Astro-logical Forecast for Wednesday 11/13/2013: RAMbunctious; Neptune Turns Direct

OK, break time is over, as of 2:39AM ET, when the Moon zoomed into RAMbunctious Aries — thus ending a 17 hour “go with the flow” Moon void in dreamy Pisces. Aries is a sign that prefers to fall downstairs because it’s faster than walking; however, such impulses may not blend well with the mental fuzziness that may be lingering, given that Mercury turned direct late Sunday afternoon. As you zip through your to-do list today, take a moment to review whatever groundwork was done during Mercury’s retrograde period. You may discover a few errors and omissions. It’s OK to take it slow as we get back up to speed. Be alert for possible shake ups and power plays in the early evening ET, as the Moon makes its weekly clash with the never-ending Uranus-Pluto square.

Another planetary shift today is nebulous Neptune turning direct at 2 degrees of Pisces, thus ending a five month period of subtle focus on your own dreams and intuition for guidance. When a planet is retrograde, the suggestion is to turn inward on issues involving that planet, as opposed to looking outside the self.  You’ll feel the effects of Neptune’s change of station more personally if you were born 2-3 days into Pisces, Virgo, Gemini and Sagittarius…or if you have a planet or angle at 2 degrees of those signs. What kind of effects? Oh….perhaps you are feeling somewhat bewildered…or less inclined to be in Type A personality mode (if you are normally a Type A personality). You may find yourself needing to express your creativity — even if you have never thought of yourself as a “creative” person. You may also find being of service richly rewarding.

Meanwhile, we are likely to see some exciting, unconventional breakthroughs and disruptions in aesthetics, women and finance over the next couple of days. Why? Because Venus in Capricorn will be making exact contact with Uranus and Pluto. If you missed it, here’s the link to an earlier forecast about what we can expect under Venus-Uranus-Pluto alignments — starting in the sixth paragraph.

Since I followed my own astro-logical advice and made a dreamy, Mercury retrograde-inspired escape over the holiday weekend, I have not been terribly focused on the headlines. However, I did look at the chart for Typhoon Yolanda’s landfall in the Philippines: 20:45 UT on Nov 7 2013 in the town of Guiuan….and it’s what you’d expect to see. If you’re thinking the Uranus-Pluto square would be prominent in this chart, then you’ve actually been paying attention to this forecast for the past five — OMG — five years. Congratulations! You’d immediately notice the “make it happen” Capricorn Moon tightly conjunct ruthless Pluto, right on an angle…squared by disruptive Uranus at another angle. That suggests profound, sudden and total upheaval. You’d also see expansive Jupiter running wild in Cancer, a Water Sign, up front and center in the horoscope. That suggests the potential for something wet and wild, driven by a lot of hot air.

And speaking of Jupiter running wild, it may interest you to know that Jupiter refers to the liver and cholesterol, and that Jupiter has just turned retrograde, suggesting a review and rethinking of Jupiter issues. How fascinating to note the release of revised guidelines for managing and monitoring cholesterol and the use of statins, brought to you by the American Heart Association.

Astro-logical Forecast for Friday-Tuesday 11/8-12/2013: A Holidaze Weekend

It’s a holiday weekend for many in the United States. Would you like it to start early? Well, you’re in luck, because the Capricorn Moon will be void of course from 2:39AM ET until 6:30PM ET, suggesting a time to chill or take care of tasks that are more routine than a brand new initiative. Maybe you have some closets to organize….or some structures that need review, given that Mercury is still retrograde. Maybe the structures are supporting your home, given that Jupiter just turned retrograde in Cancer. If you must punch the clock today, remember the Moon void advisory: it may feel like you are herding cats, as efforts to move forward in a straight line are subject to more than the usual delays, twists and flake outs. Go with the flow and remember that crises that crop up are often much ado about nothing.

Compassion, idealism, rarefied arts, healing and other beautiful escapes are also prominent this weekend, thanks to nebulous Neptune, loving Venus and mental Mercury all getting along famously. On Thursday I noted two relevant headlines: one about a fine night at Sotheby’s, and another about a  aesthetic trend based on total fantasy in Venezuela.

