Astro-logical Forecast for Sunday & Monday 2/19-20/2012: Sneak Peek at the New Moon; A Nun’s Story

Networking, friendships, being of social significance, space cadets, a cerebral/scientific approach to emotions, freedom and independence — look for these themes to pull focus for the next two and a half days. Moon enters the humanitarian sign of Aquarius at 5:28AM ET, old buddy, old pal. Deal with whatever wet blanket or serious focus that may be required around 4:22AM ET, when Moon is challenged by Saturn (I’ll deal with this one in my dreams, and you can, too).

We are in the dark side of the Moon; the New Moon in Pisces is at 5:35PM ET on Tuesday.  That’s the time to light a candle and focus on your intentions for the next lunar cycle. Meanwhile, if you’re a meditative soul — or even if you’re not — take some time to tune in before Tuesday. What does your intuition tell you? A big clue to the theme of New Moon in Pisces is the Sun’s annual hook-up with nebulous Neptune — also in Pisces —  at 3:42PM ET on Sunday, combined with an  indulgent challenge to the Moon from expansive Jupiter. Note these keywords: soulful surrender, meditate, yoga, escape, intuition, fantasy, drugs, alcohol, go with the flow, bewilderment, illusion, deception, delusion, photography, film, higher realms, oil, oceans, sacrifice, empathy. It all spills over into Monday, too — sweetened by a connection between loving Venus and the Moon at 7:28AM ET that can carry you through the whole day.

Signs of nebulous Neptune on the NY Times homepage include an op-ed about drinking and drugging http://www.nytimes.com/2012/02/19/opinion/sunday/bruni-whitney-houston-and-alcohols-toll.html?hp rising oil and gas prices, the “parade of stars and fans” paying tribute to Whitney Houston; and a gem of a column by Maureen Dowd about a former Hollywood starlet who became a nun — and who will be attending the Oscars next weekend because a documentary about her called “God Is Bigger Than Elvis” has been nominated. Talk about a Sun conjunct Neptune in Pisces story! Read how Dolores Hart left Hollywood for the cloister here http://www.nytimes.com/2012/02/19/opinion/sunday/dowd-where-the-boys-arent.html?hp  and here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dolores_Hart

Since we looked at Cardinal Timothy Dolan’s horoscope in the last post, I thought it would be interesting to look (briefly)  at the horoscope of this former starlet-turned-nun. Will we see similar patterns?

Dolores Hart was born October 20, 1938 (time unknown) in Chicago, IL  She’s a Libra with Moon in Virgo, suggesting a need to be discerning, exacting and perfecting. Like Cardinal Dolan, there is a connection between Jupiter and Neptune — a reliable signal of the importance of spirit. The Jupiter-Neptune connection is not as big and bold as the pattern in Cardinal Dolan’s chart, but it’s definitely there; and Neptune is still very strong in other ways. Charisma — and the potential for glamour is suggested by a hook-up between Neptune and Mars; it’s likely that Neptune is also involved with the Virgo Moon, which adds idealism and the intangible to that need to be discerning, exacting and perfecting. Also of note: Saturn, suggesting discipline, patriarchy, authority, control, structure, ambition — making a strong statement about a potential obsession with the father…which perhaps evolved into the Father…or perhaps the Mother Superior. Hmmmmmm…. Also found in Dolan’s chart and Hart’s: strong connections between the Sun and expansive, sunny, philosophical Jupiter and resourceful, empowering Pluto. Let the record show that Hart is in fact the Reverend Mother Dolores Hart and Prioress of the Abbey (since 2001) where she resides. And as Maureen Dowd and Wikipedia both note, the Reverend Mother remains a voting member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Powerful!

Astro-logical Forecast for Wednesday 1/25/2012: Basking in the Afterglow, Except for Mitt

Note your dreams this AM for signs of a lingering rosy afterglow, suggesting by a sublime connection between nebulous Neptune and the Moon. Enthusiasm for making some of those dreams come true shows up at 7:47AM ET, when jolly Jupiter aligns with the Moon, which entered soulful Pisces at 4:11AM (shortly after that hook-up with Neptune).

Dreams, glamor, empathy, spirit — what else will drive a day when Pisces craves a connection with intangibles? Not to mention oil, fish, drugs and the sea (watch the headlines). Go with the flow…and note the revelations that may turn up toward 7:30PM ET, when Moon connects with Pluto, bringing whatever is hidden into the light.

And speaking of dreams, who was that man at the podium on Capitol Hill last night? http://www.nytimes.com/2012/01/25/us/politics/state-of-the-union-2012.html?hp A feisty State of the Union speech indeed – and so thrilling to witness, given yesterday’s astro-logical forecast. So many initiatives presented — and yet with Mars retrograde (darn it), I regret to say the chances of them materializing in the near future are not promising. But perhaps there will be some who heard the call and will begin to plan a strategy for execution at a later date…

Looking at yesterday’s patterns — with Venus (money) and Pluto (resources, empowerment, news from underground) running wild — I wondered how that might manifest in the headlines. Other than Apple posting stellar earnings at the end of the day and tomorrow’s Fed decision, another story really driving news was Mitt Romney’s tax returns http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/01/24/inside-the-romney-tax-returns/ Really not a good day for Romney, a Pisces born March 12, 1947 at 9:51AM in Detroit, MI.

