Up and at ’em!
No sleeping in on this Monday; the Moon is fully engaged in Aquarius, a most excellent sign for networking, especially with people you haven’t chatted with in a while (thank you, Mercury retrograde). There’s plenty of planetary drive and innovation to push you through the day, with the only caveat being a challenge to the very stubborn Moon from equally stubborn Saturn at 5:54PM ET. This can manifest as an ambitious reach for some; or a wet blanket for others. Fortunately aspects to the Moon do not last long. Next!
Planetary patterns are lighter this week. Highlights include a pleasant connection between Venus (money, women, art, social expression) and expansive Jupiter on Wednesday, followed by an idealistic hook-up between mental Mercury and the Gemini Sun — that’ll likely be reflected in communication this week. Also of note: on Saturday we’ll have the Summer Solstice — a turning point — as a change in seasons always suggests.
Moon voids are short, few and far between this week. Tuesday’s void at 2:07PM ET lasts for 19 minutest — blink and you’ll miss it. Thursday at 3:06PM ET, Moon will be void for a mere 2 hours and 20 minutes. Not until Saturday evening at 6:24 PM ET do we get a cosmic four and a half hour break.
And now, a little bit of news…
It just wouldn’t be a real Mercury retrograde if we didn’t have at least one transportation strike. In Philadelphia, President Obama has intervened in one; train travelers are not so lucky in France. Meanwhile, a freaky Mercury retrograde mix-up happened when a California jury mistakenly signed a “not guilty” verdict form, which set a burglar free. What’s freaky is that hours later, the burglar was killed. Finally, more “news from underground,” this time a “frozen underworld” beneath Greenland…

My, my, my…will the sound of sirens never end? Way more than usual over the past week…
The high-flying Sagittarius Moon is void this morning until 1:04PM ET. Go with the flow of whatever twists you may encounter in your efforts to move forward in a straight line. After the void, the Moon gets into gear in “make it happen” Capricorn, carrying us through most of the weekend. Lunar aspects are light today, but are power-packed tomorrow (Saturday), as Capricorn’s enterprising energy is supercharged by contact with the Uranus-Pluto square, and also aggressive Mars. The dust settles around 9:17PM ET, with a harmonious connection between the Moon and Venus in material security-seeking Taurus. t
Sunday’s only exact aspect is an exuberant challenge to the Capricorn (patriarchal) Moon from jolly Jupiter at 2:35AM ET, on which it goes void until 1:27pm ET. Perfect for dads who want to chill on Father’s Day — not good for buying last-minute gifts for said dads. The rest of the day has a friendly, networking vibe, courtesy of the Moon in Aquarius. No sleeping in on Monday.
And now, the news.
As noted in earlier forecasts, this third square between Mars in Libra and Pluto in Capricorn is especially potent. War and guns (downside); great efforts and cars…there are so many headlines about cars this week. A car crashes into CNN headquarters and makes the homepage. We already talked about Uber and the traffic jams irate taxi drivers are creating in Europe. Tesla’s Elon Musk opened up his company’s patents, perhaps hoping to increase acceptance and usage of electric cars. And even a headline about a sports match sounds like a crash: “Heat’s Crash Course Can’t Prevent Another Wreck Against the Spurs”. It’s like the writers at the NYT are influenced by planetary patterns, whether they know it or not. Speaking of sports matches, Mars-Pluto aspects suggest especially intense competition: here’s to the World Cup (and what’s left of the Stanley Cup).
Meanwhile, war and the breakdown of the established order in Iraq is the subject of today’s NYT editorial, FYI. Here’s a piece about the economic benefits of “major wars”. For a piece on ginormous energy resources, here’s the latest video on solar flares. In other news, I’ve noticed that triggers to Pluto and Uranus by other planets seem to reflect more “news from underground” in the headlines. Apparently scientists have discovered an underground ocean three times the size of those on the Earth’s surface. In Venezuela, however, no one is going underground, because there’s a shortage of coffins. Why is this story making headlines now (I ask, rhetorically).

…and here we go. Venus opposing Saturn. One of the most compelling stories I found was about an unemployed mother (Venus) of seven who died in jail because she could not pay $2000 in fines accrued because her children skipped school. Saturn refers to debt. Even more compelling is how this story was reported by various papers. Here’s how the Cleveland Plain-Dealer told it, and here is how ThinkProgress told it. Which publication did the best job of covering this story? Which publication actually told the whole story?
