Astro-logical Forecast for Wednesday 1/23/2013: Void is the Woid

The chatty Gemini Moon goes void-of-course on an energetic, yet easy connection to action-oriented Mars at 6:42AM ET…not to enter the next sign (Cancer), until 10PM ET. Regular readers of this forecast know that when the Moon is void, efforts to move forward in a straight line are more likely to be plagued by twists, delays and other surprises. Crises that crop up during voids have an odd way of being “much ado about nothing”. If you can’t take advantage of this natural rest period to brainstorm, wander,do something of no consequence, take care of routine chores or work on a creative project, well…darn. Your strategy is practice patience and go with the flow…and — especially with the Moon in Gemini — to double check information and communication before you hit “send”.

As for the news, yesterday we were anticipating some technological breakthroughs, courtesy of stellar alignments among Jupiter, Uranus, Sun and Mercury, so here you go: 1) Peugeot introduces “a car that runs on air”; and 2) a “quadruple helix’ seen for the first time in human DNA, which may be useful in our understanding the nature of cancer. Let the record reflect that DNA was “discovered” 60 years ago, on the verge of the Uranus-Pluto conjunctions in Virgo, a perfect sign for understanding systems that enable the efficient function of our bodies. We are now in the midst of a series of Uranus-Pluto squares (the energy is like a First Quarter Moon, only between Uranus and Pluto instead of the Sun and the Moon); therefore, we can expect challenges and further developments on just about any revolutionary seed that was planted in the mid-1960s. Civil rights, women’s rights, organic farming, ecology (think Rachel Carson’s book, Silent Spring), nuclear energy…those sorts of things. This series of squares will continue through 2015…

Astro-logical Forecast for Tuesday 1/22/2013: Reach For The Stars

Big ideas and innovation — especially in technology and aero/outerspace. That’s what I’m thinking we’ll be seeing this week, thanks to a remarkably supportive alignment among the Sun (life force) and Mercury (communication, mindset) in humanitarian/technogeek Aquarius, expansive Jupiter in info-junkie Gemini and rebel Uranus in pioneering Aries. Jupiter-Uranus patterns are often experienced as lucky breaks or investment opportunities that turn out to be windfalls. They also suggest news from the cosmos, including astrology.

You are personally affected by this “breakthrough” pattern if you were born around the 26th of any month, of if you have a planet or an angle around 6 degrees of any sign, with a slight bonus to Aries, Leo, Sagittarius, Gemini, Libra and Aquarius.  The potential down side — and there is always that potential — might be grandiose or bombastic behavior, or wretched excess. Alternately, you could be feeling so good that you can’t be bothered to create new opportunities even though the wind may be at your back. Don’t let this happen to you!

Today’s Moon is in chatty Gemini, where it has been buzzing around since 9:04AM ET on Monday, just before President Obama was sworn in (again) at his second public presidential inauguration. He had to be feeling pretty good, as his Moon is also in Gemini, and transiting Jupiter (the cosmic sugar daddy), is closely aligned with that Moon…for now. Another sign of popularity and personal happiness is Obama’s progressed Sun currently conjunct his natal Venus, where it has been hovering for several months.  This was one of the patterns that led to my post in September opining that Obama would be elected to a second term, along with other astro-logical observations about Obama’s horoscope, which you can read here.

Make the most of this week — especially today.  We’ve got a Moon waxing in light — good for initiating projects. We have planetary patterns remarkably receptive to your big ideas for reinventing the wheel. Are there caveats? Sure. Get it off your desk today if you can — or wait until Thursday. Moon will be void-of-course from 6:42AM ET to 10PM ET on Wednesday — and again on Friday from 3:35PM ET until 9:20AM ET on Saturday. Also note that Thursday may have a little turbulence, notably from hard aspects to the Moon and from aggressive energy running a bit wild on behalf of some rebel cause.