Back to Friday. Once the Moon gets into gear at 6:30PM ET, it’ll be in humanitarian Aquarius. That could push your aesthetic experience into fringe territory. It’s also a fine aspect for channeling compassionate/service-oriented urges into a group or networking situation. Or just hang out with your friends.

Saturday can actually be pretty efficient in projects requiring discipline and measured physical energy. There’s no Moon void to tempt you with useless purchases, though I’d still avoid electronic gizmos until Mercury gets out of retrograde — unless necessity demands it. Beautiful intangibles would be a wonderful element of your Saturday night: music, art, film; healing and soul connections. A fine wine may also be involved.

Whatever happens after 1AM ET on Sunday will happen during yet another long void — from 12:57AM ET until 9:38PM ET. The aspect that starts off the void, however, is the First Quarter Moon, suggesting a challenge to the New Moon agenda set last week. You  may need a long time-out to process whatever that challenge turns out to be. What was the Sabian Symbol of that New Moon? Ah, yes. Something to do with a gathering of elites having a ball. Look for that them in the headlines.

During the long Sunday void, Mercury will turn direct — at 4:12PM ET. Do take it easy on the roads, won’t you? A Moon void and Mercury changing direction on the same day is a recipe for problems caused by confused mental states, faulty communication and snafued transportation. Please chill and stay safe.

Moon will be in soulful Pisces on Monday (as of 9:38PM ET on Sunday) as Mercury and Neptune continue their rose-colored dance. It’s a good day for heartfelt ceremonies honoring those who have served in the Armed Forces are on deck today — as Veterans Day is observed in the United States. It’s a good day for heartfelt anything, frankly — planetary patterns suggest strong potential for empathy, art, music, healing, dreams and love, sweet love…and this rose-colored vibe carries over into Tuesday, too, which is another all-day void of course Moon, starting at 9:34AM ET until 2:39AM ET on Wednesday. Sounds like a reeealllly long holiday weekend to me….enjoy!

Astro-logical Forecast for Thursday 11/7/2013: Practical Dreams; Jupiter Turns Retrograde

OK, break time is over — even in a Mercury retrograde — as the Moon got itself into gear yesterday at 4:44PM ET. What gear, exactly? It moved into Capricorn, a proactive, earthy, practical and ambitious sign if ever there was one. Oh, there may be a few jolts and power plays that we’ll see in headlines in the early AM ET, courtesy of the Moon’s engagement with the Uranus-Pluto square, a.k.a., The Planetary Pattern Everyone Should Be Talking About. You may experience a few jolts in your own personal world, too — especially if you have a planet or angle around 9 degrees of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn. Or just especially super-charged. That’s my excuse today, for sure.

After lunchtime and into the evening, the proactive Moon is well-supported by other planets, continuing last night’s relatively easy flow. And as I wrote yesterday, nebulous Neptune will be pulling focus over the next few days, aligning pleasantly with mental Mercury and Venus. Idealistic? Yes — but also lovely patterns for artists, visionaries, romantics and healers. The down side? A potential overindulgence in mind-altering chemicals and other flights of absolute fantasy, if you know what I mean.  Otherwise, dreamy.

One other planetary shift of note: Jupiter, the cosmic sugar daddy, turned retrograde three minutes after midnight ET. In your own personal world, Jupiter retrograde can put a hold on plans for expansion. In Cancer, which refers to nurturing, emotional and home(land) security, it suggests you turn inward and reconsider plans for growth, making sure they are in synch with your security needs. As Jupiter turned retrograde at 20 degrees of Cancer, you’ll feel this shift more personally if you have a planet or angle at 20 degrees of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn. Jupiter will turn direct on March 6th.

