Monday 1/21/2019: Sneak Peek at a Short Work Week; Full Moon/Eclipse in Leo & Much More

Happy post – Super Full Blood Wolf Blitzer Moon and Total Lunar Eclipse in Leo! Did everyone see the big red ball in the sky last night? Here are pix, in case you missed it. The eclipse was exact at 12:16 AM ET this morning. When set in Washington, D.C., it looked like this:

A Leo Moon facilitates a sense of play, creativity and self-expression. Let the drama queens reign, for better or for worse. For better, throw a party and help others shine. For worse, throw your weight around like a spoiled would-be king.  What drives a Moon in Leo is the need for love and adoration; flattery is your coping strategy if you need to tame a roarin’ lion.

Last night’s eclipse was at 0 degrees of Leo, opposing the Sun at 0 degrees of Aquarius. The Sun left Capricorn for Aquarius on Sunday at 4 AM ET, and if yesterday or today is your birthday, my money says you’re in for a groundbreaking year. Have you checked in with your astrologer lately?

Aquarius is an airy, mental energy, primed for organizing ideas into a fixed form.   Keywords for Aquarius include innovation, eccentricity, friendship, humanitarian, unconventional, rocket scientist and/or mad genius. If you were born with the Sun in Aquarius, you have the energy to innovate and intellectualize with others. If your Moon is in Aquarius, you need to be socially significant — and dare I say appreciated for it. You probably need to be unusual, too.

When a Leo Moon opposes an Aquarius Sun, we see the potential for illumination and release regarding two conflicting drives: 1) the Leo Moon’s need for personal expression and recognition and 2) the Aquarius Sun’s energy to build a functional group dynamic. Famous people born with Moon in Leo and Sun in Aquarius include Omarosa, Paris Hilton, Zsa Zsa Gabor and Sonny Bono. See any similarities?

A lunar eclipse facilitates a release or illumination on a matter that arguably needs to be brought to a close. That release or illumination may not happen immediately. What often happens is that the release is triggered when another planet connects with the degree of the eclipse, which in this case is 0 degrees of Leo and Aquarius — and arguably 0 degrees of Taurus and Scorpio. Will any planet make that connection in the near future? Yes. Mercury will be at 0 Aquarius on January 24th; Mars will be at 0 Taurus on February 14th; Venus will be at 0 Aquarius on March 1st; Uranus will be at 0 Taurus on March 6th. If you have planets around 0 degrees of Taurus, Leo, Aquarius and Scorpio, write those dates down. Everyone else can watch the headlines, especially for news involving these entities born with planets around 0 Aquarius. Kellyanne Conway, Nikki Haley, Bill Maher and the inauguration of The Donald are examples.

The chart for this Full Moon set in Washington is striking. The Leo Moon is exactly at the top of the horoscope, opposing the Aquarius Sun at the bottom. Chart ruler Venus has just separated from a challenging square with Neptune (a visionary feminine healer? a bewildering aesthetic? a monetary scandal?). Venus will next meet up with a high-functioning Jupiter (a.k.a. the cosmic sugar daddy), in the area of the chart related to money and values. Can we all get paid now, please? Perhaps, but first we have to live through the militant stand-off of macho Mars in Aries squaring patriarchal Saturn in Capricorn, which was exact today at 6:16 AM ET.

After the Mars-Saturn stalemate, the expansiveness of the Venus-Jupiter meet-up on TUESDAY at 7:26 AM ET brings relief. If you have a planet around 16 degrees of Aries, Leo, Pisces, Gemini, Virgo, Aquarius, Libra  — and especially Sagittarius — buy a few lottery tickets.  A stroke of luck and/or optimism is aided and abetted by innovative communication and ideas, suggested by WEDNESDAY’s square between Mercury and Uranus, exact at 6:13 AM ET.

At 12:50 AM ET on THURSDAY, Mercury enters Aquarius, activating today’s lunar eclipse. As Mercury will conjoin the 0 Aquarius Sun in the horoscope for The Donald’s inauguration, we see an opportunity for significant communication. A high-functioning harmony between Mars (in Aries) and Jupiter (in Sagittarius) adds a rush of expansive energy to the mix, exact on FRIDAY at 12:53 PM ET.

Bottom line: the planetary patterns in this eclipse chart suggest a big release this week — and when the eclipse is triggered on the dates noted previously. That it falls right on the Sun of The Donald’s inauguration chart is verrrry interesting, one way or the other.

To recap the notable planetary patterns for the week:

  • MONDAY (today): big fat total eclipse in Leo — maybe a total eclipse of the heart, as Leo rules the heart…hmmmmm. Mars in Aries square Saturn in Capricorn: militant stalemate, personally affecting people with planets around 13 degrees of Aries, Libra, Cancer and Capricorn
  • TUESDAY: potentially joyful, as Venus meets up with Jupiter in Sagittarius at 7:26 AM ET. Sagittarius refers to: foreigners, travel, media, opinions, courts, universities, liver, pancreas, horses. The Leo Moon goes void at 8:19 PM ET. Moon enters Virgo to clean up the confetti and get everything organized at 10:22 PM ET.
  • WEDNESDAY: Mercury squares Uranus at 6:13 AM ET. Watch for groundbreaking, innovative and/or disruptive news involving aviation, technology, gender benders.
  • THURSDAY: Virgo Moon is void between 8:50 AM ET and 11:02 PM ET — that’s allllll day, folks. Roll with the twists and flakes. Don’t make a mountain out of a molehill. Stick to routine and trust that the details will be sorted out once the Moon enters the next sign, which is Libra. Chill!
  • FRIDAY: Libra Moon seeks balance and harmony, big time. Mars trines (harmonizes) Jupiter at 12:53 PM ET. What could spoil this party? Moon squares Saturn at 11:10 PM ET, possibly throwing a wet blanket on the newsfeed.