Astro-logical Forecast for Friday 1/18/2013 & The Weekend: The Inauguration; Lance Armstrong

Seize the optimistic and pioneering potential of this day, which begins with an idealistic hook-up between mental Mercury and the Sun (life force) in practical Capricorn. The caveat with any day marked by idealism is, of course, that some may be driving with blinders on. On the plus side, that’s an effective way to stay focused, especially if you’re a horse pulling a carriage in Central Park. On the other hand, those blinders may cause you to miss a few details, some more glaring than others. Keep on making your pitch, and by the time we arrive at the First Quarter Moon at 6:45PM ET, you may see the first challenge to the New Moon agenda you set last week., which was something about “a general gracefully acknowledging defeat”. Why how very Lance Armstrong, eh? Coincidence or conspiracy? More on him in a minute.

At 7:40PM ET, Moon goes void of course for just under an hour, entering comfort-seeking Taurus at 8:36PM ET. Ooh, I just love a weekend with Moon in Taurus….so lovely for earthly pleasures: good food, wine, music and a massage or two. You can shop ’til you drop all day Saturday and on Sunday, but only until 1:16PM ET, when Moon goes void-of-course until Monday at 9:04AM ET. Take a nice long break & enjoy wherever your wanderings take you.

Saturday is notable for two planetary shifts: both the Sun and Mercury leave practical Capricorn and enter innovative, humanitarian, unique, cerebral and  often weirdly stubborn Aquarius. This is a sign that is rarely in the middle of anything; Aquarians are usually found on one fringe or the other. Usually thought of as a future-oriented sign, some of the most extreme conservatives have strong Aquarian elements in their horoscopes: Dick Cheney, Sarah Palin, Glenn Beck, Paul Ryan, NRA henchman Wayne LaPierre, Kim Jong-Il, Ayn Rand — just off the top of my head. And then on the other side, you have extremely progressive Aquarians Abraham Lincoln and Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Barack Obama has an Aquarian Ascendant, which is one reason he comes off as so detached and cerebral, yet definitely unique.

Speaking of Obama, Sunday marks the beginning of his second term. He’ll be sworn in at noon, as specified by our Constitution. And though he’ll be doing it all over again on Monday in a public ceremony, for me the swearing-in on Sunday is the one that sticks.  In the chart for noon in DC on the 20th, I am relieved to see the Moon NOT void of course in Taurus, suggesting that it may actually function effectively. In Taurus, this suggests a reigning need to preserve and maintain material security, to keep things as they are or as they should be.  But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t expect a battle, as the Moon is squared by aggressive Mars in Aquarius, suggesting heated and stubborn challenges from the rebel factions. This is likely to be a term of office noted for idealistic, expansive and innovative ideas. And yes, I do believe we’ll see the President operating more independently than in his last term, as the Moon is placed in the 1st house, suggesting, as astrologer Noel Tyl defines it, an entrepreneurial “do your own thing” approach.

How does this chart compare with chart for the start of the 113th Congress? Interestingly, in that chart the Virgo Moon IS void-of-course — and running wild! This suggests a concern with details, organization and discernment that runs away with the whole chart — and, given the void, is likely to be ineffective or at least of no consequence. Hmmm. Perhaps the President will have the upper hand. Also notable is nebulous Neptune running wild, suggesting that elements of vision, idealism, delusion, deception, spirits of all kinds and artistry will be all over this legislative body like a cheap suit. When NY Times columnist Maureen Dowd wrote about the first day of 113th Congress, she called it a “surreal world”. Yep. That’s Neptune running wild…