Astro-logical Forecast for Wednesday 11/6/2013: Heavy People Wearing Rose-Colored Glasses

The heavy focus of the annual conjunction between stern Saturn and the Sun (life force) gets the day rolling at 7:01AM ET. You’ll feel this more personally if you were born 14-15 days into the signs of Scorpio, Aquarius, Taurus and Leo….or if you have a planet or angle around 14 degrees of those signs. Potentials of this transit include feeling restricted, controlled and/or a need to streamline. Some may find this transit grounding, facilitating an ambitious reach.

Meanwhile, the opinionated, horizon-expanding Sagittarius Moon is anything but focused. It’s been void of course — wandering aimlessly —  since 11:48AM ET yesterday….but when it finally engages in Capricorn at 4:44PM ET today, I’m thinking you’ll feel a need to take action. And what actions are taken could be rather rosy, in spite of the heaviness of the Sun-Saturn hook-up. Nebulous Neptune will be pulling focus over the next few days, aligning pleasantly with mental Mercury and Venus. Idealistic? Yes — but also lovely patterns for artists, visionaries, romantics and healers. The down side? A potential overindulgence in mind-altering chemicals and other flights of absolute fantasy, if you know what I mean.  Otherwise, dreamy.

In the news, it’s no surprise Chris Christie coasted to victory yesterday, keeping his job as governor of New Jersey. As noted in a post from last year (third paragraph from the bottom), Christie’s Mars and Mercury continue to be supercharged by the Uranus-Pluto square, suggesting exceptionally persuasive efforts in action and communication into 2014 (regardless of his vulnerability to foot-in-mouth disease). Special bonus: if you do read the post in the link above, you’ll find a write up of what we can expect when Venus engages with the Uranus-Pluto square on November 14th and 15th.

Oh the drifting energy of the void void void…I’m just going to stop right here…to be continued…

Astro-logical Forecast For Tuesday 11/5/2013: Venus in Capricorn & Other Matters of Importance

Waking up with a buzz of righteousness that requires proactive expression, perhaps — with the Moon in opinionated Sagittarius, and it’s New Moon energy to boot. Have an innovative thought with your morning coffee, won’t you?

Be aware that the Moon goes void of course at 11:48AM ET — not to enter the next sign, Capricorn, until 4:44PM ET on Wednesday. That’s long time to feel like you’re herding cats, treading water or encountering delays and twists in your efforts to move forward in a straight line. Try to spend some time turning inward, especially since the Moon void begins on a potentially hypercritical and argumentative challenge from action-hero Mars in prissy Virgo. Unless you’re really up for a heated and righteous debate.

Last week was intensely supercharged; take advantage of this natural planetary rest period to let the dust settle. Not that the intensity has disappeared, mind you. On Wednesday AM  we’ll have the annual conjunction of the Sun (life force) with stern Saturn in penetrating Scorpio. That can be super-heavy — but it also offers us an opportunity to get real. Here’s how this hook-up was reflected in the headlines last year — sixth paragraph, please.

Meanwhile, Venus (referring to women, money, aesthetics and social expression), entered Capricorn this morning at 3:43AM ET, demanding decorum and a pedigree in these areas. Venus in Capricorn knows exactly how to use its connections to climb up a ladder (preferably corporate), and until March 5th, so could you.Why such a long stay in Capricorn? Because Venus will be turning retrograde in Capricorn on December 22nd, not to turn direct until January 31st. You can search the archives for thoughts on Venus retrograde — or wait for me to write a post about it as we get closer to December 22nd.

On the 14th and 15th, Venus will make contact with the Uranus-Pluto square (a.k.a. The Planetary Pattern Everyone Should Be Talking About, thus shaking things up in Venus-ruled arenas. At that time, you may find yourself mingling with all kinds of unconventional, yet credentialed types who instantly become your new best friend. These “sudden attractions” are typical under Venus-Uranus transits, when an open-minded, humanitarian, freedom-loving buzz permeates the air. Add Pluto’s intensity to the mix, and some of your social encounters may be quite cathartic.