For months, Romney has been lost in a cloud, suggested by a loooong challenge to his Moon in “knowledge is power” Scorpio by nebulous Neptune. His Jupiter in “I must have a mission” Scorpio is also affected — suggesting, perhaps, an overblown sense of what the mission might be — or a huge leap of faith. This Neptune-Moon connection also suggests a big blur and/or befuddlement around communication — and a certain amount of anxiety about popularity — odd for a horoscope that otherwise suggests a natural inclination to reach out to the public. It dampens the fires of ambition…and the ambiguity will likely continue as Neptune challenges Romney’s Gemini Ascendent (identity crisis?). This has to be hard to deal with, given other measurements in the chart that suggests the need to be known for having a strong sense of purpose. Note that Rick Perry just went through a Neptune challenge to his Ascendant (yes, that’s what all the confusion was likely about), and Barack Obama was having a Neptune challenge to his Midheaven (public status, authority) early last year (that influence has since left the building — in case you hadn’t noticed).

Astro-logical Forecast for Monday 7/18/2011: Casey Anthony

The best thing I can say about today is that it offers exceptional creative potential. Moon moves into dreamy Pisces at  1:13AM ET and hooks up with nebulous — and yet often visionary — Neptune shortly thereafter. Note where your dreams take you. There could be a fine line between visionary and fantasy/delusion today, suggested by an obsessive connection between Mercury (mind, communication) and Neptune. What did they know and when did they know it — and how long will they deny it until the truth finally comes out? Or…how long will they cling to belief in a fairy tale, until reality smacks them out of their rose-colored confection?

Meanwhile another obsessive connection — between ruthless Pluto and aggressive Mars — suggests the potential for power plays, overt force (and force of will) and perhaps an explosion or two. That’s great for the planet and your own personal world if you’re wearing a white hat; perhaps not so great (for the rest of us) if you’re up to no good. Planetary patterns suggest potential resources; humans decide what to do with them.

Sun (life force) and Venus (social expression) are both in emotional/material security-needing Cancer. Mars (energy applied) is in multi-tasking, cerebral Gemini. Saturn (necessary controls) is in striving-to-be fair and balanced Libra. All four planets are “running wild” today, competing for and demanding attention. Ruthless Pluto and disruptive Uranus are squaring off, determined to tear down a facade or institution somewhere (look no further than today’s headlines — and remember that this aspect is in effect for the next few years).  And yet…today’s Moon in soulful Pisces suggests a need for sensitivity and empathy, augmented by deep insight and enthusiasm. And Pisces is very adaptable — and in fact most humans are adaptable, which is why Los Angeles didn’t fall apart during  the dreaded “Carmaggeddon” over the weekend. Which makes a strong case for not freaking out too much over the changes happening now and in the near future. Which brings me back to the exceptional creative potential suggested by today’s planetary patterns. The only natural break (in the form of a Moon void) comes this Wednesday AM on the East Coast and Friday PM on the West Coast. Arise, go forth and be creative — and of consequence.

Meanwhile, how about that “surprise upset” in yesterday’s Women’s World Cup between the US and Japan http://www.nytimes.com/2011/07/18/sports/soccer/japan-battles-back-to-win-womens-world-cup.html?_r=1&hp  And the Moon was void of course all day, which generally favors the underdog. Coincidence or conspiracy?

Last but not least, a reader asked for commentary on Casey Anthony’s horoscope. Birth data: March 19, 1986 in Warren, OH time (unconfirmed source) 3:10PM.  Sun in Pisces, Moon in Cancer. I did not closely follow this case, so can’t comment on the time line of events or other details. But even without an exact birth time, one thing that strikes me about this horoscope is the strong potential for prominence/fame. Specifically, this horoscope is likely to be known for idealism (vision or fantasy/delusion), charisma (seductive glamor, personal magnetism or a web of deception), creativity and/or sensitivity or a high self-regard.

Astro-logical Forecast for Thursday 4/14/2011

Moon enters the discriminating sign of Virgo at 2:40AM EDT, suggesting two days of especially perfect Mercury retrograde energy. Making things perfect, precise and correct is what Virgo loves to do.  Mercury retrograde suggests we REview, REpair and REorganize. REvise. Use the Moon-Mercury combo to get it right!

Whatever you choose to do today, it may have a more sensitive, intuitive or artistic flair. Why? Moon makes a connection to nebulous Neptune in the early AM (note your dreams), and Venus, planet of social expression, art, beauty and money, is running wild in the ethereal sign of Pisces. Organization turned into an art form? Why not? Enjoy the relative calm in planetary activity; there will be plenty of activity to write about over the weekend.

Astro-logical Forecast for Monday 9/20/2010

9:09AM NY/6:09 AM LA starts off with a meet-up between  nebulous Neptune and the Moon (our reigning need), which then goes void until 4:15PM NY/ 1:15PM. Take note of your dreams. A morning meditation could be transporting — as could other forms of connected bliss. If you have trouble getting out of bed (especially on the West Coast) and otherwise dealing with reality, know that others may be having similar experiences — the “flake factor” is high during these periods — so be patient  and flexible — especially with scheduled meetings and set agendas. Doublecheck your calendar and confirm your appointments. If you’re an artist relying on inspiration for a living, today is a good day for brainstorming. For more details on Moon Voids, please see the bonus forecast posted after 8/4/2010 — if you haven’t read it already.

After the Void, Moon will be in watery Pisces, a sign which needs, to quote my teacher, “to identify the ideal, understand impressions and work with the intangible”. Sounds like the afternoon and evening will bring more of the same texture as the morning, only with a mindset and intention that’s actually in gear.