Before I get to the news, please note that new rates for consultations and reports are now posted. After four years of holding steady, I deserved a raise. However, to show my appreciation for cherished Avid Readers and clients who consistently support my work, if you book a consultation in 2019, and  1) it’s been less than a year since your last consultation; OR 2) you referred a client to me in 2018,  I will be pleased to offer you last year’s rate. Clear?

And now, the news.

The weekend was driven by a Moon in Cancer, needing emotional, family and homeland security. Add in the Venus-Neptune square (idealism with a possible feminine, musical, healing, spiritual or delusional vision),  and the militant stalemate of the Mars-Saturn square (“get off my lawn!”)…AND the rising emotional tide of the Full Moon. Sure, we can now see how competing marches on Washington, i.e., the Women’s March, the March for Life and the Indigenous Peoples’ March could result in this image dominating the news:

That’s Kentucky resident and Catholic schoolboy Nick Sandmann in the MAGA hat, balefully staring down Vietnam veteran and tribal elder Nathan Phillips, who is chanting tribal chants. Under the foggy Venus-Neptune spell, circumstances of the encounter weren’t quite clear, and other parties were involved. With Venus square Neptune now in the rear view mirror, WaPo offers this illumination.

We could also see the tension of these two squares, coupled with last week’s provocative patterns, in a new commercial from Gillette tackling “toxic masculinity”  An SNL parody of the Gillette ad is just as provocative and on point, but with the quirky humor of this week’s Mercury-Uranus square, if you ask me.

Meanwhile, a strategic approach in romance, with no small amount of idealism and deception can be found here: “You Matched With Someone Great Online, or Her Ghostwriter.”

In other news, the  potential “militant stalemate” and bewildering judgment of planetary patterns could arguably be seen in both the NFC and AFC championship games. The LA Rams trounced the New Orleans Saints, but only after one of the worst no-calls in football history, say the experts. Looks like that call may have happened around 5 PM in New Orleans, but I can’t find a record of the time online. Meanwhile, the Patriots are heading to the Superbowl again…but they had to go into overtime to beat the Kansas City Chiefs. No one was backing down.

Finally, an update on Jeff Bezos, whose horoscope we haven’t talked about since 2015.  Back then we noted the potential for a declaration of independence, courtesy of transiting Uranus squaring his Capricorn Sun. Last year, transiting Uranus squared his natal Mars, suggesting strong potential for risk and excitement. The first hit happened in May — and guess what he did? According to US Magazine, that’s about when he started an affair with his business partner’s wife….oh geez…really….? During a summer with Mars retrograde…? And his wife and business partner were informed in the fall, perhaps around the time of the second hit to Mars from Uranus and a Venus retrograde. Well…OK then. Are we surprised?

Now Bezos is getting a divorce. Do you think he consults with an astrologer? Next up for him: transiting Pluto on his Sun, breaking down his old self and building him anew, with the upside potential being empowerment. Resistance is futile.

No sleeping in tomorrow. We’ve got a busy next couple of days; you can chill on Thursday.

Meanwhile, if you’ve been waiting for me to email you back, you will hear from me tomorrow. Thank you for your patience…and thank you for reading this forecast.

Monday 11/12/2018: Sneak Peek at the Week; Michelle Obama & Others, Right on Schedule

…and we’re off to the races again!

Moon is in Capricorn, looking to get down to business, so go for it. Here are the notable planetary patterns for the week:

  • TUESDAY: Moon makes its weekly clash with rebel Uranus at 10:13 AM ET, suggesting an upset to the status quo. Moon goes void for 30 minutes and then enters Aquarius, seeking to network its electric blue socks off. Now that Uranus is hanging out at the tail end of Aries, you’ll notice that Moon voids are quite brief this week. We’ll have one other on THURSDAY between 10:58 PM ET and 11:41 PM ET, and that’s it. No rest for the weary, for now.
  • WEDNESDAY: Moon continues through Aquarius with little interference. Keep on truckin’ — and BACK UP YOUR COMPUTERS NOW — in preparation for Mercury’s upcoming retrograde.
  • THURSDAY: Mars, planet of action harmonizes with Uranus, the rebel technogeek — exact at 4:31 AM ET. Until then, take advantage of the potential we have right now to act outside of the box and channel assertion for positive change. At 9:54 AM ET, the Aquarius Moon squares the Scorpio Sun. How are all those “smiling girls’ faces” holding up? I’m talking about the seeds planted during last week’s New Moon in Scorpio. Today’s First Quarter Moon suggests a chance to work out the details and move forward. It harmonizes with Venus and Uranus at 2:05 PM ET and 10:58 PM ET, suggesting a innovative easy spin in matters of women, money and social expression.
  • THURSDAY: Mars leaves rebel Aquarius for the steaming cauldron it creates when it plunges into Pisces. It’s steams because that’s what fiery Mars does when it hits the water and dissipates into thin air. Pisces is not a comfortable place for Mars, which is more effective when it can be direct. And how annoying it is to have to consider the soulful suffering (Pisces) of all humanity instead of gratifying one’s own ego drive (Mars)? Still, it is determined to try. Watch for these themes to be exaggerated and expanded upon, for better or for worse, around November 19th, as Mars is supercharged by Jupiter. Look for Mars in Pisces to put a major stamp on the next lunar cycle, as it meets up with wiggy Neptune on December 7th, the next New Moon.
  • FRIDAY: This day is driven by the Moon in Pisces, seeking empathy, ideals and impressions. At 5:50 AM ET, Venus finally turns direct, and we’ll have from now until December 15th to review our impulsive aesthetic and value choices made during Venus retrograde. At 8:33 PM ET, Mercury officially turns retrograde, and thou shalt not grumble or panic. We need these down times to review our progress over the past few months. Thus it will be your sacred charge to review everything thrice while the planet of thoughts and communication is moving backwards through high-flying (but potentially sloppy) Sagittarius. Mercury turns direct on December 6th, the day before that Mars-Neptune meet-up. That day sounds ripe for a tangled web of inspiration; we’ll see how much of it is real.
  • SATURDAY: Go with the flow of the Pisces Moon and feel free to shop. If you’re holiday shopping already (everyone at the mall was over the weekend), my money says your generous impulses will rule. There is no Moon void to interfere with your intuitive impulses. Gift certificates for astrological consultations and/or personal reports are sure to be appreciated by anyone on your shopping list. What other gift screams so convincingly (and accurately), “It’s all about YOU!”
  • SUNDAY:  Take advantage of the Moon void by sleeping in. The void is between 3:04 AM ET and 10:56 AM ET, after which the Moon charges into me-me-me Aries, happily jumping off cliffs with exuberance, aided and abetted by Mercury retrograde and that big, fat, expansive surge of energy otherwise knows as Mars (action) square Jupiter (expansion), exact on MONDAY at 8:30 PM ET.

Bottom line: compared to last week, it’s relatively chill.

And now, the news.

UPDATE: On Michelle Obama, who’s right on schedule. With transiting Uranus supercharging her Capricorn Sun in 2017 and early 2018, she harnessed that liberating potential to write her autobiography with no holds barred. It’s being published as transiting Saturn meets up with her natal Mercury, suggesting the advance of a sobering mindset that minces no words. It wasn’t easy for her to get pregnant. She had a miscarriage. No way in hell was she going to smile at P45’s inauguration. Etc. Here’s what’s on her plate through 2022 — posted in 2016.

UPDATE: On the state of California, whose horoscope continues to function as we might expect, for better and sadly, for worse. Avid Readers will recall that California is in a period of volatility that is not likely to end next year (see prior link for thought posted in January 2018).  By nature, California is designed to disrupt the status quo, as it has in its horoscope the Uranus-Pluto conjunction of 1850 — at 29 degrees of Aries. Avid Readers will recall that on Election Day, Uranus returned to 29 Aries, triggering California’s horoscope — exact on November 10th and again on November 17th (the third and final hits occur between February 19th and March 2nd). Adding anguish to the potential for upsets is transiting Pluto square its natal Saturn, in effect for the past couple of years, and exact for the last time on December 7th. Now we are seeing the downside of these patterns in devastating wild fires — the deadliest in California’s history. Paradise has literally burned to the ground.   California Avid Readers, please stay safe.

TOLD YA SO: “New Cholesterol Guidelines Offer Personalized Approach” — just days after Jupiter (which refers to the liver in traditional medical astrology) enters optimistic Sagittarius.

DITTO: “In North Korea, Missile Bases Suggest a Great Deception.”— despite P45’s June 13th tweet assuring us that NoKo was no longer a nuclear threat.  One of the fun things you can do with astrology is run a horoscope for the moment a statement is released (written or verbal, either will work). You can assess the veracity of the statement by examining patterns in the horoscope. When I looked at the horoscope for 6/13/2018 at 5:53 AM ET at Andrews AFB, MD, it failed the truth test. This is a useful technique for evaluating the truth of other statements, including, but not limited to: “the dog ate my homework,” “I will always love you,” etc.

THIS, TOO: Breaking news at WaPo: “Botched Israeli Operation in Gaza Triggers Sharp Escalation of Violence.”   Avid Readers know that Israel’s horoscope is hot, with its regal Leo Moon and Mars eclipsed in July 2018 and August 2017, respectively. Mars is currently at 28 degrees of Aquarius, exactly opposite Israeli’s Mars at 28 Leo, suggesting strong potential for provocative assertion or aggression. Coincidence or conspiracy? Here’s the post from July, with a link to Israel’s horoscope.