Mind the void — remember — no impulse shopping sprees or signing of contracts. If you’re looking for ideas on what to do, here’s one possibility, especially with artistic expression so ripe for prominence in the cosmos over the next couple of days…enjoy!

Astro-logical Forecast for Monday 11/4/2013: Sneak Peek at the Week

Happy Monday!

The Scorpio Moon went void-of-course at  11:23PM ET on Sunday, offering us a chill period in which to ponder your New Moon agenda you set yesterday before taking action. Sleeping in late or experiencing any twist or delay in your efforts to move forward in a straight line can be anticipated — especially with mental Mercury still retrograde.

Moon enters high-flying Sagittarius at 3:14PM ET, lightening the heretofore heavy Scorpio lunar energy — and presumably lifting spirits, too. Feel like a gamble or a gambol? A walk in the park, the woods or on the wild side? Consider how you can broaden your horizons — in philosophical and opinionated debate, perhaps. The only exact aspect today is a dreamy connection to the Moon from nebulous Neptune at 7:33PM ET. Music and dancing — or some rarefied spiritual or aesthetic escape? Why not. Push the boundaries of social expression while you can; tomorrow Venus leaves Sagittarius for strategy-oriented Capricorn.

Other planetary patterns we’ll see this week: a heavy hook-up between the Sun and stern Saturn on Wednesday that may land with a thud in the headlines. Jupiter, the cosmic sugar daddy, turns retrograde on Thursday, suggesting a need to turn inward for whatever emotional and home security rewards you seek. Get out your rose-colored glasses for the weekend when mental Mercury and loving Venus align harmoniously with nebulous Neptune….and be very flexible in your travel and communication plans on Sunday, when Mercury will turn direct.

Your void-of-course Moon calendar for the week — other than Monday: Tuesday 11:48AM ET until 4:44PM ET on WEDNESDAY; Friday 2:39AM ET until 6:30PM ET. These are looooong natural chill-out periods where signing contracts and making impulsive purchases are generally not advised. A lot of “go with the flow” this week — and after last week’s intense build-up to the fourth Uranus-Pluto square, that might be a relief.

Speaking of the Uranus-Pluto square, suggesting we’d see a stunning disruption of the status quo instigated by a would-be rebel who dominated the headlines on Friday, that would be this disturbing shooting at LAX. And how long did it take to find an outrageous/righteous headline involving rarefied art, suggested by Venus (art) running wild in Sagittarius (righteous) at the Aries Point (guaranteed to pull focus)? How about this: 1500 modernist masterpieces allegedly “looted by the Nazis” recovered in Germany. File that story under Scorpio/Pluto news from underground, too.

Meanwhile, a follow-up to the note about Edward Snowden’s anticipated ambitious reach that was reported on Friday. Yes, he has a new job. He also asked for clemency from the United States — a request that was apparently rejected, according to this report. Snowden has transiting Saturn to the Moon now; this can spark ambition — and it can also feel painfully isolating.

Last, but not least — from www.earthsky.org — this meteor shower alert for tonight:

In 2013, the thin waxing crescent moon will set at early evening on November 4, leaving dark skies for the peak night of the South Taurid meteor shower. The South Taurids should produce their greatest number of meteors in the wee hours – between midnight and dawn – on November 5. Remember, even a single bright meteor can make your night!

Enjoy!

Astro-logical Forecast for Sunday 11/3/2013: New Moon in Scorpio; Solar Eclipse

The New Moon in  Scorpio officially begins today at  7:50AM ET, offering us an opportunity to re-set  intentions and goals for the next lunar cycle.  Around the 10th, on the First Quarter Moon, we can expect a challenge to those goals, with appropriate adjustments made. At the time of the Full Moon on the 17th, we can expect illumination on the success or failure of our goals for the cycle. If we succeeded, we can consciously release our success into our reality; if we failed, we let go of whatever did not work. After the Third Quarter Moon on the 25th, we can review our achievements, tie up loose ends and get ready to begin another New Moon on December 2nd.