OK. Lance Armstrong, since several of you have asked. We don’t have a confirmed birth time for Armstrong, though I have seen two efforts to determine the time — one using computer software and the other calculated by hand. I do have a preference for which is likely correct,  but I haven’t done enough “chart crunching” to be completely sure.  Both charts propose a Sagittarius Ascendant, and this gambling, gamboling, often rough-around-the-edges fire sign works for me. Born on September 18th, 1971 in Plano Texas, Armstong has Sun and Moon in Virgo, and the Moon is running wild. This suggests a need for perfection driven to the max. The Moon rules the 8th house, suggesting a need to manage or help in the affairs of other people; it’s one indication that he could be effective in philanthropy, which in fact, he is.  One very interesting aspect in the horoscope — regardless of his birth time is the same witchy-bitchy hook-up  between Venus and Pluto we have been talking about all week — and which was exact on Wednesday. This pattern — suggesting intensity, emotional overkill and potential ruthlessness in social expression demands prominence in Armstrong’s chart (it’s at the Aries Point, for tech-savvy astrology buffs reading this). Venus and Pluto are both conjunct the Virgo Sun, suggesting a certain level of suppression, likely anger, that would be an immediate topic of discussion in a consultation. Can this horoscope be destroyed all the way to hell and be rebuilt all the way to heaven? Yea verily, the potential for regeneration and empowerment is great.

So what about all these drugs and deception? Now if you’ve been reading this forecast for some time, you know the answer: Neptune! Yes, nebulous Neptune is exactly conjunct expansive Jupiter at 0 degrees of Sagittarius. This is a strong statement of a need for faith; here, expansive Jupiter likely rules the Sagittarius Ascendant, which is all about self-image. Armstrong needs to believe he is “all that” — it makes sense he would be driven to perfection about projecting this holier than thou image to the world. And it makes sense that the world believes the illusion…until it doesn’t. Astrology buffs will immediately note that transiting Neptune is exactly square Lance’s Jupiter-Neptune conjunction, suggesting all Neptunian concerns are up — big time — including, but not limited to — redemption and  “tricky legalisms”.

In the forecast posted on January 4th, we were talking about the Grand Trine in Air Signs, suggesting — again citing my mentor, Noel Tyl — an intellectual elitism, a defensive posture and acting as if one is a law unto oneself. And surprise, surprise — Armstrong has this placement among Mars, Uranus and Saturn. Right now Jupiter, which likely rules his Ascendant, is exactly conjunct Saturn, suggesting a need to break free of patterns that have restricted his movement. Armstrong apparently wants to start competing again, but he has been banned from competition. So it is very interesting to see him working to do whatever he has to do to break free of those restrictions.

OK, time to ship this forecast, as I have consultations to prepare. When are you going to book yours? It’s sure to be profound…and fun!

Have a great holiday weekend.

Astro-logical Forecast for Thursday 1/17/2013: Gut Instincts

An over-the-top or otherwise self-indulgent power play or catharsis may grace the headlines this morning, courtesy of the feisty Aries Moon clashing with ruthless Pluto (power) and Venus (indulgence) in Capricorn (the Established Order). Otherwise, I can’t find much to complain about. This is a great day for practical, no-nonsense communication and structuring artistic/creative projects. The me-me-me Aries Moon can learn to play nice for the good of the team, courtesy of a cooperative connection from Mars in humanitarian Aquarius. Make the most of the proactive thrust of the next couple of days.

Meanwhile in the news, it’s guns, guns, guns —  everywhere you look in the US papers — with President Obama vowing to “put everything I’ve got into gun control”. A noble cause, Mr. President — go for it — but gosh I hope you save some of your mojo for a few other pressing issues we need to address in these wild and crazy planetary times, y’know?

As anticipated, yesterday’s ruthless Venus-Pluto hook-up was reflected in some down and dirty moves, including this especially down and dirty one pulled by the NRA. And just who IS the NRA, anyway? Not George H.W. Bush, whose letter of resignation made headlines some years ago. Leave it to Mother Jones to dig up the dirt in an exclusive published yesterday.