If Venus opposing Saturn were a person, this might be its favorite joke:

Interesting to see a theater review in the NYT with this headline: Sex, Violence and Power — with a Feminist Slant. Meanwhile, another heavy note involving a woman in the arts (Venus): actress and civil rights activist Ruby Dee passed away. Here is her horoscope; she has a Scorpio Sun conjunct Mercury and Saturn; these three planets are trine Mars in sensitive, vulnerable Pisces. Very heavy indeed and also “enduring,” which is how her career is described in the NYT obituary; she often played “the loyal, worried loved one”.
Ms. Dee’s people-pleasing 25 degree Libra Moon was eclipsed in April; her Pluto at 13 Cancer has been supercharged by the Cardinal Grand Cross. That Libra Moon would be sensitive to social graces, fairness and justice, and her Sagittarius Ascendant would suggest a mask of most righteous opinion. As noted in the NYT, “in 2005 Ms. Dee received a lifetime achievement award from the National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis. ‘You can only appreciate freedom,’ she said then, ‘when you find yourself in a position to fight for someone else’s freedom and not worry about your own.'” RIP.

The high-flying, righteously opinionated Sagittarius Full Moon is exact just after midnight — 12:11AM ET — on Friday. Innovation and action are favored in the morning and early afternoon, courtesy of “think outside the box” Uranus and warrior Mars connecting with the Moon. There’s no Moon void in business hours to add further potential confusion to Mercury’s current retrograde — huzzah! Moon does go void at 12:11AM ET — not to enter the next sign, Capricorn, until 1:04PM ET, so get it off your desk today if you can’t wait until tomorrow afternoon.
This Full Moon — which offers enlightenment and a potential release of whatever agenda you set on the New Moon on May 28th — is not a chocolate-covered marshmallow bunny. At 12:09AM ET, there’s an opposition between Venus (love,money, women, art, social expression) and Saturn (discipline, patriarchy, authority, control) suggesting a no-nonsense approach that may seem ambitious, cutting or controlled. You may recall from yesterday’s post that Eric Cantor has a Venus-Saturn square, and he is not known as a social charmer.
At 8:34AM ET, the Mars-Pluto square we’ve been talking about all week will be exact. This is significant because it is the third in a series of Mars-Pluto squares we were scheduled to experience with Mars in Libra, where it has been since December. The first square was on December 31st; the second was on April 23rd. If you have a planet or angle around 11-14 degrees of Aries, Cancer, Libra or Capricorn, you may have been involved in a power play or exerted an unusually powerful effort.
Speaking of Eric Cantor, the Sabian Symbol for the Full Moon at 23 Sagittarius is “immigrants entering”. Which is fascinating, given all the reports speculating that Cantor lost because of his stance on immigration issues…and also that his defeat suggests that there’s no way an immigration reform bill will be passed this year (there’s no way the 113th Congress will likely do anything of consequence, as noted in prior forecasts). Fun fact: the Cantor re-election campaign did an internal poll between May 27 and May 28, showing he had a 34-point lead over his opponent. We had a dead Moon in Taurus all day on the 27th, a sign that does not like change — and it was void-of-course. The New Moon did not begin until 2:40PM on the 28th — and if you recall, it was sponsored in part by the rose-colored fog of nebulous Neptune. Take-away lesson: if you’re going take a opinion poll and you want reliable information, don’t do it on a dead void of course Moon. Here’s the latest on Eric Cantor and his victorious opponent, cheerfully presented as usual by NYT columnist Gail Collins.
The other Sabian Symbol in this lunation is the Sun at 23 Gemini: “three fledglings in a nest high in a tree”. So immediately we see a polarity between these fledglings who are not quite ready to leave home (but must), and the immigrants who have left their homes and just arrived in a whole new world. Sabian Symbol guru Blain Bovee suggests we apply these symbols with a mind to “…a passage to a new life, a new level of maturity, the moment before a new independent life takes off…” Bovee has a lot more to say, and if you enjoy the Sabian Symbols, why not buy his book. In your own personal world, you may receive illumination or a release on a “let’s get down to business” new stage in life if you have a planet or angle at around 23 Gemini or Sagittarius.
