Astro-logical Forecast for Wednesday 11/12/2014: Still More Power Plays

Mind the Cancer Moon void between 4:16AM ET and 1:44PM ET. That’s your excuse should you encounter any twists or flakes in your morning routine. Chill out and focus on routine tasks if you can; don’t turn a molehill of a crisis into a mountain.

Once the Moon enters Leo, a regal sense of play and a need to shine shifts the energy of the rest of the day.  If you’ve been thinking seriously about a relationship or business alliance, an advance forward may manifest, as we get closer to a meet-up between Venus (money, love, art, women) and Saturn (discipline, structure, business) at 8:02PM ET. Minutes later, at 8:29PM ET, warrior Mars clashes with rebel Uranus and adds a surprising upset or revelation to the night.

And now, the news.

The power plays and revelations suggested by action hero Mars engaging with the Uranus-Pluto square keep on coming. This just in from Beijing:  after months of secret negotiations, the U.S. and China have reached an agreement to actually get serious about reducing carbon emissions. Of course, Mars is also the warrior, and when supercharged by technogeek Uranus, it’s no surprise to see a front-page item about “smart” missiles that apparently can choose their targets without input from humans. A more positive application of this innovative potential that can be found in another front-page item, happening right now, is the Rosetta spacecraft’s effort to land on a comet — 37 million miles from Earth.

Other power plays and revelations include the Supreme Court’s decision, announced on Friday, to hear a case that could strip the word “Affordable” out of the Affordable Care Act — in 36 states. Is one of those states yours? Meanwhile, in the world of law enforcement, a practice known as “civil asset forfeiture” made headlines. What motivates some law enforcement officers to seize private property suspected of being used in a crime — even if the property owner hasn’t been convicted or even charged? The findings are disturbing.

Throw in yesterday’s alignment between Mercury and Neptune, and matters of faith and other intangibles pull focus. In Salt Lake City, the Mormon church finally admitted that its founder, Joseph Smith, had 40 wives, after 200 years of apparently insisting that he was monogamous. In Baltimore, the hierarchy of the Catholic Church is “struggling” to adapt to the changes brought about by the revolutionary Pope Francis.

Add today’s meet-up between Venus (women, money, art) and Saturn (structure, business, wet blanket) to the mix, and pop superstar Taylor Swift makes headlines over her hardnosed decision to pull her entire body of work off of the music streaming service Spotify, claiming that the royalties Spotify offers artists are too lean and mean.

Following up on yesterday’s item about Senator Ted Cruz’s Tweet comparing net neutrality to Obamacare, the Oatmeal has put together a whimsical rebuttal filled with helpful facts for those who aren’t sure what net neutrality actually is and what it means to you.

I’m still looking for a good projector and would love to trade the one sitting in your closet that you never use for astrology services. Drop me a line if we can make a win-win deal.

Astro-logical Forecast for Tuesday 11/11/2014: Power Plays & Such

The Cancer Moon’s need for emotional security may be rattled in the wee hours as it makes its weekly clash with the disruptive Uranus-Pluto square, and suffers a aggressive challenge from Mars. Attention is advised behind the wheel and in the handling of any sharp objects, including your tongue.

Dust settles after 5AM ET  and as the day progresses, a sense of inspired balance is suggested, courtesy of a lovely connection between Mercury and Neptune. Brainstorming, anyone? Note your intuition and other flashes of insight. Ship it today or mind the Moon void on Wednesday  between 4:16AM ET and 1:44PM ET; that’s the time to chill out and focus on routine business matters.

Once the Moon enters Leo, on Wednesday afternoon, a serious focus on relationship is suggested by a meet-up between Venus (money, love, art, women) and Saturn (discipline, structure, business) at 8:02PM ET. Minutes later, at 8:29PM ET, warrior Mars clashes with rebel Uranus and adds a element of surprising upset to the night.

In case you haven’t heard, I’m hoping to barter astrological services in exchange for a good projector.  I plan to be doing more teaching and workshops in 2015, and I need self-sufficient technology for my presentations. Many thanks to my awesome webmaster Mark Marshall at Interage for noticing the link to my example of a good projector did not work and taking the initiative to build a special host page for it before I even realized there was a problem. Did I mention Mark is awesome? You are also awesome if you have a projector you’re not using and would like to make a trade, with gratitude.