Speaking of down and dirty, here’s a piece on an effective treatment for intestinal infections some may find shocking. But didn’t I tell you yesterday we’d see a shock or two to accompany the ruthlessness of the Venus-Pluto conjunction?*** And you gotta admit, this treatment is so Capricorn — earthy and proactive — with a hint of Saturn in Scorpio (decay, regeneration).  Which is a perfect opportunity to mention the exciting world of probiotics, simply as a public service. Worth exploring if you’re having issues with digestion, as so many people are. Here’s Dr. Mark Hyman to tell you all about it. You can read his article while waiting for Lance Armstrong to spill his guts on Oprah tonight….

***After this forecast was sent out via email, a story crossed the wires about the first death row inmate to be executed in the U.S. this year. Robert Gleason, Jr. was electrocuted — about half an hour after the Venus-Pluto and Uranus-Moon conjunctions on Monday evening — at 9:08PM ET in Jarratt, VA. Ruthless and shocking, indeed.

Astro-logical Forecast for Wednesday 1/16/2013: A Day of Dynamic Action

Moon goes void at 4:32AM ET, not to enter the next sign Aries, until 11:07AMET. What twist, flake or other unexpected detour will spice up your usual morning routine? Go with the flow and don’t stress out….even if you overslept and are late for a meeting. It is not the big crisis you think it is. Seriously!

After the void, the day really gets into gear. That’s the time to initiate the contacts required to get your New Moon agenda off the ground. Aries energy is pioneering, impulsive and often in a hurry. Aries people fall down stairs because it’s faster than walking, but who cares so long as they get there first? Just be advised that Aries is not known for its patience or its emotional maturity, especially on a day with an exact hook-up between Venus (social expression) and ruthless Pluto. Add a rebellious hook-up between the feisty Aries Moon and rebel Uranus to the mix, and you’re looking at the potential for shocks, upsets, revelations and/or guttersniping. Remember this, especially around 8:30PM ET, lest ye go off like a rocket. Don’t throw the baby out with the bath water. And don’t use a sledgehammer when a flyswatter will suffice.

Other than those caveats, today and tonight could be a lot of fun on the social front. If the opportunity presents itself, why not mingle?

Astro-logical Forecast for Tuesday 1/15/2013: A Day of Uncompromising Vision

Another day driven by dreams, intuition and vision — what forms will they take? Moon is in soulful Pisces, pushed along by a supportive connection from disciplined Saturn, thus offering structure for said forms. How excellent for your New Moon agenda/to-do list.  Mars — which refers to the energy for taking action — is running wild in Aquarius, aiding and abetting all rebels with a cause. Mars also refers to firearms — watch the headlines. We’ll likely see some bold moves that may border on the downright aggressive, especially with the tension building between Venus (money, women, social expression, arts) and ruthless Pluto (transformation, power).

Neptune — which refers to vision, sacrifice, healing, spirits of all kinds, drugs, illusion and delusion — is running wild in Pisces, the sign it rules. Neptune also refers to redemption. Sounds like the perfect planetary patterns for Lance Armstrong to finally ‘fess up about his doping use…and apparently he is not going down alone, according to reports about an interview taped with Oprah yesterday (Monday).

In your own personal world, keep moving forward and curb any impulse to react to provocation with a witchy-bitchy attitude, lest it come back to haunt you. Sure, others around you may be a bit snippy, but they are not aware of planetary patterns. Put your special knowledge to good use.

Astro-logical Forecast for Monday 1/14/2013: Sneak Peek at the Week

After last week’s frustrating (for many) clash between aggressive Mars and Saturn, a.k.a. your friendly neighborhood brick wall, it’s a pleasure to report a week of planetary patterns that are much lighter in comparison. We’ve got practical New Moon energy to launch new projects. We have only one lengthy void-of-course Moon to throw a twist into our efforts to move forward in a straight line. That’s on Wednesday between 4:32AM and 11:07AM ET — barely an issue during business hours in the US.  Welcome to the first week of 2013 that actually feels like a New Year!