Meanwhile, there is always always good news  to report — thanks to the NYT’s  “The Week in Good News.” Indulge and enjoy! And yes, I am still offering a few solid paragraphs on the indulgences Jupiter’s entry into Sagittarius is likely to bring for you. Reply to this email with your date, time and place of birth. Then toss $44 into my Cosmic Tip Jar — a.k.a. the Big Gold DONATE button in the left side of this page on my website (you do not need a PayPal account; just use your credit card).  I will send you insights within a day or so. Thursday-Sunday 10/18-21/2018: News, News and More News

Alll-righty then!

The Moon is in Aquarius: arise, go forth and organize your network — rose-colored as it may be, given mental Mercury’s fast-approaching harmony with Neptune, exact tomorrow — FRIDAY — at 5:48 AM ET (note your dreams upon waking).

Ship it today if it needs to be of consequence, as the Moon goes void on Friday at 8:27 AM ET until 4:20 PM ET (at that time you may head to Canada, where marijuana has just been made legal). Right. And be mindful of a potential clash of wills/combative discourse around lunchtime ET on Friday, as Mercury (talking) and Mars (walking) will clash.

After 4:20 PM ET on Friday, Moon enters Pisces for the rest of the weekend. Shop away, as there will be no Moon void to render your purchases less able to fulfill what you think will be their useful purpose. Just be cautious with major investments in aesthetics, e.g. — art, wallpaper, cosmetic surgery, etc., as Venus is still retrograde.

Moon goes void on SUNDAY at 7:47 PM ET until 2:58 AM ET on MONDAY. Chill on Sunday night. You’ll need your beauty sleep to get  you through the driving energy of Monday’s  me-me-me Aries Moon. That — combined with Tuesday’s face-off between the Sun and rebel Uranus, plus Wednesday’s Full Moon — should start the week off with more than a few jolts and revelations.

And now, the news — over a week of it to cover. Ready?

Avid Readers will recall that last week was scheduled to be especially action-packed in the P45 administration, as transiting Mars opposed P45’s natal 12th House Pluto on October 9th.  Mars also clashed with the Scorpio Moon in the chart of the P45 inauguration. Not only that, but transiting Uranus made the second of three scheduled squares to the inaugural Sun, suggesting a disruption, a break-out or something just plain wacky. So what happened?

Wednesday had three tough patterns: a brutal square between retrograde Venus and Mars; an opposition between Mercury and disruptive Uranus and a Moon in depth-seeking Scorpio. Reflecting the potential for big wave/wash-out suggested by October 8th’s New Moon, Hurricane Michael slammed into the Florida Panhandle on October 10th. It was the strongest hurricane to hit Florida in 80 years. Did you know Rick Scott — Florida’s governor —  banned the words “climate change” from state agencies? It hasn’t stopped the hurricanes or the red tide, which now extends north from Miami all the way up to the Space Coast.

Fun fact: initially there was talk of Michael heading for Tampa, so I calculated the New Moon chart as it was seen in Tampa. Wasn’t convinced. Recalculating the New Moon for Panama City, however, shows a ton of tension making contact with the angles of the chart. Much more convincing as a point of impact. Michael hit land at  1:30 PM in Mexico Beach, just a few miles down the road. Again we see heavy tension on the angles of the chart.

Speaking of climate change, last week a coalition of international climate scientists presented another batch of dire findings and warnings, urging humankind to kick its fossil fuel habit not now, but RIGHT NOW, or we’ll be reeeeeallly sorry in a dozen years. Astrologically, I would expect the 2040s to be the decade of astounding upheaval, and since I’ve always thought I’d live to be 100, I’ll remind you in 2040 that I told you so. Until then, while Neptune continues through Pisces (until 2025), crises involving water, floods, droughts, displaced persons, toxins, drugs and oil will demand attention. After that, we’ll know what we need to fight for…and dream of a new frontier. Oh look…as if on cue…here’s a new missive from the Hathors via sound healer Tom Kenyon. We haven’t heard from the Hathors since April.

Meanwhile, as Michael and climate scientists were howling, P45 held a gathering of sorts with rapper Kanye West and 82-year-old retired NFL legend Jim Brown .  You can watch SNL’s version of it here (with much of the dialogue lifted from the actual event) or read the transcript of Kanye’s baffling 10-minute rant. The point of the exercise — dear Avid Readers — is to think about what might be going on in his horoscope .  If you guessed Jupiter (to reflect his ego that needs to be the size of Brazil), yes he does have Sun conjunct expansive Jupiter in blah-blah-blah Gemini. Good for you! And his Moon is in Pisces, so of course, he needs to feel stuff and, like, y’know.

Bonus points if you’re wondering how nebulous Neptune fits into the picture. Excellent, students! Not only does it oppose his Sun and Jupiter, it also probably squares his Pisces Moon. Does he have any idea who he really is? Frankly, with those four planets now in contact with…transiting Neptune, we can appreciate why he would be in his own personal Twilight Zone. Is there more? Of course! We have to pinpoint that buzz…which would be Kanye’s Venus-Mars conjunction in Taurus suggesting a need for earthy comfort, with a flair for the unconventional, as the two are opposed by natal Uranus. That need for material security is being supercharged as I type by….transiting Uranus, too, suggesting he needs to be –shall we say — innovative and exciting —  in his action and social expression.