And now, the news.

I promised we’d see some power plays — and some of these are left over from yesterday’s headlines. First, the new Senate majority is vowing to take on the E.P.A. and move ahead on plans to build the controversial Keystone pipeline. You can read the straight news article or let Gail Collins cheerfully explain the situation. Then you can read how Denmark is on track to completely eliminate fossil fuels from its energy diet by 2050 — and weep.

Meanwhile, President Obama made a statement on net neutrality today, recommending that the internet be regulated as if it were a public utility. Which makes sense when you consider that it was built with taxpayer dollars, right? Not at all, according to Senator Ted Cruz, who tweeted, ‘”Net Neutrality’ is Obamacare for the Internet; the Internet should not operate at the speed of government”. Which makes sense when you consider that in Mr. Cruz’s horoscope we immediately see mental Mercury squared by his natal Uranus, suggesting a need to think in ways that might be deemed brilliant, eccentric or simply mad. And this natal square is being supercharged by the Uranus-Pluto square into early spring, suggesting quite a buzz and a need to communicate persuasively and prominently. Keep watching the headlines.

In other news, newly re-elected Governor Scott Walker of Wisconsin is wasting no time applying the empowered perspective suggested by current transits in his horoscope and “teasing” a presidential run in 2016. In another power play, he announced a plan to require recipients of food stamps and other state assistance to submit to mandatory drug testing, even though a similar plan in Florida failed miserably and wasted taxpayer funds before being ruled unconstitutional. For me, it was this news item that brought this week’s  Tarot Card (presented by Beth Owlsdaughter) poignantly to life. Why doesn’t this plan require drug testing for everyone who is supported by Wisconsin taxpayer dollars, including the state’s elected officials?

Turning now to statesman Dennis Rodman and his horoscope, which we last looked at in December of 2013. Planetary patterns suggested he was on top of his game back then, with a “dramatic change of identity perspective and a need for empowered social expression” on deck for 2014-15.  And there was Mr. Rodman on TMZ a couple of days ago, holding a copy of a letter he says was sent to Kim Jong-il, pleading for the release of Kenneth Bae, an American being held captive in North Korea. Coincidence or conspiracy? Mr. Bae was released over the weekend, and the Washington Post has the official version of the story.

For some reason, yesterday’s link to Matt Taibbi’s Rolling Stone interview with JP Morgan Chase whistleblower Alayne Fleischmann did not function as designed.  Here is another version of that page-turner, posted on Truthout.

What’s going on in your horoscope? Here’s the 411 on personal consultations.

Astro-logical Forecast for Monday 11/10/2014: Sneak Peek at a Blockbuster Week

Good Morning!

Lots of potential this week. Are you ready? As of 3:38AM ET, Moon entered watery Cancer, seeking security in family, nurturing and other home/homeland concerns. Note your inspirations in the early part of the day, as the Moon is in harmony with mental Mercury and visionary Neptune. At 6:03PM ET, warrior Mars aligns with potent and/or ruthless Pluto, suggesting a significant power play that may be especially volatile or explosive. On the plus side, this pattern may be reflected as much-needed push through a roadblock.

The Cancer Moon’s need for emotional security may be rattled in the wee hours on Tuesday as it makes its weekly clash with the disruptive Uranus-Pluto square, and suffers a aggressive challenge from Mars. Attention is advised behind the wheel and in the handling of any sharp objects, including the tongue. With passions running high, tensions can easily escalate. You may feel the power surge more personally if you have a planet or an angle around 12 degrees of Aries, Cancer, Libra or Capricorn. Your mission is to channel the surge productively.

Dust settles after 5AM ET on Tuesday, and as the day progresses, a sense of inspired balance is suggested, courtesy of a lovely connection between Mercury and Neptune. On Wednesday, Moon will be void between 4:16AM ET and 1:44PM ET; that’s the time to chill out and focus on routine business matters. Once the Moon enters Leo, a serious focus on relationship is suggested by a meet-up between Venus (money, love, art, women) and Saturn (discipline, structure, business) at 8:02PM ET. Minutes later, at 8:29PM ET, warrior Mars clashes with rebel Uranus and adds a element of surprising upset to the night.

