Astro-logical Forecast for Saturday & Sunday 12/31/2011-1/1/2012: Happy New Year!

Saturday began with Moon zipping into feisty Aries at 4:48AM ET, where it soon collided with rebel Uranus at 6:28AM ET. That’s quite a shift from the dreamy, fluid energy of the Moon  in Pisces void we had all day Friday — and I’ve been hearing some wonderful tales of adventure from those who could go with the flow of whatever surprise twists came their way.

Moon voids are excellent for rest and relaxation — and they can be a lot of fun, if you let go of any controlling desire you may have to move in a straight line. My adventures included a surprise free lunch at the office, followed by a magical trip to Nordstrom Rack to return a purse (voids are excellent for making returns). Why magical? Because it turned out that the purse I was returning was exactly what the cashier wanted for Christmas — and there were none to be had at any Nordstrom Rack anywhere!! Isn’t that wild? I couldn’t resist spending two glorious hours in the shoe department (Pisces rules the feet), knowing darn well that whatever impulse purchase I made would also have to be returned, especially the camouflage cowboy boots, which, cool as they may be, are completely impractical and unnecessary (avoid sudden impulse purchases during Moon voids).

Back to Saturday. You may have sensed — and are still sensing — the much more proactive, get-it-done-yesterday charge of the Aries Moon. Very useful for all sorts of initiatives and chores, as well as racing through traffic lights and falling down stairs because it is faster than walking. If you are going out to ring in the New Year, be advised that Mercury in opinionated Sagittarius will be challenged by fiery Mars in stickler Virgo at 1:06AM ET on Sunday, suggesting the potential for sharp words and reckless driving. Not only that, but rebel Uranus is running wild again in the heavens, suggesting a need for risk and other status quo disruptions. Please be mindful if you are on the roads; it would not surprise me at all to see headlines tomorrow reflecting this excitable planetary pattern.

The first challenge to your New Moon agenda is also scheduled to hit early Sunday morning, as the Aries Moon squares the Capricorn Sun. Other than that wild Uranus suggesting news of rebellion, aerospace, technology — and perhaps even astrology, the day offers the potential for a fine time socializing all day long.

Wishing you all a joyous New Year — I will post a forecast for 2012 sometime over the holiday weekend. Stay tuned…and thanks for reading!

Astro-logical Forecast for Monday 11/7/2011: Sunshine & Fog

Happy Monday, a day in which we find the Sun running wild in the regenerative, resourceful sign of Scorpio, demanding our attention. Is that why Paul Krugman’s latest op-ed on the front page of the New York Times is about the real possibility that solar energy will be lighting our way sooner rather than later? http://www.nytimes.com/2011/11/07/opinion/krugman-here-comes-solar-energy.html?_r=1&hp

That zippy shift in energy you may have noticed yesterday at 2PM ET continues today with the Moon barreling through me-me-me Aries, no doubt seeking to take the initiative on all sorts of idealistic and potentially magical ways of thinking. The path is likely as clear as it can be after the potential Neptune-induced fog suggested by  the nebulous planet’s exact challenge to assertive Mars early this morning. No major aspects hit until around 1PM ET tomorrow, when that soulful charge may have to get real, serious or cope with a “wet blanket” thrown on it by a challenge from restrictive Saturn.  Until then, make the very best of a potentially dizzying day.

No Moon voids during business hours this week, except from 11:27AM-3:10PM ET on Friday. Onward!

Astro-logical Forecast for Tuesday & Wednesday 10/11-12/2011: Full Moon in Aries

We are still moving full speed ahead with Moon in the pioneering, inspirational, faith in miracles sign of Aries, the battering Ram. Said Moon waxes full in one minute as I type this, at 10:05PM ET. Full Moons illuminate and clarify the issues set forth during the New Moon two weeks before. And this New Moon cycle suggested a quickening — possibly breathtaking pace, infused by oxygen finally reaching dormant embers waiting for a spark. With that being said, I’ve re-posted the forecast for the New Moon, all about relationship, belonging, campfires and “Kumbaya”. Well? Has that been in the news or what? http://www.nytimes.com/2011/10/12/dining/protesters-at-occupy-wall-street-eat-well.html?pagewanted=1&_r=1&hp  How have themes of belonging manifested in your own personal world? And what illumination does the Full Moon suggest?

