Good Morning!
Moon continues its charge through me-me-me Aries today. Arise, go forth and conquer. Note the potential for a power play, expose or emotional catharsis in the morning, as Moon makes its weekly clash with ruthless Pluto at 11:29AM ET. The rest of the business day offers an easy flow of fiery regal communication, designed to lead and inspire, as the Moon harmonizes with Mercury and Venus at 12:48PM ET and 10:55PM ET. Caveat: a disruption of the status quo or revelation — possibly from some firebrand — may grace the late evening hours, as rebel Uranus meets up with the Aries Moon at 2:18AM ET on TUESDAY and then goes void. Hey — doesn’t Bernie Sanders have Moon in Aries? He does, and he’s speaking at the DNC on Monday.
Tuesday’s void may excuse or explain the slow start or twist in your morning routine. Once the Moon enters Taurus at 11:37 AM ET, the need is to settle down and focus on what brings you comfort and material security. Said need may be jarred by the Third Quarter Moon at 7PM ET, in which the comfort-seeking Moon has to deal with the Leo Sun’s need to shine. Hey — doesn’t Bill Clinton have Sun in Leo/Moon in Taurus? He does, and he’s speaking at the DNC on Tuesday.
Mercury, Mars and Uranus are the planets pulling focus this week. On Wednesday at 3:45AM ET, Mercury (ideas and communication) harmonizes with Uranus (genius, tech savviness). Look for brilliance, innovation and a we are the world spirit in the headlines. Oh look, Verizon is buying Yahoo. See the themes of communication and technology?
Mercury squares off against Mars on Friday at 4:49PM ET in regal Leo and ruthless Scorpio, respectively. Watch, as communications become more combative and stubborn, with someone’s sterling reputation at stake.
Mercury leaves Leo for one of its home signs — Virgo — at 2:19PM ET on Saturday, where it will remain until October 7th. We are about to begin a very long exercise in analyzing and sorting, as Mercury turns retrograde on August 30th. We can be highly efficient or we can be hypercritical and neurotic. Which manifestation of Virgo would you prefer?
Meanwhile, rebel Uranus is at a virtual standstill, about to turn retrograde at 5:06PM ET on FRIDAY, minutes after that volatile Mercury-Mars square. Planets at their station (that’s the technical term for a planet about to change direction) carry greater intensity. We are sure to see a manifestation of this volatility in the headlines along any of these themes: accidents, seismic activity, aviation, rebellion, revolution or some other suddenly disruptive outburst of energy — including lightning bolts of truth. Please drive defensively.
When a planet is retrograde, the energy it represents is best expressed by turning inward, instead of outward. When direct, Uranus tends to rebel against the status quo set by others. When retrograde, Uranus needs to set itself free from limits that are self-imposed. That is your subtle mission over the next few months — and if you have a planet or angle around 24 Aries, Cancer, Capricorn or Libra, you may feel the internal buzz more than most.
Your Moon voids for the week — Tuesday 2:18AM – 11:37AM ET; Thursday 11:13AM – 2:17PM ET; Saturday 7:46AM – 5:06PMET. No shopping sprees and no finalizing critical decisions during voids, if you please. Focus on routine concerns and roll with the twists that may thwart your efforts to move forward in a straight line. Chill!
And now, the news.
More on the Mercury-Uranus themes of communication and technology causing a disruption could be seen yesterday, as Wikileaks released emails apparently hacked from the DNC, revealing an apparent bias on the part of DNC officials in favor of Hillary Clinton. Debbie Wasserman Schultz resigned as head of the Committee was promptly hired by the Clinton campaign. I don’t have time to write up a detailed perspective today — will hopefully get to it tomorrow.
UPDATE: On Michael Bloomberg, whose horoscope we last looked at in February and March. Back then, I wrote:
Michael Bloomberg — Sun at 25 Aquarius; rebel Uranus at 26 Taurus. There’s talk of him launching his own run for president, and Mars now at 23 Scorpio is about to hit his fiercely daring Sun-Uranus square next week…and again in mid-June. What will happen? Haven’t seen much action in the news about Mr. Bloomberg, other than this item about him moving his personal website to an independent server. Let’s see where he’s at with initiatives in mid-June and the end of July, when Mars will hit his Sun-Uranus square for a second and third time.