On Thursday, the Leo Moon continues to seek outlets to play and shine dramatically, bolstered by an optimistic (or bombastic) contact between the Sun and Jupiter. Jovial expansion or wretched excess? Those with planets or angles around 21 degrees of Leo, Scorpio, Taurus and Aquarius may be feeling the push to think big.

You may learn if a New Moon project has legs on Friday’s Third Quarter Moon.  Over the weekend, the Moon in Virgo offers an opportunity to sort, refine and assimilate the outbursts and advances made this week, with a serious and streamlined focus due next Tuesday as the Sun makes its annual meet-up with taskmaster Saturn in Scorpio.

And now, the news.

But first, a barter offer. I plan to be doing more teaching and workshops in 2015, and I need to be technologically self-sufficient. If you have a good projector that you’re not using and you’d like to trade it for one or two astro-logical consultations, I would love to hear from you. Here’s an example of a good projector.

OK, now the news.

Over the weekend Venus was squared by expansive Jupiter. Did you know that in medical astrology, Venus rules the thyroid? How fascinating, then, to note the astonishing surge in the number of thyroid cancers diagnosed in recent years, along with evidence that aggressive treatment of this presumed health threat may be wretchedly excessive — and utterly unnecessary.

Meanwhile, did you also know that in medical astrology, Mars rules the head? Mars also refers to war, combat and other physical acts of aggression and violence. With Mars now in Capricorn, intensely empowered by Pluto and Uranus, the New York Times’ Sunday Magazine cover story was this: “How One Lawyer’s Crusade (Uranus in Aries) Could Change Football Forever (Pluto in Capricorn)“.  How? By publicizing the fact, documented by evidence, that the concussions many professional football players experienced on the field led to serious brain damage. And by filing a class action suit against the NFL.

Mars also refers to guns and assassins, and I found it interesting to note this headline about another Navy SEAL claiming credit for the death of Osama Bin Laden, so now it is a matter of debate. But Fox “News” will be airing a documentary about the SEAL this week, perfectly reflecting planetary patterns!  Elsewhere, the headlines have more than the usual “if it bleeds, it leads” stories, as anticipated. Be careful out there.

Meanwhile, in the wake of last week’s illuminating Full Moon, Rolling Stone published investigative reporter Matt Taibbi’s latest page turner. Who remembers that one of the Sabian Symbols of the Full Moon referred to a “muffled voice”? Taibbi’s piece concerns Alayne Fleischmann, a securities lawyer at JP Morgan Chase who presented damning evidence of alleged criminal wrongdoing by senior executives at that bank in the years leading up to the financial crisis of 2008. Yet somehow, no criminal charges have been filed, despite a massive — as in — $9 billion fine paid as a “settlement”.

As reported in this forecast, JP Morgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon personally called US Attorney General Eric Holder on a Pluto-Mars transit which suggested extraordinary effort and persuasion. So let’s see…Eric Holder resigns before the mid-term elections…and then Matt Taibbi’s article, in which a previously “muffled voice” speaks, is published. Coincidence or conspiracy?

To be continued…

…and just a reminder, if you are interested in booking a personal consultation, my special Mercury retrograde incentive for new clients (and gift certificates — the holidays are almost here!) — ends on November 12th. Here’s the 411.

Astro-logical Forecast for Wednesday – Friday 11/5-7/2014: Barack Obama and the 114th Congress; Full Moon in Taurus

As of 8:25AM ET on Wednesday the impulsive, pioneering Aries Moon is void of course, not to enter the next sign — Taurus — until 4:39PM ET. Stick to routine tasks and avoid making mountains out of molehills of declared “crises,” as the twists that crop up during voids are often much ado about nothing.

A measure of calm settles in after 5PM ET, although the stabilizing energy of the Taurus Moon is challenged by 1) heightened emotions as it builds to its fullness tomorrow; and 2) the energizing and effective (upside) and/or angry, volatile (downside) potential of Mars, as it approaches its challenge to Uranus and Pluto (exact next week).