And now, some more news.
Minutes ago, this item hit the wires about the current upheaval in Iraq, reflecting a great effort involving money that is quite sobering: $425 million seized by militants in a successful series of bank robberies, making them “the world’s richest terrorist group”. Also minutes ago: the Supreme Court (Saturn) rules that money in an IRA (Venus) inherited from a parent (Saturn) is not protected from creditors should you declare bankruptcy.
Meanwhile, taxi drivers in Europe angry (Mars square Pluto) about the success of the taxi app Uber are causing traffic meltdowns (Mercury retrograde) everywhere. Yesterday Uber announced a ginormous amount of investment capital raised on a stupendous $17 billion valuation. Finally, a group of moms (Venus) meant serious business (Saturn) when they attended a Target shareholder meeting to demand it prohibit the open carry of guns (Mars) in its stores. I’ve seen a lot of posts about open carry on Facebook this week, including this purportedly helpful cartoon/PSA.

The Scorpio Moon is void of course until 11:23AM ET, suggesting a slow start or twist to your morning routine. After that, the Moon enters high-flying Sagittarius, lifting spirits and lessening the heavy intensity some may have noted during the past 24 hours. Moon in Sagittarius is an excellent time for travel and other activities that broaden your mind, including righteous and fiery discussions on philosophical subjects. It’s good for a gambol or a gamble, too. There are no exact aspects to the Moon until just after midnight on Thursday, when it is challenged by nebulous Neptune. A dreamy evening may be yours, accompanied by spirits or a spiritual escape. Maybe some high art or music, too.
Or you may simply feel bewildered, as soon-to-be former House Majority Leader Eric Cantor may be feeling. He’s a Gemini, born with Moon in Sagittarius, so he can certainly appreciate the Sag need to express opinions and be respected for having them. We do not have an exact birth time, but if he was born within a few hours of noon on June 6, 1963 (in Richmond, VA), he’s experiencing a bewildering challenge from nebulous Neptune to the Moon in his own horoscope. In case you have not heard, Mr. Cantor “lost his Republican primary bid (Tuesday) in a completely befuddling upset no one saw coming.” Befuddling definitely sounds like Neptune in action.
I’ve looked at the planetary patterns on Mr. Cantor’s birth date in the past, long enough see what planetary patterns might suggest him being so darn mean. Seriously, that’s always been part of my impression of him. Mean — as in, not much empathy for certain people who might be impacted by his sincerely-held beliefs on how things should be. I actually started to type “Why is Eric Cantor so mean?” into Google, but only got as far as “Why is Eric Cantor…” before Google helpfully suggested “…such a douche”. Which surprised me, but apparently that word has been used in tandem with Mr. Cantor since 2009-ish, at least on the web. But about his planetary patterns…
There’s a stubborn, idealistic and material security-seeking hook-up between mental Mercury and Venus in Taurus that is exactly squared by stern, controlling Saturn in equally stubborn and potentially fringe Aquarius. Irony: Saturn in Aquarius suggests a need to help people. I am sure he does. A Saturn-Venus square could be reflected in a reserved or chilly emotional expression — “warm and fuzzy” would not be the first impression, compared to — say — this video of an adorable and heartwarming relationship between an orphaned baby rhino and his human caretaker. The Saturn-Mercury square suggests a potentially controlled or controlling mindset; disciplined and careful, but also perhaps narrow-minded. This pattern among Mercury, Venus and Saturn was hit hard by transiting Saturn through February, March and April, likely triggering issues concerning his professional ambition. He was elected to the Virginia House in 1992, on his first Saturn return (which also would have activated that Mercury-Venus conjunction). In 2000, with transiting Saturn squaring Saturn and conjunct his Mercury-Venus, he ran for Congress. In 2002, rebel Uranus made contact with Cantor’s Mercury-Venus-Saturn square, and he was appointed Chief Deputy Republican Whip, the highest appointed position in the Republican Caucus. In 2008, with pixiedust Neptune engaged with that square, he was unanimously elected Republican Whip. So there’s a little picture of how planets making contact to Saturn may be reflected in over time in a horoscope — and now you may understand why becoming aware of them can be helpful.