…and where he’s at right now is Philadelphia, where he is scheduled to — in a burst of Mars (action!) triggering a Sun-Uranus surprise, surprise — speak at the Democratic National Convention in support of Hillary Clinton. The NYT calls it “an unexpected move.” Actually, NYT, we’d expect an unexpected move right about now. Mr. Bloomberg was a Democrat, then switched to Republican in 2000, then became an independent.
That’s is. Gotta fly. What’s going on in YOUR horoscope? Here’s the 411 on personal consultations.
Good Morning!
While you were sleeping, the regal Leo Moon made easy connections to mental Mercury and technogeek Uranus. At 9AM ET, Mercury and Uranus will make an equally easy connection between themselves. Wake up with any revolutionary, bolt from the blue ideas? You could build it into something big by Friday, when Mercury squares off with expansive Jupiter.
Donald Trump certainly had a revolutionary idea on Monday. He told CNN he wanted $5 million for his participation in the next Republican debate on December 15th. Let’s see where that idea is at the end of the week.
Keep up the good work throughout the day and chill after 10:09PM ET, when the Moon goes void until 5:09AM ET Wednesday.
And now, the news.
I wrote about China’s horoscope on August 14th, when it had just…
… devalued its currency. A quick look at its horoscope shows transiting Pluto (transformation, power plays, cutting dead wood) in hard aspect to nebulous Neptune and mental Mercury. The Neptune thing can be weird — and refers to matters involving China’s 2nd house (money, worth, values) and 10th house (status, reputation). The Mercury thing refers to matters of the 5th and 8th houses, e.g. relationships with other, self-expression and values relative to others. The Pluto-Mercury thing can be quite forceful and persuasive. These patterns will be back for a final pass in October-December, accompanied by another measurement between Saturn (control, structure, limit) and Venus (money, values, social expression). Hard aspects between Saturn and Venus can be experienced as isolating and streamlining. Let’s see what happens.
Add “ambitious” and “authoritative” in matters of social expression and value, regarding potential reflections of Saturn transits to Venus. Yesterday China’s renminbi was named a world reserve currency by the IMF, joining the dollar, the euro, the pound and the yen. That’s serious (Saturn) money (Venus).
Not quite sure what planetary folder to use for filing this item, but it did occur to me that Venus (women, aesthetics) just met up with Spica, a fixed star associated with these qualities
learned, philosophical, eloquent, creative, clever, artistic, pleasure-loving, practical, high-minded and successful, but sometimes fickle or promiscuous…
…and these qualities do seem to reflect the aesthetics in the hot-off-the-press 2016 Pirelli calendar. Traditionally the calendar features nude supermodels. This year is different:
Gone are the gym-toned limbs and heaving bosoms; in their place for the 2016 calendar, shot by Annie Leibovitz, are simple portraits of women of various sizes, ages and ethnicities chosen for their “professional, social, cultural, sporting and artistic accomplishment”
Perhaps this could also be filed under the potential reality check Saturn might reflect as it squares Neptune, symbol of idealized beauty? Yes, that feels right. There is an upside to every transit, bewildering as Saturn-Neptune transits might generally be.
Saturn refers to the elderly. In the aftermath of Sunday’s Sun-Saturn meet-up, sprinkled with pixie-dusted Neptune, consider this piece about the world’s second-oldest woman celebrating her 116th birthday. What’s her secret? Living alone (Saturn) — and lots of eggs.
Finally, for no particular reason other than it is cool, consider this item about the world’s oldest known bird in the wild: a 64-year old albatross named Wisdom. She was recently spotted in the Pacific with her mate. Humbling and awe-inspiring, if you ask me.
I don’t know anything about Wisdom’s horoscope, but I’d be delighted to discuss yours. Here’s the 411 on personal consultations. I look forward to speaking with you soon.
Thank you for sharing this forecast with all of your friends, family, party planners, conference organizers, literary agents, magazine editors and programming directors. Have a fabulous day!