In Taurus, the Moon takes comfort in sensual delights: good food and drink, sweet music and perhaps a snuggle with your sweetie. Indulge. It also takes comfort in building and organizing whatever is required for material security. Draw up those blueprints and build that ark.

That counsel applies to Thursday as well. You are likely to know by now if the seeds you planted at the New Moon will flower, or if you will have to re-group. If you must ship this week, ship it Thursday before the Moon goes void Friday at 11:17AM ET, on a sober face-off between Saturn and the Moon. Chill and take care of routine concerns on Friday until the Moon enters Gemini at 8:45PM ET.

Thursday’s Full Moon yearns to preserve the material status quo, even as it is challenged by an expensive, expansive and indulgent connection between Venus and Jupiter, which will be exact on Sunday. Better to be a seller than a buyer over the next few days — note the latest auction at Sotheby’s. Volatility is also suggested during this Full Moon release and illumination, given the previously mentioned Mars-Uranus-Pluto connections.

The Sabian Symbols for this Full Moon are: “a man muffled up, in a rakish silk hat” (for the Moon at 15 Taurus) and “children playing around five mounds of sand” (for the Sun at 15 Scorpio). Sabian Symbol Blain Bovee notes this shared motif: “inclinations against prevailing winds and toward strange influences”. Briefly, we are advised to find “a creative touch that endures and renews, despite the tides of change” and keep an eye out for “….being temporarily muffled until one reaches the top…a stylish flair introducing a new fashion…openness to new worlds…detachment from disintegrating worlds, from social perception, from transient social position.” There’s much more to be found in Bovee’s wonderful book.

You are more personally affected by the Full Moon’s suggestion of illumination and release if you have a planet or angle around 15 degrees of Taurus, Scorpio, Leo and Aquarius.

And now, the news.

In case you haven’t heard, the Republican party now holds a majority in the US Senate and will control that body’s agenda for the next two years. How did this happen? “Riding a wave of anger….” reads the front page headline in the New York Times. Sounds like an apt reflection of current planetary patterns. Moon in crusading Aries and warrior Mars in practical Capricorn clashing with the disruptive Uranus-Pluto square, anyone?

In Arkansas, voters championed the underdog and elected to increase the state’s minimum wage (from $6.25 to $8.50 an hour). They also opted for a fresh, new face: a Republican senator who voted against raising the federal minimum wage in the House. That may seem perplexing, but as this article points out, ousted Democrat Mark Pryor also opposed a federal minimum wage increase, perhaps because his campaign was supported by Arkansas-based Walmart and other retail organizations.

Minimum wage increases were also approved by voters in Nebraska, South Dakota, Illinois and Alaska, even as they elected more candidates from the Party of Styrofoam. So what was the key difference between the two candidates running for the US Senate in Arkansas and other such states?

“Barack Obama has our country in a ditch, and many of his lieutenants running for the Senate were right there with him,” said Reince Priebus, chairman of the Republican National Committee. “The punishment is going to be broad, and it’s going to be pretty serious.”

Man is it lonely at the top, especially as reflected in current patterns in Obama’s horoscope.  What a tortured, twisted and painful statement.  It makes me think about what I’ve written before about the U.S. horoscope, and the probability of anguish to come in 2015 and 2016, as ruthless Pluto challenges the U.S. Sun and especially the U.S. Saturn. Pluto-Saturn transits in any horoscope are often brutal against a threat of considerable loss.

When I looked at the patterns in the horoscope for the start of the 114th Congress a couple of years ago, it looked like 2015-2016 would be a continuation of the legislative bust that has been the 113th. And when I considered that horoscope again a couple of days ago, the patterns seemed more supportive for a Republican majority than a Democratic one. If that outcome disappoints you, I hope you voted for your preference yesterday. And if you didn’t vote, the complaint hotline is not in service.

Looking at the chart for January 3rd, 2015 at noon in Washington, DC, we see the enterprising Capricorn Sun in a close approach to potent Pluto, recently squared by Uranus. It suggests an uncompromisingly rebellious expression in the recent past, about to express itself with a newly-empowered perspective. It needs to shake up the system, and it will likely hit the ground running.