Cantor has an exact hook-up between Mars (action) and Uranus (rebel). Mars-Uranus aspects can be volatile; in Virgo, we’d expect an intensification of Cantor’s need for detailed, perfectionist action by whatever free-spirited/revolutionary/independent means possible. Also of significance: his Jupiter at 13 Aries, which you should immediately note was supercharged by April’s Cardinal Grand Cross. Jupiter in the horoscope suggests how a person needs to be rewarded, and with Jupiter in Aries it is me-me-me all the way. Me first, me lead, my way or the highway, as suggested in this intriguing page from Cantor’s high school yearbook. You’d think transits to Jupiter, the cosmic sugar daddy, from Uranus, Pluto, Mars and Jupiter would suggest expanding resources, as in a windfall investment. And other measurements in Cantor’s horoscope do support material enjoyment in the near future. His next gig is likely to be quite lucrative. This sudden upset is likely reflected by transits to his Midheaven and/or his Ascendant, which we’d see if we wanted to take the time to figure out his birthtime.
In the horoscope of the US, April’s Cardinal Grand Cross suggested a disruption of the status quo, which was mentioned in this forecast back in 2011 – and in other posts, should you care to search this site or Google “us horoscope 2014 graceastrology” I’d argue this upset in the balance of power in Congress is part of that disruption, with more to come…

More of the same from yesterday. The Moon is still in Scorpio, seeking depth, substance and knowledge for the sake of power and control. You may feel an especially serious focus around 2:30PM ET, when the Moon hooks up with stern Saturn, suggesting a reach for ambition or someone raining on someone’s parade. At 10:21PM ET, Moon goes void until 11:23AM ET on Wednesday, suggesting a natural break in the action — and if you happen to sleep through your alarm tomorrow morning, chances are good that it will be without consequence, so long as you do not freak out about it.
Emotions are building now to the Full Moon in Sagittarius at 12:11AM ET on Friday. We are also building to an exact square between Mars and Pluto (Saturday at 8:34AM ET). We had one of these on April 23rd, as part of the dynamic Cardinal Grand Cross that everyone was talking about. Mars-Pluto squares suggest more than the usual share of “if it bleeds, it leads” headlines, and that’s in line with what I’ve been seeing on the NYT homepage. In your own personal world, you may witness more than the usual outbursts of energy. I’ve noticed an increase of sirens in my ‘hood in recent days. Plus the potential for accidents caused by a lack of focus is greater, suggested by mental Mercury and nebulous Neptune just turning retrograde. “Friendly Fire Strike Kills 5 Special Ops Soldiers in Afghanistan” is the biggest story on the NYT right now. So please stay FOCUSED this month, OK?
A couple of other Mars-Pluto militant stories of note, with input from often eccentric and extreme — and nearly always rebel Uranus in warrior/solider Aries square Pluto in “the Establishment” Capricorn. First, you may have heard about the couple in Las Vegas who killed two police officers and a WalMart shopper over the weekend, before killing themselves. Police say “they equated law enforcement with fascism,” according to this report. One of the shooters shouted “this is a revolution!” (Uranus in Aries square Pluto in Capricorn), and then draped a “Don’t Tread On Me” (more Aries) flag and a Nazi swastika over the carnage, perhaps not fully comprehending, as blogger Lee Papa pointed out, that “the Nazis were all about centralized government control.”
Second, is this item: “War Gear Flows to Police Departments”. Apparently a lot of high-tech (Uranus) combat (Aries) gear that might have gone to “an overseas battlefield” is sitting in the municipal garage of Neenah, Wisconsin (and other places), not likely to be beaten into ploughshares anytime soon — but now available for use by local law enforcement (Pluto in Capricorn in a cooperative alignment with Saturn in Scorpio). Of course, whether this “war gear” is ever used by local law enforcement is up to the local law enforcers — with the point being, as my mentor loves to say, “Planets don’t DO anything. PEOPLE do.” Planetary patterns suggest POTENTIAL — for better or for worse. Which will you choose?
Uranus leaves Aries for the rest of our lifetimes in 2019. Its last journey through Aries was April 1927 through May 1935, making squares to Pluto in Cancer between 1931 – 1934. History buffs, feel free to look for similar themes in events happening now with events happening then. You will find them.