As noted in past posts, Scorpio is concerned with using knowledge to fulfill ambitions of power and control. It can build all the way to Heaven and all the way down to Hell.  It needs to be recognized for having depth and substance. Scorpionic depths and heights apply especially in  matters of sex, death and (other peoples’) money. Scorpio can challenge us to face the nitty-gritty consequences of our basest instincts, fears and passions; really,  we simply can not look away. Have you noticed, for example,  how many headlines we’ve seen all year about rape, abortion and contraception? We’ve had patriarchal Saturn in Scorpio for a year now. Is it a coincidence that these are hot topics?

In the horoscope for the New Moon, we find a tight cluster of planets in Scorpio: Sun, Moon, Saturn and Mercury retrograde. The North Node, a point suggesting the potential for maximum growth, is also in the mix. This suggests more of the serious focus on matters of life and death, much of which may be a REview and REconsideration of past actions. This focus is well-supported by purgative and perfecting alignments from “action hero” Mars in Virgo and “resistance is futile” Pluto  in Capricorn.  Yes, the release of what no longer serves may require uncomfortable adjustments, but really — when are you going to be willing to give up what you do not want?

Also in the New Moon horoscope: Venus (social expression, women, money, aesthetics) is running wild in gamboling/gambling and opinionated Sagittarius, suggesting we’ll see outrageous and/or righteous expressions in the headlines. Also running wild: expansive Jupiter (reward, growth) in Cancer, suggesting what’s driving much of the action during this cycle concerns home, nurturing and emotional security. And then of course, we have the never-ending, revolutionary Uranus-Pluto square. Never a dull moment in the cosmos these days…

This New Moon occurs at 12 degrees of Scorpio, a degree we saw highlighted back in February 2013. That’s the degree on which stern Saturn turned retrograde, and I’d argue that anyone who has a planet or angle at 12 Scorpio has been feeling the pressure to streamline and release all through 2013.  And given that this New Moon is also a solar eclipse, I’d also argue to anyone with 12 Scorpio prominent that if you’ve been resisting the pressure to release up until now, events will likely conspire to force the issue soon — all in the interest of personal growth, of course.  This also applies to people with planets or angles around 12 Taurus, Leo and Aquarius — though it may be argued that the 12 Scorpio crowd is feeling it more intensely than the rest. If you’re one of those people and you’d like clues to what this eclipse might bring, look back to events that happened after November 3, 1994, when we had an eclipse at 11 Scorpio. What was released in the weeks after that?

The Sabian Symbol for 12 Scorpio is “an embassy ball,” which Sabian Symbol guru Blain Bovee notes is an “exclusive gathering of the elite, gathered mostly for their mutual benefit. When positive, integrity and excellence shine; when not so positive, elitism, disdain and specious superiority show forth”. Look for stories of elite gatherings to make headlines for better or for worse. Back in February we noted an elite gathering electing a new Pope and certain elite members of the Supreme Court poised to trash the Voting Rights Act.

In your own personal world, as you focus on projects of ambition and structure during this New Moon cycle, consider “having a ball regardless of social barriers; make the social rounds”…and see where it takes you. Certainly with Mercury retrograde until November 10th, making the social rounds and RE-connecting with people from the past makes perfect sense. As does having a ball. Even if you’re feeling squeezed or frustrated.

 Now about this solar eclipse…

Eclipses act as “bottlenecks” of energy. Light flowing from the Sun or Moon is temporarily interrupted, focusing attention on the interrupted point and allowing something new and possible fragile to enter the picture and grow. And here I would be thinking of Michael, the kindhearted policeman in the storybook Make Way for Ducklings, who stopped the flow of traffic on Beacon Street so Mr. and Mrs. Mallard and their brood of eight could safely make their way to the Boston Public Garden.