Wednesday is when we’ll experience the most potentially challenging pattern of the week: an intense hook-up between Venus (money, women, social expression, aesthetics) and ruthless, transformational Pluto. On the plus side, you may have an especially juicy intimate encounter, notable for its emotional depth and empowerment. On the down side, you may experience “emotional overkill” in a sudden, disruptive confrontation that is way more destructive than necessary. That potential is especially high around 8:30PM ET  Wednesday, but we may feel the tension building over the next few days.

Today (Monday) the Moon is in soulful Pisces, augmented by a dreamy connection to nebulous Neptune (exact at 8:20AM). How wonderful for artists, healers and other types who are fueled by inspiration. As the day progresses, optimism rises, courtesy of a buoyant challenge to Moon from Jupiter, softened by a cooperative connection from loving Venus…and that carries us into the evening.

And now, a few headlines from last week that perfectly reflected the status quo-disrupting square between Venus and rebel Uranus. First, from my Facebook feed: a fashion designer in China has a most unconventional model for her line of hipster women’s clothing — her 72-year-old grandfather. Second, a clip of transgender Matrix director Lana (nee Larry) Wachowski talking about her childhood at awards gala. While both of these stories were posted last fall, the fact that they showed up on my Facebook feed within minutes of my writing about the prominence  of this particular Venus-Uranus square in early Capricorn is no coincidence.

Meanwhile, in the fashion (Venus) section of the New York Times,  there was an article about a new generation seeking a radical “upending of gender roles beyond the binary of male/female“. A link to a clip of the utterly charming and thoughtful Stephen Ira talking about his transformation (he was born Kathlyn Bening Beatty) reflects the suggestion of prominence in unconventional social expression (with a pedigree!) we would see with Venus-Uranus square. As the first-born child of Warren Beatty and Annette Bening, a birth time was announced in the papers, so we have a horoscope to study, and it takes about five seconds to spot the astro-logical suggestions that gender identity concerns could be an issue in this horoscope. First, Sun (ego identity) in the 12th house conjunct unconventional Uranus and nebulous Neptune. Second, an unaspected Saturn in the 1st house (personal projection/identity) ruling the 1st house suggests father/control issues running wild. Third, rebel Uranus in hard aspect to the lunar node suggests that the influence of the feminine/maternal might interfere with statements of identity (!!). The Moon is in Aquarius, in the 1st house, ruling the 7th and 6th, suggesting a need to be unique, socially significant and entrepreneurial, especially in areas related to the body, the body politic and the public.  Themes of public empowerment and transformation are suggested, courtesy of Pluto in the 10th, also running wild. There is a strong need for prominent communication and opinionation suggested by energetic Mars and mental Mercury together in “tell-the-world” Sagittarius, so the world will no doubt be hearing more from this brilliant, empowered humanitarian.

Last but not least, who watched the Golden Globes or any of the many football matches on Sunday? Did you notice any surprises or upsets? The Moon was void-of-course all day in unconventional, humanitarian Aquarius, so we could expect underdogs to be favored and actions not going quite as expected. A surprise win certainly happened for the Atlanta Falcons…and there was some other match that went into overtime and ended with a twist — I don’t remember which teams were involved. Ben Affleck was a surprise win for Best Director and “Argo” was a shock for Best Picture, though arguably not undeservedly.  And then there was Jodie Foster’s surprising acceptance speech, apparently addressing a topic we’d expect to hear about under the influence of the Venus-Uranus square…

Astro-logical Forecast for Sunday 1/13/2013: A Day of Rest

Moon is void-of-course as of 3:37AM ET, not to enter the next sign (Pisces) until 5:49AM ET on Monday. Enjoy this natural rest period, as well as whatever twists come up in your wanderings today. Go with the flow.