Volatility was also experienced in the stock markets last week — dropping  800 points in one day.  If you’ve been reading this forecast since forever, you know that hard patterns involving Uranus and Pluto are often reflected as dips or surges in the markets. Meanwhile,  in the horoscope of the United States, we see a potential focused streamlining in matters of women, money, art and expansion. Why? Transiting Saturn (Mr. Streamline) is opposing the U.S. Jupiter (expansion) and Venus (women, money, art, values). That’s good news for women of gravitas, who are ready to kick butt in the midterm elections…as voters and candidates. The flip side is the potential for harsh control. Next year, as Avid Readers will recall, Mr. Streamline will oppose the U.S. Sun and natal Saturn. More squeeze, focus and control…even as transiting Jupiter will expand the part of the U.S. horoscope that reflects our love affair with the American Dream, romanticized cowboys and Hollywood. Hmm…

In other news…

It’s too hard to write about Jamal Khashoggi, the exiled Saudi journalist who was murdered at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on October 2nd — by a hit squad allegedly sent by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Why? Presumably because words have power, and what Mr. Khashoggi was writing was seen as a threat to the Crown Prince’s authority. My coping strategy is to think about movies like The Shawshank Redemption, where truth and goodness do prevail over fear, cruelty and control…even if it takes a really long time. I can only say that when Jupiter enters Sagittarius on November 8th, over the next 12 months we will see significant stories involving freedom of speech pitted against the forces of authoritarianism. Today, for example, a Vietnamese blogger/human rights activist named Mother Mushroom arrived in the United States after being released from prison — only on condition that she leave her homeland. Proof that the pen is mightier than the sword?

On a lighter note…

As Uranus travels through Taurus for the next seven years, it will revolutionize our attachment for material comfort and security. With Venus retrograde, suggesting an opportunity to review our aesthetics, how cool is it to see “The Transformational Bliss of Borrowing Your Office Clothes.”    Save yourself money and time.

Oh! And this one is worth a Snoopy Dance: Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are expecting their first child in the spring — probably around the time transiting Jupiter squares his Virgo Sun. I’m psyched because when I wrote about their horoscopes a year ago, it was clearly suggested that they would waste no time starting a family. No, you won’t find that observation on the post, because I deleted it before publishing. It felt better to just let them be. Otherwise I might have ended up in a snarky commentary like this Guardian op-ed — and who needs that?

One more fun post! Kudos to the New York Times for daring to publish “Astrology is Hard, Even if It’s Fake”.   I appreciate their effort to shatter common myths about astrology, making people aware that it takes years of study and practice to become a good astrologer…and even longer than that to become truly excellent.   One day maybe NYT readers will be mature enough to be allowed to post thoughtful comments on such articles. As it stands now, the comments section in the article is closed. UPDATE on 10/19/2018:  the comments section is now open — feel free to post!

Thank you for reading this forecast. Here’s the 411 on personal consultations. We will have an inspiring discussion together.

Monday 5/22/2017: Sneak Peek at the Week; News & More News

Alll-righty then!

The work week begins with the Moon in fiery me-me-me Aries, seeking to lead the way off of the nearest cliff. Without a care in the world, like The Fool in your nearest deck of Tarot cards. Thinking big in the morning comes courtesy of the expansive influence of Jupiter at 5:38AM ET, followed by a meet-up with Venus at 10:09 AM ET.

At 2:44 PM ET we may see a power play or emotional catharsis, thanks to the Moon’s weekly clash with Pluto. Action is facilitated that evening by an easy alignment with Mars. We may see an upset in the headlines overnight, as Moon meets up with rebel Uranus at 8:33 AM ET.

On TUESDAY and WEDNESDAY the Moon will be at the end of its cycle in Taurus, seeking to keep things the way they ought to be. Whatever brings you material comfort and security — have at it.

THURSDAY is the most active day of the week. We’ll have a New Moon in Gemini at 3:44 PM ET, in the wake of an intensely emotional clash between Venus and Pluto, exact at 12:19 PM ET. Aries can be a tough placement for Venus, suggesting a consummate flirt with an overwhelming need for approval and great sensitivity to rejection. It could also suggest a warrior woman in an equally hell hath no fury mode. How will that fly in a clash with Pluto in Capricorn, sign of the Powers That Be? Watch the headlines — I hear there’s a nasty budget proposal in the pipeline, loaded with cuts to the social security net.

Meanwhile, a Pluto-Venus square can also suggest passion of the juiciest kind…and you are affected by it personally if you have a planet or angle around 18 degrees of Libra, Cancer, Aries and Capricorn.

Your Moon voids for the week: TUESDAY 2:59 AM ET until 8:33 AM ET; WEDNESDAY 3:08 PM ET until 8:15 AM ET on THURSDAY. If you are unfamiliar with Moon voids and why you should be aware of them, here is a primer from a prior forecast.

And now, the news.

Absolutely nothing happened.

Oh. Wait.