The wind at the back of its action plan is a sweeping, energetic, purportedly humanitarian Mars in innovative/radical Aquarius. It will have been revved up by a face-off between Jupiter in regal Leo. With Jupiter retrograde by then, however, there’s likely a double agenda to its expansion plan, colored by an obsessive connection with Neptunian matters of faith and fog. Said expansion plan is likely to be felt in areas concerning the media, higher education, courts and foreign affairs. Things are not likely to be as they are presented.

If you don’t  like its action plan, your consolation is that the Mars-Jupiter pattern is separating i.e., waning in its strength. It is supported, however, by an excellent, albeit idealistic rapport among Mercury, Venus and Saturn. This suggests that when it comes to applying thinking and social expression to the realization of ambition, they’re all on the same page — and this ease of expression is likely to grow stronger. The talking points are likely to be consistent.

What’s driving this bus? In the last Congress, it was a perfectionist, hypercritical Moon void of course and running wild in Virgo (which rules healthcare, btw). The void suggested little of consequence would be accomplished, earning the 113th the dubious honor of being the most “do-nothing” Congress ever.

The 114th Congress is driven by an obsessively status-seeking Moon in information junkie Gemini, where it will need to charm, entertain and relentlessly inform in its quest to be the smartest kid in the room. Or instead of an obsession with status, it could focus its efforts on the man at the top (same potential, looking at this horoscope). Instead of criticize, as we saw with the Moon in Virgo, it will go to great lengths to fulfill its need for “the facts,” however trivial they may be. As the glaciers melt. And the fossil fuels burn.

Yet as with the 113th Congress, this Moon is also void-of-course, suggesting that little of consequence will be accomplished, regardless of the revolutionary havoc and power plays the U.S. is likely to suffer. We’re in for another two years of a “do-nothing” Congress. Its lofty ambition, suggested by Saturn in Sagittarius  in the 8th involving itself with deeply personal collective values and resources, is squared by visionary Neptune, which dissolves whatever it touches. How many times will the President dissolve such ambitions by veto?

If this Congressional chart were the horoscope of an individual evaluated from a psychological astrological perspective, we’d see a strong suggestion of suppression, likely by a powerful feminine/maternal influence. Hmmmm. We’d also note the potential for sexual/intimacy fears and controls. If this were a horoscope of a proposed speculative venture evaluated using traditional astrology, we’d note a probability of destruction, by the self or other forces.

That being said, we can expect an especially empowered  and revolutionary stance from this Congress in April and May, just as patterns in Barack Obama’s horoscope suggest an intensely isolating and emotionally severe period in matters of cooperation and possibly health. There’s much that will likely be going on behind the scenes. He will make an effort to support the new paradigm, at least in polite social circles, suggested by his natal Jupiter aligned with Venus in the Congressional chart.  Actually, as this day as progressed the President has reportedly talked of

“…compromise with Republicans on trade, corporate tax reform and infrastructure spending, and promised to reach out to the leaders of the rival party.”

That compromise would be reflected by his Jupiter aligned with the Venus-Saturn “good for business” pattern in the 114th horoscope…although of course, the Moon was void during that speech, so it is likely of little consequence.

Meanwhile, he’ll note the first hit of the isolating pattern at the end of January; the second hit in April and the third hit in October.

The patterns in both of these horoscopes dovetail with the intensity of world events suggested by the seventh and final exact hit of the Uranus-Pluto square in March and a series of eclipses in April, which will trigger the highly sensitive Aries Point, the Uranus-Pluto square and the lunar eclipse we had last month. Meanwhile for Barack Obama,  he’ll need to be at the top of his game this December, which should coincide with an ambitious push as broad as the one that energizes this new Congress. An immigration edict, anyone? His executive abilities will need to be fully on display again next July and August.

We live in such interesting times. Your horoscope is especially affected now if you have planets or angles around 12-17 degrees of Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn — and especially 15 degrees of any of those signs. Consult your local astrologer for details on the upcoming potential  — perhaps from out of the blue — for change in your own personal world. Yes, I’m still offering that Mercury retrograde/shadow incentive for new clients until November 12th.