The potential for fiery combustion suggested by the aforementioned planets can also be seen in this amazing wedding photo” — taken on Saturday in Oregon, the day Mercury turned retrograde (what could go wrong?), and set against the backdrop of — a raging wildfire. It’s pretty amazing, as are these explosive, allegedly world record-setting fireworks in Dubai.
Also amazing and making news yesterday, when Neptune turned retrograde: a experimental procedure in which surgeons will drain the blood (Neptune) of certain trauma patients; replace it with freezing salt water (Neptune), and then try to save their lives. Finally, reflecting Sunday’s potentially healing connection between Venus (women) and Pluto: an update on less-invasive/destructive therapies for treating breast cancer.
You may recall yesterday’s item about how the last New Moon was likely to impact events involving Flight MH370. How might a New Moon impact the horoscope of an individual? I’ll give you an example from my horoscope, in which the ruler of my 7th house was conjoined by the New Moon in Gemini on May 28th. The 7th house refers to reaching out to others, either one-on-one or the public in general. The Gemini New Moon refers to information and communication. And in this cycle I’ve had one request for an interview (happening in July), another request to contribute an article to a webzine with a mainstream audience, and last, but not least, an excerpt from the forecast written on that New Moon was “discovered” and published on the website of The Mountain Astrologer. Coincidence or conspiracy?

Moon entered the watery depths of Scorpio at 6:38AM ET, offering plenty of energy to acquire, organize and control knowledge in its quest for world domination. It’s aided by an easy connection to mental Mercury around noon ET; intuitive faculties may be heightened around 8:30PM ET, courtesy of a lift from dreamy Neptune. And speaking of Neptune, it turns retrograde at 3:51PM ET today until November 15/16, depending on your time zone. When a planet is retrograde, the suggestion is to turn inward on issues involving that planet, as opposed to looking outside the self. Neptune refers to vision, intuition, healing and other intangibles. In the mundane world, Neptune refers to water, oceans, oil, toxins, snake oil, fantasy and fanatics and spirits of all kinds.
With Neptune at its station (apparently standing still, about to move backwards), it was interesting to see this hopeful item on Facebook and the news. A 19-year-old man says he knows how to clean up the Great Pacific Garbage Patch in 10 years. The story is not new; it was referenced in this forecast last year, but planetary patterns seem to support it making the rounds again.
Neptune refers to deception and scandal, and also to suffering, compassion and charity. With Neptune, things may not be as they seem, as suggested in this story about a Virginia state senator who is resigning from office and what he gains by doing so (and also what’s at stake for the rest of the Virginia). What’s at stake may be the expansion of Medicaid, a taxpayer-funded program that offers healing (Neptune) to those suffering at the bottom of the income ladder (Neptune). Interesting to see this report on the NYT homepage about the residents of Texarkana, a town that straddles two states. One state has expanded Medicaid, made possible under the Affordable Healthcare Act; the other state has not. Thus we can learn, for example, about a woman who works the night shift at WalMart in Arkansas, but lives in a homeless shelter in Texas, “the wrong side of town.” If she lived in an Arkansas shelter, she would have access to affordable healthcare, which is not offered by her employer. Bewildering.
Equally bewildering is why anyone who has a job — even at WalMart — can not afford to rent a place to live in Texarkana, where housing costs are nowhere near as prohibitive as, say — New York. Fortunately for many, current planetary patterns strongly suggest that work — and the resources earned as a result — are under pressure to change. Last week, Seattle followed through and raised its minimum wage to $15/hour. Others will follow.
Your Moon voids for the week: Tuesday 10:21PM ET until Wednesday 11:23AM ET; Friday at 12:11AM ET until 1:04pM ET. Not much of a factor for those doing business in the Americas; this should help you stay FOCUSED, which is what is especially required when doing business while Mercury is retrograde.
Speaking of Mercury retrograde, it was notable that one of Saturday morning’s big headlines was about a fatal six-car accident involving actor Tracy Morgan. Investigators are seeking to determine if the driver of a WalMart big rig fell asleep at the wheel. Interesting to see that the chart for the time of the accident: around 1AM on 6/7/2014 in Cranbury, NJ has Neptune right on the Ascendant, suggesting a bewildering fog! Please stay focused while moving from place to place this week — not only because of the greater need for focus, but also because of a supercharged connection Mars (action/aggression) will make to potent/ruthless Pluto on the 14th, just after the Full Moon. Now that you are informed, you can consciously use this energy surge to your advantage. More about Mars-Pluto connections later this week.