Let’s start with the sweet stuff. Last Monday I anticipated we’d see something sweet on Friday, reflected by:

…an indulgent and exuberant face-off between Jupiter in Libra and Venus in Aries. Watch the courts for over-the-top judgments on matters concerning women.  Maybe we’ll have a helpful headline about sugar and/or diabetes.

“LUCKY CHARMS GOES FULL-ON SUGAR BOMB” blared the subject line of my daily “First Reads” email from the Washington Post. Of course it would be Lucky Charms, given that in astrology, Venus and Jupiter are known as the lesser and greater benefics; i.e., LUCKY CHARMS. As WaPo reports:

Americans are eating less cereal, but executives at General Mills are hoping they’ve found a way to revive sales: By offering customers a chance to win one of 10,000 boxes filled with nothing but Lucky Charms marshmallows.

On its website, General Mills calls marshmallow-only Lucky Charms “the unicorn of the cereal world — fantasized about, but never seen.” In reality, they come with more sugar per serving than a Snickers bar or Twinkie.

I’m so pleased with this aptly timed headline — chosen out of dozens to be the SUBJECT LINE for that daily email — that I’m doing a Snoopy Dance and passing around my Cosmic Tip Jar. It supports my affinity for fresh-cut flowers. With gratitude.

Venus also refers to the thyroid. Jupiter adds expansion. How fascinating to see a piece in the NYT about the alarming number of domestic cats with hyperthyroidism. Not feral cats, mind you. Domestic.  The NYT  reports that 40 years ago, such cases were non-existent. Suspected cause: a class of common household chemicals. Something to think about when considering the current destruction of the EPA and other consumer safety organizations. The lack of oversight could be a death sentence for Fluffy…and potentially us, too. My money says you know more than one person who has a thyroid health issue…and you didn’t several years ago.

In other news,  a Basquiat painting of an angry skull with blood-red accents sold for a “mind-blowing” $110 million at Sothebys. Because nothing says Venus (art) in warrior Aries like an angry skull, selling for a BIG (Jupiter) price.

UPDATE: Roger Ailes passed away. The former Fox News chief was ousted last year — under allegations of  sexual harassment. Looking at his horoscope in a past post, I noted his Sun at 24 degrees of Taurus — conjunct two challenging Fixed Stars: Capulus (male sexual energy) and Algol. The latter suggests “losing one’s head.” Mr. Ailes was born on May 15th; transiting Sun just met up with his natal Sun and those unfortunate Fixed Stars. From the Palm Beach Medical Examiner’s report:

Ailes “died this morning of complications of a subdural hematoma after he fell at home injuring his head,” said the report. “Hemophilia contributed to his death and his manner of death was accidental.”

In other news…

Last week I was thinking we’d see stunning headlines — akin to an ice shelf in Antarctica suddenly falling into the sea. “Thanks to Global Warming, Antarctica is Beginning to Turn Green,” says WaPo. “Arctic Stronghold of World’s Seeds Flooded After Permafrost Melts,” says The Guardian (the seeds are OK, but the flood was a shock.) Meanwhile, a portion of icy Mt. Everest has in fact, collapsed.

It was a stunning week in Washington. “The Trump Presidency Falls Apart” summarizes events of the 10 days leading up to  May 17, when former FBI director Robert S. Mueller was appointed by the Justice Department to be the special counsel overseeing the  investigation into possible P45-Russia ties. Mr. Mueller — a Leo with Moon either in late Pisces or early Aries — has been known to question authority, as the prior link recounts. Here is what we know of his horoscope.

Note that transiting Neptune (fog, scandal, deception) at 14 Pisces is opposing Mr. Mueller’s natal Mercury and squaring his natal Uranus at 12 Virgo and 12 Gemini.  His natal Mars is at 16 Virgo. We can see how he would be exacting and innovative in thought and action. The Neptune transit infuses both with weird, wild stuff for at least the next year…let’s see where he is at in September.

Meanwhile, at the White House….with transiting Sun crossing his Midheaven (shining a light on his reputation/career) and squaring his Leo Mars (ruler of the 9th house of foreign travel) and his Leo Ascendant, P45 jetted off on a tour of  Saudi Arabia, Israel, The Vatican, Brussels and Sicily. Which reminds me of a song from “Evita.”  On the eve of his departure, the big Friday news story was that one of his senior advisers is under investigation.

So far, a tentative $100 billion arms deal with Saudi Arabia has been announced, with much credit being given to Jared Kushner for making it happen. Coincidentally, it was also announced that the Saudis and the UAE will donate $100 million to “a World Bank fund for women entrepreneurs that was the brainchild of Ivanka Trump”. Big deals and big gifts — happy Jupiter opposing Venus….with a dash of Saturn (old guard) cozying up to Uranus (avant garde) for good measure.

Finally, the old guard and avant garde scored big in New Orleans last week, as a number of Confederate monuments were taken down.

“While we must honor our history, we will not allow the Confederacy to be put on a pedestal in the heart of New Orleans,” Mayor Mitch Landrieu said as the latest statue was being removed. “As we near our City’s 300th anniversary, we must continue to find courage to stand up to hate and embrace justice and compassion.”