Readers across the Pond may notice the shift into neutral suggested by the void-of-course Moon from 1:41AM ET – 8:06AM ET today…many in the Americas will sleep right through it. Once the Moon does engage, it charges ahead in warrior Aries. Cue Reveille now, please. And I do mean “charge,” given that the Moon will be opposed by action hero Mars at 10:40AM ET, suggesting the potential for a clash or outburst of will. Be careful on the roads…
This zippy pace is noticeably different than the dreamier flow of Monday’s Moon in Pisces. Much can be accomplished — with more inspired ideas courtesy of a harmonious alignment between mental Mercury in high-flying Sagittarius and innovative Uranus.
And now, the news.
OMG — talk about empathy, compassion, suffering and institutions — all Moon in Pisces keywords. The NYT hit a home run yesterday with the first of five installments in a series called Invisible Child. Fact: there are more than 22,000 homeless children in New York — more than any time since the Great Depression. If every homeless child was invited to a concert in Madison Square Garden, there wouldn’t be enough seats for over 4000 of them.
Invisible Child focuses on one 12-year-old girl over the course of a year. Her name is Dasani — and The Coca-Cola Company should immediately become her patron saint. Dasani is the oldest of eight brothers and sisters, one of whom is legally blind. Her parents have struggled with drug addiction. They are homeless. How do they manage to survive? Read the article. Of course when it revealed her birth date (May 26, 2001), I looked up her horoscope.
Dasani seems so much older than her chronological age — no surprise, given that her pixie-chatterbox Gemini Sun is tempered by a heavy conjunction with stern Saturn. That is serious. We’d expect a strong awareness of responsibility, and in fact, she spends a lot of her time taking care of her siblings and her mother. It helps that her Moon is in nurturing Cancer; she needs emotional security. She often gets into fights — verbal and physical — with her peers. Well, of course she would, with an exact opposition between mental Mercury in Gemini and Mars in rowdy Sagittarius. Not to mention Venus in Aries — sign of a warrior in social expression — impulsive, inspiring and indomitable. Just read the article. Maybe if enough people read it, we can have some productive discussions on how we’ve gotten to a point in the world where so few people have so much more than everyone else.
As it turns out, planetary patterns do suggest an overturning of the status quo — though not without a fight. Fast-food workers striking for a higher minimum wage are likely just the beginning. As for how much money you’re likely to earn, based on your Myers-Briggs personality type, here are the results of that study.
OK…other news. How about a story about magical (Mercury-Neptune) thinking out of the box (Mercury-Uranus). It seems our intelligence agencies have been practicing their Secret Squirrel activities disguised as orcs and trolls — in role-playing fantasy worlds like Second Life and World of Warcraft. No word on whether they discovered any suspicious activities. Meanwhile, 500 of the world’s leading authors are calling for a “digital bill of rights,” arguing that “state surveillance of personal data is theft.”
Mercury-Uranus aspects can suggest brilliance, nervous energy, madness or at the very least, an unconventional mindset. Here’s a fascinating item about autism: a new study suggests that some of the behaviors associated with the condition are actually gastro-intestinal issues and could be treated with probiotics. That’s your PSA of the day.
Why not gift yourself — or a special someone on your holiday shopping list –with a personal astro-logical consultation? I have lovely gift certificates to email or snail mail — and here’s the 411 on all that.
A sensitive, soulful Pisces Moon starts off the work week, along with First Quarter square from the gamboling/gambling Sagittarius Sun at 10:10AM ET. This suggests a challenge to whatever New Moon agenda you set last week, though there’s enough optimism offered by a harmonious connection from expansive Jupiter to give you hope of quashing whatever obnoxious fly lands in your ointment. Your brain could channel all sorts of innovation solutions today and tomorrow, courtesy of an inventive alignment between mental Mercury and rebel Uranus. Think outside the box!
Your Moon voids this week: Tuesday 1:41AM ET – 8:06AM ET; Thursday 10:37AM ET – 3:40PM ET — not bad for productivity and holiday gift shopping. Know anyone who might appreciate being gifted with a personal astro-logical consultation? I have a few gaily — yet tastefully — decorated gift certificates I would be delighted to send via snail mail or email. That “anyone” might even be you. Here’s the 411 on all the various consultations to choose from.