More on the Full Moon, but first, tomorrow’s forecast, for those who just can’t wait. Moon continues its hectic pace in Aries all day. Note your dreams upon waking, as nebulous Neptune making contact with Mercury (mind, communication), suggests inspiration to carry you through the day. This softer touch may come in handy as you advance or must respond to whatever issue of gravitas lands in your lap between now and Thursday night, suggested by serious Saturn’s annual meet-up with the Sun (life force).  Moon goes void at  8:08PM ET for and hour and a half. Break time! Then it moves into tactile Taurus, suggesting a chance to eat, drink and get a massage — whatever sensual things make you feel secure and prepare you for the organizing and consolidating to be done on Thursday.

Back to the Full Moon.  I look first to the Sabian Symbols, as interpreted by Blain Bovee. If you’re a serious fan of astrology, just get his book right now on Amazon — you will have a field day reading about every degree of every planet and point in your horoscope. Dane Rudhyar and Marc Edmund Jones have books on the Sabian Symbols, but Bovee’s is so much more accessible in these modern times http://www.amazon.com/Sabian-Symbols-Astrological-Analysis-Original/dp/0738705306/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1318386024&sr=8-

For the Moon at 19 Aries opposing the Sun at 19 Libra we find the symbols of “a magic carpet” opposing “a gang of robbers in hiding”. Oooh, this is just so juicy. “A magic carpet” is empowered by something outside conventional norms, transcending the Earth. Rising above it. What an interesting perspective you can get by introducing a little levity into your life.

“A gang of robbers in hiding”…suggesting a group consciousness with a unique code of honor, working undercover — cloaked, perhaps — as a necessary protection. There are no clearly visible leaders in Occupy Wall Street, the story that has dominated headlines as its ethos spreads to cities across the United States and even London (on Saturday). Isn’t that interesting? Here’s how those gathered on Wall Street are getting things done http://www.truthdig.com/report/item/why_the_elites_are_in_trouble_20111009

Well, fine, you say — how do I apply these symbols to the practical reality of my life? Bovee suggests “a mind to the challenge of maintaining integrity within a compromising social milieu; the right use of cover; creative alternatives to the paths of convention. Think of magic as the wisdom to know when to stand above the fray; to transcend situations that could lead to bereavement; to ascertain the right moment to touch down. Watch for helpers in hiding ready to emerge when help is needed; escapism; waiting on the sidelines until one’s influence can be effective.” In your quest for belonging (the New Moon agenda, re-posted below), how have the issues suggested by the Full Moon come into play? Consider this, as you consider buying Blain Bovee’s bodacious book : )

Astro-logical Forecast for Friday 7/22/2011 and the Weekend: Nasty, Naughty Bits

Friday begins with a continued charge set by the pioneering Aries Moon on Wednesday and Thursday, but likely with less bumps and jolts — ending with a sigh as the Moon goes void at 5:34PM ET. Angelenos, I hope you can skip out of town early today. If there are bumps and jolts, a control freak who running — out of control (!) — might be the source. Check to see that it isn’t you.
Moon enters stubborn, sensual, stability craving Taurus at 12:58AM ET on Saturday and is immediately challenged by the Sun in playful Leo. Bring it on! Overindulgence is a possibility today, but you’re likely to have a lot of fun indulging in your guilty pleasures all through Sunday. With a Moon void on Monday from 9:12AM to 12:34PM ET, you should have plenty of extra time to recover before the work week begins. You’ll then have four days to get things signed, sealed and delivered. Moon is void all day on Friday. Mercury is grinding to a halt (metaphorically speaking) and turns retrograde on August 2nd. Back up your computers NOW. I have learned the hard way how machines have an odd way of spazzing out under this planetary pattern.