Thank you for reading this forecast.

Astro-logical Forecast for Tuesday 11/4/2014: It’s All About You

Moon continues its charge through me-me-me Aries, needing to be an inspiring pioneer. Jangled nerves, a heady buzz or other revelation, as well as intense emotions may be on deck during the morning hours ET, as Moon makes contact with ruthless Pluto and rebel Uranus at 9:07AM and 12:29PM ET. After, we’re free and clear.

Aries can be an inspiring crusader and a passionate champion of the underdog. It can be impulsive, impatient and yet utterly courageous. It’s always up for something new and daring. If you want to motivate an Aries, tell them a task is impossible. They’ll work overtime to prove you wrong.

Aries can be also be self-absorbed. Like this NYT video interview with uninformed slackers who explain why they aren’t going to bother voting today. They can’t possibly see what might be in it for them. Did you know that the biggest political party in the US isn’t Democratic or Republican? It’s the party that does not vote. Which  means that the outcome of today’s midterm election might be decided by about 40% of eligible voters.  Yea verily, those statistics suggest we Americans totally suck at democracy, even as we brag about how great our system is. What’s up with that?

There’s a saying that’s been around for 90 years or so, credited to a number of pastors — and also to actress and activist Irene Dunne. She was a righteous Sagittarius with Moon in Aries, and in 1945 she said in a radio broadcast:

If we don’t stand for something, we’ll fall for anything.

Here’s The Daily Show’s  Jon Stewart, skewering an example of something you can avoid falling for, if you take the time to be informed. If you are not familiar with Koch Industries, check it out, as this organization is very much involved in today’s election.

Your mission today is to not be a self-absorbed slacker. Stand up and be counted, even if the task seems impossible and even if the media outlets have already predicted which way the votes will go.  In the words of the great Yogi (Berra), “It ain’t over ’til it’s over.”  Here’s what’s at stake, suggested by the Uranus-Pluto square, along with this and this, among other things.  Waaaaaaaaaake uppppppppp!

An election during an Aries Moon does suggest a need for something new, as opposed to Moon in Taurus, which would suggests keeping things as they are. Two years ago, I  looked at the chart for the start of the 114th Congress on January 3rd, 2015. It would seem to be a  body that needs to shake up the system — but with what agenda? I will write more about that chart tomorrow.

Meanwhile, here’s Beth Owlsdaughter’s Tarot Card of the Week, always curiously in synch with planetary patterns. Yesterday’s card pull was “unprecedented” and startling, drawn as it was during a void-of-course Moon. The unexpected twist that turned up is the card I associate with the never-ending Uranus-Pluto square, which will be triggered by aggressive Mars next week and exact for the sixth of seven times on December 15th.

If you’re still not inspired by today’s crusading Moon in Aries drive, here’s a song to inspire you as you make your way to the polls. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. Shine!

What’s going on in your horoscope? That nagging need to make a change will likely be affirmed by planetary patterns, so you can move forward with confidence. Here’s the 411 on personal consultations.

Astro-logical Forecast for Monday 11/3/2014: Sneak Peek at the Week; Bill Cosby

Happy Monday!

Focus on routine tasks in the early part of the day, as the Moon is void-of-course in Pisces until 1:53PM ET.  What is a Moon void, some of you new to this forecast may wonder. Have you ever played on an old-fashioned pinball machine? The ball bounces off those rubber bumpers with force and direction, lighting up the board and scoring points. Eventually the ball stops making contact with the bumpers and rolls down to the bottom of the machine. If you imagine that the Moon is the pinball and those bumpers are planets, the last contact the pinball makes with a bumper is equivalent to the last contact the Moon makes with a planet while it is in a particular sign, such as Pisces. The time it takes for the pinball to fall back down to the bottom of the machine and be relaunched (into the next sign, such as Aries), is like a Moon void.  The pinball rolls back down without much force, and sometimes there is a delay, as the pinball gets stuck on the side of the machine. So it can be with a void-of-course Moon. Got that?