Finally, speaking of planetary patterns at the time of accidents, in the chart for flight MH370’s departure, the Moon was at 8 Gemini, and it exactly opposed the chart’s Ascendant. Who remembers that last week’s New Moon was 8 Gemini? Who remembers that when a New Moon makes direct contact with your unique horoscope, you can expect action during that lunar cycle? With MH370, we could expect increased public awareness/outreach (Moon opposing the Ascendant), involving information (Gemini Moon) and possibly involving other people’s money (Moon rules the 8th house). Genius at work. The perfection-seeking Moon goes void at 5:13AM ET until 10:13PM ET. So be aware of the POTENTIAL for twists and or odd delays in your efforts to move forward. This will help you chill out, should your day feel like you’re herding cats. Otherwise keep calm and carry on, and pay attention to particularly inventive thoughts — your own or from others, as technogeek breakthrough could be yours — or in the news. Like this item about a medical first: a DNA test is used to diagnose an illness. At 10:01PM ET on Friday, Moon engages in people-pleasing Libra, where it will be for the rest of the weekend. Go forth, be social, fair and balanced. Would it surprise you to know that Fox News was launched when the Sun was it Libra (its slogan is “fair and balanced”). CNBC’s slogan is “FIRST in business worldwide” — and CNBC was launched in pioneering Aries. Isn’t that interesting?

Saturday’s big news is Mercury turning retrograde — and this was covered in Monday’s forecast. Between 7:31PM and 4:13AM ET on Sunday, the peace-seeking Libra Moon may be rattled by its weekly contact with Mars, Pluto and Uranus, suggesting the potential for power plays, emotional catharses and sudden disruptions of the status quo. These contacts are fleeting, mind you — but if you work in an ER, it could make for a busy evening.
Sunday’s aspects are more harmonious — and they build to a buoyant connection between jolly Jupiter and the Moon at 3:47PM ET…at which point the Moon goes void again until Monday at 6:38AM ET. So get your Sunday shopping done early…so you can focus on a harmonious connection between Venus (love, money, women, beauty, social expression) and depth-seeking, regenerative Pluto. Refine, analyze, organize; make it right or perfect — with the innovative spin and rosy glow that sums up the week’s palette of planetary patterns. Keep calm and carry on! The Moon is still in Virgo, and the highlight of the day happens at 4:39PM ET when the Moon squares the Gemini Sun.
The First Quarter of a planetary cycle is a square. In this case, the planets involved are the Sun and the Moon. The square is a tense aspect, suggesting a push forward on the agenda that was set at the New Moon. The First Quarter may also bring up obstacles to that agenda.
The New Moon agenda was symbolized by “an industrial strike” — e.g., striking a blow; striking out; striking a balance, etc. The Sabian Symbols for the First Quarter Moon are as follows: for the Sun at 16 Gemini “a woman suffragist orating”, suggesting, as Sabian Symbol Blaine Bovee writes, “sensing the right time to have one’s words heard and believed…feeling one has to shout to have an equal say; a tendency to led by the loudest social voice”. For the Moon at 16 Virgo we find: “In the zoo, children are brought face to face with an orangutan”. Bovee helpfully tells us that “orangutan” means “wild man”, and that one of the origins of the word “orange” is “aur”, which means “gold”. I’m not sure how that will play out, but if you witness any challenges around 4:39PM ET that seem like a confrontation between an orating suffragette and a wild man somehow connected to gold, it’s reflecting the symbols of the First Quarter Moon. How about this item about “Walmart Moms” who went on strike in 20 cities on Wednesday?
In other news, there were a bunch of primary elections in various states — and NYT columnist Gail Collins may be the only person in New York who’s been paying attention. Here’s her latest, about a surprise upset in Mississippi with low voter turnout. Interesting to note that the Moon was void for most of the day on Tuesday, when the flake factor is usually higher and the chances of upsets favoring the underdog are greater. More surprise upsets happened last Tuesday in a Texas primary run-off, during another all-day Moon void. In Iowa, “mother, soldier, conservative” and former hog castration specialist Joni Ernst emerged victorious in a five-way primary race and will now campaign as the Republican party’s nominee for Senate. In California, turnout was also wretchedly low. Marianne Williamson, who was running for Congress in the 33rd district, did not make the cut. Sandra Fluke, whose trashing by Rush Limbaugh inspired this slutty song, has made it onto the general election ballot as a state senate candidate.