There’s plenty to report in the news, including ongoing upheaval in Thailand and the Ukraine — areas to watch for ever-escalating tensions at the end of the month. More accidents and aggression pulled focus over the weekend, reflected by physical Mars at the prominent Aries Point (0 Libra, on Saturday). One accident led to a rare eruption of violence in Singapore; bad weather and careless driving led to another 50+ car pile-up — this time in Pennsylvania. But the story I had to investigate further was Maureen Dowd’s Sunday NYT column entitled, “Woodrow Wilson, Stud Muffin”.
Really, Woodrow Wilson? Stud muffin? Yes, really — and a Pulitzer prize-winning author — A. Scott Berg — wrote a book about our 28th president that was published a few months ago. Not only that, but Leonardo DiCaprio has optioned the book. I had to investigate the planetary patterns behind these events. So here they are. Woodrow Wilson is a Capricorn — born Dec 29 1856 (here is the horoscope). If you’ve been paying any attention to my writings on the never-ending Uranus-Pluto square, you know that Capricorns born at the end of December were super-charged in 2012 and 2013. Saturn, which rules Wilson’s Capricorn Sun, is at 11 Cancer — also under the influence of Uranus and Pluto. We’d expect Wilson to become more prominent and empowered during this time.
But Pluto and Uranus aren’t finished with Wilson’s horoscope yet. Wilson’s Ascendant is 15 degrees of Libra; his Midheaven (career status/reputation) is 17 Cancer; his Mercury is 18 Cancer…and all three points will be super-charged by Uranus-Pluto in 2015. If the film is made — and released in 2015, it should get quite a bit of attention. Let the record also show that right now, transiting Jupiter (expansion, publishing) is on Wilson’s Midheaven, suggesting public recognition/honor — and it’s been there since mid-September, when the book and movie deal hit the headline. Makes sense!
As for the “stud muffin” part, that’s easy to see — with loving Venus and horny Mars exactly conjunct in Aquarius (and square to Uranus), we could expect Wilson to have a bit of a buzz about him, unconventional relationships and a strong appreciation for friendship. Other aspects to Pluto in his horoscope suggest intense emotional engagement — even with all that “I love you, but don’t take it personally” Aquarius/Uranus emphasis.
There are other intriguing measurements in Wilson’s horoscope that suggest a strong connection with the public right now, and any students of astrology should check out the current solar arcs. They are fun, but what is going on in Leonardo DiCaprio’s horoscope is even more fun, as it reflects perfectly his connection to Woodrow Wilson! DiCaprio is a Scorpio — born 11/11/74– here is the horoscope. He has Moon at 15 Libra — exactly on Wilson’s Ascendant — this is a compelling emotional connection. Not only that, DiCaprio’s has three planets — Sun, Venus and Saturn — making an easy connection with Wilson’s Midheaven. Sweet!
Solar arcs and transits in DiCaprio’s horoscope over the next 2-4 years suggest increased public prominence and acclaim. The synchronicity with Wilson’s horoscope is faaaaaascinating –I could write more — but for now, I’m dashing this off — and we’ll see how this film project develops over the next two years. Di Caprio should do very well, regardless.
Glad to hear so many enjoyed my thoughts on Mars in Libra — posted Friday. Thank you for your kind emails of appreciation.
I hope your day yesterday was productive, even if a bit intense, given the Moon’s passage through the watery depths of Scorpio. And it’s not over yet. This day begins with a tense First Quarter Moon at 6:56AM ET, and for some this may present a stubborn clash of will related to the New Moon agenda you set last week. You don’t remember what that was? See the previous link for a recap. If a tough dose of reality is dampening your royal spirits today, therein lies your challenge for the next week, until the Full Moon on the 20th. This more likely applies to you if you have a planet or point around 5 degrees of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio or Aquarius.