One of my mentors loves to say that when it comes to a contest between Saturn and Uranus, Uranus will always win. Even if it takes a hundred years or more. The new always triumphs over the old. Eventually.

Plus, Robert E. Lee — one of Confederate monuments in question — has transiting Uranus square his old guard Capricorn Sun. He was scheduled for a fresh start, intense and disruptive as it may be.  The horoscope lives forever!

Astro-logical Forecast for Friday 9/25/2015 & the Weekend; Full Moon in Aries; Total Lunar Eclipse

TGIF!!

Moon is void of course in humanitarian Aquarius until 3:44PM ET. Combined with Mercury retrograde, here we have a major chill opportunity. Whatever crazy rumor — or craze — that occupies the Internet today is likely much ado about nothing, as pleasant or intriguing an escape it might be. Like a dress that is either blue and black…or white and gold — remember that Moon void obsession? Stick to routine matters — or follow the Pope as he continues to take New York by storm. Go with the flow of whatever twists that may derail your efforts to move forward in a straight line.

After 3:44PM ET, Moon shifts gear into Pisces. This is an emotional drive that needs to identify what is ideal. Compassion, intuition and soulful co-mingling can be a Pisces thing. So is vulnerability and faith. This sensitivity may be subject to a particularly militant, explosive or frustrating influence, as the Moon is challenged by action hero Mars and wet blanket Saturn at 4:30PM and 4:40PM ET, respectively. But wait, there’s more.

At 9:12PM ET Mars clashes directly with Saturn. You may be feeling the push to move things forward forcefully if you have a planet or angle at the very beginning of Virgo, Pisces, Sagittarius or Gemini. Fine, so long as you’re not beating yourself up…or the person sitting next to you. People born with Mars square Saturn in their horoscopes can be fiercely determined and disciplined. So can cats…and I know, because I had one with this aspect. She took her work on Planet Earth very seriously.

Note your dreams upon waking on Saturday, as the Moon hooks up with nebulous Neptune at 4:11 AM ET. Moon goes void at 12:32 PM ET on a regenerating contact with Pluto. Skip the yard sales and shopping malls; wander where you will; note that lush emotions are on the rise, as on Sunday we’ll have…

…the Moon void continue in Pisces until 3:29PM ET. How lovely for sleeping in! The pace picks up noticeably when it shifts into me-me-me Aries, trying to fulfill its need to be Number One within the constructs of a relationship. The relationship part is the Libra Sun. Hmmm. Its quest is stabilized by constructive Saturn at 4:30PM ET, but fiery emotions continue waxing Full — and are totally eclipsed at 10:50PM ET.

Eclipses interrupt the regular flow of light and whatever other energy flows from the Sun or the Moon, like a river meeting a dam. This creates a bottleneck of energy that must eventually find a release, usually over the course of a few months’ time. In the case of this eclipse, the time frame is about five and half months.

Eclipses often highlight an area of life where something needs to be brought to a close. Wherever the eclipse falls in your horoscope is where you can expect a bottleneck, followed by a release, likely of an emotional nature. The bottleneck is an opportunity to gather your resources and/or forces before the release. Since the normal flow is disrupted, the opportunity is ripe for changing the flow. That can be a very good thing, as new opportunities are presented. It can also be experienced as quite an ordeal, if the karma cops are behind what is being shut down.

Look for 5 Aries (Moon)/5 Libra (Sun) in your chart and take note of the house which contains it, and planets or angles that are near it. Then write down these dates: November 12th and November 20th, and see if anything is triggered — especially the 20th.  As an exercise, if you have planets around 5 Capricorn and 5 Cancer, you, too, can take note.  Consult your local astrologer for further details.

For further insight on the potential significance of this Full Moon/Eclipse, we turn to Sabian Symbol Guru Blaine Bovee. His take on these cryptic Symbols is so appreciated. For the Moon at 5 Aries: “a triangle with wings”; for the Sun at 5 Libra: “a man teaching true inner knowledge”.

Bovee suggests the triangle represents  “an idealized form of transcendence”. The “man” seems self-explanatory, but how interesting to see “true inner knowledge” appear when Mercury is retrograde. You’re all supposed to be tuning in for information when the Messenger Planet appears to be moving backwards in the sky.

I also find it fascinating that the idea of transcendence is connected to the Aries Symbol, as Aries is all about the self! Equally fascinating is the idea of “true inner knowledge” — or self-knowledge — connected with the Libra Symbol, as Libra is all about partnership!

Bovee suggests we apply these Symbols with a mind to “a creative ease with which personal affinities rise to express one’s true self; getting to know who one really is…not being ruled by others…guiding, not dominating…being comfortable about not quite being in the social picture…being oneself and getting away with it.” I expect to see a few breakouts and breakthroughs for people whose horoscopes are directly affected by this lunar eclipse…and perhaps a breakdown, too. Until, look up in the sky tonight — you can see the eclipse from most anywhere.

And now, the news.

Pluto squares Mercury and digs up dirt; Pluto turns direct; Mars in Virgo squares Saturn, suggesting a brutal dose of militant controls involving opinions and detailed data. “Police Program Aims to Pinpoint Those Most Likely to Commit Crimes,” reads a headline now on the NYT home page. Have the police thought of consulting with an astrologer or two? Not that they would tell anyone if they had…or did.