And how is YOUR week going?
A slow start or twist to your morning, suggested by the Moon still adrift in “love me do” Leo. That could be a beautiful thing, given a harmonious aspect between Venus and Neptune at 9:16AM ET. Have you been keeping track of your dreams?
As of 10:20AM ET, Moon gets into gear in earthy, discerning Virgo, an excellent placement for getting perfectly organized and refined. Not only that, but there’s an innovative connection between the Gemini Sun and techno-geek Uranus that’s in effect for the next few days — great for thinking outside of the box. So forge ahead today and tomorrow — and remember to BACK UP YOUR COMPUTERS NOW, given that Mercury will be retrograde as of 7:57AM ET Saturday until July 1st.
And now, the news.
I’m seeing plenty of headlines reflecting the beautiful ideal and/or escape suggested by the aforementioned aspect between Venus (women, art, money, beauty) and Neptune (faith, illusion, salvation, drugs). Here’s a story about a tattoo artist who helps women who have had a mastectomy recreate the illusion of a normal breast. Here’s a techno-geek story about one of America’s greatest illusions: Marilyn Monroe, who would have been 88 on Monday. Here’s a kaleidoscopic image of the universe — in colors never seen before — courtesy of the good folks who work with the Hubble Space Telescope. And speaking of kaleidoscopic bliss, Alexander Shulgin, known for creating over “200 psychedelic compounds,” including Ecstasy, passed away yesterday. No birth time available, but I’d bet fifty cents that his Taurus Moon is squared by Neptune in Leo.
Fascinating to note that Mr. Shulgin was 88 — which is the third time that number has come up in this forecast in three days. Here’s what 88 suggests, according to those who know something about Angel Numbers.
Meanwhile, Neptune also refers to music, so it makes sense to see a feature story on a prominent woman in music on the NYT home page. This would be Beyonce, who just happens to have Venus sextile Neptune in her natal chart — and that’s the aspect exact today. Interesting to see the word “vanishing” twice on today’s NYT homepage. That’s a very Neptunian word. Here’s story about a vanishing island in Louisiana. It’s vanishing because of rising sea levels (Neptune refers to water, oceans and toxins, too). The “vanishing” of recently-freed POW Bowe Bergdahl (before he was captured by the Taliban) is another headline with Neptunian themes, including salvation and bewilderment.
Finally, a few other items involving ginormous quantities of water. First, a companion story to the vanishing island is this hard-headed look at how Norfolk, Virginia is responding to the fact that 1) the land it sits on is sinking; and 2) oceans are rising. Equally fascinating is that Norfolk is the site of our largest military base, and that a recent vote by the House “Science” Committee would “prohibit defense spending on climate change research and the social cost of carbon analysis,” i.e., as the linked article notes, “the Pentagon is being ordered to ignore climate science.” Maybe no one on the House Science Committee has ever been to Norfolk…
…which leads me to the last fun fact of the day involving water — in the form of hurricanes. The headline was quite provocative: “Female-named Hurricanes Kill More Than Male Hurricanes Because People Don’t Respect Them, Study Finds”. Predictably, this story has sparked much debate and disbelief….to be continued at a water cooler near you.

East Coasters, make your important connections and innovative proposals early in the day, before the royal Leo Moon goes void at 10:42AM ET. You may experience — or notice in others — an ambitious reach (on the one hand) or witness a controlling authority raining on someone’s parade, courtesy of a challenge between the Moon and stern Saturn right on that void. After that…until 10:20AM ET on Wednesday, the Moon void suggests we stick to routine tasks, while keeping a sense of play about whatever weirdness or lack of focus occurs during this natural cosmic break in the action.
Perhaps your sense of play will have an artsy or musical spin to it — or something healing, charitable or spiritual. Whatever it is, it’s likely to reflect a need for a beautiful ideal, suggested by a cooperative connection between loving Venus (money, art, women, social expression) and soulful Neptune that will be exact Wednesday at 9:16AM. Can the stock markets get any higher? With these current patterns, yes they can.
