational. But there is also the potential for more than a bit of magical thinking…

For today: Moon is void between 12:52 – 9:59AM EST. A slow start or a twist to your usual morning routine is suggested, after which Moon enters the discerning sign of Virgo, where it can spend the entire day in search of perfectly organized bliss. Though frankly, with the luscious abundance suggested by a “big idea” connection between Mercury and Jupiter…AND an indulgent connection between loving Venus and the cosmic sugar daddy (Jupiter), “organized” might be a challenge. Leave it to Mars, entering the sign of stable, stubborn Taurus, to temper the impulsive urge to take action we’ve experienced for the past few weeks with Mars in Aries. Some of us will breathe a huge sigh of relief.

Astro-logical Forecast for Thursday 4/28/2011: Obama Birth Certificate Drama

From the sublime to the ridiculous. That’s how this day may swing, with Moon wandering aimlessly through Pisces…all day, with no other exact planetary aspects. If your day involves driving on the road, or operating any form of heavy machinery, put your grounding cord down and pay extra special careful attention. Otherwise, go with the flow — and be prepared to adjust your agenda to any twists that come your way. Keep in mind that crises that spring up during Moon voids are often “much ado about nothing.” Don’t panic!

Wasn’t yesterday a trip? Might it be apt to label the Obama birth certificate drama a case of “emotional overkill,” as suggested by the challenge between obsessive Pluto and loving Venus? Donald Trump, whose chart I’ve discussed in prior forecasts, is apparently living his horoscope to infinity and beyond. Trump is a mercurial Gemini, driven by Moon in outrageous, opinionated Sagittarius. This gentleman needs to tell the world what he thinks, likely in the hopes in will attract the love he is terribly anxious about receiving. He has Leo rising, which conveys an image of regal confidence; some might find it pompous. His Mars, which refers to how he needs to get things done, sits simmering in his 12th house, near the rising sign (likely anger issues), also in the sign of Leo, a placement that astrologer Grant Lewi notes “gets away with murder.”  Right now nebulous Neptune is opposing Trump’s Ascendant (Leo rising), suggesting the potential for confusion, sacrifice and/or utter fantasy in areas of self-image and public image. And Neptune will be hanging over that point in Trump’s horoscope until 2012. Don’t go away folks; the show is just starting…

Astro-logical Forecast for Tuesday, 3/1/2011

Writing this shortly after the Moon entered humanitarian Aquarius at 12:14AM, to be followed soon after by Venus, planet of love, money and social expression making a supportive connection to innovative Uranus, which rules Aquarius (still with me? does that give you a little sense of how planets and signs are interconnected?). This is a great day for brainstorming a creative solution in the name of a socially significant ideal. More Aquarian energy is added to the mix when Venus leaves social-climbing Capricorn for unconventional Aquarius, which you may see reflected in our collective tastes over the next few weeks.

With all that’s going on in the world — in the Middle East and the Midwest, you’d think the last thing on our minds would be yet another unfortunate tale of an actor having a public meltdown. And yet my facebook newsfeed is just littered with links and comments about Charlie Sheen. Trashed hotel rooms, trashing employers — what’s going on with the highest paid actor on television?

Sheen was born September 3, 1965, 10:48P in New York, NY. Sun in Virgo, Moon in Sagittarius, Gemini Ascendant. The Sun-Moon combo suggests a life perspective laced with romance, adventure and excitement, with a reigning need to have his opinions respected, played out in the areas of shared resources (including sex) and relationships via an expansive, potentially excessive connection from Jupiter, the cosmic sugardaddy. This need for freedom and expansion is apparently frustrated by certain controls — but from whom or where? Sheen’s horoscope is challenging, suggesting a pattern of giving himself away to others and considerable baggage leftover from childhood that needs to be unpacked and put away. I’d definitely want to ask Sheen why his horoscope suggests that his relationship with his parents was so complicated, as it is strongly suggested that patterns in his early home contributed to anxiety about his lovability. Yet somehow he has turned his suffering into an art form.

Abundance in love and money are also suggested here — and could easily run away with the horoscope. Boundaries are likely an issue; it’s possible he could play the martyr or victim in relationship, as he searches for a perfect ideal. He really does have a cross to bear in relationship, starting with the relationship he has with himself. So much power and talent. So why has life been so hard? There is the suggestion of struggle — possibly brutal, over power and control. And drugs and alcohol are not a viable alternative; I’d argue that Sheen’s system is especially vulnerable to toxins — and that vulnerability is suggested in the horoscope.

Sheen’s excessive behavior has been known in certain circles for years, but why is it making headlines right now? Look no further than status quo-disrupting Uranus, currently challenging Sheen’s opinionated Moon in Sagittarius and expansive Jupiter at the Aries Point (if you’ve been reading the forecast daily, you know that planets at the Aries Point are pushed into prominence). The consequences? That excess simply can’t be ignored. On the plus side, this could be an opportunity to finally grow up; on the down side, feelings of isolation (suggested by transiting Saturn, planet of control, meeting up with Venus, planet of love and money, this fall). Later this spring, nebulous Neptune will soon be challenging Sheen’s Ascendant, suggesting a potential ego wipe-out, or at the very least, bewilderment. It’ll take a year or two for this chapter to play out, but if he can rise to the challenge, 2013 is looking promising.

Meanwhile, in case you haven’t heard, I will be in Los Angeles March 4-14th, and available for astrological consultation in person. How cool is that? Email me if you’d like to schedule an appointment. : )