Of course while traffic is stopped, it’s also backing up…and when it flows again, it’s possible that some drivers may hit the gas a little too hard — and wham! — there’s a sudden release of the bottlenecked energy.  If you have a planet or point at the degree of an exceptionally potent eclipse, you may feel the effects of the release of the bottleneck for months afterward — sometimes even years. Examples: back in 2011 we had an eclipse at 11 Gemini. How fascinating that a release of heretofore bottled up information dramatically altered the fortunes of Rupert Murdoch, Rebekah Brooks and (former) Congressman Anthony Weiner, who all have a major point or planet at 11 degrees of Virgo, Pisces, Gemini and/or Sagittarius. Might they have been feeling a bit “eclipsed”?

FYI, we had a lunar eclipse on October 18th, which I did not have time to cover. That eclipse happened at 26 degrees of Aries/Libra — and would more personally affect those born around the 16th-18th of April, July, October and January.

To find out where 12 Scorpio  and 26 Aries/Libra is in your horoscope, make an appointment for a personal consultation. You’ll be so glad you did. And consider gifting someone special with a consultation for Hannukah — happening on November 28th. Who wouldn’t love a present that’s all about them?

We’ve got a lot to cover this week. Sending this off now — stay tuned for Monday’s forecast…

Astro-logical Forecast for Friday & Saturday 11/1-2/2013: News From Underground

Should be a busy day. Whereas yesterday had only one exact planetary pattern, today we’ve got a boatload — much of the action we can expect has been covered in prior forecasts. If you happened to be up this morning at 1:26AM ET (other time zones, please do the math), you may have experienced a jolt, revelation, power play or other disruption, as the peace-seeking Libra Moon was challenged by the never-ending Uranus-Pluto square. That square, a.k.a. The Planetary Pattern Everyone Should Be Talking About, will be exact for the fourth of seven times at 7:13AM ET; it’s happening with rebel Uranus at 9 degrees of Aries and ruthless Pluto at 9 degrees of Capricorn.

If you were born 8-10 days into Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn or if you have a planet or angle around 8-10 degrees of those signs, you are feeling the push for emancipation and empowerment more than most. The fifth exact square will be on April 21, 2014…at 13 degrees of Aries and Capricorn.

As discussed yesterday, along with the buzz of Uranus-Pluto, this day offers much potential for serious focus and revelations as a result of investigation — perhaps driven by idealism. I’m already seeing plenty of “news from underground”, including a tunnel used for smuggling discovered at the U.S. – Mexican border. Also, a notorious “architect of the Holocaust” who escaped capture in 1945 is now believed to have been killed and buried in a Jewish cemetery in that same year.  And if you’ve been following the phone hacking scandal in the UK involving editors of newspapers controlled by Rupert Murdoch, you would have learned yesterday that two of the editors now on trial — Rebekah Brooks and Andy Coulson — had a secret, six year-long affair. And all three of these stories are on the homepage of the New York Times right now as I type. Coincidence or conspiracy?

Meanwhile, I am delighted to find Edward Snowden back in the headlines simply because I expected him to be making news as a result of some reach of ambition around Halloween. What has he done? Well, apparently, he’s gotten a new job. What’s going on in his horoscope? Believe me, planetary patterns are loud and clear. Would you like to know what’s going on in your horoscope? Consult your local astrologer for details.

Last but not least, you may recall an article posted earlier this week about the dire challenges we face as a result of climate change. As a follow up, here’s how that crisis may impact investors, according to Al Gore. If you happen to be an investor, read that article and learn how to avoid the “carbon bubble”. You’re welcome. There’s a gold “Donate” button to the left of this forecast on this page if you’d like to make a donation, with gratitude — so I don’t run out of midnight oil. Is it too late to say “Trick or treat!?”

On Saturday, the Libra Moon is void from 8:47AM – 1:35PM ET. After that, Moon will be in Scorpio, looking to fulfill its need for depth and substance. Patterns are light; your Saturday date night is aided and abetted by a dreamy connection between the Moon and nebulous Neptune. Don’t forget to turn your clocks back one hour, as Daylight Savings Time officially ends at 2AM ET on Sunday. The new lunar cycle begins at 7:50AM ET — in Scorpio — and it’s also an eclipse. I’ll write about that later this weekend. Stay tuned…