In other news, I confess I do sometimes refrain from posting parts of this forecast. Yesterday I wrote an entire paragraph on likely continued manifestations of an obsessive connection between ruthless Pluto and aggressive Mars AND Venus (social expression, love, art, beauty). I anticipated headlines involving sex, brutality, sharp cuts involving resources or emotions and/or something nasty bubbling up to the surface from underground. I deleted it in the interest of focusing on other patterns which felt more immediately optimistic : )  For the record, however, I would like to note the following headlines:  a high-end prostitution ring likely catering to Wall Street clients is busted ttp://www.cnbc.com/id/43830471–a sewage spill stinks up the Hudson River in Manhattan   http://www.nytimes.com/2011/07/22/nyregion/sewage-spill-renders-new-york-harbor-unfit.html?hp X-ray (Pluto refers to radiation) body scanners are allegedly modified http://www.govtech.com/public-safety/Naked-Body-Scans-Airports-Phased-Out.html and the coal industry scores a victory against regulation http://www.truth-out.org/republicans-approve-regulation-blocking-coal-bill-alecs-wish-list/1311185463 and fracking near a Pennsylvania reservoir stuns local residents http://www.truth-out.org/fracking-drinking-water-source-80000-pennsylvanians-raises-alarms/1311168512

Ooh — one more thing. Was anyone watching the markets yesterday? (Of course not, you’re not on assignment at CNBC). But if you were watching the markets, you would have seen them rally on a breaking news headline around lunchtime: “Powers That Be Close To Deal on the Debt Ceiling.” Hooray! A miracle! Minutes later, the headline was denounced as false by wet blankets in all camps. Boooooo! The markets retreated. Why I am telling you this? Read yesterday’s forecast… : )

Have a great weekend!!

Astro-logical Forecast for Thursday 7/21/2011

Moon in pioneering, “fall down stairs because it’s faster than walking” Aries may keep you — or those around you — charging through the day, with a potential dip in the action — or a mood swing — around lunchtime, no matter where you are, though especially if you are on the East Coast. When controlling Saturn opposes the Moon at 11:53AM, it can throw a wet blanket on any situation — or make you more determined than ever to realize your agenda. Aries never never never never gives up, which is a fine position to take, so long as you’re not sitting at opposite ends of a bargaining table debating whether or not to raise the debt ceiling.

Your mission today is to tap into the positive qualities of an Aries Moon: belief in miracles, a pioneering spirit, courage, kindness and innocence that inspires and disarms. Speaking of disarming, you could also think about planning a retreat sometime next month, when Mercury goes retrograde for three weeks and the heat is really on.

Oh — and definitely check out this website — it could be your lucky day! http://www.unclaimed.org/

Astro-logical Forecast for Tuesday 2/8/2011

Writing this forecast just as the heaviest thoughts crossed my mind at 10:17PM in Forest Hills, NY….thinking wet blanket Saturn must be involved — and sure enough, there on the chart I’ve just pulled is dour old Saturn, planet of necessary control, sitting smack on the Ascendant, in opposition to the Moon in feisty Aries. Wet blanket, indeed! Wonder how others in New York are feeling this moment — which fortunately, will soon pass…definitely by the time you wake up in the AM.

The day features an efficient synergy for initiating new projects. Pick up the phone, send the email, write the pitch, build the structure. Also in effect today is a waxing connection from ruthless Pluto to loving Venus, suggesting a day or two of revelations in relationships and/or intensely held feelings that now demand release. Relationships with women can be especially edgy — or on the plus side, especially deep. This may be an opportunity to clear the air by addressing the question, “What is our status and what are we trying to make happen?” Kid gloves may come in handy.

In other news, happy birthday to composer John Williams. Of course he wrote the score for STAR WARS; most Aquarians feel perfectly at home in outer space. May the force be with you, Mr. Williams, and thanks again for that great Super Bowl commercial — they couldn’t have done it without your music.

Other items of note: http://www.npr.org/2011/02/07/133573780/super-ratings-for-super-bowl-111-million-a-record — as anticipated in my Super Bowl forecast — so that feels pretty good! Also noting this item that was published here in NY right after that “heavy influence from Saturn” I mentioned at the top of today’s forecast — how fitting: http://theater.nytimes.com/2011/02/08/theater/reviews/spiderman-review.html?hp (the critic declares this musical possibly one of the worst ever made)

Astro-logical Forecast for Sunday & Monday 2/6-7/2011: Super Bowl Edition

Welcome to the Special Super Bowl Edition of the Astro-logical Forecast, where we attempt to answer the question, “Can a gal who knows little about football use a lot of astrology to anticipate the action and outcome of The Big Game”? You may recall I tried this last year, calling a victory for the Colts, assuming the game would end around 9:10PM EST. Oops. Apparently, the Super Bowl goes on for days…

The chart for a 5:25PM CST kick-off today in Dallas shows  great potential for a very exciting game, sure to be talked about, if it hasn’t been talked about enough already. Fox should be pleased with the ratings, which may well exceed last year’s record-breaking numbers. It looks like the Steelers will present a united, driven, rock-solid display of skillfully executed teamwork. It looks like the Packers, who are favored to win this contest, will be inclined to take greater risks (“fearless”, “courageous”) in their drive to make this victory happen. Both teams should come on strong.