If, on the other hand, you have planets or an angle anywhere between 8 and 12 degrees of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn, you may be bouncing off walls today and for the next several days, courtesy of expansive Jupiter in that area of the zodiac, supercharged now by dynamic connections to ruthless Pluto and rebel Uranus. What do you mean, you don’t know if this applies to you? Well isn’t it time you consulted with an astrologer about your horoscope, so you can be fully informed?
The rest of the day is light on planetary patterns. The highlight — as noted on Monday, is the inventive potential of a harmonious connection between mental Mercury and unconventional Uranus. Really, try thinking outside the box for a solution to your problems. Be on the lookout for revelations and breakthroughs in communication and mindset, with a futuristic and/or humanitarian angle. Speaking of which, Bradley Manning may finally break his silence and express a few words in court today, as his sentencing hearing continues…
Take a break from the intense focus of moving things forward and chill if you can around 5:30pm ET, when the Moon goes void. At 9:04pm ET, the mood should lighten up considerably when the Moon enters high-flying Sagittarius, seeking to broaden horizons and spout opinions everywhere. Walk in the woods; catch a foreign film; initiate a philosophical debate.
In the news, it should surprise no one that rocket scientist entrepreneur Elon Musk has natal Uranus square the Sun and Mercury, and that the span of that pattern is 6 to 14 degrees of Cancer and Libra. He’s been supercharged by the ongoing Uranus-Pluto square for a couple of years, and the influence will continue into 2015. Earlier this week he unveiled plans for yet another mode of transportation, a hypothetical high-speed train called a Hyperloop, designed to take passengers from Los Angeles to San Francisco in half an hour.
Expansive Jupiter’s continued contact with the revolutionary potential of Uranus and Pluto was reflected in other strking headlines. Jupiter also refers to the law; Uranus to aerospace, so it was interesting to note that the Justice Department is seeking to block a proposed merger between U.S. Air and American Airlines. Another intriguing legal bulletin with far-reaching consequences — keeping in mind that Jupiter is now in Cancer and focused on homeland security concerns: in New York, a controversial “stop and frisk” program was declared unconstitutional. Here’s another: a class-action suit alleging violations of privacy by Facebook was settled a few years ago, but the plaintiffs are not happy and now are pushing for the case to be heard by the Supreme Court. Why? Because the settlement apparently earned the lawyers millions, but nothing of value appears to have been gained by the plaintiffs.
In the category of “news from underground” we can expect to hear when Uranus and Pluto are triggered, another sinkhole opened up in Florida this week, swallowing part of a resort. And last but not least, Jupiter itself is in the news, as NASA’s Juno spacecraft officially reached the halfway mark on its journey to the biggest planet in our solar system. Fascinating to note its scheduled arrival on July 4, 2016 at 7:29PM (chart cast for Mission Control in Pasadena, CA) shows Uranus exactly opposing the Midheaven, and Jupiter will be trining Pluto. Seriously, do they consult with astrologers on the timing of these landings? Check out this analysis of the horoscope of the Mars Curiosity landing last August — there’s Uranus, right on angle. Coincidence or conspiracy?
As with last week, the start of the work week presents us with a void-of -course Moon, suggesting the usual twists in your efforts to move forward in a straight line and perhaps a double shot of espresso to get your going. It has been wandering aimlessly since 9:29PM ET on Sunday. The Moon is in Libra, a relationship-oriented energy that challenges us to find balance and harmony in our interactions with others. Go with the flow today; remember that crises that crop up during Moon voids are often much ado about nothing. The flake factor is higher during Moon voids; don’t take it personally.
At 4:18PM ET, Moon slithers into Scorpio with no fanfare at all, though you may notice a shift as rational debate is replaced by a need for emotional depth and substance. Not until after midnight on Tuesday does the Moon interact with any other planets. Meanwhile, if you have nothing else on your plate, the Perseids are back tonight with a vengeance. More info on this annual meteor shower can be found here.
For those wondering what went down over the weekend (as I did not post a forecast), Saturday’s Moon in Libra was fairly quiet; Sunday’s Moon was batted around by the disruptive Uranus-Pluto square in the early morning hours, ET. The main aspect of the weekend was a stern challenge between mental Mercury and wet blanket Saturn. On the plus side, an opportunity to do some serious — and I do mean serious — brainstorming. On the downside, the potential for heavy, heavy thoughts and overwhelming responsibility. Blergh.