Meanwhile, across the Pond: “Student Accused of Being a Terrorist…for Reading a Book on Terrorism”. The student is enrolled in a “terrorism, crime and global security master’s program,” but whatever. Guess what his first name is? Shades of Saturn in Sagittarius, as Sagittarius refers to publishing, academia, foreigners; Saturn is control, fear, etc.

In other news, Bill Cosby continues to be right on schedule, as suggested by his horoscope. Within days of the second hit of transiting Uranus (disruption of the status quo) to his Cancer Sun, he’s been stripped of two more honorary degrees and is reportedly lawyering up — for a potential criminal defense. Is his horoscope affected by Sunday’s eclipse? Yes — his Saturn, which sits in the 12th house of self-undoing and rules his 10th of career/public status — is at 5 Aries.  I expect we’ll continue to see heavy and disruptive action in Mr. Cosby’s life into early spring and even beyond…

Astro-logical Forecast for Monday & Tuesday 8/17-18/2015: Sneak Peek at the Week; Get to Work!

Allllllll-righty then!

The work week begins with the Moon still in perfection-seeking Virgo, supporting your efforts to sort, analyze, organize and prioritize your to-do list. At 1:16PM ET, Moon goes void on a supportive connection with taskmaster Saturn, helping you consolidate your plans. What is a void-of-course Moon? Details are here. In today’s case, the Moon makes contact with Saturn and then drifts through Virgo without making contact with another planet. Then Moon enters Libra at 4:23PM ET, officially engaging in the new gear suggested by the new sign — and thus ending the void.

It’s good to know when the Moon is void. You’re less likely to be thrown off kilter by any delays, twists or other “crises” that may crop up in your efforts to move forward in a straight line. Voids are good for chilling out and taking care of routine matters. Once the Moon enters Libra, see if you notice a more engaged focus, especially in the areas of diplomacy, cerebral debate, balance and fairness in relationships.  These are Libra concerns, and you may see them on your plate through Wednesday.

The only other Moon void during the work week begins on Wednesday at 10:56PM ET and ends at 5:24AM ET on Thursday. Plant those New Moon seeds!

Tomorrow (Tuesday), the morning is energized by an easy alignment between Moon and Mars.  This is a helpful alignment that may effectively channel the dramatic action potential of Mars in Leo, which has been running wild in the cosmos for the past few days. Mars in Leo can be explosive, fiery and dramatic,  “getting away with murder” and putting on quite a show. Around 7:30PM ET on Tuesday, note the potential for a power play or emotional catharsis, as the Moon is challenged by Pluto.

We have two patterns of note this week.  On Wednesday at 12:44PM ET, Venus (women, art, money, social expression) will trine Uranus. A trine is an easy connection between two planets. Uranus refers to friendship and that which is unconventional, innovative, humanitarian and independent — perhaps a little rebellious. Here’s a story reflecting Venus and Uranus, along with the idealized queenly potential of the weekend’s meet-up between Venus and the Sun — both in Leo (the king/queen): “The Village Where Men Are Banned”. As for the reasons why these women have established their own community, they are symbolized by Saturn at the end of its trek through Scorpio. Saturn leaves Scorpio on September 18th, hopefully driving people who think that 1o-year-old rape victims should be forced to give birth (as one did in Paraguay over the weekend), off the front page.

The other pattern of note is a square between Saturn (limits, structure, controls) and the life-giving Leo Sun. Here are some headlines from a prior Sun-Saturn square in 2014. Here’s a bit about Huma Abedin (who has a heavy Sun-Saturn pattern in her horoscope), and what happened in her life when Saturn made contact with her Sun by transit in 2013.

Finally — here’s an interesting piece reflecting the expansion of focus on work routines suggested by Jupiter’s recent ingress into Virgo: “Inside Amazon: Wrestling Big Ideas Inside a Bruising Workplace”. Shades of this week’s heavy, work-work-work Sun-Saturn square here, too. Would you be surprised to learn that the horoscope of the United States has a Sun-Saturn square?

Meanwhile, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos has already responded to the unflattering expose. Here is his horoscope. You can see his all-business Capricorn Sun about to be disrupted by the break-out potential of transiting Uranus next year. A push for even greater independence and innovation would not be surprising. We also see the potential for a tight, disciplined and controlling social expression, suggested by Saturn and Venus together in his natal chart. In Aquarius, we can appreciate why he would need to be all things to all people. Venus in Aquarius needs to be everyone’s best friend — and they often are.

We do not have a birth time for Mr. Bezos, so we do not know his Ascendant, nor do we know for sure if his Moon is in high-flying Sagittarius or “make it happen” Capricorn. I’d have to do more research on his life, etc., etc. And why would I do that when I could spend time analyzing your horoscope, hmmm? If you have an important transit coming up, it will be helpful to know about it. Although if a friend of Mr. Bezos did happen to send him this forecast and he requested a personal consultation, I would be most happy to oblige….

Thank you for reading this forecast. It thrills me to no end that you are sharing it with your friends.