Things look good for the Steelers around 6:25 PM CST. I wonder about the possibility for confusion or sacrifice around 6:45PM CST. Perhaps a stunning Hail Mary pass (or other leap of faith), just before 7PM  CST– or maybe the start of an exceptionally dazzling and/or escapist half time show  or commercial. Just after 7PM CST, the Packers are likely favored. Around 8:25PM CST looks good for the Steelers. A possible surprising upset may occur in the minutes just after 9PM CST…and if this game goes on past 9:15PM CST, it looks very good for Green Bay from then until 9:30PM CST. Four hours — that’s enough time for a Super Bowl — yes? Let the game begin!

If you’re not watching the game, but want to know what else the day might bring, we start off with a dreamy, floaty Moon in Pisces morning. Note that there’s a void of course Moon from 2:13PM — 5:45 PM EST, so you’ll want to avoid the malls during that time. Could make for an unusual twist or spacey feel to the pre-game show, especially since the void begins on a disruptive connection from erratic Uranus.  Expansive, feisty, constructive, combative and determined then becomes the shift in tone when Moon enters Aries, the sign that absolutely, positively has to be NUMBER ONE. If you are working on creative project of any kind, use the practical energy at your disposal to constructively temper any indulgent, excessive urges — or just say the heck with it and enjoy a grand old time, with Alka-Seltzer and aspirin at your disposal when you need them tomorrow morning.

Monday morning brings us more of Moon in Aries and few stressful aspects to disrupt your flow, other than the stardust in your eyes likely from nebulous Neptune continuing to run wild (it’s been like this for a few days), encouraging your inner visionary and/or fanatic. Let’s hope you’re a visionary, because it’s go-go-go all week…no Moon Void either, until Friday.

Astro-logical Forecast for Friday 10/22/2010 and the Weekend

Astro-logical Forecast for Friday 10/22/2010 and the Weekend

Glamorous, charismatic, sublime, surrender, fanatical, transcendental — or perhaps a weird combination of all the above. Whatever it is you’re dealing with today — in your life or in the news — it may not even feel real — but it can still be a delicious escape. It can also be a day of particularly powerful, incisive communication — as a result of intense investigation — we may see some strong personas making especially bold statements in an effort to inspire/influence — watch the headlines. You can also apply this depth of perception to projects of your own.

Moon is still in me-me-me Aries — waxing full at 9:37PM NY. You may recall last month’s Full Moon was also in Aries, a sign that needs to be Number One — and isn’t that an interesting counterpoint to the focus on relationships we’ve been working on all month? What do we really want in our relationships and what are we willing to give in order to get it? That’ll be an interesting question, given that less than an hour after waxing full, Moon moves into sensual, yet stubborn and possessive Taurus, where it usually aims to keep things as they are.

Saturday Sun leaves Libra for Scorpio, joining Mercury, Venus and Mars and increasing the demand for substance over theory in an effort to control. See if you notice the shift in intensity. Sunday’s notable aspect is an easy connection between Mars, planet of action and inventive Uranus, suggesting headlines about progress made in projects benefiting the common good, maybe with a creative dose of technology. Not the worst aspect to have on United Nations Day, eh?