Overall, planetary patterns are light this week. Those heavy thoughts may be replaced by an innovative brainstorm in the days leading up to Wednesday’s easy connection between Mercury and rocket scientist Uranus. Further breakthroughs and sudden changes of fortune can be anticipated (by those directly affected) as we get closer to expansive Jupiter’s square to rebel Uranus on the 21st. You’re affected if you have a planet or angle around 12 degrees of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn.
Moon voids for the rest of the week — Wednesday 5:30pm – 9:04PM ET; Friday 1:32PM ET – 11:25pm ET. Another Friday to leave work early….
The Moon in relationship-oriented Libra — as of 6:38PM ET on Monday — seeks peace, balance, appreciation and thoughtful, rational discussion. Achieving these objectives in the early AM hours may be tricky, as Moon is challenged by Pluto at 7:59AM ET and opposed by rebel Uranus at 9:26AM ET. Sudden insights or jolts and/or deep emotional connections — or confrontations –relating to power and control are possibilities.
Optimistic, inventive and expansive thinking is suggested all this week, as Mercury (mindset) makes a supportive connection to Jupiter at 3:15PM ET today and another easy connection with technogeek Uranus at 9:28AM ET on Wednesday. Write all of your great ideas down…just keep in mind that they may require further fleshing out once Mercury turns direct on August 8th.
Other aspects for the day: an impassioned connection between Moon and aggressive Mars is exact at 3:09PM ET — helpful for a creative pitch; note that debates might be especially heated. If you’re in the Western hemisphere, this is the only full work day we’ll have without a Moon void — ship it today if you can
After two days of proactivity it’s time to chill. Moon goes void-of-course in earthy Capricorn for 12 hours, starting at 8:25AM ET (if you are new to this forecast and don’t know what a Moon void is, click on the helpful link above). The void begins on a sobering connection to stern Saturn, planet of discipline and structure, but frankly, the party poopers will face tough competition from the swell of idealism that follows at 9:27AM ET, as mental Mercury and loving Venus make an intensely rose-colored hook-up. Why not go with the flow? During a long Moon void, that is an excellent course of action, as efforts to move purposefully in a straight line are more subject to twists and turns.
This is an awesome day for inventive minds and unconventional connections and approaches. Mercury and socially conscious Venus also make easy connections to innovative Uranus at 1:54PM ET and 10:36PM ET. Brainstorm to your heart’s content; hang out with a weird, wacky group of friends or strangers, and sit on the edge of your seat, waiting for today’s big announcement about the Higgs boson particle, a.k.a. the “God particle”. Astrological patterns support the rumors that they are closerthanthis to finding it…very, very hopeful…but so far, no cigar. The announcement is perfectly in synch with astrological patterns, as the Higgs boson theory was first posed in the early 60s (1964, I believe), just before the Uranus-Pluto conjunction in Virgo. Makes sense that we would see a major development happening on the Uranus-Pluto square.
Quantum physicists and astrologers have a few things in common. How so? Consider this:
Theory predicts that the Higgs boson’s existence is too fleeting to be recorded by LHC instruments, but physicists think they can confirm its creation if they can spot the particles it decays into.
A parallel example in astrology is any astrological pattern, such as the Uranus-Pluto square that is the dominant pattern for the next three years on Planet Earth. What is the physical reality of this pattern? What does it look like? I have no idea. But I know this pattern matters, because I can spot what happens on planetary and individual levels, as a result. Ooohhhhh…that is so… “choke me in the shallow waters/before I get too deep”. Take it away, Edie Brickell & the New Bohemians (after you listen to the song, consider buying it on iTunes).
The Moon enters Aquarius at 8:26PM ET, right before the fireworks begin on the East Coast. Let the friendly, humanitarian, socially significant (albeit somewhat eccentric) vibe continue….all day Thursday…and again on Friday. Please make sure everything is set up properly if you are setting off fireworks, especially if you set them up during the 12-hour Moon void.
Have a Happy 4th!