Astro-logical Forecast for Friday 1/11/13: New Moon in Capricorn

The New Moon in Capricorn officially begins at 2:44PM ET, offering us an opportunity to re-set  intentions and goals for the next lunar cycle. Next week will be about planting seeds to turn your intentions into reality. Around the 18th, on the First Quarter Moon, we can expect a challenge to those goals, with appropriate adjustments made. At the time of the Full Moon on the 26th, we can expect illumination on the success or failure of our goals for the cycle. If we succeeded, we can consciously release our success into our reality; if we failed, we let go of whatever did not work. After the Third Quarter Moon on February 3rd, we can review our achievements (or lack thereof), tie up loose ends and get ready to begin another New Moon on February 10th.  This concludes a very brief 411 on the lunar cycle and how you can make it work for you. You are most welcome, and a tip jar will be passed around at the end of this forecast.

A New Moon in Capricorn suggests an opportunity to make things happen. Capricorn is an extremely enterprising, social-climbing energy which means business like no other sign in the zodiac. Capricorn knows how to use resources (including people) to get what it needs, which is to move things forward. What are you intending to move forward during this cycle?

This New Moon energy suggests a spark of inspiration that aims to be practical, yet is also idealistic in a big, attention-getting way. I say this because in the chart for the New Moon, mental Mercury (ideas) is linked with Sun and Moon, but none of those three planets are connected any other planets in the chart. They are isolated — which suggests to me that certainly in headlines, we are likely to see a number of fabulous ideas proposed that are challenging to integrate. Maybe they’re too just big to be fully accomplished at this time. And my hunch here would seem to be supported by the Sabian Symbol for this New Moon, which is “a general accepting defeat gracefully.”

For those who are curious, here’s an explanation of the origin of the Sabian Symbols. If you are not conversant in the language of astrology, just accept the premise that in a New Moon chart, the Sabian Symbol for the degree of the New Moon often sets the agenda for the whole cycle. I see this a lot in the headlines.  For example, I had a feeling of foreboding when I wrote the New Moon forecast posted on July 19th, 2012, because the Sabian Symbol was “a violent storm in a canyon filled with expensive homes”. Not only that, but aggressive Mars was in a volatile aspect with ruthless Pluto and shocking Uranus, suggesting an explosive event would disrupt the status quo. And just after midnight on July 20th, the Aurora shooting occurred — and dominated the headlines for the whole month. Coincidence or conspiracy?

OK. So. “A general accepting defeat gracefully”. How do we apply this in real life? What can we expect? First, a strong suggestion of the old saying, “it’s not whether you win or lose, it’s how you play the game”. Integrity, honor, reputation will be key to success, regardless of the outcome of the quest. Even if the quest fails, you will be considered successful if you act with integrity and are wise enough to know when you must surrender to a higher power. Sabian Symbol guru Blain Bovee observes that “a general symbolically acknowledges defeat by surrendering his sword…relinquishing all intention of directing an attack; disarming conflict”. Look for these themes in the headlines and in your own personal world. One way I see this manifesting will be in the debate around gun control in United States, which is getting especially heated now that action is being threatened….

One other strong pattern in the New Moon chart is Venus (referring to women, social expression, aesthetics, finance) in a challenging pattern with the ongoing Uranus-Pluto square. We experienced this pattern last year during the weeks of August 13th and October 29th — — read the posts for those weeks for a recap of expectations and actual news events.  In a nutshell, this pattern suggests sudden attractions and alliances with unusual partners; unconventional social expression and sexual orientation; social expression that is intense, witchy-bitchy, and/or emotionally cathartic. In your own personal world during this lunar cycle — and especially over the next week — be open to connections and communication with others that break old established patterns and/or clear the air. You are especially affected by this Venus-Pluto-Uranus tension if you were born between the 24th and 31st of December, March, June and September…or if you have a planet between 4 and 10 degrees of Aries, Cancer, Libra or Capricorn.