Astro-logical Forecast for Thursday 10/21/2010

Oh, that bewildering Neptune. And that witchy bitchy Venus retrograde in Scorpio dredging up the dreck in relationships — past and present! How else to explain Mrs. Clarence Thomas’s phone call to Professor Anita Hill on Oct 9th asking her to apologize to her husband, the alleged sexual harasser and current Supreme Court Justice. Quick glance at Mrs Thomas’s chart: immediately we see she may be prone to idealism (Sun in Pisces, ruled by Neptune, trine to Neptune), with likely obsessive tendencies resulting from stressful connections between aggressive Mars and delusional Neptune, and mental Mercury and ruthless Pluto (“sexuality, illusion, fantasy and deceit can be played out; may be driven to focus on the unknown, unconscious or subconscious; can be cunning persuasive and manipulative through use of communication and information”). Mrs. Thomas was driven (check her transits) to place a phone call to Professor Hill on a day marked by a stressful contact between Mercury (mind) and expansive Jupiter —  “grandiose thinking; opinionation and bias; driven by belief systems, religious concepts, philosophical ideology; idealism” — and Venus (women) had just gone retrograde EXACTLY on her husband’s Midheaven, which represents his public career status! Yes, nebulous Neptune is currently “hot” in all three charts: the Thomases and Professor Hill — and in the case of Clarence Thomas, we see his Sun (life force), Venus (women, social expression) and Mercury (mind) all under pressure from the Big T-Square Party, especially ruthless Pluto.  Fellow astrologers — birth data for all three posted below; we could talk for hours about these charts. Dear civilians, I’ll now move on to the moment you’ve been waiting for:

Moon is still in impulsive, start-it-yesterday Aries, inspiring you to push ahead. And push ahead you must, while the Moon is still waxing full. Note a possible clash between boundless enthusiasm and a lump of coal in the early part of the day — work through it, if you must. Note also that we are not out of the weirdness zone yet: Friday we’ll have a Full Moon and nebulous Neptune challenging aggressive Mars. Be mindful of what you put in your system over the next couple of days as your sensitivity to toxins may be higher than usual. This includes people selling snake oil. On the plus side — a charismatic performance might be within reach if it comes from an authentic source.

BIRTH DATA: Mrs. Clarence Thomas Feb 23, 1957, time unknown, likely Omaha, NE; Mr. Clarence Thomas Jun 23 1948, 9PM Pin Point, GA; Professor Anita Hill Jul 30, 1956, time unknown, Tulsa, OK  — acknowledging Ricki Reeves, author of THE QUINDECILE — all quotes above from her superb astrological text on a little-known, but extremely potent aspect

Astro-logical Forecast for Wednesday 10/20/2010

Still more Neptune. You may recall a post a few weeks back in which I took a look at California gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman’s birth chart after a former housekeeper alleged that Whitman employed her without checking to see if the housekeeper had a work permit. This was a bit of a problem for Whitman, who apparently has taken a strong position against illegal immigration. Whitman’s chart revealed current challenges from Neptune, suggesting possible idealism, fantasy, escapism, fraud, deception, lies, transcendence, betrayal — you get the idea — and these challenges aren’t going away anytime soon.

Now it has been revealed that when a PR gal (image, illusion) for Whitman announced that the San Diego Sheriff’s Association had endorsed Whitman’s campaign on Monday, there was a typo in her Tweet, thus directing Twitterers to this YouTube video — think tulle, music, alien, intangible, twist, androgyny, rebellious, surreal — in other words a perfect manifestation of nebulous Neptune in the sign of Aquarius trine Mercury in Libra (beauty, balance) on a day with Moon in watery Pisces: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QMWUYMWlEyo&fmt=18   Coincidence or conspiracy? Meanwhile, if any Japanese bass players reading this can tell us what the video is all about, do let us know…

NYers please note that the Moon is void from 6:25- 11:23AM NY time, possibly throwing a wrench into your morning agenda. Let things fall where they may, and definitely go with the flow, chill, brainstorm, focus on the routine; this afternoon the pace ramps up noticeably with the Moon’s entry into “Numero Uno” Aries….followed by Mercury (mind, communication) moving into cuts-like-a-knife Scorpio at 5:19PM NY. WARNING WARNING WARNING — if you are engaged in diplomatic talks, you might do well to choose your words with great care later today, as Moon in impulsive Aries and Venus, Mars — and now Mercury in Scorpio suggest that handling someone with kid gloves is not a top priority. This is also an advisement to restrain your urge to snap back if you happen to be on the receiving end of anyone who has temporarily forgotten their manners or lost their sanity…

Finally, a fabu connection between Mars (action) and expansive Jupiter suggests the potential for boundless enthusiasm (get thee to a gym) or utter bombast.