We have a few long Moon voids this week, during which your efforts to move forward in a straight line may feel like you’re herding cats. Roll with whatever twists and flakes crop up and resist the temptation to make mountains out of molehills. Avoid impulse shopping and finalizing plans. Otherwise, chill out. Here are the voids, in addition to today: Wednesday 8:25AM ET – 4:33PM ET; Friday 11:17AM ET – 8:45PM ET.

It’s full speed ahead once the Moon charges into Aries at 1:53PM ET, ready to get something started with fiery conviction. Never mind those pesky details; just jump! Upsets and/or revelations, as well as power plays — for better or for worse — are likely tomorrow morning, as the Moon makes its weekly clash with the never-ending Uranus-Pluto square at 9:07AM and 12:29PM ET. But first, be aware of another charged clash between the Moon and action hero Mars at 12:52AM ET, suggesting you pay close attention behind the wheel and avoid ego-driven confrontations. Better to apply this brief power surge to a creative project or something productively physical.

Other patterns of note this week include the Full Moon in Taurus on Thursday and Mercury entering Scorpio on Saturday. Humming in the background is a fast-approaching challenge between an extremely effective Mars in Capricorn to Uranus and Pluto, which will be exact next Monday and Wednesday. What kind of events can we expect? Here’s what happened in April; here’s what happened in June.

And now, the news, brought to you in part by Saturn in nitty-gritty things we might prefer not to face in matters of sex and death.

First, Brittany Maynard passed away on Saturday at age 29. Ms. Maynard was diagnosed some months ago with terminal brain cancer and made a decision to end her life “on her own terms,” rather than let the disease run its course. She moved to Oregon and made headlines as the poster child for those advocating the right to die with dignity (as one can in Oregon). It is interesting to note her passing on a day with Moon in Pisces (endings), Mars (action) in a cooperative connection with Neptune (drugs, spirit, surrender), along with other exact patterns noted in prior forecasts.

Second, comedian Bill Cosby is making headlines again. Back in September I noted the release of a new biography about the iconic comedian, which was reflective of general planetary patterns. But obviously something suggesting prominence would have been going on in his horoscope, especially since the reason Mr. Cosby is making headlines this month is because a male comedian (Hannibal Buress) called him a rapist several weeks ago in his stand-up act.  And in fact, Mr. Cosby was accused of sexual assault/abuse almost a decade ago, and thirteen women were going to testify against him…until the case was settled out of court.

These allegations were raised again back in February by Salon, but the article did not generate much traction. Now, within a few days, we have Burress’s shout-out going viral and a lengthy account by Barbara Bowman, a woman who did not settle, now detailing  the whole sordid, OMG-must-we-know-all-these-awful-things, tale. (Yes, we must. With Saturn in Scorpio, we can’t look away. Even though we were able to back in 2006).

So what’s going on in Bill Cosby’s horoscope? How about ruthless Pluto turning direct and making contact with the top of his horoscope for the FIFTH and final time since 2013? That’ll get you prominence: a new biography, a new sitcom and — oh yeah, those sexual assault allegations you thought were buried. Not with Pluto.

Next year Uranus will be making contact with Cosby’s me-me-me Aries Ascendant and his emotional security-seeking Cancer Sun. Other patterns reinforce the suggestion of a break-out and an overturning of the status quo. I am intrigued by a measurement to his perfection-driven Virgo Moon suggesting a trauma up for healing, especially since the Moon is part of a pattern in his horoscope called a Grand Trine. I learned from Noel Tyl how Grand Trines, traditionally viewed as “lucky”, also function as defensive structures, which allow the native to act as if the laws others must follow do not apply to him or her. We shall see.

Meanwhile, headlines in Canada are currently focused on allegations of serial sexual assault that resulted in the firing of media personality Jian Ghomeshi. Sign of the times.

And speaking of the Times, the New York Times would like you to know  — in a pithy article — that Bill Cosby and Hannibal Buress will be performing in the New York Comedy Festival this weekend. But not on the same stage.

What’s going on in your horoscope? That nagging need to make a change will likely be affirmed by planetary patterns, so you can move forward with confidence. Here’s the 411 on personal consultations.