I will write another post later for the rest of the weekend and a recap of recent news I simply must point out as being perfectly in synch with planetary patterns. For now, the Moon goes void of course at 2:44PM ET, not to enter Aquarius until 4:01AM ET on Saturday. Chill, baby, chill….and contemplate how you can be that disarmingly graceful general who is setting the tone for this New Moon. For helpful hints, you might pick up a copy of The Four Agreements, whose simple rules could ensure you never, ever fail:

1. Be impeccable with your word.

2. Don’t take anything personally.

3. Don’t make assumptions.

4. Always do your best.

Oh — and that tip jar? It’s the big, gold button on the left hand side of this Daily Forecast page.  There’s also a link to it at the bottom of this email, if you happen to be one of my email subscribers. Your donations are so much appreciated, and keep me inspired even on days when my mind (and computer screen) is blank. Thank you for reading — and sharing — this forecast. I mean that from the bottom of my heart.

To be continued…

Astro-logical Forecast for Thursday 1/10/2013: Practical Magic

Waking up feeling inspired this morning (for those reading this in the U.S.)? Rose-colored connections from Venus and Moon in “make it happen” Capricorn to transcendental Neptune may stimulate creative and social expression in ways that are both practical and divine.

This is another morning to take note of your dreams. I suggest this because of the overnight hookup between Neptune (which rules dreams) and the Moon. You’ll have to test this theory to see if it’s true for you,  but Moon-Neptune connections often stimulate intuition and imagination. And if you’re sleeping through these transits, sublime insights may be transmitted in your dream state. Consider keeping a journal of your dreams. Watch for repeating patterns or creative solutions to a problem that’s been on your mind. What is your subconscious trying to tell you?  Consider getting a good reference book, too. A few months ago I picked up The Dream Dictionary from A to Z by Theresa Cheung — only $4.99 on the Barnes & Noble bargain rack. Such a deal!  With gratitude to the reader in Austin, Texas who wanted to know, “after I note my dreams, what should I do with them?” P.S — consider making some of those dreams come true in real-life, too.

Meanwhile, Venus (referring to women, money, aesthetics and manners) entered Capricorn late Tuesday night (ET), demanding decorum and a pedigree in these areas. Venus in Capricorn knows exactly how to use its connections to climb up a ladder (preferably corporate), and over the next few weeks, so should you. However,  Venus is currently being challenged by rebel Uranus (exact on Saturday), which makes the first week of this Venus in Capricorn more exciting than usual. Over the next few days you may find yourself mingling with all kinds of unconventional, yet credentialed types who instantly become your new best friend. These “sudden attractions” are typical under Venus-Uranus transits, when an open-minded, humanitarian, freedom-loving buzz permeates the air. And that buzz is the backdrop for this morning’s announcement of this year’s Oscar nominees. Coincidence or conspiracy?

It all goes swimmingly until around noon on the East Coast, when Moon is challenged by a square to that rebel Uranus. What flash of insight, declaration of independence or other disruption of the status quo will land on your plate? Deal matter-of-factly with whatever structural constraints and power plays crop up by the end of the day, though the temptation for emotional outbursts may be strong. This is a good time to be wrapping up old business and drafting your intentions for the next lunar cycle, which has much less planetary static than the last one.

The New Moon begins Friday at 2:44PM ET at 21 degrees of Capricorn and immediately goes void-of-course. Wrap up the week and skip out early, if you can. We’ll talk about the New Moon in tomorrow’s forecast…even though there’s still so much I want to tell you about all things astro-logical.  Like…how the planetary patterns in Lincoln’s time are similar to patterns we’re experiencing today; how so many of the “matters of life and death” headlines we’ve been seeing lately are so very Saturn in Scorpio; why the event chart for that out-of-the-blue ferry accident that happened  in Manhattan during yesterday’s void-of-course Moon is what you’d expect to see in a bewildering accident on the water; and what to do with all those gift cards you will never use (you can get cash for them — what perfect news to hit the wires the day after  Venus enters Capricorn)….it just goes on and on. I need a radio show, so I can talk for an hour, preferably with other fascinating guests and callers. Wouldn’t that be fun? Gotta make that happen this year…who knows someone who can help make that happen? Get in touch with me, will ya?
